For a side trip, you might want to visit Klang, which is about 40 km away from KL. Just take the KTM KOMUTER train from KL station to Klang. Fare is less than 2USD. There you could try the ubiquitous 'Bak Kut Teh'. It's a non-halal pork dish eaten with rice. So you may not want to post it here. This dish is hardly found any where else except in Malaysia and Singapore. And why Klang? Well, because there are over 200 'Bak Kut Teh' stalls and restaurants in Klang.

It's affordable to visit Malaysia, the most expensive thing would be the flight tickets though, but if booked like a year in advanced might get cheaper price. That's how my family usually planned to travel overseas, we booked tickets and hotels one year earlier for cheaper deals 😄

There are sarawak restaurants selling Laksa Sarawak, Mee Kolok, Mee Pok and Nasi Goreng Dabai such ad Dayang Sarawak, they have a branch in Danau Kota, Setapak Dapur Sarawak off Jalan Pahang, opposite the Tawakal Hospital Kedey Kamek, at Sunway Putra Mall Sarawak Bowl, at Sunway Putra Mall food court on the top floor./ they also have a branch in Setapak but I don't know if they are still in business. Dapur Farah King in Sri Kembangan For Sabah Cuisine, I only know of Ikan Bakar Semporna/Samporna in Kepong There is a market called Pasar Borneo where they sell Bornean fresh produce and also food.. It in Sri Kembangan, on Saturdays only...

that is "malay nasi campur" restaurant .. kind of white rice buffet for lunch... not actually real buffet.. but u can top up a lot of dish on top of your white rice. make the white rice "flood" with several savoury dish.
At 7.17 that's Otak Otak. They use fresh fish paste mixed with some spices, egg and a bit of coconut milk. That greenish juice is called Kedondong juice. Kedondong is a type of fruit(you can google search to see how it looks like). Usually the juice has asam boi which is preserved plum thats why it tastes salty and sourish a bit.

Tempe - shares origin from indonesia and malaysia especially amongst the malaysian of javanese descents. Usually it is fried together with anchovy, peanuts, chilli and onions. Your green drink - I think it's either kedondong asam boi or maybe guava asam boi (asam boi - dried plum). You can also try it (asam boi) with green apple juice. The beautiful bridge is Saloma Bridge. Do visit the Saloma Bridge and KLCC at night. Do try Satay. You can try the famous Satay Kajang - take the MRT to "Stadium Kajang" stop. The satay restaurant is nearby. And of course, like many suggested : Ramly Burger (malaysian's street burger). Tips : when you eat with your hands, first wash it before eating and always use only the right hand.
kendondong and guava is two different type of fruit... kendondong is more like manggo but it very different with regular manggo... kendondong is a native fruit in malaysia... it have no english name same like cempedak, durian and rambutan
Actually most people tend to live in the Greater Kuala Lumpur region such as Petaling Jaya, Ampang, Pandan Indah, Damansara, Subang Jaya, Klang, and other such places. Kampung Baru only has people who are from that area, which is a small community of Malays, who have been living there for ages.

Malaysian food is so simple. You just mixed up everything they gave to you on the rice. Basically that is chicken rice. You need to mix the chilli paste and the black souce (sweet soy souce+ chicken broth) depend on the spicy and sweetness you prefer.

Some local advice . Most of all Malaysia food "you need to mix up all the ingredients that them give to you". That sound weird, because western food is made "1 dish for specific taste" . But in Malaysia you need to mix up in order to get that specific taste of local food. That unique of Malaysia food. For example that NASI AYAM in this video : you need to mix the sauce "black/red & soup" into your rice, and eat with chicken. That how you eat local food. Another exam is like previous video when you eat NASI LEMAK. You need to mix in other to get the taste. Sorry for my broken english

I feel there are more stalls generally in the evenings or afternoons - my opinion. But chinatown is the opposite. There are more food stalls in the morning and afternoon. Night becomes more busy with people selling stuff.

THE entire Kg Baru are is worth USD 3 billion . The reason its not being sold is that every plot of land is passed down for generation. So over time each plot of land got like 30 to 40 people name on the deed and its impossible to get them to agree on anything
Wished you ate at the first crowded restaurant - one of my personal faves - it’s Padang or Minang food which originates from West Sumatera Indonesia, but very popular here 😋 they also have their popular Apolkat drink, a combination of avocado & chocolate sauce, and also Teh Botol Sosro; a well known Indonesian bottled tea.
Kampong Baru was once dwelled by Malays but today, more then 90% (conservative figure) are Indonesians (1st and 2nd generation) mainly from Ache province. Most food stalls and sundry shops were rented to them since the 80s. That is why these so called local Malay food crusine is more like Indonesia style then the local Malay's crusine. (The uploaded did mentioned it tasted like Indonesian food) Today the authentic Malay food can be found in Trengganu, Kelantan, Perlis or Kedah.

go to Kajang n try Satay Kajang near the Kajang Stadium..u can used the public transport to Kajang..prefered by MRT..straight away to Stadium Kajang from KL..The restaurant is just beside the MRT station..
In Malay Language, everything that starts with letter C, will sounds Ch as in Chair. So, cendol is pronounced Chendol. Cendol is actually the green wormy thing made out of flour and the green color came from pandan. You gotta mix everything before sipping cendol The lady at rice stall said Buah Kedondong (ambarella or hog plum). when she said 'Masam-masam', she meant it taste very sour. When they made it into drinks, normally sugar has already been added. And the brownish thing you see in the Kedondong juice was 'Asam boi', which is also sour plum but has been preserved, dried and coated with sugar and salt so it became like liquorice on its own. The lunch set for the girl from England (sorry didn't really your both names), was Chicken Rice. The sambal egg & tempeh are additional side dishes. The black sauce was soy sauce + vinegar...

Kampung Baru, right there smack in the golden triangle of KL, don't be deceived by the wooden house, the land plot of each house is worth multi-million ringgit, many interested parties have made countless offers to buy them but land owners won't budge to sell, they fought hard to preserve their village

To drink the "Cendol" the right way, you need to stir it so it will mix the cendol properly because it has brown sugar and coconut milk, otherwise you will find it too much sweet in the bottom.. Cendol, Laici Kang and ABC "Air Batu Campur" is the most popular desert in Malaysia..
You have to really shake up or stir the beans drink (cendol) to really enjoy it, the wrapped fish paste (otak-otak) is actually made from shrimps & better to eat together with rice..
Minute 13:00 guys, you eat the fish always with a little bit of rice. Eat tempe and chicken with a little rice.. and munch them together in your mouth. And swallow 😅 And pour the soup in the rice. We don't eat it separately, guys. Usually, it hard to finish just the white rice without the dish (lauk). If we run out of fish.. what we do is we get some more of the dish, so that we can finish it together with the white rice. Hopefully, this doesn't complicate your lunch 😅😅 Good job on these videos. Tempe - shares origin from indonesia and malaysia especially amongst the malaysian of javanese descents. Usually it is fried together with anchovy, peanuts, chilli and onions.
Your green drink - I think it's either kedondong asam boi or maybe guava asam boi (asam boi - dried plum). You can also try it (asam boi) with green apple juice.
The beautiful bridge is Saloma Bridge. Do visit the Saloma Bridge and KLCC at night.
Do try Satay. You can try the famous Satay Kajang - take the MRT to "Stadium Kajang" stop. The satay restaurant is nearby.
And of course, like many suggested : Ramly Burger (malaysian's street burger).
Tips : when you eat with your hands, first wash it before eating and always use only the right hand.

kendondong and guava is two different type of fruit... kendondong is more like manggo but it very different with regular manggo... kendondong is a native fruit in malaysia... it have no english name same like cempedak, durian and rambutan

Malaysian food is so simple. You just mixed up everything they gave to you on the rice. Basically that is chicken rice. You need to mix the chilli paste and the black souce (sweet soy souce+ chicken broth) depend on the spicy and sweetness you prefer.
We just moved into KLCC, and this video is a great help showing us what's available in Kampung Baru. U both look like a wonderful couple enjoying the sights and sounds of Malaysia. Have a great journey wherever it takes both of u. Kudos!
Some local advice . Most of all Malaysia food "you need to mix up all the ingredients that them give to you". That sound weird, because western food is made "1 dish for specific taste" . But in Malaysia you need to mix up in order to get that specific taste of local food. That unique of Malaysia food. For example that NASI AYAM in this video : you need to mix the sauce "black/red & soup" into your rice, and eat with chicken. That how you eat local food. Another exam is like previous video when you eat NASI LEMAK. You need to mix in other to get the taste. Sorry for my broken english

I feel there are more stalls generally in the evenings or afternoons - my opinion. But chinatown is the opposite. There are more food stalls in the morning and afternoon. Night becomes more busy with people selling stuff.

Wished you ate at the first crowded restaurant - one of my personal faves - it’s Padang or Minang food which originates from West Sumatera Indonesia, but very popular here 😋 they also have their popular Apolkat drink, a combination of avocado & chocolate sauce, and also Teh Botol Sosro; a well known Indonesian bottled tea.

Kampong Baru was once dwelled by Malays but today, more then 90% (conservative figure) are Indonesians (1st and 2nd generation) mainly from Ache province. Most food stalls and sundry shops were rented to them since the 80s. That is why these so called local Malay food crusine is more like Indonesia style then the local Malay's crusine. (The uploaded did mentioned it tasted like Indonesian food) Today the authentic Malay food can be found in Trengganu, Kelantan, Perlis or Kedah.

@@TravelsonToast drinks in Malaysia are generally sweetened when served. If you wish your drinks to be less sweet you must order "kurang manis" or less sweet e.g. Teh tarik kurang manis. Teh tarik (pulled tea) and iced Milo are our famous drinks

The cendol is from pandan leave, salty taste from coconut milk, red bean usually no corn depend on the flavor with brown sugar. Bon appetit 😋 otak2 with mackerel mixed with grind coconut.

The best way to eat everything in Malaysia is to pour everything on top of the rice and mix it well. The rice with chicken is called "Chicken Rice" and the soup, soy sauce, and the rice is normally cooked together with chicken broth. The way I like to eat chicken rice is to pour soy sauce and chili sauce on top of the chicken so that the chicken is juicy and soft
I like my dish to have individual taste so I never mixed my rice with it xD

In Malay Language, everything that starts with letter C, will sounds Ch as in Chair. So, cendol is pronounced Chendol.
Cendol is actually the green wormy thing made out of flour and the green color came from pandan. You gotta mix everything before sipping cendol
The lady at rice stall said Buah Kedondong (ambarella or hog plum). when she said 'Masam-masam', she meant it taste very sour. When they made it into drinks, normally sugar has already been added. And the brownish thing you see in the Kedondong juice was 'Asam boi', which is also sour plum but has been preserved, dried and coated with sugar and salt so it became like liquorice on its own.
The lunch set for the girl from England (sorry didn't really your both names), was Chicken Rice. The sambal egg & tempeh are additional side dishes. The black sauce was soy sauce + vinegar...

It's not soy sauce + vinegar but sweet soy sauce. The one with vinegar is more popular in Chinese cuisine. It's a must when eating shark's fin soup.

Minute 13:00 guys, you eat the fish always with a little bit of rice. Eat tempe and chicken with a little rice.. and munch them together in your mouth. And swallow 😅
And pour the soup in the rice. We don't eat it separately, guys. Usually, it hard to finish just the white rice without the dish (lauk). If we run out of fish.. what we do is we get some more of the dish, so that we can finish it together with the white rice.
