My one tip... be patient with yourself everything in this video takes lots of practice to get good at... don’t beat yourself up if you’re stuck struggling with something, take a quick break (maybe practice a different track) and when you’re ready, come back to the place you were having trouble with before... that little break should be enough that you can approach the problem with a fresh set of eyes and be able to improve your skills steadily and surely....
Patient is a vertu also need to know this for dragon mines tell me I definitely having a hard time with oxides time on this track I just do the pinny and rubber band trick just for the dragon mines I've been using the joystick for so long I forgotten how it's like to use the D pads
Honestly what I'm doing is using the cheats for infinite turbo's and turbo pads. You'll get to know what the blue fire is and how fast you go, you will be able to learn how to handle them not to mention how to get better at turning at faster speeds.
God, I know! Right! I sucked at those early on, but, well...due to things that happened, I needed something to take my mind off things, and did nothing by ring really practice
Yeah, trying to get past the 8th lap over and over again is gonna teach you some mad reflexes and timing. At those speeds the tiniest timing flaw means you just screwed up the race. Got me a lot better once I started to master these.
Even when the rings don't make you use the optimal path, you may still find that the next time you play that particular track online, you might smoke the other racers and not know exactly what you did differently. I guess it just tweaks your muscle memory in all the right places.
I haven't even beat N. Tropy's times. So this will be helpful. UPDATE: I managed to beat N. Tropy and Oxide's times. But I'm terrified of Velo's and especially the Developers' times.
Heres what it really comes do to when doing these ghosts. These are the 3 major tips youll need to beat Beenox’s times. Tip #1 Stop using the airbrake tech. Learn uturn instead with pressing down on dpad. airbraking has two major flaws. It only works in the air. And its a lot riskier to kill your fire when you land. Because pressing down in dpad keeps your fire while braking and gives you sharp turning. Uturn can be used anywhere. Ground and the air. Youll need to learn how to uturn to do the mine cart shortcut on dragon mines along with other cuts in the game. If you play analog, thats fine. I use analog too. You can still drive with analog, but you gotta practice switching your thumb to use dpad for your uturning and switch back to analog when you driving normal again. Practice and patience! Tip#2 use whatever class you are most comfortable with. You like accel? Stay in accel. No need to learn a new handling all over again. If turns are too tight for you to drive, its not the kart. Its you. Use the uturn tech to make those tight turns you are having trouble with. All classes will be able to beat beenoxs times. If you absolutely have to, try using Drift or Turn class for very tight tracks like Cortex Castle. Yeah... Turn is still a good class despite what others think. Stick with what’s comfortable. If you keep fire for the whole race and have a tight racing line, you will beat all time trials regardless of your class Tip#3 Your ultimate goal should be being able to hold fire from start to finish. Velos times makes many mistakes, which is why the higher level players say his times were easy. Aim for a perfect run. Use your favorite class, and use all that you learned to control your speed and perform uturns to make all the shortcuts in each track. With enough time and practice, youll be able to hold fire on each track and youll be able to beat beenoxs times. Again... practice and patience.
3 little more tips. First, get yaya or spyro. Small characters=small kart. This helped me a lot 2 - try to get every speed bost as possible. Having the sacred fire against normal fire have a LOT of diference. 3-maps with hazards can be worken on. They have the same time (never ramdom) you can use that to know if it is a good idea to go right or left. On a sidenote just to compkete one of your tips. Velo WILL mess up at some point on the track. The most dificult is the winter map (he loses fire right before another blue fore pad).
I hope I can get good enough for the developers times. Then I’d like to go back to the original CTR and race the time trials. I remember how difficult it was originally to beat all of Oxide’s times and I was super disappointed but now I have something to look forward to.
I beaten about 25 times and this is how i done it: Do it the way you like to If you win, good for you, if you lose, watch him, try to mimic him, and then do it better than him. I suck at D-pad tho so i still didnt beat either turbo track or dragon mines, but was only 1 second off on both
I can confirm the Nr. 3 tip: I beaten Velo on Roo's Tube, and aside I jumped to the finishline between the column and the wall - yes, it is tricky, but managed to pull it of 3 times.
YESS!! I've finally beat all of the Velo ghost times thanks to you 😁 Only had Dragon Mines to beat, and after so many attempts, I've done it! I never have to do the Velo ghosts again 🤣 Well except for the Dev times.
To beat Velo you have to embrace the driver You have to sniff the driver You have to lick the driver You have to wash the driver You have to date the driver You have to be the driver I got it, I see the path I must travel (Crashes in the first drift)
So, if I may ask, because right now I'm trying to go for the N. Trophy time trials, do the ghosts race the tracks the same way each time, and the races are basically the same? Like say in Crash Cove, the ghost races the same way, no matter what, and no matter how many times you lose or restart? I'm sorry if that made little to no sense. I've been avoiding those races lately because I felt that each race you get into with the time trials are always random. Any and all tips help, like this video! I'll be keeping these tips in mind
I KNOW AT LEAST for N. TROPY he DOES TAKE the SAME PATH EACH and EVERY TIME. BUT, ONLY on THAT TRACK! Can't say for the BUT I CAN'T SAY IT'S TRUE for the OTHERS.
@@nathanhunt7323 it's still a start though, a foot in the door, so to speak. I might have to sit back down and try it all again once I've finished the Grand Prix
I'm terrible at U-turning so I practiced taking the shortcut on Dragon Mines. With Drift I was able to maintain my flame and avoid the mine cart. I was able to be Velo by about four seconds. Honestly, Drift is a Godsend. Definitely recommend it for most tracks.
For the first step I was able to beat velo on deap-sea with turn and cortex castle with acceleration. It made holding flame and predicting cycles easier for me
I found him difficult in Gingerbread Joyride and Out of time. Other than those two stages I didn't have too much trouble. I wish the reward for beating him was better. My advice is just to keep practicing and studying his movements and the stage.
@@o1aa3hjuqe Actually there is a strategy to beating Velo in Deep Sea Driving. The fans on that track aren't random. If you want more info I recommend you watch theViperian's video on it.
I've done all of the Velo times and I still don't quite understand reserves. I know that you have to drift to keep them but I don't know how to tell how many reserves you have left
Velo actually caused me to switch shortcut in Dragon Mines, for Oxide I got lucky and eventually managed to get good at this wooden ramp u-turn but then by the time I raced Velo I couldn't do it again and now actually believe the mine tunnel to be a way better and faster easier option :)
My 2 cents would be to run through the time trials without any ghost until you are getting close to Velo's times. If your like me and your hands get shaky with excitement when your beating the ghost, or the ghost distracts you a bit when its floating around in your field of vision, this will help. And remember there's lots of videos out there showing someone beating Velo's ghost, but what they dont show is all the failed attempts
I just beat his times yesterday and dear LORD, THAT WAS INTENSE. And of course, the final track I played through was Hyper Spaceway, just cuz I wanted to make the journey end as dramatically as possible lmao
I was able to beat all of his times with Acceleration. I did try the outer fence shortcut in Blizzard Bluff, but I still can't get the hang of the inner fence shortcut (even though I know how it's done). Out of Time was the hardest for me, followed by Cortex Castle and Koala Carnival.
I thought it was going to take 10x more effort to beat him in Gingerbread Joyride but because I played it so much trying to beat Oxide’s ghost I managed to beat that time trial in about 10 tries as opposed the 30 times that went with Oxide. Same muscle memory goes for the special stages in Sonic 2
Yeah that's why I haven't done them yet it's a waste of time. Atleast beating Oxide's ghosts gives you a skin but only a lame decal for beating Velo? Nope
So am I. People are quick to dispute the Turn and Balanced engines because they aren't the fastest... But they are by no means unusable. In fact, often times I find them easier to manage. Especially on the twisty stuff. Simply having the fastest time means nothing if you can't be consistent.

My style of racing is constant air braking taps instead of U-Turn with the Drift Class. Of course I never even knew you can be able to do on the down button when on the ground plus save the fire but its not my thing. Even if I won't be faster doesn't mean I can still keep up with the pros and experts at times too when they use the U-Turn Technique. Practiced with constant Air Braking and it kinda makes a bit of stops but allows me to just as much to take tight corners as long as I got some air too. Its how I beaten all of Velo's times with mostly Speed cause I wanted to test my skills with lack of turn except Out Of Time is the only one I couldn't but the Drift Class cause it makes it too easy. Who knows, maybe you could be faster with the low classes like Balance Engine for understeerig faults and Turn Engine with lack of reserves and height turning plus tight air braking. Could be good practice to show off your skills to keep up the speed engine too that you got skills
Can u make a guild for the real hard short cuts like the lake crossing and the finish line jump in papu's pyramid and any others that's hard. Sewer speedway is in there kinda I think
Could you possibly do a video on the ridiculously low wumpa coin rate at the moment? I’m getting 80 coins for an online race WITH weekend bonus 🙄 do they expect you to do a 100 races to earn the daily deal?!
I have beat all of velo's times but 3 spyro circuit, gingerbread joyride and cortex castle. I can say that you should take notes of even the most minor mistakes and try to correct them and don't restart when you make a small fuck up as even if you don't beat him you may cut of some time from your best time and get some extra practice as if you slowly improve your times you will eventually beat velo.
The only tracks where I used turning engine were deep sea driving and out of time, it was easy keeping BF for the entire race and I defeated Velo's ghosts in my 1st attempt
The reward for beating every Velo ghost is a pointless decal. I hope the one for beating all Beenox times is a legendary skin like Digital. But who knows, it might be finally a skin for Geary?
Do the easy ones first, save the hard ones for last. I used the Speed engine on all tracks except for two. I used Drift for Out of Time and Turn for Deep Sea Driving. It took me 13 days to beat them all.
Great video the tips where really helpfull and it would be a great help for us all if you did a video explaining in detail u turning and air breaking i can do them pretty well but others might not and even i could still learn something new from it so please make that explaining video about in depth u turning and air breaking
I'd recommand to even switch from stick to dpad at all to keep uturn sections smooth ANd if you have problems with driving the ideal line while holding fire watch some good time trial runs on UA-cam, some even do all Velo ghosts in one 89 minute video
Omg I need to get way better at this game...I'm in love with this game and I'm so hooked, but I get my ass handed to me online, and I can't imagine even trying to do the N Tropy times....But I wanna get platinum on this game 😳 I'm always amazed and discouraged when I see footage like this because I can only turbo boost corners and I don't know how to boost straight and non stop, let alone that blue fire stuff!! I gotta study and practice this game alot more, there's just so many pro players it's like OMG HOW lol 😂 Thanks so much for the advice! Really appreciate it...I've gotten so much better with practice but I still feel like a noob compared to this footage haha!
Go to coco park or a wide course and power slide the entire course. Once you can do that consistently move to a more difficult track and try to drift the entire time. It doesn't matter if you hit the wall or fall off just remember what you did and why you fell off. I did this with polar pass and after I learn to power slide on polar pass every other course felt so easy because polar pass has most of the things I needed to practise. U turning, drifting in a straight line, drifting on ice ect. Also don't worry about winning or losing online races I still get clapped even after I had done velo ghosts.
One vital tip is drifting PERFECT and not GOOD. otherwise it will not give you enough reserves to maintain blue fire. (Ideally at least two perfects before drifting again)
I only used drift on Crash Cove, as it was my first Velo time. Otherwise I just use acc and it was rather easy. At least for me as I've played it since the original.
more speed more fun Good idea. The only reason I used “balanced” was due to the fan blade timing. They were out of the way almost every lap. Loss of control was never a concern with speed or drift. I just couldn’t dodge the blades as easy due to the timing of them. Absolutely cannot lose blue fire though if you go that route

I like how he said don’t use turn or balances, but I was able to beat Velo in the new track with balance
I just started to try oxide ghost... very hard but i manage.... drift class is the best... no idea tho how i can beat velo
Step 5 is what messes me up. U turning sometimes eat all my reserves, and I always just barely scrap a wall and all my speed is gone in a blink.
Plz do a video explaining the U Turn and even though I can do most of the tips the U Turn I didn't hear of until now
You hop and hold done square while down and left are pressed and if you need to land but you need to keep turning let go off the accelerator
The only tracks where I used turning engine were deep sea driving and out of time, it was easy keeping BF for the entire race and I defeated Velo's ghosts in my 1st attempt
3:40 😂😂😂
And i managed to beat all this time trials...with BALANCED! (the class i use the most)
The reward for beating every Velo ghost is a pointless decal.
It took me 5 hours over 3 days
Great video the tips where really helpfull and it would be a great help for us all if you did a video explaining in detail u turning and air breaking i can do them pretty well but others might not and even i could still learn something new from it so please make that explaining video about in depth u turning and air breaking
I'd recommand to even switch from stick to dpad at all to keep uturn sections smooth
ANd if you have problems with driving the ideal line while holding fire watch some good time trial runs on UA-cam, some even do all Velo ghosts in one 89 minute video
Well I beat velo with the joystick
@@o1aa3hjuqe I'd never say that it is impossible, just a recommendation to switch to dpad
Cant believe they made a challenge even harder than Oxide
Too late on that, already defeated all his pathetic ghost, but i'm not gonna lie though, some ghost i actually had trouble with
Same lol
I have beaten all except cortex castle
Omg I need to get way better at this game...I'm in love with this game and I'm so hooked, but I get my ass handed to me online, and I can't imagine even trying to do the N Tropy times....But I wanna get platinum on this game 😳 I'm always amazed and discouraged when I see footage like this because I can only turbo boost corners and I don't know how to boost straight and non stop, let alone that blue fire stuff!! I gotta study and practice this game alot more, there's just so many pro players it's like OMG HOW lol 😂
Thanks so much for the advice!
Please help us with tip 5 because idk how to do the u turn and thanks for the help. I feel sorry for the kids since this game is not easy for them
Already beat him but still wanted to watch the video
Yes turn brake down would be awesome
I only used drift on Crash Cove, as it was my first Velo time. Otherwise I just use acc and it was rather easy. At least for me as I've played it since the original.
CTR NF was easy from day 1 but now its so complex
I still can't u turn, don't understand the explanation maybe on screen button representations would be helpful for some people
I used a balanced class on Deep Sea Driving. It made things a lot easier, that track is about the only exception though.
i used drift just for the corner with the hazards on it.
more speed more fun Good idea. The only reason I used “balanced” was due to the fan blade timing. They were out of the way almost every lap. Loss of control was never a concern with speed or drift. I just couldn’t dodge the blades as easy due to the timing of them. Absolutely cannot lose blue fire though if you go that route
the problem with the track is just how hard the hazards are to see and dodge plus that you go ridiculously fast in the track.
more speed more fun Again, that’s why I used a balanced class. Was easier to see the hazards, because I wasn’t going as fast..
i used speed for every track and went to drift only for deep sea driving. might try to beat him with balanced only later.
Nice Video, good for other Player :)
A Video with U-Turn and airbreak is a good idea, i have problem with them :)
IT was good if you have in the screen your controllerinput, it make it easier to understand :)
If you haven't beaten Velo yet, good fucking luck with the developer times.
I only beat one. ONE.
And that was Electron Avenue.
I can't beat oxide time in ginger jolly thing and spyro circuit
Make sure you keep blue fire and take the shortcuts on gingen joyride. On Spyro circuit try your best to keep your sacred fire
Yeah ginger joyride can be a pain. But you gotta keep practicing.
Thank you so much for the help I have beaten oxide on the two tracks it made me a better overall player thanks@o0JoeMama0o and @RedGhost2BlueToast
Please do a more in-depth breakdown of skills like u-turning
Hyped for N.Trophy next boss fight?
Well, I've got the switch version which pretty much controls like hell, so I've got not hope of completing this.
Use a pro controller, I did in like 1 day
Please do a guide on U Turns mother of god I cannot figure that shit out
I already did them all but thanks anyway!
Full breakdown
