  • Rhythm research has been a main subject for some years in AKBAN Hunbu dojo. In our third international meeting we researched the basics of syncopation in battle and kata.

The April 2014 3rd colloquium took place in the AKBAN tel Aviv dojo and explored the rhythm and syncope in two kata from Kukishinden ryu, namely Kubiwa And Kataho.
This meeting of veterans emphasized rhythm and tempo of Yoroi Kumiuch kata, and applied the Methodical pyramid toward adapting these insights into the training regime. The AKBAN colloquiums take place every two months and are open to veterans from all systems.

Great video and I do appreciate the comparison of Kukishinden movement against large armored attacks versus short contemporary shots.

Thank you for sharing! Rhythm is a very important part of combat and movement in any instance as a whole.

Thanks, bringing some complex training methods into the dojo is a trial and error thing.
We use tempo while training, but could learn from someone like Roger Mayweather even better

AKBAN Certaily! I've had the privilege of being a prize fighter before picking up ninjutsu too so I really appreciate Kyori, Hyoshi, and Ugoki and understand the complications of teaching it along side arts like ninjutsu, so it's really refreshing to see this.

Between collar and helmet or upper cheek bone underneath the eye. In Japanese these are called: Amado and Hadome respectively
