Important notes: Don't use a powered USB hub when initially pairing your dongles (extenders are okay). Also, I mention using OVR Advanced Settings at the end, which turns out to be an essential step that you will want to consider! Thank You! After re-calibrating and re-adjusting my setup a gazillion times I came across your tutorial and I finally got everything calibrated, much more easily than what I was doing. You are hitting all the details: calibrating the left knuckle with the right hp controller, turning the knuckle upside down, holding them with 2 hands if you need. and making sure that you're looking straight at the controllers during calibration. Awesome!

Hey! It was one of the best tutorial on this subject i have found. Works perfectly. And that tip about Base stations channels was extremely helpfull. Overall it is much easier than i expected it to be.
Thankyou so much for this video. I was trying to figure out space calibrator with just the text, but I didn't realize I needed to hold the two things together in one hand. Instead of the index controllers, I did this with my hp g2 controllers and full body trackers, and it worked like a charm.
You helped so much because my quest three controllers have lost its tracking and completely broken Now that I can get the valve index controllers, I can play with hand tracking and with the controller and have fun.
7:52 when i hit "pair controller" it says that there is no controller/devices to be paired with. am i doing something wrong? i tried it with it on and off too.
I love the content, keep it up brother. I think I decided I'm going to go with a Vive Pro 2 with Index controllers. Since that setup vs this tutorial are a very similarly priced right now.
Used this guide to marry a HP Reverb G2 with with a cheap OG HTC Vive kit I was able to get. Only difference is, I do not attach the hdmi cable to the old HTC Vive headset, so instead of needing usb dongles for connecting the HTC Vive controllers to the setup, it is using the built in tooth of the headset. Thanks for this guide.
This refreshes my memory so much. I do have a question though. I just had gotten my Vive XR Elite recently. I’m waiting for other part to come in such as the dongles for the index controllers and display port adapters to plug in my new vr to my graphics…would you think that I am able to repeat these steps with a different headset such as the Vive xr elite?
This is awesome, every time I want to turn on VR I gotta use my quest 2 left controller then when I launch steamer I take out the battery in it then turn on the index controllers. I can playspace when I do that.
It allows one device (such as an index controller) to connect to the PC wirelessly! Usually an index headset has two dongles built-in (so you don’t need to buy extra dongles), but if you use a G2 for example, then you need to buy the dongles, or use a Vive/index headset, to be the receivers.
Hello tapping! Thank you very much for taking the time to help the community. I've noticed that anyone who tries to set up FBT with an Hp Reverb G2 is always using steam dongles. Is this dongle absolutely REQUIRED if I want to use the original G2 controllers? Additionally, I have the 5 Tundra Trackers and the tundra dongle. I've been seeking answers but no one has feedback for this setup I'm suggesting, it's been a burden so far!
How is your experience of tracking refresh rate? Like how fluid do you feel the motion is? The original G2 controllers feel terrible to me in this regard, but the index setup is kinda similar. Feels like 45hz/fps with drops sometime. Not talking about low fps in graphics here but refresh rate of the controllers positions. Maybe my HMD is to far away, gotta try to have it closer.
Tracking refresh rate is very fast -- usually around 120 Hz for the base stations and then it's extrapolated to 1000 Hz. The G2 controllers I believe are 60 Hz extrapolated to 1000 Hz. This is needed for any fast motions that might happen. What you're observing with your eyes will be related to the graphics refresh rate -- but it's interesting you don't experience it with other graphics. It is still very possible your graphics are stuttering -- VR handles head movement different than re-rendering objects. So tracked objects like the controllers might look jittery if your FPS is low. I would test to see if lowering your graphics down helps! Try a super low resolution and see if you still see stuttering. Otherwise, I'm not sure tbh :/ And yes having your HMD nearby is good! (presumably a Vive or Index is what you're using?) But I found the range to be pretty decent, so hopefully that's not the issue.
For the dongles do they have to be a specific kind of dongle? I saw something else saying that they have to be BLE connectivity to be able to connect to steamvr.
I have a pretty large playspace and don't really need boundaries since I use a mat in the center anyway. Because of this is it still recommended doing the OVR Settings, or is it purely to set the boundaries?
Mainly for boundaries! BUT you might actually sometimes run into issues running certain games, because of the way they assume you are using a native SteamVR headset. I find this with some seated games, in which case doing OVR advanced settings may be necessary. (and just realized how late this response was, sorry haha)
Hey maybe you see this, are the HTC Vive Tracker 3.0 useable with the HTC Vive SteamVR Base Station 2.0 ? because the 3.0 trackers are new and there is only a 2.0 base station out atm. Thanks :)
Great video, thanks. I will be using old Vive to create Vive wands with hp reverb g2 setup. I presume, after I've completed the setup, every time I want to play again, I need to switch on HTC Vive headset to estabilish conection for wands? After I've done playing can I just switch off everything including base stations and it should all work next time I play? In this setup, will the boundaries of play area show up when I get close to the edge of play area? Perhaps I need to instal mentioned Steam chaperone for that? I am asking all these questions as I am still waiting for reverb G2 to arrive, otherwise I would be trying to answer these questions myself. Once again thank you for this detailed tutorial.
No problem, you're welcome! Yes, your Vive headset will need to be connected to the PC via USB and needs power, just not HDMI/DP -- not sure if it needs to be "on" (if there's a standby mode), but let me know if you find out! After you're done, you can leave the base stations running, or you can turn them off -- I think with the Vive headset you'll have bluetooth connection to them, so you can set your preferences in steamVR For the chaperone boundary, you can use WMR boundaries. But if you prefer using SteamVR boundaries, then you'll want to follow the instructions near the end here: github.com/PumkinSpice/MixedVR/wiki/ReadMe (There's a section called "Using SteamVR chaperone instead of WMR bounds") This step can be essential for certain games to function properly, btw, so worth trying out either way!
@@TappingTV Thank you so much for this info. I will definitely use it for boundaries setup. As for controlers. I have tried them and they are actually better than old vive wands so all the complaints from various users about trackng were exagurated in my opinion. I have a different problem: an image in a headset is slightly shaking from time to time, sort of like unstable headset tracking. Perhaps I need to play a bit with video settings to make it more stable. If you knwo anything about it I would appreciate any info. Also jumping from HTC vive is a big jump in resolution. Things just look amazing. That said I am on the other hand learning how to ignore smaller FOV. Once again thank you for all your work with the YT content.
@@pistopit7142 Regarding tracking, yes user reports of tracking vary a lot -- I actually did a huge tracking video because of it lol. Agreed, t's not that bad. A shaky image in the headset could be a couple things -- depends when you see this. If it's during fast paced games like beat saber, it's possible to experience this "panel shake" just due to fast vibrations of your head (I'm not sure why the G2 seems to have this more than other headsets). If it's during slower gameplay, or if you're experiencing this when you're not moving at all, it sounds like your headset might be losing tracking briefly sometimes. I recommend clearing the environment data and re-set up your room boundaries (I know it's a pain with Vive wands to set up too). Also make sure you do not have blank walls since the headset needs areas of contrast. For this reason, I recommend ironing out the G2 tracking with some play sessions first, before adding in the Vive wands. One other thing to note is that tracking data is all handled through the USB ports, so it can also be worth trying different USB ports. And again no problem at all :) Hope you get the details ironed out to fully enjoy the headset!
I have a problem, I got through the calibration portion, but trying to make the index controllers actually use inputs except for tracking doesn't work (I am not using a dongle, I am using my valve index hmd).
I tried this eith my hp reverb g1. Any idea why the calibration shifts within a game session. I’ve had to calibrate multiple times. I haven’t done anything with last software mentioned regarding the chaperone
My guess is that the issue is on the WMR side. Probably your G1 is "recentering" the playspace so to speak, due to it not recognizing a feature in your room, etc. Basically, I would recommend clearing your environment data in WMR and redoing the room set up. Try to have the headset pointed towards a very constant feature of your room, like a couch or desk that doesn't move between play sessions. That way, it always finds that feature and keeps you in the same space relative to the base stations. I hope this helps, and/or gives you some ideas -- let me know if it works!
It seems that either you can have index controllers paired to the quest 3, or 3 vive trackers, but I can't get my trackers and knuckles to work at the same time 😔
You say at the start you can use the headset itself as the calibration? I am trying to make an old Oculus Dk2 function as a normal vr headset but the DK2 never got controllers. How do you calibrate with a Vr headset?
when i try this, it always favors my quest 2 controller, i tried calibrating fbt and it works that way, but now it doesnt. it almost seems like the quest takes note of what "works" and puts it down as an error and tries to fit it by not letting my controller connect
Hey quick questions. Everything worked perfectly. But i noticed my controllers tend to jump around in place where it ruins my aim in most shooters. Would you happen to know why its doing that? Its unable to main tain still even if i am holding very still
Not sure :/ I hope you figured it out, otherwise I'd double check your basestations are on different channels (check in steamVR) and check that your basestations have good coverage, controllers aren't getting occluded, etc.
TIP FOR PEOPLE THAT USING OCULUS QUEST 2 WITH ANY MIXED BASE STATION SETUP : WHEN YOU SEE YOUR DEVICE DID NOT IN THE RIGHT PLAYSPACE AFTER A WHILE , YOU CAN TURN OFF THE OCULUS GUARDIAN TO FIX THE PROBLEM ( YOU NEED TO ENABLE DEVELOPER MODE TO GET THIS OPTION )
Here is my review! My experience is that it is very reliable, as long as the G2 detects your playspace consistently. ua-cam.com/video/bp8of0cPz8I/v-deo.html
Yes! Use the headset itself to calibrate with the trackers. Set the headset to be the calibrated object with one of the trackers. Then take off the headset and move it around with a tracker, should hopefully work but let me know if you have issues!
So I was able to pair my index hands but now my left foot tracker won't even track it only shows my right foot and hip.. do you know what I can do to fix that?
Maybe a dumb question, but i got laser eye surgery and took my oculus dk2 out of storage and it was much clearer now that my vision is good so i decided to use it now. But I don't have controllers. Would valve index work with a headset that old? The DK2 only has like head and neck/shoulder tracking for reference.
So, I have a couple of old tracking dongles from vive trackers that were faulty and didn't work out of the box, would those work as the controllers tracking dongles as I already have them and don't feel like buying some just so I can use my index controllers
how would i use a Vive as Dongle ? im using a quest 3 i already have Full body and 3 dongles for that i got Knuckles today now im shit out of luck since i cant connect them u said a vive can be a dongle aswell just connect the thing or how does that work exactly ?
Connect the Vive HMD with all USB and power connections, just don't connect the HDMI (or Displayport, can't remember which type of connection the Vive had). It should connect to the knuckles that way
Just plug in the Vive as you would normally except for the HDMI/DP connection to the computer. Make sure the controllers can pair with the Vive headset (or you can do that in step 3), and then go on from step 2! (6:09)
@@TappingTV thank you! busted out my friends vive an set up 1.0 base stations, got the vive going. I get the Reverb G2 tomorrow, so I can just buy the knuckles for 270 and I'm good to go.
When the controllers are paired to the dongles, they don't have to be paired anymore? I used an Reverb g2 at first which synced using OpenVR calibrater. Do I need to do the calibration process again to move over to the Quest 2?
Yup, once a controller is paired to a dongle it will stay paired to that dongle. For the G2 versus Quest 2 situation: yes you will need to recalibrate again. Since both are on different software (WMR vs Oculus). Also, just as a quick tip: if you use the quest 2 with index controllers I recommend using virtual desktop (not air link or link) and select ‘center to playspace (staged tracking)’ in VD settings. This should help you with not having to calibrate all the time. Link and Airlink are notoriously awful for mixedVR set-ups with the Quest. Hope this helps! I think there might be a way to save the "profile" in space cal, so that maybe you can switch between profiles without needed to fully calibrate each time(?) but not sure, haven't done that myself tbh.
Do I need the usb extensions or can I just plug the tracking dongles into my pc directly. I don’t arched the video many times over but I couldn’t find what you used the usb extensions for.
I just used them to keep the dongles separated more, and closer to the playspace -- they will work just plugged into your computer as well! They're just extenders. If the dongles are directly plugged into your computer, it's ideal if they are in USB 2.0 ports and also separated from each other ideally (this avoids possible interference issues).
@@TappingTV oh I see thank you I have a small play space and 2 usb 2.0 ports that are separate from each other thank you for the help and the amazing tutorial
so i have this issue with the controllers where the reverb g2 stutter in my hands. how is the tracking improvement with lighthouse and the g2? does it actually make a difference?
Hi everything works perfect but after I turn off my computer or restart my pc my controllers uncalibrate themselves and I'm wondering if there's a way to keep them calibrated so I don't have to do it every time I want to play a game. Hope you can get back to me even though this is an old video
Hi! First I should ask, which headset are you using? If you're using the G2, calibrations should normally hold between sessions -- I could advise trying to clear your environment data (go into WMR settings -> environment -> "Clear environment data") and re-setup your boundaries with the G2. You can also try starting your G2 sessions in the same orientation each time (face your computer, for example). Typically calibrations are lost because WMR chooses a different room orientation when it starts up. Additionally, when starting your Index controllers, you can hold them above your head, to ensure they are seen by both basestations simultaneously. Again, gives the best chance of everything being aligned as it was the first time. I'm going to copy paste this response in case other people want this information; I hope this helps, let me know how it goes!
Hello , good video. But I have a problem. My controllers show up above my head or at my feet and after the third recalibrate the controller show up behind my back. What I am I dealer with as a problem and how can I correct this problem. Is this calibration problem or software.
Oh that's very odd. You should only need to do one calibration btw. Be sure you are selecting the correct devices in the space cal software (make sure you are calibrating the correct two controllers, for example the right G2 controller and left index controller, or any two devices from opposite spaces, but make sure they are selected properly). And of course make sure they move together during calibration. Otherwise I'm really not sure, sounds like a very odd problem :/
Question - every guide I have seen on how to add Index controllers to an existing WMR G2 setup assumes you want to calibrate your play space boundaries. In my G2 setup, I usually only am sitting or standing, so I have never done a boundary calibration. If I do not need the play space boundary calibrated, do I really need to do any of the calibrations? Once the controllers are paired and seen in SteamVR along with the base stations, will it just work without going through the calibration with G2 & Index controllers in the same hand? Thanks!
Good question! You do still need to do the calibrations. I actually use the G2 without boundaries as well. To understand why, we can think about the how the tracking systems are working: The G2 is camera-based and looks around your room for features such as couch, table, posters on wall, etc. The index controllers look out around your room and only see the base stations. Thus, from your computers perspective, there is no way to relate the two spaces... it doesn't know where the basestations are placed in your room. (even if it did, there still at least needs to be some software to relate the two). So that's why the two spaces are different, until you calibrate them so your computer knows how they are related. I hope this explanation helps, but feel free to ask more!
@@TappingTV Thanks, yes, I did go through the space cal and all is working. On the ergonomic comfort issues you mention, I did find that the controllers felt small for my hands. Even with the straps at the lowest setting, my thumbs were too far past the buttons and joystick to use comfortably, so I just kept the straps very loose, and just held them with no straps. I picked up a pair of the "Knuckles Duster Light" grip add-ons on Amazon, and they made the controllers usable with the straps tightened, also my finger tracking is more consistent - my middle finger was very poorly tracked until I added the Dusters to make the grips thicker. The company beta.Form.solutions has even thicker "Knuckles Duster Two" only available from their website, shipped from New Zealand, I might try those also eventually.
Will a super wireless dongle from tundra labs work fine? and for bay stations was looking at the "Base Station (Certified Pre-Owned)" option on vives website. Would that work?
Yes the tundra dongles should work! As for the base station, it should work as well, although you should also be aware of whether it is a 1.0 or 2.0 base station (either will work, but it's good to know for future compatibility)
@@TappingTV Thanks for the reply brother I greatly appreciate it so one of the tundras super dongles will work? It says will connect up to 3 steam vr devices, thanks again
@@zorlackgamez5976 no worries! yup, should work. Just make sure you account for two controllers count as two devices. If you want to include trackers, each of those count as another device as well. (So two index controllers and 3 trackers would be 5 devices you’d have to connect)
Hi! the dongles are what connect the controllers to the PC, so you need the dongles to be plugged in anytime you’re using the index controllers (or whichever steamVR device you have paired to them). You can unplug the dongles between play sessions though, and calibrations will still hold :)
@@TappingTV sorry again for asking but when you use a USB 2.0 extension cable can i plug that into my Powered USB Hub. My other stuff is plug into it that are my Full Body wired cables
@@metalcoffin6667 No worries at all! I believe that should be totally fine; just keep it in mind if you have weird tracking and need to troubleshoot though
@@TappingTV kind of thought of something funny . this is pretty much how you would have to setup full body in a way it self . i was thinking this would be very hard but now it just seem very easy the index controller are pretty much if you think about it like your full body tracker's in a way , now that i think of it would this cause any problem with my Rife S controller's . i have a Rife S head set and i know the battery life on the index controller's are only 6 to 8 hr of game time if they die can i charger them and take out the dongle so that would allow my Rife S controllers to take over ? I'm problem dum here. i Think the Rife S has it own tracking system maybe , But i do have Base Station 2.0
If I have no bounds set in WMR, will that effect anything, I would also like to have no chaperone since I have 2 different locations in my room I do VR from (Sim racing cockpit and behind for regular VR) ?
Your configuration sounds like you can really take advantage of this set-up! Having no boundaries shouldn't affect anything from a practical standpoint (you just won't have any chaperone for your roomscale area as well). sidenote, If you don't use the Index controllers for your sim racing cockpit, then just be sure to do your calibration in the roomscale area to make sure it's most accurate there, to avoid drift (aka not caring about the calibration at your cockpit).
@@TappingTV Thank you, I plan to do the calibration where I play regular VR (not in the cockpit) and you are right, I don't even turn on the controllers when sim racing. :)
when do i need to calibrate again the controllers?to calibrate again i need to hold them both again?i ordered the valve knuckles and 2valve base stations for my hp and i dont want any issues..
FYI you’ll also need the two dongles to connect the valve controllers to your PC. As for calibrations, if you do it properly and your room does not have any significant changes (and your basestations are in the same spot) you should not have to recalibrate at all, in theory. I rarely recalibrate. Just make sure you start your HP headset facing the same way each time and WMR should set up the same boundaries each time. Goodluck!
Will I need dongles for the oculus quest 2 or if I have it plugged in will that act as the dongles? All I need to know as I’ve bought the controllers and one base station, plan to get a second sometime soon when I can afford it
@@StonedOrange unfortunately only specific ones that are flashed with the “watchman dongle” firmware. You can flash it yourself on a steam controller dongle, for example, but I recommend searching for some pre-made ones. Any dongle used for trackers (such as Vive’s or Tundra Labs) will work, or something like virtual builds or VR dongles vrdongles.com/products/watchman-dongle-for-steamvr-and-htc-vive
Not a silly question! No you don’t need to buy dongles for index controllers to connect to your Vive headset - the original Vive, Vive Pro, and Vive Pro 2 all are native steamVR headsets with two “dongles” built into them already. So you just need to pair the controllers to the headset
Do I need an index controller to calibrate the play space or could I just use a Tracker because I only got three trackers and I didn't order index controllers I just wanted to use the regular Windows mixed reality controllers with everything
Yes, you can use any steamVR device to calibrate! Just be sure to select it in the menu properly (might be easiest to only have one tracker on at first)
Yes, you can use the Oculus headset itself to do the calibration! Hold your index controller (or whatever you are calibrating) on your headset while moving around. You can take the headset off while doing this, or have fun with a "dance" while wearing it. Make sure you don't cover up the cameras/sensors while calibrating.
You must use SteamVR lighthouses for the index controllers. But you can use Rift controllers with other headsets, if you want to get into that: www.reddit.com/r/MixedVR/comments/l42zp4/announcing_oculus_touch_as_mixevr_controller/
I keep getting "BlueTooth not available" when I try paring my base stations. How do I fix this? I've tried finding the solution online, but to no avail. Please help!
Hmm, I suppose my first question is why do you want to pair your basestations? Just as an FYI, they are passive light sources, all they do is emit light (infrared lasers to be more precise). So it's really the controllers/sensors in them that need to be paired, not the basestations. BUT, if you still want to pair them, I would follow these instructions: github.com/monstermac77/vr#MixedVR-Manager and if you have further questions I would encourage you to make a post in /r/MixedVR on reddit. I bet some more knowledgeable people can help you out! I hope this helps a little bit, but feel free to ask more. Having "bluetooth not available" is normal though, since the basestations can only connect via special bluetooth receivers contained in a native SteamVR headset such as the Index or the Vive (I believe for the Vive it's actually the link box). But the instructions I posted above should be able to work without it (at least, they are intended to).
Probably not, although it looks like it could be a fantastic headset. Going to wait to see what others say about it after release -- should be interesting!
A little disappointed that the lighthouses aren't enough to get this job done and I have to have even more dangles plugged into my pc. Is there a way to get this accomplished without the dongles?dangles? I don't think I have any usb 2.0 ports at all on my pc 🤔.
Hi! So the lighthouses are just passive (they don't communicate with the PC). The controllers themselves need to pair to the PC, which means: yes, you do need the dongles, or you can use a steamVR headset in place of the dongles! As for USB 2.0 ports, don't consider that a major issue -- USB2.0 extension cables will work fine from your 3.0 ports. You can also invest in a USB hub if needed. And you can even just try your 3.0 ports on their own, although there is a possibility of interference leading to poor tracking quality.
Can someone tell me what the base stations are connected too? Don't they need a link box or headset bluetooth to connect to the pc? Or do the dongles for the controllers take over that role?
The base stations don’t connect to anything but power. They are passive “lighthouses” - the controllers and headset “see” them and figure out where the controllers/headset are. Think of it like how Oculus inside-out systems “see” furniture or features in the room. Basestations are just very precise features you put in the room for your controllers and headset to see, which is why it’s actually still considered an inside-out tracked system!
One thing to add though, is that they can connect via Bluetooth through a native steamVR headset, so you can change channel numbers and power settings on the basestation remotely - but they don’t need this capability to be used for tracking!
@@TappingTV So once the index controllers are connected to steamVR and such, then so will the base stations because the controllers see them. Did I get that right?
@@Unkno-qx2iu one is sufficient if you don’t need to turn around (or do roomscale) for example. People who do sim racing for example, can get away with one. Otherwise 2 will provide more typical coverage so you can spin around etc
Important notes: Don't use a powered USB hub when initially pairing your dongles (extenders are okay). Also, I mention using OVR Advanced Settings at the end, which turns out to be an essential step that you will want to consider! Thank u, I thought my 1.0 station wouldn’t track the index but after watching your video. They work!
Otherwise, I'm not sure tbh :/
And yes having your HMD nearby is good! (presumably a Vive or Index is what you're using?) But I found the range to be pretty decent, so hopefully that's not the issue.
For the dongles do they have to be a specific kind of dongle? I saw something else saying that they have to be BLE connectivity to be able to connect to steamvr.
I'm also curious of this
@TappingTV I want to do this to do this but what's the dongle. can you please help me!!!!!!!!
Does any of this work with Oculus Touch controllers and the sensors from Oculus Rift CV1?
Dude I need some explanation but could I buy a dongle that's plug and play to connect the controllers with the trackers?
Hey maybe you see this,
are the HTC Vive Tracker 3.0 useable with the HTC Vive SteamVR Base Station 2.0 ?
because the 3.0 trackers are new and there is only a 2.0 base station out atm.
Thanks :)
Should be good! Sorry I didn't see this for a while -- generally newer devices always work with older basestations
Hey I was just wondering can you do the index controllers and the trackers together, on a non vive or a valve headset?
Yup!
thought the knuckles i got were a waste when i couldnt figure it out since x mas thx bro
After you're done, you can leave the base stations running, or you can turn them off -- I think with the Vive headset you'll have bluetooth connection to them, so you can set your preferences in steamVR
For the chaperone boundary, you can use WMR boundaries. But if you prefer using SteamVR boundaries, then you'll want to follow the instructions near the end here: github.com/PumkinSpice/MixedVR/wiki/ReadMe
(There's a section called "Using SteamVR chaperone instead of WMR bounds")
This step can be essential for certain games to function properly, btw, so worth trying out either way!
Where can I get the dongles
when i try this, it always favors my quest 2 controller, i tried calibrating fbt and it works that way, but now it doesnt. it almost seems like the quest takes note of what "works" and puts it down as an error and tries to fit it by not letting my controller connect
hello I was just wondering what tracking dongles you use
Hey quick questions. Everything worked perfectly. But i noticed my controllers tend to jump around in place where it ruins my aim in most shooters. Would you happen to know why its doing that? Its unable to main tain still even if i am holding very still
Not sure :/ I hope you figured it out, otherwise I'd double check your basestations are on different channels (check in steamVR) and check that your basestations have good coverage, controllers aren't getting occluded, etc.
is it possible to link cv1 controllers to an hp reverb g2? If so, could you make a video on how to do so?
TIP FOR PEOPLE THAT USING OCULUS QUEST 2 WITH ANY MIXED BASE STATION SETUP : WHEN YOU SEE YOUR DEVICE DID NOT IN THE RIGHT PLAYSPACE AFTER A WHILE , YOU CAN TURN OFF THE OCULUS GUARDIAN TO FIX THE PROBLEM ( YOU NEED TO ENABLE DEVELOPER MODE TO GET THIS OPTION )
Where's part 2? :D
I'm considering getting a G2 and specifically using this setup but trying to ensure it works reliably.
Here is my review! My experience is that it is very reliable, as long as the G2 detects your playspace consistently. ua-cam.com/video/bp8of0cPz8I/v-deo.html
@@TappingTV oh, im blind as a bat. thanks.
what if u dont have wmr controllers? but only vive trackers and G2 can u still calibrate?
Yes! Use the headset itself to calibrate with the trackers. Set the headset to be the calibrated object with one of the trackers. Then take off the headset and move it around with a tracker, should hopefully work but let me know if you have issues!
So I was able to pair my index hands but now my left foot tracker won't even track it only shows my right foot and hip.. do you know what I can do to fix that?
could i use these for my quest 2 headset if its on steam vr? (valve index headset broke)
What a dumb question bro
@@mikehunt9993 😓
So, I have a couple of old tracking dongles from vive trackers that were faulty and didn't work out of the box, would those work as the controllers tracking dongles as I already have them and don't feel like buying some just so I can use my index controllers
Yes, those are the same type of dongle!
how would i use a Vive as Dongle ?
im using a quest 3
i already have Full body and 3 dongles for that
i got Knuckles today
now im shit out of luck since i cant connect them
u said a vive can be a dongle aswell just connect the thing or how does that work exactly ?
Connect the Vive HMD with all USB and power connections, just don't connect the HDMI (or Displayport, can't remember which type of connection the Vive had). It should connect to the knuckles that way
I have an HTC vive I'm thinking I can use that instead of the dongles. What would change with the workflow? if anything? thank you!
@@proximityfpv1722 did you get that working same situation here haha
I think there might be a way to save the "profile" in space cal, so that maybe you can switch between profiles without needed to fully calibrate each time(?) but not sure, haven't done that myself tbh.
thanks for this as i hate the ring controllers when i barley got grip

Do steam valve bas stations work with Samsung odyssey plus headset?
does it matter what type of base stations are needed like does it matter if I need index base stations or htc base stations?
so i have this issue with the controllers where the reverb g2 stutter in my hands. how is the tracking improvement with lighthouse and the g2? does it actually make a difference?
Thanks for this. there are a lot of rough edges in VR yet to be smoothed out :(
OpenVR Space Calibrator crashes bonelab when i try loading the hub :/
I wonder if this would work with the vive xr elite
How are you supposed to connect a 2.0 station without the headset for bluetooth?
Basestations are passive -- they just emit laser sweeps, they are not "smart" in any way, and do not require any connection beyond power!
when your done do you need the dongle's to still be in your computer or can you just take them out ?
Hi! the dongles are what connect the controllers to the PC, so you need the dongles to be plugged in anytime you’re using the index controllers (or whichever steamVR device you have paired to them). You can unplug the dongles between play sessions though, and calibrations will still hold :)

Hi! Is there a way to, like, use the CV1 controllers with an wmr headset
Yup! www.reddit.com/r/MixedVR/comments/l42zp4/announcing_oculus_touch_as_mixevr_controller/?
Guys if you are using VIVE controlers for WMR you can use ViVE tracker's dongles (little blue usb dongle)
Goodluck!

@@TappingTV thx for the quick response. Subbed. Guess I'll still have a use for my good old trusty Vive.
How do you make your head set a dongle
Make sure it is plugged into power and USB, and it should be able to pair to two devices (two dongles effectively inside)
