Went thought a couple VR headsets prior to getting a Index in 2020. Sold it 1 year later. Picked up a quest last week. Massive improvement in convenience, clarity, and comfort. Quest 3 looks as good as the index from what i remember. I got out of VR because of the wires and hassle. Quest 3 makes it easy to put on and go. I can put it on and not have to keep adjusting for the focal point and it stays.

I tried a quest 2 for a while and I don't know if this is the same for the quest 3 but the blurring around the edges of vision and low resolution video playback on UA-cam put me off. I sold it, 2 weeks after purchase, for a loss of $100. Also the black and white pass through on the quest 2 was terrible. Very pixelated/grainy. I would only use pass through if I absolutely needed to see my surroundings for a few seconds to pick something up (for example). Also, I found that I couldn't take a sip of my drink with the headset on as the cup would collide with the headset. On top of all that there was the lense fogging (again, I don't know if this applies to the quest 3). I had to leave a small gap around the nose area to stop this happening, which lets in light and distracts from immersion.

The photo and video screen records are stored in the oculus folder. Hope this helps

Bought the Chromecast. Got it set up on my tv. When I open the “cast” option from the camera in the VR headset, I cannot get my TV to come up as one of the options. Any suggestions?

Usually turning on and off reboots the chromecast. Here’s some troubleshooting that might help support.google.com/chromecast/answer/9206302?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid#:~:text=Wi%2DFi%20name.-,Check%20your%20internet%20connection,a%20white%20flashing%20LED%20light.

Thank you for the tips, very helpfull indeed, safety is the most important as when I got my first goggles they were the gear vr goggles and almost broke my ribs crashing into a filing cabinet, luckily it was just bad bruising. But my gear vr goggles died 2 days ago so I have now just ordered the quest 3. fun times ahead

    Handy video.
One issue I am facing is the device keeps forgetting my boundries.
I will sit on the sofa to watch a film in vr and have to create a new boundry. Then go to play a game and its forgotten my roomscale boundry, so i have to recreate that, then i might want to watch a film in bed and I have create that one again.
Coming from the Pico 4 I am used to just truning it on and it either regonising i am in my roomscale or asking me if i want to do seated. I saw in the menu i could delete all boundrys so I am assuming it can support multiple saved ones....but no idea how you switch (its driving me insane lol)

I’ve read that poor lighting or a change in lighting can affect whether it detects the room or not. Also something simple like changing the wall you are facing to help trigger it.

Just remember that-if you’re using one of those little batteries with a USB-C plug built in-if you swing your arm and hit it with your hand too hard, you could easily damage your USB-C port, at which point you have until your headset battery dies before buying a new headset or spending a couple hundred bucks to get your USB port fixed. That’s a lot more than a battery headstrap with a _90-degree, angled plug_ that extends as little as possible from the edge of your headset, in order to avoid doing the same, with that...

Neat video. Definitely helps being that I'm new to this vr stuff. By the way does anybody know how incan increase the quality of the pass through video? Mine is very grainy. Or is this normal? Also, when I first used my quest 3 all the virtual images like the pop up windows were buttery smooth when they appeared in my room using pass through. A few hours later these virtual displays have become jittery. Any clue why this is happening?

Yes you can but you might find your lenses knock on the headset lenses - you might want to consider prescription lenses - take a look at the link in the description

Here's a tip: nothing you will do can make the strap comfortable and if you have hair longer than half an inch, it won't work at at because it relies on friction against a bald head. You hair will just get bunched up and the strap will loosen.
It REALLY shows you what kind of people Meta engineers are.

The strap design is terrible, such a shame as this was their chance to redeem themselves after the quest 2 strap. T

I findnthe strap really comfortable. You just need to undo the velcro and make it long and it sits perfectly. I can used it for several hours straight with no issues
