OMG, Van! This band is 1 of the top pop bands of ALL TIME! Their name, "Three Dog Night", comes from the Eskimo custom of bringing 3 sled dogs to sleep with them in their igloos on extremely cold nights. You simply MUST react to "Joy to the World" - NOT the Christmas carol, but their signature song. A couple of other good ones:. "Black & White", which is about JUST what it sounds like, & "Never Been to Spain", which is as funky as a bunch of pop musicians can get. Love your insights, sir! Thank you.

Why does this song mean something to everyone who hears it? Because every young person who's ever gone to a party, and mama said not to go,can relate. It's one of those great songs that everyone can understand on a personal level.

Three Dog Night was a favorite of a LOT of Jr. High and High School kids back in the day. Most of their fan base had HEARD of parties where there was alcohol and drugs available. But the wildest parties most of us had gone to only had maybe a 6 pack of beer that someone had snuck in. This was just a real fun song about what we all thought we were missing out on. TDN had a lot of really great songs. One of my favorites of theirs is " Never Been to Spain". I enjoy watching your reaction videos. I look forward to seeing more!

This was the first 45 rpm I bought as a preteen, good song. Everyone was looking for escape at that time, Nixon and Vietnam, and the Kent State killings, Jackson State killings had all of the American young people worried about the future and if there was going to be one. Manson trials were happening and that shit was crazy, Watergate was happening, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin passed and the Beatles broke up. 1970 was a difficult year for all.

No matter what generation you from, the music hangs on memories. Because as you go forward with life, you go with new clothes, new ideas, new everything, You forgot about yester year, All of a sudden, you hear a song and the clothes, places, people, feelings repeat itself. You get to be there again for a nanosecond. From a 73 year old lady from Ocean City, NJ, what could be better. Another 20 years and you be in my place---remembering. Thanks for the memories!

I hope you still enjoyed it every time or did it get annoying after a while? Some listeners can’t listen to them like that and still get enjoyment from them. So many great hits & the 3 part harmonies are awesome. Any song by them is good. I would love to see you react to an early one they did from 1968, “Try a Little Tenderness” It’s in B&W but it’s live. That song was on regular AM radio. Never heard any FM Radio in our area til later. In an era of Anti-American, Anti-war, protests of every sort from ecology to love thy neighbor, this song was just one to laugh at. "Cover of the Rolling Stone" by Dr. Hook was another like that.

This song ; the primal version not this one came out in I believe either 1969 or 70 back in the day when it wasn't common to party like that for the average kid hence the warning the person jn the song didn't heed : Mama TOLD me not to come bc that ain't the way to have fun.I was eleven or twelve when this song came out & was having similar experiences

Three Dog Night was super popular just a few years before I came around, but I grew up listening to the music of this era because my parents did (they were young parents). My favorite is “Shambala”. “Joy to the World” is good too. My mom tells me stories of my brother who is 5 years older than me loving that and shouting in his toddler voice “Jeremiah was a bullfrog…” 😂. Wish they had that on tape somewhere! Lol

Three Dog Night was really good. Loved them as a kid. Shambala, Black & White, Easy to Be Hard...

I have a great love for Three Dog Night. I've seen them 3 times and there is not one of their songs that I dislike. Thanks for reacting.

I’m one of those ladies that usually followed my mama’s instructions- not so easy in the sixties!!! Anyway this song proves she was right! I did love the music and the dancing and still do today.

Lol Van, the reason we liked this song because, well, it’s pretty self explanatory 😆💜
