Three Dog Night is a great rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. Some of their hits are "Mama Told Me Not To Come", "One" (written by Harry Nilsson), "Just An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Shambala", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Eli's Coming", "The Show Must Go On", "Joy To The World" etc.
Eli's Coming(Video 3DogsLive, on Soundstage in 1975 is extra special). Old Fashioned Love Song. Mama Told Me Not to Come. One. Black and White. Try a Little Tenderness. Liar. Celebrate. Joy to the World. Shambala.
One of the great bands of my youth. They had 21 Top 40 hits, 11 Top 10 hits and 3 Number One hits. Their music was always played at every party because it's happy and fun and great to sing along with. Saw them in concert in Indy in 2023. They're still out there writing new music and put on a great show.
@GB_slacker i was 5 when they were on the radio. So far our list is starting with Joy to the World and Old Fashioned Love Song. What ones do you recommend?
@@katiewhite9351 I might have you beat. My parents went on their first date to a Three Dog Night concert. One, Sure As I’m Sittin’ Here, Mama Told Me (Not To Come), Black and White, and Shambala should be on the list, too.
Dude, take it from me, you haven't lived until you wear hip-hugger, elephant bell cords, with either a tie-dye or paisley print shirt. And a puka bead necklace. 😂😂😂
I’m 65, grew up on 3 Dog Night. Some songs to sample…’Mama Told Me Not to come’ ‘Shambala’ ‘Eli’s Coming’ ‘Joy to the World’ for a start! Thanks for bringing back the wild days of my youth!
Clothes are not just about style. It was a huge deal to wear long hair and beards in the 60s and 70s. It was a reaction to the narrow, stuffy norms of the dominant culture. It sent both the message of we are not you and we're cool to like-minded people.
Three Dog Night 🎵🎶💗 In my opinion they are one of the most UNDERRATED bands of all time.💔 So much talent, and great songs, instrumentals are great .Thank you for sharing this with us.Great reaction 💗
A Three Dog NIght is so cold on the Alaskan trail, that you need the shared heat from three siberian huskies to stay alive while you sleep. And now, on to this evening's warm and fuzzy song choice.
I'm old :-) And I grew up with Three Dog Night - part of my love for the harmonies (including Crosby Stills Nash and Young ) that has become a Home Free addiction. Thank you! They were great.
Yeah, backups coming in at the second time going to Spain.... Notice the big jump in key there too. Three Dog Night doesn't disappoint: Eli's Coming, Shambala, Mama Told me Not to Come. Check them out!
Their music runs the gamut. They can rock out with Mama Told Me Not to Come, they can play it easy with Out in The Country and everything in between. Great reaction!
Two other groups you would love, who exemplify the sound of the 60s/70s, are Chicago and Blood Sweat and Tears (BST). Both featured horn sections that really compliment the music score.
Three Dog Night actually had three lead singers, they alternated between them. This song, along with several other of their big hits, was written by the great Hoyt Axton.
If you like a bit of soulful rasp in a singing voice, may I suggest some Bob Seger? Turn the Page , Night Moves, and Old Time Rock-n-Roll are three of his classics.
This was one of my brother's favorite songs. He's about a decade older than me and was stunned I hadn't even heard of Three Dog Night. None of my other siblings were really into older music, while my parents were more into classic country. He pulled out a cassette tape of them, and I loved it right away. Years later, my high school marching band played "Joy to the World," a song everyone knew from the radio but no one knew the name. Our cheerleaders loved the song and had a whole dance routine to it. At football games they would shout to the band, "Play Jeremiah!" We did, because the parents in the audience loved it so much and we got our biggest cheers.
"One", "Eli's Coming" and "Joy To The World" are Three Dog Night musts. btw - the two aren't backup singers, the 3 trade off lead vocals. Hence, Three Dog Night. 😀
I loved Three Dog Night! They had so many great records (I'm showing my age - gotta tuck that back in) including: "Mama Told Me Not To Come", "Shambala", "Joy to the World" & "Celebrate". Now that you have heard them, keep checking them out!
My future husband and I had a couple dates at Three Dog Night concerts! (Will be celebrating 49 years in November!) These guys, along with Neil Diamond and Creedence Clearwater Revival were our go-tos for music. Seeing them live was a real experience not to be missed. You need to go through all the titles listed, one by one. You'll love it! Thank you for a great reaction and some awesome memories.
Other great songs include "Joy to the World", "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Pieces of April", "Shambala". Those are the ones I remember from my days listening on the radio. 😏
Thankfully, Corey didn't have his beard for long. Chuck Negron ( dark jacket) best mustache. Danny Hutton is in plaid paisley shirt. 7 member band with 3 lead singers. Listen to Eli's Coming, get to each of their specific voices. One of my favorites is the early version of Try A Little Tenderness. Three dog night" is an expression that refers to a night that is so cold that you need three dogs in bed with you to stay warm.
Of all the concerts I went to in the late 60s/early 70s, Three Dog Night were the best ever, bar none. They were great entertainers. There are lots of great songs by them, many were covers of songs that weren't so successful, and they made them shine. You'll find some great music if you investigate this band. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is a lip-synched performance of the studio recording. I think I saw Corey oops a couple of lyrics.
You have no idea how absolutely great this band is. And, recorded work is stellar - and unlike today - these guys are doing it as music should be done live.
Every new teenage generation hast to try really really hard not to look like their parents or grandparents. That’s how we went from buzz-cuts to Beatles mop tops in just a few years. I think the mustaches go back a few more decades.
This lead singer looks a lot better on the live video of "Eli's Coming". You need to watch that, even if you don't do a reaction to it. Talk about soul! And the other two look better, too.
Now your talking! I love this band, all good, Mama told me not to come, Eli's coming, do live, they are such good performers. Not too mention too sexy for my 16 year old self back then. Oh my....😂. All 3 are lead singers.
Thanks for tossing me back to my college dorm room. These guys were great. I see that others have given you lists of their other songs. Mama Told Me Not To Come is probably my favorite. Or maybe Joy to the World. Or......
I honestly don't recognise these guys at all but that was really interesting. Absolutely not sure what to expect but still, interesting music! Thank you for educating us Bumblebee Whisperer!
This is a Hoyt Axton composition originally and Three Dog Night covered it and another song by Hoyt ''Joy To The World'' ...Ringo Starr covered Hoyt's NO NO NO song that was a huge hit as well
They have 21 top 40 hits. 3 were #1s. From 1969 to 1975. No one sold more records than them during that time. 3 lead singers. You are so right, Cory in the middle, has that sexy sultry voice. Chuck on the left has an amazing range and hits those high notes. Danny to the right has that richness. They are in The Vocal Hall of Fame. You can see each individually in the live version of Eli's coming.
Each one of them sang lead on various songs. They were HUGE back then...one of my favorite bands from when I was a teen. Other songs... ~Old Fashioned Love Song ~Elie's Coming ~Shambala, ~Mama Told Me Not To Come ~The World is Black, The World is White ~Joy To The World (Jeramiah was a bullfrog) ~One Tthere are others but those are the first few that come to mind. Pick any one of them and I think you will be impressed. "Mama told me not to come" is funny...it's about a guy in over his head at a wild party.
Long hair in the 1960's was an act of rebellion. (As described in the song 'Hair".) It got negative response where needed to be a rock or pop star. (Plus most people got the records or listened to the radio so never saw them.) The funniest song I have heard about this is "Pop Hates the Beatles" by Allan Sherman, a song from a parent's point of view. The song I recall hearing for the first time as a child is "Joy To The World".
Three dog night had a lot of his, listen to joy to the world, one, out in the country, old fashion love, shamble, Eli's coming . All the three Singers are lead singers
My favorite is Shambala ( Shangrala, a fictional tropic paradise in the Himalayan mountains, an ideal.) No matter what mood you're in it's going gonna go up five notches.
Just found your channel. Loved your honest -- enthusiastic -- reaction. Just know that this band has 10-15 other excellent songs if you go down their rabbit hole. One a little different, a little mellower, but maybe my favorite is called "Out in the Country".
The 1975 Soundstage live performance has several standouts. I love Cory's soulful voice (Cory Wells is singing lead here) on Try a little Tenderness. The other standout from this performance, for me, is Eli's Coming. Chuck Negron is the super tall guy on stage right. He sang their biggest hit, "Joy to the World". The three singers (Cory, Chuck, and Danny Hutton (stage left here)) are each lead singers. They each sing lead on different songs. Cory and Chuck had more hits than Danny. Hey, Dagmar!! Excellent comment as usual. This is my first time for this reactor. Hope you are well!
As a teen in the 70's we for sure had the best music ever.
You should listen to Eli's Coming, the live version. You haven't begun to hear what their voices can do.
Oh, yeah. Soundtrack of my college days.
Three lead singers, three different vibes. One of my all-time fave groups ❤
🌸 well dude , let me tell you--- some of us actually love the hair from back then ....so there you go
i'm 68 and my old man STILL has really long hair. one of the best trends of the 60s and 70s. Love long hair on guys.
@@karenmandeville7116 thank you!!😁

All of the above!! Start with One!!!
Don’t forget “Liar “ which is a powerhouse.

That's "Joy to the World"!
But he serves a mighty fine wine...

Those long, lean legs and bodies. Pure sex appeal to me.
