  • PoolRx is a simple way to keep your pool algae free all season long. It is also effective in cleaning a green pool and a side benefit of the product is that you will use less chlorine in the pool all season long. In this Podcast I talk to Fred Schweer VP of Sales at PoolRx Worldwide about using PoolRx in the beginning of the season and to clean up a green pool. He also offers tips to pool service professionals on how to market and sell PoolRx to the customers on your route.
PoolRx is a Mineral Technology does two very simple things when used in your pool or spa; it eliminates all algae and will allow you to use less chlorine during the pool season. The active ingredient is Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate (chelated).
What Chelated means is that the metals in the PoolRx have been bonded to form two coordinated bonds similar to what Metal Sequestering Agents do. This means that the Metal Ions will remain in the PoolRx unit with no metal ions being introduced into the pool or spa water. PoolRx is Chelated so the metal ions stay within the PoolRx unit itself.
Make sure that you choose the right size PoolRX unit so that the treatment will be effective. You can place it either in your skimmer or pump basket. When you first insert the unit run your pool for 3-4 hours. Then run it the normal cycle to get at least one full cycle of water from the pool, into the filter and back into the pool again. The PoolRx unit should last 4-6 months.
PoolRx eliminates all algae fast. Even micro algae that you can't see but uses up the chlorine in your pool.
PoolRx is ideal for a salt water pools also. It will extend the life of your salt cell as you run the system at a lower output while PoolRx is present in the pool, typically 50% less output. PoolRx minerals also include a de-scaler that will prevent scale from attaching to the salt cell meaning less cleaning of the cell is needed. Also since it is generating less, the pH won't rise as high requiring less acid to be added to the pool.
You can also use PoolRx to clear up a green pool. Fred goes over the process in detail in the Podcast
and I have done this myself so I know it is very effective. Just remember that a lot of the minerals will be used up in clearing up the pool so a Booster Pack will be needed.

If you are a homeowner purchasing PoolRx for your pool will save you money on all of your chemicals including chlorine (liquid or tablets), clarifiers, Phosphate Removers and Shock. The price of the PoolRx unit will pay for itself over the course of the season and as a bonus your water will remain algae free. So the $60-$90 investment is well worth it and to get your money's worth add the PoolRx right at the beginning of the seaon.
For the Pool Service Professional PoolRx is something that you would add on and charge your customers for. Customers differ and some may want a detailed explanation of what PoolRx does and is while others will not mind at all. To help in this PoolRx has a section on their website dedicated to Pool Service Professionals. You must register first and then you will have access to documentation and form letters that you can send to your customers.
If you are a Pool Service Professional and need the form letters to help sell PoolRx to your customers go to their website and register your business or use the password below.

One question I would want answered is how do you know when it is time to add the booster minerals. Are there certain things you look for in your chemistries or is it more you start seeing algae in the pool with good parameters

Just when you notice more chlorine use (chlorine level dropping lower than previous) and algae appearing.

My conditioner levels are now under control was 130 PPM... i fix that ... is now 50 PPM. Now that was a learning experience believe me... no one told me that a floater that has those chlorine tabs in it had a limit to how much cyanuric acid it will put into a 15K gallon pool and how quickly or how much is good or bad... and how it will slow down the chlorine from doing it's job... i know that it is very important to have a UV protector called conditioner or cyanuric acid... to stop the UV rays from removing my chlorine in one day now that was another learning curve... but to much cyanuric acid will not let chlorine from making my pool green. which is another nightmare.... then i found out after 4 years that i must use PHOSfree to stop the green aglae from growing in my pool it will bind the PPB of phosphate together to make them larger and it did just that and catch it at the diatomaceous earth pool filter i have and it worked great. now after 2 weeks i go to sweep the side of pool and no green growing on side of pool walls ??? Wow i so happy that stuff really works PHOSfree ...

One of the main things about this product is do not use it with high conditioner levels. Other than that you're good to go. Clean the filters before using. Thats it. Simple

Yes. It works fine in high CYA pools.

Pool Rx at $70 each unit is about $12 per month. But using liquid chlorine alone only around $7.50 per month so Pool Rx not cost effective. Especially because Pool Rx is only a supplement and you still need to use some chlorine also

    • @SPL
      @SPL  Рік тому

It varies by region. A gallon of liquid chlorine in CA is about $7.00 per. So more like $30-$40 a month. And bigger pools even more.

i hate to install 8 OZ each week of that PHOSfree into my skimmer, this PoolRX will stop this ??? or do i still have to use Phosp free from leslie pool supply ??? now i just called Leslie pool supply and the manager said i still need to use a PHOSfree product to help remove all phosphates ??? but at 3:40 he said no need for a Phosphate remover... so Leslie pool managers at 3 stores i called said i still need to buy Phospfree and use it ??? why are they uneducated on PoolRX ... He said @ 2:56 i will use 50% less chlorine ... WOW... love that...

Once you put the PoolRX unit in there is no need for the PHOSEFree maintenance dose each week. I rarely use it on my route anymore. It doesn't matter what the phosphate level is since PoolRX will eliminate the microalgae.

@@johncasor9698 Typically these are seasonal.you get a summer out of it. However when it cools down keep it inside and just use booster next season with the same RX. I personally just recommend buying a new RX every season.

You may or may not need the booster. I have done green pool clean ups with it and didn't use a booster after.
