  • The one thing I always stress is getting the right pool equipment for your business or your home as this will make the job of cleaning a pool that much easier. Purchasing the right equipment does impact your budget so I stress getting your finances in order so that you have the resources to invest in the right stuff. I am going to focus on three things here that will make your service day that much easier.
A Vacuum System is a must-have. I like the Riptide, Power Vac and Bottom Feeder. All three would be great choices and I have videos on all of them on my Channel. Let me focus on the Riptide here and you can see some of the great features of a vacuum system.
The Riptide is designed to pick up debris on the pool floor in an efficient and rapid manner. It picks up a large amount of leaf debris without scattering it all over the place as a leaf rake would. So it will cut your cleaning time down by more than half or less making your day that much easier. I use the Riptide on just about all my pools as it does a great job also with sand and dirt. Only the very fine dust will get through the standard 100-micron bag so not only will it speed up your day on pools with larger leaf debris but also on your regular light debris accounts.
Currently, the SL Model sells for $1,700. To learn more and to order visit their website: www.riptidevac...
A Water Tech Battery Powered vacuum is the next thing I suggest you purchase. They make many great models and you can start with the pool Blaster MaxLi or the Volt FX-8Li. If you really want to move up to a heavy duty model the Precision 2.0 would be my choice for you.
I have been using the Precision 2.0 on my pool route now or over a year and it has held up great during that time. It really speeds up my day out there and with the sand-silt bag it picks up fine dirt and debris making vacuuming small pools and spas a breeze. If you service pools and are looking for a vacuum that will make your day easier and faster check out the Precision 2.0.
One thing that I like about the cleaner is how well it has performed over the year. Being able to recharge the battery in my truck is also a plus. I get over 1 hour of cleaning time with each battery, so while one is in use the other is charging. The shell of the Precision is also very durable and so far no issues to report after one year of everyday use.
The Precision comes with two Lithium Ion Batteries that will last longer and are much lighter than their previous batteries. Also included is a car charger that you can use to charge the battery while you are driving around on your pool route. Each battery will last for about one hour of continuous use. It takes about 4 hours to charge the batteries from the wall charger, less time for the car charger.
A good pool pole is a must also. It is your primary tool so it needs to be the best. The Primate Pool Pole would be a solid choice. This is probably the most unique 3-piece pool service pole (Tri-Pole) that I have ever used. The Primate 3X Pole is also the most compact and lightweight pole that I have used also. It collapses down to 6 ft and extends to 15.6 ft and weighs only 2 lbs. 4 oz. Oh, and it is made from Carbon Fiber making it 3 times stronger than a standard aluminum pole.
For me, the main selling point of the Primate 3X Pole is how light this pole is! It weighs just 2.4 lbs. so you barely even feel like you are holding a service pole. It is amazingly light and easy to carry and use. After using it for a week I feel like I couldn’t go back to a standard pole because of how light the Primate pole is. I feel like something this light can’t be strong enough to use day and day out, but the Carbon Fiber Material is deceiving. The pole is 3 times stronger than an aluminum service pole making it a great choice for everyday pool service use. The manufacturer doesn’t claim it is indestructible, but it sure feels like it, especially with the reinforced first section of the pole.
Does not absorb temperature like metal, will never be scalding hot or ice cold to the touch.
    Better grip/traction than aluminum.
Because of its strength (does not bend or warp) it moves through water easier when submerged.

When clients request maintenance just once a month how do you schedule your visits? Do you still visit the pool weekly for a checkups/adjustments? Or do you just visit once a month? I dont understand how one could visit just once a month without input from the customer?

Never do anything except weekly service. No bi-weekly or no monthly. Too much can happen in one week and then you are getting paid for the service visit but doing twice or 3 times the work. You lose money and customer saves money. Pass on anything that isn't weekly.

Hammerhead vacuum is the best hands down. Riptide has good customer service but not so good vacuum. I clean about 23 pools a day and hammerhead is faster to clean a pool due to less steps to get it in and out of water. Plus riptide has some flaws that annoy me unlike the hammerhead vacuum

Fly Low Joe yup I am going to have to agree with you on the riptide. My buddy has one and I didn't like at all plus at that price hammer head or power vac will do a better faster job. Maybe in a couple of years the riptide can improve it.
