I noticed if they intentionally duped a product, the price is higher. Like the new sunscreen is a Supergoop dupe and the new lippie is a Nars dupe and the price is higher. I noticed that they didn't do that with the Camo concealers and powder foundation though, but did with the CC cream.
Excellent point!! I'm glad you brought that up. I feel like the texture of the new lipsticks is a lot like BITE... might have been unintentional on their part, but super similar texture!
The packaging is also a lot better on those products too which probably goes towards the prices. Also the formulas are really good too.

I tried the new essence blushes and sadly was underwhelmed. Pretty shades but idk what’s so special about them. No glow or sheen either
Elf has upped their quality so much, to the point where I can do a full face of elf and it looks as good as if I used a higher brand. They also have the beauty squad program which allows you to get full size samples at times or $10 off each time. They have fantastic customer service. They take care of their customers for sure!!

Agreed! I'm part of the beauty squad. I only buy and stock up on skincare during their 40% to 60% off sales throughout the year and use my $10 beauty squad discount, so I'm still paying similar prices to ELF back in the day but getting much higher quality products! When it comes to ELF, wait for the sales! They make it so easy!

28:08 I don't get the complaints about that Elf lipstick being $9 when the same thing from Nars is $34 dollars, in fact Elf's package is even more luxurious with the soft touch feel. Both lipsticks apply the same, wear the same. People are backwards 😂😂🤣🤣🤣 they don't like Elf offering a luxury product at an affordable price instead of realizing Nars is a rip off marking products 4 times more expensive 🤔🙄SMH

Elf is killing it lately. Brush’s are great and love holy hydration line. I don’t mind paying a little more for higher quality.Their $1 products did not really impress me.

Somebody finally got it. I tried to love their cheap lipsticks but still went back to Revlon despite Super Lustrous standing for everything this current generation detests (it's not cruelty free and a thousand other stuff) but it WORKS.
Exactly I don't mind the higher prices with quality products and nicer packaging.
@@lipstickzombie4981 Yes, the younger generation is demanding “clean” products (whatever that means) and these brands are doing that and it makes the prices go up. I get the animal cruelty and I totally agree with that. I don’t ever want an animal to be mistreated just so that I can wear makeup. You would think that now that companies don’t have to pay for testing on animals the products would go down at least a little. I don’t like the “clean” stuff though. They want no preservatives added and then your makeup goes bad in a couple of months!! I got that Tower28 mascara that everyone raved about from a “clean” company and it’s already starting to dry out and I’ve only had it for three weeks and have barely used it. Makeup needs preservatives to make it last and to destroy bacteria. I’ll never buy anything claiming to be clean again if I can help it.

Emily, I need to see you compare the new Covergirl Clean quads, the Wet N Wild quints, and Elf bite size quads. As far as small, compact, travel size palettes I get overwhelmed and want to know which ones you think are best. To me they all seem to be kind of trying to dupe one another and nobody has compared all 3 to each other.
I felt the same with NYX they used to be so cheap now some eyeshadow palettes are almost $40. I must say NYX improved last year for sure but still not the affordable brand it was years ago. Hope wet n wild stay affordable always.

The Ordinary prices have gone up 2 or 3 times since Biden was elected. Everyone was worried their prices would creep after they were bought by a big corporation. Elf website had a great after Christmas sale. I got several of the bitesize eyeshadow palettes marked down to 1.60 each. My favorite is the Rosewater. It reminds me of Clinique Black Honey palette but the Elf quality is better and for 1.60 I couldn't believe how good it is. I'm looking for a Too Faced Peach lipstick called Sunday Funday which was discontinued 2 years ago and hard to find now. That lipstick was like the Bite, really thick and filled in lines. I will be looking for this Elf lipstick to see if the lightest shade is like Sunday Funday from Too Faced. I got the Elf CC cream foundation and I didn't like it. My shade was way too light but the consistency didn't dupe the It cosmetics one.
Keep us updated on the eye make up remover please. As a woman of ehem, a certain age, I look for an eye make up remover that is gentle and doesn’t sting but actually take off everything. It seems to be a unicorn 🦄
Try micellar water! I've used and loved Garnier's All in One (waterproof) and (replumping) formulas, and am currently using Simple brand for sensitive skin. All three of these have worked great for me on all kinds of eye makeup and even on water- resistant tinted sunscreen. I'm 63, with sensitive, dry-leaning skin with moody rosacea patches, and micellar water has been my go-to for several years now.
I use the Neutrogena make-up remover in the small size blue bottle it removes. Everything and it does not sting my eyes I hope it can work for you
Ponds is the first wash then Take It Off, Lotion wash by Estée Lauder (from TJ Max) for the 2nd wash!
I use Ponds makeup remover. It's the only one that doesn't sting my eyes, and it leaves a softness to the skin, even after cleansing.

Elf is still one of the cheapest options at the drugstore. Have you seen Nyx's and L'Oreal's prices?? Omg they are almost at the prestige level now. Their products aren't better than other drugstore brands really either, so Idk why their prices are so inflated. A $14 glowy sunscreen, you can't beat that imo. They have been duping a lot and compared to their counterparts, the prices are very affordable. They really have improved the quality of their products while keeping their prices very reasonable imo. I love elf.
Yes! Elf isn't cheap anymore, I understand that everything goes up in price but its not the first brand I choose to buy anymore at their prices.

Love both of those lipsticks on you! You mentioned eye makeup removers- Elf makes the Holy Hydration Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm. Very gentle and easy to use. I follow it with a gel cleanser.
When you were talking about the bed having “cooling technology” I thought you were talking about the brow pencil for a minute😂I was like, “what will they come out with next!?”
I love the hard candy better as well. I also love the Revlon Grip primer. Not sure there is much grip, but it has some great blurring effects. My makeup lasts really good, all day!!

Omg - we’ve had a sleep number bed for like 8 years and we still LOVE IT! I will never buy another bed ever.
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I'm buying way less makeup these days and making more thoughtful and purposeful decisions and so when I do buy something I don't mind spending a bit more on it if the packaging is higher quality because I actually want it to last until I'm done with the product (and of course the product needs to be good too).
Also love the power grip primer! The stickiness is what makes it worthwhile for me. Its the only primer I own and feel like actually makes a difference when I do wear it when I need my makeup to stay for a long time. Otherwise not a primer girl at all.

Hey Emily! Thanks for this video! And, not only did Elf's bite size blush-highlighter duos disappear from Ulta's website, but I think they're totally gone from stores now! This slow fade has been going on for months, and it's like they're getting ready for a relaunch - at what will no doubt be much higher prices! Elf has pretty much become a dupe brand. They're probably investing more in creating these dupes so it's clearly working out for them. Milani is trying to make more dupes now too. Wet N Wild and Essence are the few who are staying affordable (for now).
Loved the video as always Emily....I do agree with you that Elf is raising its prices...they are improving things but we customers are feeling it...I'm wondering if the Believe makeup at Dollar is starting to take Elf's position...how about a comparison video between Elf and Believe... with prices rising in groceries, utilities, gas, we need affordable makeup ....what do you think?
Oh, no, that's not a "mini", nor a "travel" size. That's a sample. Come on now, ELF!
I find that elf is more expensive than people even realize. Price comparison ounce for ounce with other drug store brands it's the same price or even more expensive. Sometimes the price is upwards of high end prices based on what you pay per ounce. A lot of the products seem affordable, like the foundation for $6, but it's only 1/2 ounce bottle of product.
It's like Elf and many other manufacturers are counting on we consumers to get bored with products, so they change packaging or even just one ingredient and sell smaller amounts for more money!
That's true. A few years ago, I compared the Makeup Melt remover (this was the one before the Holy Hydration version) and the Clinique Take Off The Day remover, and the Clinique was only a few pennies more, ounce per ounce! I love the Elf Flawless Finish foundation. And it's one of the few foundations where I actually can find a good shade match.

Give the mascara a couple days. It settles in and is sooooo good. It's replaced Lash Princess for me. And I'm testing the woah glow to see how it works on my mature oily skin. So far, so good.
I don’t understand how their stuff is so expensive when it’s made in China. Wet n Wild is cheaper and makes a lot in USA or Mexico. I don’t buy makeup or skincare made in china anymore

I like elf but I've been gravitating toward brands that keep their prices lower like essence and wet n wild, and older products from nyx, revlon, covergirl, etc. Like I want to look good, but every dollar counts!

I just placed an ELF order from their actual website, which I've never done. I do like their new sunscreen, but if you get too much, it pills and flakes off like CRAZY. I would not repurchase bc I want to be able to use the right amount of sunscreen. But that glow thing (duping Charlotte Tilbury) is STUNNNING

I scored a bunch of those bite sized ones on elf’s site new year sale for $1.24 each. Bought several to donate to nursing homes to use for prizes when residents play games and get to choose a prize the ladies can get some shadow. I’ve done nail polishes too.
I love the hylaloronic acid! The woah sunscreen not to happy with and the new luminous bronzer not a fan very stiff, original power grip primer I threw out! Way to sticky for me!

Well the packaging and quality is way better than it was when the brand sold everything for $3 and $6. Plus inflation. Also elf is still cheaper than Loreal, Maybelline, etc from the drugstore. I mean Loreal foundations are upwards of $20 nowadays. And when you buy minis of like high-end brands it would be that size for like $15. So the way I see it is as long as their stuff is good and not crazy expensive I'm here for it.

I agree about Elf. Even the eye primer from their basic line has went up by a whole $1 and the brow lift pencil went up by a $1 too. I could see going up by a few cents but a whole $1? Plus, I don’t like that they are making deals like only selling a certain product of theirs at Target or Ulta. Those stores are over two hours away from me. Yes, I could order from Ulta but instead of paying $14 for the Halo Glow I ended up paying $21 when you add in the shipping. Walmart’s are everywhere. Why are they only putting their most popular products in certain stores?? It’s frustrating!!
