We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acre homestead. We just finished building our log cabin in 2018. Now we are focused on trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey we continue to develop our homestead and farm, while becoming more self sufficient.

The right couple ended up owning this property, you have done a remarkable job.
You and Rebekah have done a great job! You have a beautiful homestead!
You and Rebekah must be very proud of what you have accomplished on that property. You have turned it into a beautiful homestead, and I look forward to following your continuing adventure.
And added considerable value.
Hi.... Evan and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
You may want to start making trips over there or set up some game cameras to watch that part of your property cause you are right about the meth problem
I’m looking forward to a 500 gallon smoker build!!!
Wow, you’ve come a long ways! You’ve put in so much work and your property looks so nice now.
We've looked at property that had multiple abandoned mobile homes and several huge trash piles on it that would require thousands to remove and dispose of properly. We totally understand how that should all factor into the asking price for the property. It's a lot of work and money to remove all that and dispose of legally.
Me too Andrew. They've done a phenomenal job with this property.
Been watching since the beginning so I did get to see all the houses and barns removed, lots of sweat equity.
The people that were their before…. Wow! Less than human! You took on a massive project and have done very well with it.
I thought I had to get rid of lot of junk in my place. But I think you'll win the prize. Your hard work pays off. You all have a good- looking place and it just gets better with time.
Great job. You guys have come a long way. should be proud.
The not-so-pretty side of buying neglected property. What an achievement to turn it into what you have, not just the house and pond, but clearing, grass, fencing etc.
Way to go - worth every penny to get that place cleaned up - have done same on our land, so much satisfaction - making your land look great and helping to keep America looking great! 🇺🇸
Lot of work did a good job. I wish people would clean up there property before they pass on.
Goodness me, so much work and money to clean that all up. ❤
For a dead end lane like that you can always use a trail camera or hunting camera with cellular access to know exactly who is doing what on your property.
We've cleaned up several properties over the years and we always came out ahead. It's a good feeling to clean a place up.
I had no idea how awful the property was when you purchased it. Makes what you've done even more impressive. I'm glad that removing the double wide is the last of the structures that needs to come down.
"There goes that beautiful couch." 😂
Farm/Ranch life, metal is a premium commodity, especially steel. If you can't afford to buy and item, you make it.
Wow !!
I'm glad that here we have a metal recycling center that buys aluminum . Old Mobile homes make a lot of money here.
Hello Evan and Rebecca
I remember when you. Started cleaning up.
You have come far pilgrim. thanks for sharing.
That is a lot of money, not only for what was torn down in the past, but this mobile that is being torn down now. Wise decision, especially if the rumors are true. Thanks for sharing. I hope you have good weather for the cutting of the hay. Y'all have a Blessed day.
You are doing awesome
Usually a local Volunteer Fire Department will do practice burns to bring down unwanted buildings.
Great job to you and Rebecca! You guys have come a long way and should be proud.
Thank you for sharing all of this with us! Your property looks amazing now and it’s a testament to your hard work!
Enjoy the video Evan on one building to tear down .
Evan and Rebecca have the best channels on you tube for real life country living in my opinion. Y’all never preach to your viewer like a lot of others do and you always show your mistakes. I’ve learned so much from y’all and really appreciate you and wish you the best.
Thank you for sharing your adventures 🙏.
Wow!! Lots of Work and $! But look what you guys have done!! You should be Proud of Yourselves!! God Bless and have a Wonderful Evening! ❤🌻
The property is looking better and better. Keep working at it!
Wow, hoarding… 😵💫 How wonderful that the old cemetery is next to your property 🕊️
Tank Would make an awesome offset smoker if it doesn’t hold air
we tore down a single wide trailer on our farm. You did it the right way. It took us pretty much an entire summer of our free time to take off the aluminum, all the paneling and insulation and then cut up the frame into pieces to haul away. Rented a cut saw to cut the frame. cost me 204 bucks. we got 195 dollars in scrap. So, lost 9 bucks on that clean up. I enjoy your channel because I thought I had a similar situation where we live.... a farm that had lots of clean up to do. But, after this video, I see I was lucky. haha. I give you sooo much credit because I know what it is like to do just 50 percent of what you have done. Keep up the good work.
Hey 👋 Evan you and Rebecca are doing a great job with your property it's beautiful. ❤
Evan you have done a great job cleaning up this property.
Evan, I think you and Rebekah have done a great job building a homestead. I know it wasn't in the plans, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Now, the last building is gone, and you can breathe a sigh of relief. Just a little longer, and you can get a new car. I am so glad we got to witness 1 of the buildings being removed. Have a great weekend!
You definitely bought aess, but you and Rebekah have turned it into a paradise in a relatively short amount of time.
Dang! A double-wide guesthouse, fully furnished, and you didn't invite a single subscriber to hang out for a weekend with free accomodations. I'm terribly shocked!😅
Wow Evan, country view acres is a large homestead
You guys have accomplished so much 🎉
What a surprise, a big surprise. And you didn’t even say anything about it. Another big job for you. God bless. ❤be safe.
40 x 60 with 12 foot lean-to on side and the back. Total foot print is 52x76. Garage Doors are 10x12.
Taking over country properties is harder than many think. My wife and I took over her mother's property. Old barn, old mink sheds, a couple of old cars, and several just piles of junk from multiple owners. We also had acres of fields overgrown with willow brush. The work we are doing is why I started my UA-cam channel. Keeping my kids up to date.
I'm so glad your amazing property has such a dedicated couple rejuvenating it. I have some work ahead of me to rejuvenate mine.
Thanks Evan
a lick of paint new curtain s ready to rent lol
Nothing like cleaning up other peoples messes. It would feel like a huge weight lifted from your shoulders when those buildings were gone. Nice video of huge land improvements.
Thank you for sharing that about the double wide. You should be very proud of what you have done with your property, it looks so good.
If the propane tank can’t be certified, maybe a good tank for diesel
Or a huge BBQ grill /smoker combo 👍💯✌
Can also cut the ends off and make a couple really nice fire pits.
Very interested in seeing you pressure test that tank. I guess they fill it with water and pressurize that so it is safer if it fails?
Called hydrostatic testing and yes much safer than air mediums .
love watching everything you and Rebecca do. wish I was 20 years younger
It's pretty sad how people dont appreciate and take care of their things. But it's good you and your wife came along because you have improved that property's value by so much. Good job!!!
Man, the work never ends. You have turned that place around and looks great now.
Great work sir.
Can't wait for the bridge :) I was thinking watching those clips at the end I am glad you guys ended up with it and cleaning it up and putting it back to work :) God bless always enjoy your videos
better to be safe then sorry! glad you got rid of it before anything happened! if anything
Outstanding reclamation!
Absoloutely incredible what you have achieved. Just shows what hard workers you are. Whenever I go on UA-cam, your channel is the first one I check for new content. Good luck to you both, with all your future endeavours, from Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK.
Frames ,axels could make hell of haying trailer or even chicken coop some homesteaders make mobile chicken coop tractor
Propane tank is not pass pressure test make fantastic wood heater or possibly covert into smoker/ bbq
Yikes…that is quite a mess that was left for you to clean up. Sorry for cost of huge expensive cleanup that was not part of your annual goals but understand the necessity of the expense. Hoping all goes well and that the propane tank and braces turn out to be useful additions to the homestead. Will take some of the sting out of the demolition.
Good luck with the haying!!!
thank goodness my abandoned farm just had some trash piles and scarp heaps, ive managed to save the buildings quite inexpensively
Wow, very cool!! Glad you guys got a good little Start on that project. Things have come a long way. Keep up the good work
Better to solve a problem early, than to have to fix several problems down the line.
You did good, as when rumors start, its to test the waters, nothing changes, then they know its out of sight out of mind, as you said , that's when they start doing shady shit.
There was a lot of buildings on that property that was way past being any good, but the farm is looking really good now, so you and Rebecca have done a great job of restoring the property to what it is today and still improving as you go.
You should keep those frames of the house trailers and cut them shorter and make a trailer to haul round bales out of the field, you could move alot at one time.
That's a good idea. I will keep that in mind.
Ok that was kinda cool seeing the demolition
Great Video Evan , Hunter And Joe might of been making Meth and other Deals back there 😂
Yeah Evan. You and Rebekah brought hillbilly heaven. You would had to have paid me to buy it at my age. 20 years younger I might have bit my tongue and cussed along before I handed over that check. But all in all the correct new overlords of the property moved in. Mine I got, I looked long time, but did take a 2 week camping trip on place to see exactly what all I purchased. Enjoyed boyscouting for those 17 days.
Great Job with the property. Getting rid of a trailer can be costly. I would of done a deconstuction and taking any metal to the scrap yard.
Wow! Just wow. Looking tons better now though.
I remember seeing pics of an old green house at the beginning of your channel.
Wow .that's all I got
Can you install a locking gate at the entrance to prevent trash being dumped on your property. I'm still a bit confused where that area is in perspective to your house? Perhaps you can post some drone footage. And finally, is the only way to reach that property via the old road? This video was fun to watch. 👍👍👍
That trailer would be getting advertised at $1000-1200 a month here.
Caretakers of the land. Glad that you and Rebecca are taking care of the land.
All of the improvements were well worth the work. You have made some major changes and the property is now pulling together nicely. Good work! Hope the weather cooperates with you and you guys continue to stay well and positive. Thanks for the video.
Great video Evan, can't wait to see how the hay cutting and round bailing goes.
Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and spend the money now. Don't fret over it it's done so there. Look forward, now you can reclaim that area at your leisure without having to spend a lot of cash later you can just rearrange the area as you see fit, just as you're doing now. Great job
Great video👍👍👍
growing up in rural Illionois in the 70s and early 80s. I total understand what you have found and have had to clean up on the property. good job and please keep up on the good work.
Your done real good cleaning up, very nice place
I bought 40 acres similar to yours. There were piles of trash all over. I also had tons of tires to haul off. The EPA had a tire drive and I took them to that. The EPA guy started to lecture me on hoarding tires. I stopped him right there and explain the situation. There was old cars and farm equipment everywhere. Looked a lot like yours. My wife said we were the only ones fool enough to buy it. I feel your pain. Good job.
You did the right thing looks great !
Caterpillar awesome excavator
keep up the good work
Hi from Vancouver Island, love your channel. I saw one where you listed a few channels with farmimg that you like to watch, could you again list some,I also watch Just a Few Acres thanks for quality videos

Thanks for sharing. 😎
Really have done a great job. ❤
Just goes to show what can be done in what I think is a short space of time 😊 8 years.. 😮.. I'd be needing about 15 ... . Cracking video and thank you for sharing it with us.. stay safe 🏴
Wow that was a surprise Even. It’s good it’s gone now. No one can trespass and camp up in the back property. Looking forward to the next video. I see the duck weed is thinning out. ❤
Thanks for sharing and yes you need to make sure no drugs done on your place, Now you got another part of your land to do some thing to work with
Showing the amount of hard work is a good life lesson for many thinking of doing this. Bravo sir!
that tank looks like a great smoker...
Wow!!! Hopefully millions of young people see this and understand the vision, thoughtfulness, commitment, hard work, $$$, sacrifice, time it takes to fulfill one's dreams! The art of living, accomplishing the tasks before us each day...Chaos to order, the surprise is, joy in the process with a little pain & suffering + help from community. God bless youzzz & keep youzzz in palm of His Hand...beautiful
That tank would make a bad ass barbecue grill
You can always make a rain barrel out of that propane tank on split it and make to colossal water troughs!
with a little modification that propane tank would make one he'll of a smoker
