I watched a vid of a goat farmer in Scotland. When he put the males in w the females to breed it was his habit to paint the males belly. When he saw that paint on the females rear end he knew those had been bred. !
If you intend to use that PTO generator for backup I hope you put it in a readily accessible place. I love these videos and I like the project videos too. In other words I like all your videos. lol.
Just a heads up. It is better to feed the sheep well during early development of lambs, as it will prevent absorption of the fetuses, then all of a sudden, your ewes are not pregnant. You back off on the feed during the last 4 weeks, by 25-30% for 2 reasons. It will keep the lambs from getting too big and make it harder for them to deliver. Second, Too rich of a diet during the last 4 weeks, can set your ewes up for Pregnancy toxemia, which is lethal for the ewes and lambs. So, make sure the lambs are well established by feeding them well now. I hope this helps.
@@primer50 Well, we used to have milk cows when I was a child…. But it is not only the skinnyness. I never see them eat, there is no grass growing (nor really was in the summertime) and when they get treats they get very little but they always come running (for food?). It is just that other farmer show food lefts over to show the cattle can not be too hungry;) But I understand it is none of my business. You commenting on the sheeps triggered my writing. But in fact, I do hope they know the cows needs.
@@primer50 I certainly do know that! Usually, these farmers are eager to show how well they treat their animals as usually do Evan and Rebecca, also. I watch several of these channels and approve very much of what they do.
@ABR7777 A Jersey cow will always look skinny. It is their breed. This breed needs grain to produce calves and A2/A2 milk, and for proper joint and lung health. If you wait to breed them at 2 years old instead of 15 months, they will produce calves for an additional 4-6 years. The bulls and steers will muscle up and fatten. The bulls were used as oxen to pull Conestoga wagons. When harvested, their fat is yellow and tastes like butter. I could go on and on, but it may bore you.
I guess winter is like a semi vacation....there is always something to do on the homestead, just not so intense. Thanks for sharing your very full days. It will be interesting to see what you decide to build or add to, or repair. First thing better be the water trough so you don't have the high water bills next summer. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Chugging along nicely there Evan and Rebekah. Animals look happy and healthy.. As you slowly make your way into winter , here in the West coast of Australia we are getting ready for a blistering hot summer. Enjoy your peaceful winter.. Thanks heaps for sharing.. 🐴🦌🐮🐐🐑🐏🐖🐄🐃🐂🐇🐓🐔🦆🐥🐤🐣🦉🦃
Great video Evan always a pleasure seeing you work with your animals its nice to see you are slowing down for the winter season can't wait for you to get more animals this spring thank you for sharing blessings to you and your family
I love seeing the chicken running around the place but I have a feeling you might get little surprises next spring after some of the hens disappeared for 3 weeks 😀
It's great watching your videos, Evan & Rebekah/Rebecca (I don't know which spelling you use). Just thinking about your water costs, with your bank barn & pole barn (and even your house) you could consider a water storage system to provide "free" water for the pastures. Enjoy slowing down for winter, though I suspect you'll have some interesting projects for the season.
Another awesome video. You’ve both done so well I remember when you first got the property and it’s totally a different place now. All your hard work is paying off
My mom and dad grew up in northern Mich.on farms in the 20s and 30s,plenty of family still lived up there so we visited often, we went to my dad's brothers alot and when we did my aunt would always kill a chicken for dinner and make homemade egg noodles, I still wish for them today, great memory.
You guys have really made a huge difference on that run down farm. We have rebuilt a couple of farms in similar shape but now we are in our 70's and those days are behind us. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 y'all!
I agree with what you're saying, we spend most of our time in the summer doing what needs to get done in preparation for the winter, i.e. haying, building fence, cleaning out bedding, weeding the garden, etc....Your place is looking good, there was a lot for you two to do, both of you are getting it there! I hope you two have a great Friday and weekend ahead!
For your water situation i would suggest just running water for 30 mins a day or something, instead of leaving it run all the time, for no more animals than what you have and how big of tanks you have they will have plenty of water
Love your videos. I do have a suggestion for you. The youngest calf has horns. If you don't get them taken care of and remove them when the calf grows up it will use those horns to bully the other calf even though the other one is older. Just a thought. Now is the time. Good luck.
Thanks for sharing with us Evan and Rebecca. It really does look great around there and so glad that you are all ready for winter. Get your tags filled and in the freezers and enjoy the Holidays , stay safe and have fun. Fred.
Haven't heard any updates with the tractor tires widened out.....is it working better was it worth the adjustment? Keep up the movies. I look forward to watching your UA-cam before I go to bed. So thanks. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from my family here in Washington
Your farm just keeps looking better & better! Obviously as a result of both of you working diligently. While also enjoying the journey. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures in farm living by producing and sharing great videos. The content is aways interesting, and Evan your camera work is great. Sometimes I think I can almost smell Rebeca’s home made noodles! I wish you & yours a very Happy & Blessed Thanksgiving!
I was wondering if you were still what can I getting the custom log cabins and if you're gonna build 1 it was wondering if you're gonna put that as your future home I really think you should check it out thank you and I think like to see more content of your videos
I won't tell you what to do, but when I park my lawn tractor in an open shed like that the mice chew up the wiring harness if I'm not moving it regularly.
Was that water bill for 1 or 2 months. Our bill for 1 month is almost $100 and we don't water any animals, just our garden once in awhile. We live in a tiny town in North Eastern Oklahoma.
Hello enjoyed your video. How come you are not taking water from your pond? It probably better than the water your buying???? I can understand for the house. Have a great day
The animals in summer go through about 150 to 200 gallons of water a day. The water hydrants are already in the pasture and easy to use. About 1000 feet of water lines would need to be trenched in, as well as a permanent water pump and water filtration system. That's just a not a simple task. Using the existing water is the easy way to do it.
You can buy a FLUME which is a device that you can put on your water meter and there is a app on your phone which will show if there is a leak PLUS it will show each hour how much water has been used or if none it will not show any uses, I have one and it is PERFECT and I check my phone app to see usage etc.
They do have at least one. It was contaminated with some animals that fell in, and I don't think it produced a lot of water. Haven't heard an update on it in a while.
Hi.... Evan and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Rebecca was using the wrong end of the room😂😂😂 to push that steer
I like your cows 🐄 and sheep 🐑 and huffers and chickens 🐔 and calefs and goats and pigs 🐖
Maybe film Country View Kitchen in your spare time.😉
Those noodles look awesome. Rebecca is very ambitious.

As always great video mate and as always hope you and your wife and family are doing well god bless you all
I hope one of your wintertime projects is putting the Allis back together again.

No shortage of work on the farm. Enjoy your slack time in the off-season. Thank you for sharing.🐂
Time to slow down even if its just a little bit. Relax and enjoy life and each others company.
That first piece of chain they found is a gathering chain for a corn header on a combine, I think!
Ya the chain looks like it came off of an old corn picker. Probably a one or two row picker.
Nice way to end the day. Thanks for the video. 🤠
Awww, the cows and sheep. ❤

@country view acres I love seeing the food you guys make :)
My water bill is 90 dollars a month for .5 acres. Consider yourself lucky!
Could you put a brush in with the pigs and one in with the cattle? They all seem to love them.

The pigs last year, also, really liked that old hog house. If you tear it down, will you make a new one for them?
They will have to have some shelter- im sure Evan will build something
Yes, we would probably have to build a new one.
Another enjoyable video. Suggestion is to put the generator in the barn last so it easily accessible
The generator is the first thing in the side door, it isn't blocked by anything.
