Gray Primer Paint amzn.to/2MkEvXr
Sand Blasting Cabinet Model 60 amzn.to/2Kl30mN

Shorai Lithium Battery (Same one I’m using) amzn.to/2Lzl7tC
Cafe Racer Garage what medium are you using in your blast cabinet?
Adam McNutt just glass at the moment
Cafe Racer Garage ahhh, very different finish than I get with aluminum oxide. I may switch to glass as it seems less abrasive/destructive.
I have a question. In regards to painting the callipers. Does the paint last? I'm thinking of refinishing my callipers.
Great question Nick, I spilt some brake fluid on them and and forgot to clean it off straight away but the paint didn't budge and normally the brake fluid will strip paint, hope that answers your question, I give the paint two thumbs up 👍👍
The build is turning out great, can't wait to find out how it turns out!
The funny thing about the CX is that there is so much rotational mass in the shaft drive, if you get any sizable air, they have a tendency to roll when you're airborne. Yes, I actually have jumped a CX500 more than a few times, once geting air at over 100 mph.
Battery between swing arm and chasis you are just awsome
Shubham Mayekar, could be done but it will be tight if I make a box for it to go in
Looking awesome, can't wait to see what you do with that exhaust!
Thank you My man, that video is the one I'm working on next :) Hope you enjoy
Ive just started watching this series. Loving what I see so far. I have a CB750 that I am going to be doing myself, and your build has inspired me to do a channel for it. Im very familiar with YT from the gaming side of things, so this will be quite the different monster indeed! Going to watch more.
Finally a decent bike building channel without a shed load of ads or a video producer/member advertising stuff. Subscribed.
Im just one guy in a garage and trying to improve my editing all the time, Just out of curiosity what channels have a producer?
@@CafeRacerGarage what I meant was the person making the videos i.e you.
@@BenTV73 Thank you for your feedback and comment mate, I hope you enjoy the videos :)
Loving this build..can't wait to see finished. You should take leave from ya day job 😁
Such an amazing comment bro and yes the plan is to be building bikes full time and sharing the process, Currently working on the income side so Its sustainable :)
Another awesome installment, really enjoying how this is coming along. As I recall, the CX For The Bold did had the battery mounted in the swingarm just like you did, he just used the rectangular opening as the upper portion of the box and welded a shallow section underneath to cradle the bottom of the battery. Loving the vids, it's helping keep me motivated on my own projects.
Good call out Matthew. I was just thinking the same thing. But Dan, For the bold points out another cool option that may work. ua-cam.com/video/-NMIG_AQ11Y/v-deo.html He points out the two points he is considering just before the two minute mark.
It's just a little to tight in there for so maybe its not the best spot however it could be done. Thank you for the comment Matthew :)
Just discovered your channel and really enjoying your excellent videos. Best wishes from Norfolk, England 😎
Brilliant. Really nice work. Interesting following 👌
Thank you so much mate, :)
Hi Dan- this video was quite unbelievable to watch- what a fantastic bit of production, camerawork, editing et al- wow! Well done. Love those “new” calipers, too, Mate! 🏍👍🏍
Gary A thank you mate, you always notice the stuff hardly anyone else mentions 👍😁
I do love the great positive feedback 😊
Its my turn to congratulate you on the 10k! can't believe how fast your channel is blowing up my dude! hats off to you!
Jish thank you so much brother, it means the world coming from you honestly, it’s incredible and I’m so grateful to everyones support, ideas and amazing comments, the best part about it is that we are not competing against each other, in fact Iv been trying to come up with a way we can build up our channels together and support each other it a unique way. I’m still working on it 🤔 Iv been thinking about this for months!
We are just guys in our garage but I believe we can be so much more to so many more people :) give me time and I will come up with something, I always do ;) I haven’t had a chance to sit down and watch your new video but my friend Tom from Canada (Another Cafe Racer Build) sent me a msg saying how cool a guy you were and you now have the same bike as him 👍
So awesome 😎
Next year I’m going on another big holiday and Amsterdam is one of my stops. If you are interested it would be awesome to meet you if a weekend getaway to Amsterdam is on the cards for you and the girl. We could hire bikes and chief Pep Can show us around :)
It's all about building the community man! all for supporting and growing together! As for Amsterdam, im keen! Heres to the next 10k subs and creating some cool shit!
Amazing channel, definitely underrated.
You know with those calipers you can remove the long slider bushing and rubber seal in a few seconds? No need to risk damaging it in the blast cabinet. It also highly advisable to remove the pistons and clean the inside of the caliper. Even without blasting, I guarantee there is some garbage inside them. It's not a difficult or time consuming job, even if you reuse the old pistons and seals.
Great series! And good info here :). I love that movable motorcycle lift. Probably more expensive than this entire build xD. Keep it up!
thank you mate, I built that lift and cost me less than $200 it was the first video i ever posted, I split it into 3 videos, Here is the first one ua-cam.com/video/C-A2MS5YU_Q/v-deo.html Enjoy :)
That battery is sick!
If you look @ for the bold he has a cx café racer and he did the battery box in the swingarm 😊 it looks great.
By the way keep those clips comming 😁
P.S. Sorry if my english isnt that good but I’m dutch
Love your work! And can i ask what kind of sand you use in your sandblaster?
Enjoying the build, keep it up.
Dan, love your work. Really looking forward to seeing how she turns out. But curious to hear an Aussie call mudguards "fenders"
Ranger Stu thank you my friend, me to lol. I call them both fenders and mud guards but at the time of making this video I must of run with the name fender 🤷♂️ I often say the wrong words but it’s just me and I laugh at my self all the time because of it. Haha 😂
Saw someone use (only)the 17" rim from a goldwing, and its own hub
I have a question. I was going to work on my calipers but I don't have a sand blaster, what do you recommend I try to remove the paint? And as usual great job!
Paint stripper and a wire brush will get most of it off, Just do it a few times if it doesn't take it all off the first time :)
awesome series. I am learning alot
I'm super happy that it's helping you, thank you for the comment Rui :)
Scramble bikes are great. Lightweight. nimble. Easy to pick up off the floor. Don't crush you when they fall on you. This bike is a bit different.
Hey Dan, love the videos! You and a few of the other UA-cam builders have inspired me to document my own build! I have a question about the music though. I know copyright laws can be tricky and I don't want to get in any trouble. How do you go about selecting songs to use on your videos??
i get being budget conscious. but rebuilding the calipers would have been great content and something i would have done if it were my bike and my build. if you are spending money on tires or wax. why not spend on seals or a rebuild kit?
Are you going to be switching out the Regulator/Rectifier for your swap to the LIon battery? I've heard from more than one source that the factory units will eventually burn out with a lithium cell.
I contacted Shorai and they are confident that this will not be a problem with their batteries and its one of the reasons I picked Shorai to start with, Id love to know if anyone else has experienced anything different :) have a great day mate
I have the same battery. I've been running it for a year and can't fault it. Worth every penny.
It looked like had some orange Peel on the fender?
Thank you for the feedback on the battery mate, The fender is pitted from the sandblaster. Sandblasters have a hard time removing chrome so i will sort out the fender paint finish off later but for now its ok :)
Use the original rear fender but either cut a lot of it off or just mount it further towards the front of the bike.
Ive used the exact same fender on my CB750. Off an Sr500.
Also not sure if you remember me saying swapping the rear wheel with a cbr600 f4 rim was a straight swap for the CB750? Well, it needed a fair bit of work to make it fit ha. Lucky i know some pretty awesome guys who can machine up anything.
Lucky you know a few guys, hope it wasn't too expensive, Thank you for the tip on the rear fender I honestly have no Idea what I'm doing with it yet :) lol
Cafe Racer Garage I'll send you a close up pic of how mine is set up when I finish work. It may not suit what your going for but at least you can see one mounted.
Ant Wolff look forward to it
Cafe Racer Garage Ha. I'll send that pic tonight ha. Totally forgot.
Sandblaster is so useful. Dang.
Sure is :) Its very therapeutic to use too.
You gotta go with mounting the battery in the swingarm! The box doesn't need 4 sides that are complete, you'll be fine cutting a slot to fit around the pivot. Just think how trick that will be - you'll find a way :)
See how we go :) thank you for the comment mate
Have a look at "for the bold" he's nearly finished his cx500 and I thing he put the battery down by the swingarm.
Yes It sure can be done however I'm starting to think under the seat will be better for this build :) thank you for your comment mate, Anthony is a cool guy and great builder/UA-camr
Hi Dan,great job so far. I'm doing a Eurosport at the moment. Like yourself,I'm being careful with the pennies. The bike has been stood for 14 years,so as you can imagine, pretty much everything made of rubber has had to be replaced due to going hard,or perishing.
You had any troubles like that? The valve stem seals were pretty hard, how's your? You will be able to tell by the smoking and the oil levels...also,unfortunately as I have found...a build is never cheap on a 30 odd year old machine,if you want it to run properly for a loooong time without having to go back to it.If I may ask,has the motor had a new timing chain, triple by pass? And how many miles has it done?
Andy Laye this bike has some good rubber and also some bad, I’m not sure of the exact kms but overall the engine seems good, time will tell I guess. I will use it until I get problems and than do a complete engine rebuild
You'd get a lot more subscribers if you gave more photos of the final product.
I had Bridgestone trailing tyres on my bike,a bit like your knobbliest. After a while, and up to 40mph,the vibration made my hands buzz. You may need to change them,as form over function, isn't everything...
Andy Laye very good point Andy :) thank you 😊
looking great mate!
Thank you mate :)
Your videos are awesome!! How many hours per week do you spend working on the bikes and also how long do you spend editing footage?
This is a great question, normally I work on the bikes for 3-4 days in a row and then editing can take a full day but I like to stretch it out a few days on and off so that i can come back to it with fresh eyes and pick up any mistakes I may have made :)
I cut the fender longer than I want then use original shape and curve I cut off to reshape fender
Hi great work. Can you tell me what the holding device is you use for when you did the mudguard. It’s an orange stand - who make these please? Ta from the UK
It’s called a super jaw
I’m pretty sure triton make them
Did you rub those calipers down before the top coat?
O cara vai lá, tira a pintura original e pinta com spray kkk.
The front fender usually holds back all the cables from getting mired in the front wheel. Anyone know how he tidied up the front cables? Looking to chop a fender for my cb750.
Why don't you cut the fenders first before putting on the primer? Save cost??
Stephen Chawngthu thank you for the comment mate I ended up getting free powder coating so it worked out even better. I traded my time and skills rather than paying money for the coding 👍
What should the valves be gapped to? I'm getting a tick on right cylinder, and I'm sitting about .006
I can't remember mate, Id have to check my manual however, here is a great website for info about cx stuff, its very detailed motofaction.org/motorcycles/honda-cx-gl/
i've found that the battery in the swing arm doesn't work,it becomes unsprung weight and shakes to peices
Very good point :) thank you for the comment Dave :)
shedbuilt dave well, tell that to "The Bold Degreez" guy, that is exactly the place he installed it, but he will not listen to you because he's such "smart ass"
Hi there how are you doing ? I was wondering about your lithium batterie did you have to mod your charging system or change the voltage regulator ?
Hi Jeff I'm great thanks for asking, Shorai has told me this is not necessary for my model, however, just shoot them an email to check this with yours, Hope that helps and if you have any more questions just ask :)
@@CafeRacerGarage thanks for the response i will give them a shout :)
I'm all about cutting corners where I can. But brakes on a motorcycle are pretty important. It's not a good idea to scrimp on brakes.
Stanley Potter thank you for your comment Nate and you are 100 % right. I think they will be ok but I will definitely test them before I take the bike on a ride and if I think it’s unsafe I will spend the bux to get them safe. Thank again for the comment mate :)
Ok so let's make this clear. The glasses are a waste of time and money. The respirator is ok, but not nessacary. How ever I recommend an apron and face shield. I work with hydrochloric acid on a daily, and at least a 50/50 mixture is recommended.
(P.S. don't do any fast movements when playing with hydrochloric acid. One wrong move means tons of melted skin
acids are corrosive, so putting metal parts into acids will actually make them rust quicker! pls dont use acids for rusty metal parts ^^
Daimy 3000 thank you for letting me know mate, always leaning:)
what model is this?
Please don't save money on brakes. And don't encourage others to do the same. Your brake pistons are scored, which will in turn slice through both your dust and pressure seals causing your brakes to fail completely. So, replace your pistons, seals and other rubber bits whilst you still can.
Bandit Rider great point my friend thank you for your comment
No problem mate. I have since, passing my bike test, owned 3 bikes. Each of which, was second, third or forth hand and all of which required having their brakes rebuilt. Never regret spending money on your safety :)
There are plenty of places to save money on a build, I'm with you, the breaks arn't one of them. Definitely not something you want to think about when you open up the taps.
*talks very quiet
Me, turns up volume
*Montage music kicks in
My ears die
Trent Buescher my apologies to your ears.
This is sometimes not easy to get perfect but I’ve done the best with the skills I had back than. I’m always improving. 👍😊
Cafe Racer Garage it's ok lol I was just warning earbud users, if anything turn down your montage music and let us turn it up.
how much amperage on the battery?
14Ah, weighs one fifth the weight of lead-acid batteries and lasts 5 times longer. Here It Is If you want to check it out: amzn.to/2KaP6lW
Does carby cleaner bugger up any rubbers?
Michael Hardy no it’s hasn’t seemed to affect them but I guess time and use will be the real test, great question tho 👍
Michael Hardy Carb cleaner will de laminate the coating on the air diaphragm valve rubbers found on the outside of the carbs if you don't take them out first before cleaning.Hope this helps.
Andy Laye I totally agree, I did this once by mistake. Thank you for the comment, hopefully it helps anyone else who reads the comments :)
What song plays at 2:45?
Say you hate not replacing parts when tare down????? When you work 40-60 hrs a week & have kids & have to pay $ for new parts ,,,,when you can do safely you learn to cut $ when able to….
name of the song at 2:33 please
I want the name to please help us
And nice work
nice content (thumbs up), but the spamming to sub is just to much
Taking chrome out is not exactly a good practice to be done by amateurs. Chromic acid fumes that could generate in the chemical process destroyes the flora of the intestine. Not good.
Trust me on this. I´m a metallurgist and know these processes.
Safety items that need to get done shouldn't be part of the build. Should just consider the actual tranformation parts.
Thank you for your comments Nikolas, I love to show all aspects of the build but you are right, The best parts are the transformation bits :)
Instead of a hard rod, use a straw. you can mark it and it doesn't compromise the pistonhead.
"im taking extra precautions glasses, long sleeves, gloves."
*stays in shorts*
ooVEXXXoo haha 😂 so true!
Hey Dan, love the videos! You and a few of the other UA-cam builders have inspired me to document my own build! I have a question about the music though. I know copyright laws can be tricky and I don't want to get in any trouble. How do you go about selecting songs to use on your videos??
I use epidemic sound for my videos, its a subscription but if you are looking for free songs try SoundCloud or youtube for stuff that is copyright free.
The Music I use: bit.ly/2OR9jRq - AMAZING for UA-camrs and I may shoot a video about this because I get this question all the time :)
