- Ella Fitzgerald with Oscar Peterson in 1980 in all their musicality and expression.
One of the most beautiful jazz standards written by Vincent Youmans, Billy Rose and Edward Eliscu in 1929
Probably one of the very best things I've ever done in my life was to go see Ella & Oscar back in 1978, when they came to the University of Minnesota and played. Also Joe Pass was playing with them-I was so young at the time, I thought these guys would always be with us, because they were larger than life. Such an amazing show, I'll never forget.
Boy....people wrote such beautiful music back in the day. Wow I love those standards.
This world would suck without music. Ella Fitzgerald and her voice is proof that there
are miracles .For me, Ms. Fitzgerald is & will always be the Queen of music.
How humble she is at the beginning, talking about the "frog" in her throat. Then the music starts and she leaves that place and goes into her most precious place, deep inside herself, and she brings up a seemingly self-refreshing supply of soul, love, tenderness, pain, heartbreak, loneliness, joy, and total credibility. Even more amazing than that, she expresses it all with the grace, style, and melodic and rhythmic sense of the finest improvising Jazz instrumentalist you've ever heard. I will always believe that God chooses certain people to sing for Him and he bestows upon them gifts that set them apart from everyone else. Ella Fitzgerald was one of those people.
Arthur Name, or whatever your damned name is, you are damned corrrect. Hat tip to you!
Sir you are so right I cannot get through a day without my Ella somebody once said to me why do you listen to that old fashioned music those songs are a damn site sexier than anything you hear now
This is the most beautiful 4 minutes of music I have ever heard in my life. Absolutely breathtaking. It's sad that none of the four musical giants that created this magic are still with us. God bless them all.
I just cry thinking that two people so pure in their love of music and so gifted in their expression not only performed together, but greatly enjoyed each other’s company while doing so
*three. Don’t forget NHOP on Bass!
What are gifted people you are... Rest in peace...
These two have created some magic.
My God, that was beautiful.
Ella's gifts take us past the here and now, down what Thomas Wolfe called "the lost lane-end into heaven" ... transcendent!
Thanks a LOT for this! I was privleged to see Ella with Count Basie, and also with Joe Pass and the quartet at the time; never did see her with Oscar P. A totally unique and unreplaceble talent...
Ella is the highest!
Is there someone who has this in a better quality? (without the noise...) It's by far the best version of this song I've ever heard....
These mystical Titans 🙏❤❤❤
Jessica ya got taste girl! No one ever sang sweeter than Ella or played tastier than Oscar. The original "Dynamic Duo". Thanks for sharing....
Two of the best ever and forever.
Two giants at work!
A magical performance of a song that deserves to be better known.
As always with Ella, its the phrasing.
I wonder who she was thinking of as she sang it? It is sung with such feeling... love it... love the song anyway...
This is genuine perfection. .
SUBLIME!!!!!!!!! a little piece of heaven right there
DO you want to talk about MUSIC??? CLASS CLASS CLASS This is REAL music .
Как она прекрасна и как прекрасен её голос!!!
La "única e irrepetible" Ella.....No hay palabras....
I saw this most AMAZING lady this year ion the outskirts of Coventry in England.... I was a very lucky 10 year old girl and will forever have her in my mind... :-) xxxxxx
Thanks for sharing this RinchenDawa1. Undoubtedly, one of the best collaboration of Oscar and Ella. I'm just glad I had a chance to listen to them...in this lifetime at least.
i love you, ella..
too wonderful for words :)
DAMN! Just Marvelous - Too Marvelous For Words!*

all-time favourite
OMGoodness!!! Thank you sooo much for uploading this brilliant performance by two of the most brilliant artists EVER! It's so sublime yet so intricate. Oscar the typical virtuoso, glides so effortlessly over the keys. And of course Ella sings like she breathes. So natural. I absolutely love everything about this! Thanks again
Superb
Wow. This is the best video of this clip I’ve seen. Thank You!
what a gem
Fantastic
Great!
One in every crowd
thanks honeybee7700. i don't think there will ever be another "ella".
Y además acompañada por otro genio....Oscar Peterson....
featured in The Fabulous Baker Boys
So right!
Sublime encontro de titãs
OK, where was that frog? How many octaves, effortlessly with a smoothness that cannot be matched?
Ella = great! Oscar = great. Let's do the math. Ella and Oscar = super great!
Karen Carpenter had a great voice, but let's face it, Ella could sing circles around her. She had every tool in the business, plus heart.
There's a clip on UA-cam of them singing together, from a Carpenter's television special. Pure magic. 📺
@mrshiggs1 thanks Miss Fitzgerald!!!!
this is a great example of why sinatra thought she was the best.
... apparently i've been using the phrase "there's a frog in my throat" incorrectly this entire time because she sounds marvelous!
Do you want to talk about a CLASS AC?????
