  • In this video we look a 13 Skin signs linked with diabetes and high sugar levels:
    1) Necrobiosis Lipoidica
This is called Necrobiosis Lipoidica - it's an uncommon inflammatory condition that usually
The condition is most commonly seen in people with diabetes (both type 1 or type 2).
We don’t really know the cause, some theories suggest it could be damage to areas
that give the skin its strength - your collagen fibers.
Some think this is due to changes in the small blood vessels of the skin.
    www.thelancet....
    2)Dark Skin Patches (Acanthosis Negricans)
The reason why it happens isn’t clear cut but it is thought to be linked with insulin resistance.
This is why it can occur if we are overweight or obese. But is also linked with diabetes and some metabolic disorders - like Polycystic ovary syndrome and Cushing’s syndrome.
    www.nhs.uk/con...
    3) Granuloma Annulare
It is thought that the process behind why it appears is most likely due to inflammation. It can be linked with a few conditions, including - diabetes, autoimmune thyroiditis, hyperlipidemia and very rarely, some forms of cancer.
    www.nhs.uk/con...
    4) Xanthelasma
This happens when your body collects extra cholesterol around your eyes.
    www.myheart.or...
    clinicafai.com...
    5) Eruptive Xanthomatosis)
If you develop a break out of small reddish-yellow bumps across your body - this CAN BE a sign of underlying metabolic disease. The skin eruptions are usually non-tender but in some cases cause may be itchy, but the good news is they’re not contagious.
    www.healthline...
    6) Diabetic cheiroarthropathy
Its characterized by waxy skin-thickening over the palm of the hand which restricts mobility, particularly affecting the extension of the MCPs and PIP joints
    7) Foot Ulcers
Diabetics can have poor circulation and high sugar levels, which can slow down the healing process and make you more prone to infections. Getting wounds infected can prolong the amount of time it takes to heal.
    8) Skin tags
Some people can get these as a result of diabetes. The reason isn’t fully understood but its likely a number of factors including insulin resistance, obesity, and hormonal changes
    www.healthdire...
    9) Diabetic Dermopathy
Diabetic dermopathy is it's thought to be related to damage to the small blood vessels that supply the skin. Poor blood circulation and changes in the structure of the skin may contribute to the development of these patches.
    diabetes.co.in...
    10) Dry itchy skin
But itchy skin can result from dry skin or poor circulation, both of which are more likely when you have diabetes.
    11) Fungal infection
When we are diabetic and have high sugar levels - this can encourage the growth of fungal infections.
    12)Bacteria infection
Similar to fungal infections - bacterial infections are also more common in diabetics. Other skin infections like impetigo and folloculitis are also more common.
    13) Blisters
They can develop if there has been some friction to the skin and due to neuropathy you may not have felt the discomfort

Lets all manage our diabetes levels. I lost my mother on 21st May, 2022 to diabetes. She had a very long standing diabetic problem which later caused her to have heartfailure, stage 5 CKD, neuropathy, gastrointestinal issues. Few months before she died, she had to battle hypoglycemia, skin dryness & itching & she could even ask for my help to scratch her body & I used to do it. The week she died she developed hypotension & also big blisters on her skin. She was 70 yrs old. My hearts is very broken & I miss her terribly. Let's all take care.

So sorry for th loss of your Mother! You're in the club now, that no one wants to become a member of!! No matter how old they live to be, we're never ready for our Moms to go. My Mom also had Congestive Heart Failure. I'm positive my Mom also had type II Diabetes, but she never had a fasting blood test done! She was sure she didn't need one & her Dr. told her she tested negative, so that was it. She was always thirsty, was obese, skin was dry & flaky, her diet was bad & had been all of her life. Her Dr. never encouraged her to make any diet
changes. My one Sister had an attitude of Let her be, She doesn't need to be "hounded!"
My feeling is, that at some point, we DO become our parents advovate & when they're being unreasonable or not doing what's best for themselves, you must step up!! You're so right, we need to all manage our own health & also be our loved ones advocates as well. That way, no one falls through the cracks. You went above & beyond for your Mother. Now just honor her, by living your best life as she would want for you. Take care. 💗

@@teresagarrisonbieritz6459 What lovely ,caring words which will help many people . Elderly parents can become like stubborn children at times and I totally agree that it's up to their adult kids to reverse the role when necessary and to go out other way to ensure what's best for their whole physical and mental well-being . My mum died in 1987 from a massive stroke and there's still not a day goes by when I miss her .. just little things she'd say or do . I completely believe that we'll be resurrected and reunited in God's promised new Kingdom and that's a great comfort. I don't know if you believe in that or not , but whatever your beliefs.. or none.. I hope you are ok in health and close in heart to all of your relatives . Thank you again for your lovely words. 🕊️

Daniel 2 : 44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom , which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms ( ie: the current corrupt ones) and it shall stand forever.

I just spent a month in the hospital for a diabetic foot ulcer. I didn’t take care of my diabetes. I do now. It was so painful and got infected. I had IV anti biotics for 3 weeks. I also had a skin graft on my foot wound. It is almost healed now, three months later. That was so painful, I take care of my diabetes now. I don’t ever want to go through this pain again. In the hospital they gave me insulin, however , the diabetes is controlled with medication now. Doing good. Please people, take care of your diabetes. Thank you Dr. Khalid, very informative video.🥰

Timely vist to the diabetologist saved my foot.. I had a patient who was seen by a colleague of mine for acne on her chest and breasts. She said it got better after a course of antibiotics but now it was back. She was hugely overweight - and when I examined her chest it was covered in acne. First thing i did was check blood glucose and send her off for a glycosylated hemoglobin test. Stat blood test with my office glucometer was around 300. Needless to say I counseled her and began treatment for diabetes. My colleague had forgotten all about why this woman would be getting an unusual and persistent acne. When something looks weird it never hurts to look at it as a symptom of something else and not treat it like the main disease...

Thank you Doctor! I have an array of these symptoms. Raised with my doctor who concluded 'stress related'? I had a feeling these symptoms were indicative of diabetes. Had blood test done again but still supposedly 'pre-diabetic'? Hence why telephone 'consultations' don't work! A doctor needs to SEE his/her patients

Thank you! Great expenditure of my time. This will allow me to self audit prior to doctor visits, as I only get about 8 minutes with each appointment over months or yearly. I can take pictures of myself, present them immediate and thereby making GP aware of the body changes …equating to better self care…as I see myself daily. Self awareness is important to my continued living. Additionally, Could you provide this format in a post on each of the top ten diseases that cause death so we/I can be more proactive in taking care of myself/ourselves, Again THANK YOU!

My brother-in-law developed bad neuropathy in his 60s but doctors were baffled because his blood glucose was perfectly normal every time they tested him. He eventually had to have some toes amputated. Not long ago, I read that some drugs can cause neuropathy as a side effect. That certainly could explain his mysterious condition. Too late, though, since he has gone to glory.

I have been a type 2 diabetic taking two types of insulin. I have ulcers on my legs, feet and the soles of my feet. I have severe neuropathy all over my body and my hands are so stiff I have difficulty using them. Getting diabetic help is difficult. Doctors are the worst people to see about diabetes. Diabetes clinics are poor, they rarely check your legs or feet. the clinic I go to in my local hospital no longer tests my urine or blood, they say they get this information from my GP clinic. Since Covid things have got worse. I was asked by the doctor at the diabetic clinic if I wanted a telephone call instead of a face-to-face appointment. How can they check how my diabetes is going over the phone.
