Untold Secrets in Disney Parks Concept Art

- I've spent far too long looking at sketches on pages, now it's your turn. I suppose it helps that they're staggeringly beautiful pieces of concept art. Ever wonder what became of EPCOT's Technology Pavilion? How about a log flume ride pitched WELL before Splash Mountain even entered Tony Baxter's (good friend of mine, btw) head? Now you will see. Now you will know.

Concept art is fascinating to me. To see the early outlines of what’s to come or what was originally planned truly demonstrate the amount of creativity and thought the designers and imagineers input into theme parks. Even outside of theme parks, such as movies, video games, shows, etc. Plus it’s just cool to see how much an idea progressed (or sometimes regressed), and to see just how much of it came to fruition.
How about Living with the Land 2 as the 5th gate? One really long greenhouse that's 50% breadfruit
I need this to happen. Though in Pittsburgh we kinda already have this with Phipps.
I'd love you to cover parks merch that allowed a pre internet audience virtual parks experience. LP records, big picture books, view master reels, super 8 films, that kind of fun stuff.
This would be pre home video, pre internet, you know, gen x and earlier.
You were on a roll today. Thanks for the laughs and the smiles.
Coco is very much part of Paris' "Frontierland"during Halloween season. It fits really well
came to say this lol
The thing is us Mexicans don't really like Día de los Muertos being grouped with Halloween because it isn't meant to be scary. It's meant to be a day of remembering your loved ones.
@@crazyowlgirlcncowner The European theme-park Halloween is a combination of the 'American Halloween' and 'American Thanksgiving.' Many parts of European Halloween actually look like USA Thanksgiving...
This restaurant is currently being converted into a permanet Coco-themed restaurant.
@@Luke_Go hmmm well I mean in that case it technically sounds a little better. I guess you could make a correlation to being thankful for your deceased relatives' memories or something lol
Actually, in the early years (70's & 80's) they did have those water falls on both sides of the entrance of Tomorrowland (my dad was a mason that worked on them back when they were being built). They got rid of them when they changed the design of Tomorrowland in the 90's. It was a real step back in my eyes.
(I remember seeing that boat too back in the early years, but it didn't last long and I was young so I have no idea where it went to.)
They removed the waterfalls because they were too tall and whenever there was a slight wind the water would turn into a heavy mist, spraying everyone on the bridge (Which I think is extremely funny). When they shut them off the entrance lost a lot of the impact so they redesigned it completely.
@@George_vv not sure where you got that reason from but I can say that living (pretty much) at Disney World and have gone there more times than most people have actually said 'Disney', I have never witnessed that effect happen, and I have been there during those windy times to have the opportunity to witness that type of event. Alas, I did see them in later years being shut off, even during no wind days. I'm not saying that your reason is not true, but I would question it having not seen any actual proof for that reason.
Anyway, it's too bad they removed them because it was a gorgeous entranceway into the land. (Probably TOO gorgeous and overshadowed the other Lands entrances!)
Edit: And now that I think about it the upside down waterfalls in EPCOT at the Journey Into Imagination pavilion had that problem. It could be referencing that.
As one who is from Denmark and living in Copenhagen, I think it is a really cool idea to put a Denmark pavilion in Disneyland. My grandad actually met Walt Disney when he was visiting Tivoli and my grandad said he was so nice to him😊
That's awaesome!
It was gonna go in Epcot actually.
Offhand, you forgot to talk about the jugle cruise style boats that are in the concept for tomorrowland. 3:43
Exactly what I came here to say
0:56 this concept art literally triggered me. I’m so bummed :( would have been so cool to see this
Sometimes you gotta dream big with the concept art so even when the final product gets built it’s…less of a disappointment…wait no that can’t be right 🤔
I do wonder what was beyond the river ride in animal kingdom, the boat ride that just had a giant dinosaur animatronic but had caves that felt like they could hide dragons in. I wish you looked at the concept art about animal kingdom and beastly island, and how there are remnants of this cut land in the park
you do great work. It shows with your passion about Walt Disney Parks.
This is becoming my favorite channel on all things Disney. I love Provost park pass and Fresh Baked as well they all have their own great quality but this by far is my favorite.
We need a video of you telling us what’s behind everything otherwise I’ll just keep wondering
Makes sense that LEGO had to cut the sponsorship for the Denmark pavillion, especially if it was an idea created between 1994 and 2005 as it was the time when LEGO almost got bankrupt.
I think a villains land is the most needed as it seems to often be the most removed aspect of other rides, what feels MISSING. Snow White's scary adventures are not scary anymore. If you have an entire section that is highlighted as having spooky villains, concerned parents can just avoid the section entirely for smaller kids. It appeals to teens and adults a bit more, I would say.
Concept art ALWAYS gets me pumped! Though that pesky BUDGET always rears its ugly head. The water falls @ WDW always got the gets wet when there was a breeze.
Can you make vlog in the world showcase next time you go to Epcot Or more videos? It’s a good amount of people’s favorite area of wdw including mine and I wanted to see how you put your spin on fun facts there and what’s your favorite country etc…
that Denmark pavilion sounds really cool. sucks that it never happened.
I never remember that you’re from Colorado and then you go and hit me with an Elitches reference. 😂 Loved this look at concept art for the parks!
This type of content interests me most!
I like the original DLP Map concept art with the planned phase 2 attractions that never came
Can you do a poll to see what international park people want to go to the most I feel like the results would be kinda cool to see
I have always loved the concept art. It is fun to think of what could of been.
I just wish Disney would do a holiday themed area, specifically for nightmare before Christmas, Halloweentown and Hocus pocus... It would bring SO MANY PEOPLE 😭
Another fine Offhand video, thank you sir?
But hey, did you hear the rumor about the new Avatar experiences effect on the future of Tomorrowland and the thing we all want back?
I saw it in a video by the channel Overlord Dvd in a recent video about attempts to keep Disneyland’s Splash Mountain. It’s a Hollywood rumor channel but he’s had a fairly good Disney track record but who knows
But the “leak” was that they’re planning on a Way of Water attraction to replace Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, and maybe extending plans to include the replacing of the Autopia. And if that happens Disney would scrap future plans for revamping Tomorrowland which would include canceling bringing back the Peoplemover.
Hope the return will happen
RIP Rolly
I Love these Art Concepts 🎨
This company has had the best concept art since i was lil in 1979..i have a preveiw book for EPCOT that was mailed to us cuz we live in s. Florida and were on the mailing list (❤ my dad❤)
I feel like Casita would make for an amazing walkthrough attraction - it would be interesting to have an interactive experience with Casita rather than a ride
Love concept art :)
nah cause disney straight up coming up with essentially “hispanic land” is the funniest thing to me
i thought Phantom Manor was behind Big Thunder Mountain? :P
I can’t watch this without knowing where you got that shirt.
Love your videos! I’ve been watching since I was in middle school! Im graduating high school in a few months! Keep up the good work, your videos reach a lot of people and make many people’s day better.
Also. Second!!!
I NEED Epcot 2 with Living with the Land 2, now with twice as much produce!
I had that same bus experience too. They ended up assigning me a seat. I usually sat by the window so someone else could sit next to me if they chose. Wow, this bot may have been geared for kids in elementary stchool but Moxie can really make you think, can't she? What's she doing while this music plays; I know she's not asleep?
0:56 this concept art literally triggered me. I’m so bummed :(
Yes, this IS your channel.
I love this 🙂
Priority #1 DL Tomorrowland update with a totally rebuilt, even if it's shorter, more like MK, People Mover
In EPCOT I’m glad that park in the sky festival center got canned. Sorry not sorry. It’s fine enough, cool design…reminded me of the Peoplemover station concept art for Progress City. But…it would have KILLED the symmetry of the front of the park. Had they just renovated CommuniCore West like they did with the CommuniCore East building they’d have saved enough money for dare I say continuing with either the Spaceship Earth referb or the UK Pavilion Mary Poppins attraction.
I think the “beyond Big Thunder Mountain” stuff will happen. Iger’s comments make him seem bullish on investing and expanding in the parks. Plus it’d be easier to just do a decent expansion to the Magic Kingdom than doing an entire new park to compete with Universal.
great topic
Body works being left out is interesting.
Lego in epcot would of been fire
In 5 years: Now that Chapek is gone, Iger can finally blah blah...in 20 years, now that Chapek is gone and Iger is a frozen head he can finally blah blah blah
They cancelled the People Mover because he didn't talk about the boat in front of Tomorrowland again.
Dallin, I think you might want to consider doing a video in homage to your pal Rolly. RIP. 😔
nice vid!
Surprised that you didn’t hit on Liberty and Edison Squares from 1960 Disneyland Main Street!
Oh well, maybe next time
I always wanted to eat at the chicken of the sea pirate ship but, for some reason, my dad said no. Not sure why because, as a penny pincher, tuna sandwiches would have been right up his alley!
PS: Yestermorrowland, just sayin'
behind monstro is another, bigger monstro
Awesome video, commenting for engagement
I’m a grown man and this is my UA-cam channel.
Ayo the new background tho…
Great vid!
My godmother worked at Disney imagineering from the late 60s to the 90s. She gifted me a collection of Star Tours concept art by (I believe) Dave Carson.
This is a long but Im wondering if you or anyone in your audience can point me in the right direction to sell the art to someone who collects it.
Thanks for reading me!
bro i moved to colorado and went to elitch gardens and its so sad.. I don't think I will ever go back.
8:08 *snickers* wuss
Chernabog lives in Eastern Europe - he’s a Slavic god. His name means Dark Lord.
What’s your code for the candle company again? I can’t find it in the videos I’ve gone back and watched
4:40 Yeah! Right!? Why the heck (at least the last 2 times I went there in 2022 and 2023) was there Caribbean Jerk Chicken in the Lunching Pad?! That shiz 1. is too spicy, 2. does not have enough flavor at the same time somehow, AND 3. is not related to the futuristic surroundings AT ALL.
16:20 Nah man that’s not where that should be. That section should just have Cocoa and Encanto. The villain section should be a tunnel going under the river behind the Haunted Mansion and the entrance to it could be between the Haunted Mansion and fantasy land.
Do you ever wonder what's behind Living with the Land?
Yatch and Beach. I stayed there once as a kid and saw the back of the pavilion.
Any Horizons concept artwork
Have you ever wondered what's behind the end card?
Encanto should replace the tree family Robinson walk thro. Makes more sense to be in adventure land then frontier land
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Shout out to Elitches😂 the worst amusement park in the world
I feel like Disney Parks fans need to stop judging the final product of something by comparing it to the concept art (looking at you people complaining about Toy Story Land, Galaxy's Edge, and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure). I mean it's called CONCEPT art, not THIS WILL TOTALLY BE THE THING YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN FIVE YEARS TIME, NOBODY CHANGES THEIR MIND ABOUT THINGS IN THAT AMOUNT OF TIME art.
Also, that Denmark pavilion sounds very similar to Legoland
When are you going to be at Disneyland?
First comment!
Always a great feeling
@@sargentsargento3310 Agreed!
He said "Weenie"

No need to tell me "Thats not Disney it won't happen" I know that this is my dream. My ideal theme park
But if there is an attraction that Disney OWNS and you think it'll never happen, I would like to hear why you think that.
Or if one sounds like a fun idea and you want it and you think it could happen let me know
vomit simulator 😂
