💰How I built MagnatesMedia from 0 to 1,500,000+ subscribers & a 7 figure business: magnatesmedia.com (so you can just copy me) 🔥I know some of you have already claimed this deal, but if you haven’t, moomoo has agreed to extend it a little longer… Get up to 15 FREE stocks here: magnates.media/freestocks - read the terms for the full info, but basically you can get 1 free stock just for opening an account, then up to 15 free stocks depending on how much you deposit (you just need to keep it in your account for the promo period, but then after that you can withdraw it again if you don’t want to invest it). The free stocks are all worth between $3 - $2000 EACH! So if you get the full 15, that’s an absolute minimum of free $75 worth of stocks (which you can sell for cash if you prefer), and obviously some of the free stocks are gonna be worth more than that (hopefully a LOT more). This is currently just for US citizens. But if you’re in Australia or Singapore you can also get $10 cash for simply opening an account using my link above! And hopefully moomoo will be expanding to more countries very soon. But UA-cam analytics says the majority of you are in the US, so hopefully you can make the most of this free stock deal while it lasts. :)

I worked for papa johns from 2011 until a few months ago. From being on register only to delivering, then back inside making pizzas.. managing.. then I became a GM in 2017. I quit this year. You want real hard facts? John was the company. Hate him or love him, he made the company what it was. It has been a steady decline since 2018 when he was ejected. The only thing that saved PJs was covid. Corporate greed slowly downgraded food, upped expectations, they upped waged while shitting on the General Managers. Now they spawn out new products that make life more and more difficult on the instore workers just to try everything possible to stay afloat and try to hold on to what covid brought in... For real. You want to talk about the company having shitty pizza? John had standards and had people from corporate coming monthly, and at random, to make sure stores were holding their quality standards. There is no standard now. It's slowly going away because veteran GMs are being ran ragged and shortcutting to not lose their minds, and most are quitting. So those standards that were ingrained in us are disappearing from the stores, because we were the only ones that still pushed them.
I used to work at Papa John's as a driver in Dallas, you could easily make over $55,000 a year equivalent until Papa John's kept trying to cut cost at the customers and employees expense. They pushed hard for you to favor Papa John's on your 401K saying that it always goes up but they tried to avoid downturn but cutting cost, drivers could take two deliveries at a time which did not work in busy stores so orders would go late and they wanted managers to cut labor. The reason behind the 2 orders at a time was to keep drivers on road more making $4.50 instead of $7.50 when in the stores. UberEATS and door dash would have hurt them anyways but it was sad to see them self destruct bringing down such a good thing.

The video sequence around the 8 minute mark is perfect for that part of the story and really pulls you in.. brilliant video editing once again and certainly one of the best channels on youtube💯
I see the real moral of this story is: There's no such thing as a "Mom & Pop" restaurant chain while also being a mega franchise with stock shares in a public company. Eventually, they always have to cut corners and costs of operating. John wasn't betrayed by business associates, he betrayed his own core business values while being hypocritical.
Fantastic content, by far the best business documentaries both online and on TV. Well done, fantastic productions ,concise, interesting and very entertaining. I can't believe, that I have binge watched your videos for three days straight. Well Done!
Naw, he's the one who made it a publicly traded company. He could've kept it privately owned, and nobody could've done anything, but he saw a route to more money and took it. The board decided he became a bigger hindrance than benefit and fired him. That's business. Also, John Schnatter's a POS even if you ignore his racism. He deserves no pity.
Which is funny because they got rid of Aunt Jemima, Land O lakes. It's okay though they will go down, just like every other rich person. They will die just like us. No amount of money can save you.
I had papa johns for the first time 2 weeks ago, their dough is more like a sandwich, nothing like a pizza at all. After forcing that pepperoni "pizza" down, i was still craving pizza but had a full stomach. 0/10 experience. Will never order again.
New subscriber here. I appreciate the cuts , image animation, transitions, the audio timing etc. Considering the fact that your videos are long. Keep up the good work👍👍👍
Our age has reached a conclusion in the wake of arriving at its zenith. The downturn and financial exchange crashes are influencing everything, not simply FTX and 401Ks. My retirement values portfolio, at $750K, is bleeding cash. I'm continually losing because of expansion. This world will disintegrate under its authoritarian rulers, similarly as. Assuming you are contemplating resigning yet are concerned that your annuity won't take care of the increasing expense of living, I am sorry. All over the planet, there are poor administrative, monetary, and energy approaches as well as awful international strategies.
We are currently in the jaws of the worst bear markets I have seen, the average stock has been cut in half, and the only way to make money this year has been to either short or to trade long in very short time frames. I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my dipping $117k stock portfolio, what’s the best way to take advantage of this bear market?
It’s precisely at times like these that investors need to be on guard against the next certainty. You don’t have to act on every forecast, hence i will suggest you get yourself a financial-advisor that can provide you with entry and exit points on the shares/ETF you focus on.
The only good thing about papa Johns is they hire anyone into management positions and offer overtime year round due staffing issues. You can literally make $3500 every 2 weeks in Denver just delivering pizza and collecting tips plus OT if you’re up for 10 hour work days 7 days a week
Hey there. Love the videos! You've developed such a clear style and voice, and crafted the stories so meticulously... they really are great. Can you by any chance post your sources and references with a video sometime? They seem really well researched, and it would be really cool to be able to refer to the sources and just exercise some curiosity, ya know? I think it would only make them more memorable, impressive, credible, and impactful. In any case, please do keep up the good work! Cheers!
What a great story truly a self made man! I believe these kind of people are extremely rare. The pizza may indeed not be any good and the rumors and allegations may very well be true. But you can’t disregard his ambition and extreme determination to succeed.
Many mentors & friends told me that if you want to go big, you have to open for shareholders. In a lot of cases, more shareholders mean more headaches.
Nope, going Public is just a scam to allow your initial investors to cash out & make a profit on their investment: It has nothing to do with raising capitol for expansion.
As an Ex Manager of Papa Johns in Austin Texas I can say that the quality control was at its best during the pandemic. Unfortunately the higher ups don’t care how much or how hard or even how smart you work. All that matters to them is being able to sit an look @ numbers instead of actually helping the employees that are being over worked. We had a location close down for remodeling an they made our store make pizzas for carryout and delivery outside our delivery range. It’s was like a Super Bowl game was on every night for 2 weeks. We were forced to DoorDash pretty much every order outside our normal range. We didn’t receive the workers from the other location, not even the GM of the other store. It was hell for everyone in our store. An the best part? No bonus for our GM because of “The DoorDash Fee’s” Needless to say pretty everyone quit an now only 3 people work to make pizzas there along with the store that got remodeled. They cut Business hours to close 11pm when we once went to 1:30am. We couldn’t get them to budge when we were being over ran but now it’s okay? I really hate them tbh
Was a driver from 2011-late 2015 when i retired...johns ego destroyed our location...doing bang on till 2013/14 when he became vocal about rasing min wage and his stance on it...being in a blue state..the customers boycotted us...and the store closed in 2016/2017 not sure as i moved...but the wages for instore was crazy low asst managers maybe a dollar above min wage and store managers maybe 35k a year with ever raising requirements for bonuses...i was a driver and was surprised that any instore stayed more than a few months...they treated the employees like dirt...and when johm became ever more vocal the customers boycotted on that fact...
Can you elaborate on "the DoorDash Fee": What is it ? And how would affect the manager's bonus ??? ...And were you guys still doing approximately $2.50 on Delivery Fee with $1.25 to the driver ??? TY !!!
@@The.Philippines.Joe. ...Four years & you never realized that the reason why they treat employees like shyt was because of the bonus system ??? ...Because they're only making $35k a year, they're desperate to hit that sweet, sweet bonus money... ...And if someone makes a mistake, they don't nurture & train them to be better: They act out like a Spoiled Child that didn't get their way !!!
The price of going mega huge leaves you open to hostile takeover. I understand that John is ambitious and a high risk high reward kind of guy. If he would have settled for less and remained a private company this would not have happened. The other thing, you have a right to say what you want and people have a right to react to what you say too.
15:40 Yep, absolutely moronic advice. Going Public isn't about raising capitol for expansion at all... It's a strategy to pay off the initial investors. Furthermore, it's said in the video that *_Papa John's_* was worth $344 million in one day, but what they conveniently failed to mention was the amount of capitol that they raised with their IPO.
the n word thing blown out of so much proportion it was crazy and John over corrected it by leaving. And the poison pill policy that came afterwards was equally idiotic.
The worst part about Papa John's is the cashback scam on their website, it has cost people thousands. I mean the pizzas aren't even that good, they have to permanently have deals on to get customers at all.
@@crazieates3823 Yeah, but it's illegal to jack up the price and then make a coupon to "cut" the price down to its normal level, or at least advertise it that way. A plain old cheese pizza from Papa John's costs $14 before taxes and fees where I live, and I don't live in an expensive city/area. I have no idea why people pay that much for fast-food-esque pizza. For all his faults, Schnatter is absolutely right: it's not the same pizza.
There is only one difference between a successful person and a loser, and that is never giving up. Don’t ever give up on your dreams because YOU have the ability to make them come true! Never look down on yourself for being weak. Cause it makes room for you to grow stronger.
Exactly! John worked hard & he succeeded. There are always mistakes in business & must be a shark to achieve it. Unlike some men these days who don't work as hard as traditional men. =) ❤❤❤
I LOVE THAT HE HATES BAR LIFE AND DOESNT WANNA COMTRIBUTE. I got told by managers at mickey D's i could beg for my job back, the managers were cool themselves i just dont beg, and now mcdpnalds wont hire me, but i even said a while back I dont wanna help sell some of that greasy junk anyways. Now im so glad i said that.
Actually, PJ was sued by Pizza Hut for false advertisement over the tag line "better ingredients, better pizza" and initially won a $12.5 million award that was overturned on appeal in 2000. So, not much of a joke 🙂
Because of their similar accents, I keep comparing CoffeeHouse Crime to this channel. Adrian falls down a few pegs by always giving the end of the story right at the beginning. Magnates not only is well-researched, but is an excellent storyteller!
We've got several Papa John's here in Trinidad and Tobago. They were top notch a few years ago. I hope they've continued in quality control, but I really can't comment further because I haven't set foot in one since 2019 -_-
I like the little peppers you get with your order . Weird to find another Trini on this video. I didn't think any of my countrymen was interested in this stuff.
was thinking of getting papa john pizza when watching this. but then that last part happens. and i cancelled my plan. because i support john. not because of what he do. but because of the way he was ousted by his company. this is why slow growth is better than selling out to wall street.
It's saddening to hear about the very empire that he built from scratch with blood and sweat turned against him and dethroned him. One lesson to be learned here is never to focus only on one company but to capitalize on its revenues and invest in other companies and stock markets.
They do not post their prices on their menue or on their moniters at the store. The toppings are now very small in size and amount. I used to Like Papa Johns, now I do not.
I lived in Philly my whole life until 2 years ago when I moved to coastal MS, before I moved here I didn't know anyone who liked Papa Johns much, including myself. Down here people tell me all the time it's their favorite pizza. And I gotta say I can't blame them, finding decent pizza outside of a chain is impossible down here. There's one spot owned by a guy that moved down here from Brooklyn and it's the only place I go on my lunch break at work
I quit buying their pizza because a guy I knew named John, who loved the pizza, ripped people off so he could have as much as he wanted. Wasn't the REAL Papa John but he liked people to call him that. His behavior became a bad reflection on the product he loved so much
I really love your documentaries. They are very informative and entertaining. In the future, I'd love to see you do one of Shazam the music app. Keep up the great work.

It’s a damn shame how he lost this place man you gotta watch what you say and you have to be a good person genuinely or you can lose everything with one sentence when you speak from the heart.
@Organic Soul Gumbo They baited him into saying a racial slur. Basically he was like I'm not racist and blah blah blah And they were like "which word are you talking about" And basically "I've never said n*****" And that's how they removed him.
@@tedkaczynskiamericanhero3916 and then he said it... look at his history and environment, to say nothing of the people he presently supports and associates with (a few of which are racist) he was willing to say it so CASUALLY because he had no problem saying it... I doubt that he is a "racist" ...but ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, John is definitely a "racism apologist"
I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone suggest going yo Papa Johns when wanting to get pizza… I was born in the mid 90’s and can’t ever remember their pizza not being complete trash.
We used to get it in college (2001-2004). The key for PJs is just to be better than the other big chains like Domino's. At least 20 years ago they weren't that bad ... I only go to a mom and pop shop now, no delivery and they only sell pizza. It's date superior cause they only use fresh ingredients and make their own dough. I chain can't possibly compete with that.
Thats whats crazy. I remember tasting papa johns years ago like you said probably the 90s and I never looked back. My favorite has allways been pizza hut. There are some local ones I like too but I never liked papa johns.

That dumpster diving was dedication..
And smart af ... I'm not a fan of John or his pizza, but can't deny his extraordinary rise and success.

I see the real moral of this story is: There's no such thing as a "Mom & Pop" restaurant chain while also being a mega franchise with stock shares in a public company. Eventually, they always have to cut corners and costs of operating. John wasn't betrayed by business associates, he betrayed his own core business values while being hypocritical.
your editing is insane bro! you're such an inspiration.
Fantastic content, by far the best business documentaries both online and on TV. Well done, fantastic productions ,concise, interesting and very entertaining. I can't believe, that I have binge watched your videos for three days straight. Well Done!

There needs to be a separate documentary on his endeavor of consuming 40 pizzas in 30 days. Holy shit
Just remember - you can work your ass off in this country and build an empire - but they will take it from you for saying the wrong word.

This channel reminds me of older documentaries. Where every word has meaning, and there's lots of meaningful words.
I had papa johns for the first time 2 weeks ago, their dough is more like a sandwich, nothing like a pizza at all. After forcing that pepperoni "pizza" down, i was still craving pizza but had a full stomach. 0/10 experience. Will never order again.

Papa Johns delivery driver saved my mother's life. I'm legally obligated to love that place until the end of time.
When John left, so did I.
Side-stepped the part where John becomes a meme of a sloppy drunk. Ironic given the early part of his story.
Yeah he went pretty easy on John here ... He also didn't mention his philanthropy though, to be fair.

Mind if I ask you recommend this particular coach you use their service? I have trouble knowing when to buy or sell.
The only good thing about papa Johns is they hire anyone into management positions and offer overtime year round due staffing issues. You can literally make $3500 every 2 weeks in Denver just delivering pizza and collecting tips plus OT if you’re up for 10 hour work days 7 days a week

What a great story truly a self made man! I believe these kind of people are extremely rare. The pizza may indeed not be any good and the rumors and allegations may very well be true. But you can’t disregard his ambition and extreme determination to succeed.

"Dumpster database" Love it, I'm making it a shirt!!!
Many mentors & friends told me that if you want to go big, you have to open for shareholders.
In a lot of cases, more shareholders mean more headaches.
Let’s talk more on telegrams 🎉..
No bonus for our GM because of “The DoorDash Fee’s”
Needless to say pretty everyone quit an now only 3 people work to make pizzas there along with the store that got remodeled.
Unfortunately, you did not do your due diligence in researching the “N Word” phone call. The marketing firm they hired baited him into using it.
It was in him all along... and they just made him expose himself..
The price of going mega huge leaves you open to hostile takeover. I understand that John is ambitious and a high risk high reward kind of guy. If he would have settled for less and remained a private company this would not have happened. The other thing, you have a right to say what you want and people have a right to react to what you say too.
Let’s talk more on telegrams 🎉
15:40 Yep, absolutely moronic advice. Going Public isn't about raising capitol for expansion at all... It's a strategy to pay off the initial investors. Furthermore, it's said in the video that *_Papa John's_* was worth $344 million in one day, but what they conveniently failed to mention was the amount of capitol that they raised with their IPO.
I stopped eating at all main stream pizza places. Way lower quality from all of them. I now go to Italian restaurants for pizza.

The worst part about Papa John's is the cashback scam on their website, it has cost people thousands. I mean the pizzas aren't even that good, they have to permanently have deals on to get customers at all.

Most restaurants have constant coupon deals going...
Hell Grocery Stores have had them for decades!
It's just smart marketing imo
Makes me sick 4 2 days ,i use to work there growing up
@@crazieates3823 Yeah, but it's illegal to jack up the price and then make a coupon to "cut" the price down to its normal level, or at least advertise it that way.
A plain old cheese pizza from Papa John's costs $14 before taxes and fees where I live, and I don't live in an expensive city/area. I have no idea why people pay that much for fast-food-esque pizza. For all his faults, Schnatter is absolutely right: it's not the same pizza.
Papa John's quality went down
There is only one difference between a successful person and a loser, and that is never giving up.
Don’t ever give up on your dreams because YOU have the ability to make them come true!
Never look down on yourself for being weak. Cause it makes room for you to grow stronger.

It’s not the same pizza. I’ve actually stopped going to Papa Johns since the qualities decreased.
Dude Absolute masterpiece!
It's a good thing John didn't start his business in a state where people actually know what real pizza tastes like.
Don't say new York because that's the worst pizza I've had .
Or a blue state..as his politics is what killed the location i worked at..
Amen. Found their pizzas to be quite crappy.
@@GunBChevyNUT83 Then you haven't had much pizza and didn't go to the right places either.
