@MagnatesMedia, what is the difference between the two thumbnail images? You do some A/B testing, right? Personally, the Adult with the sandwich I think going better.
Here's one issue this video missed that is, in my opinion, pretty big...the fact that most stores do not honor promotions and coupons. Using a "deal" in the mobile app is impossible because so few stores participate. This leads to customers becoming upset and deciding to order elsewhere. Further, my local Subways don't even honor most coupons I receive in the mail almost weekly. This is, of course, because the store owner can't afford to accept them due to other factors this video points out. However, it also makes things that much worse for those stores as it alienates customers and decreases sales even further.
Had this experience locally within the past six months. The employee at hte store flat out told me they weren't accepting the printed and mailed "buy one get one free" coupons "because we are broke". They would still accept the others that were for things like a meal, get a half a sub, chips and a drink, but none that were buy a sandwich get one free. And that same store also started closing at 8pm on week nights. I usually drive by that location right around 7:55-8:10 on a few weeknights, and discovered they were closed when an employee came to the door at 8:02 to tell me they shortened their hours. So now it doesn't make much sense to even try.
Yea. I walked into 1/2 subways in my town and tried to use a coupon and they told me they don’t accept coupons. So I went to the other one the next week and that store as well doesn’t accept coupons. How can you make a coupon for your franchise and the place doesn’t accept the coupons?
@MrTricksterWins why are you asking the coupon question? They already answered why before your comment. Most Subways are broke, they can't accept them, and if they would then they wouldn't even be there in the first place because they would be closed.
Especially when now you can go to at least a few competitors, pay at most a small amount more if not the same price and get something that tastes better and is likely fresher. I’m hearing Jersey Mike’s is great, but I have yet to try it due to not having a close by location (one is set to open in the future though, so this will change). However, I DO know of two better choices: Firehouse Subs and Penn Station. Firehouse is literally everything Subway wishes it was, including fresher ingredients and full sandwiches. Penn Station is the next level… where you get to watch the meats get cooked on a grill, they put quite a bit on the sandwiches (and most of them give you choices of additional toppings as well) and they carry pretty good fries. Both are more expensive, but well worth it, only downside is fewer locations. Fortunately, I know of at least two good locations of each of them, thus I see no reason to even consider Subway.
The fact they offered Buy one Get one, and then revoked that and doubled the price of their food is despicable. That’s literally a bait scam. Their food is now more expensive than many other fast food restaurants. It’s not worth it, if you offer chips as a side you’re not worth $15 for a meal
that is why I always used to check subcard app. I many times got 2x 30cm subs for like 8$. If there were no cheaper prices in the app, I would choose another restaurant.
I agree they are too expensive. I live in Poland and one sandwich costs more than a dinner in a nice restaurant. That's crazy and that's why Subs are always empty here.
For the price of one subway baguette you can easily make 10 at home with better quality. That's what's insane. You'd think they'd cost closer to 5$ at most.
The way they treat employees in my town is despicable. 3 stores went out of business because the same person owned all 3. They way she talked to them in front of customers was appalling. My uncle died 12 years ago and he loved Subway. The customers knew him by name and had his order ready by the time he sat down. He walked slowly. If he had witnessed this mistreatment, he would've never gone back. He retired from the food industry. He spent 50 years serving and managing.
@@billymacktexasdetective5827 sounds like he gets the same thing every time and to not make him walk to the employees, the other customers pay for him so he can sit down faster. Subway has doubled prices after the pandemic. Just like McDonald’s. People making $7 hr can’t afford to buy a series sub for $12. They work 8 hours for $56. Before taxes. Spending 1/4 of a days wage on a sub is not going to happen on these areas. I’m in California I make $25 hr delivery driver and I don’t mind spending $12 on a sub. Also In California we have Food stamp program that allows low income people to use food stamps at Subway, McDonald’s, Del taco, Taco Bell, jack in the box, KFC, Popeyes and more. So mothers do take their children to subway to spend food stamps. If I was subway I would buy all the locations that are struggling and lease the restaurant at a break even . So they Barrow money at a low interest rate and buy the stores and lease the store to the franchise’s at the cost of the mortgage. As the buildings are paid off the mortgage gets cheaper so franchises owners are able to spend less and less on renting the building. Allowing for more profit. 2. I’d make competitive partnerships with farmers and Ensure the Ingredients are not sold to franchise’s at a higher price then subway pays the farmers so the ingredients the franchise’s gets the ingredients at the best price possible. Then I’d make the average price of the subs be the cost of 1 hours labor. I’d focus marketing dollars on getting people to download the app so subway can market directly to the customers and offer deals and savings. The average person is aware of the fast and fresh image of subway . The $5 foot long always was amazing value for customers but today it’s not possible. Id do $8 foot long menu where every sub is $8 on the classic menu then I’d keep the series subs but I’d make deals with celebrities with huge followers like the rock and Shaq and In the deal they would have to make periodic posts on Social media of them at a subway location choosing their sub off the menu and enjoying it . And saying “ eat fresh “ at the end with a smile . I’d also incentivize customers to post themselves ordering subs the way they like and sharing it on tik tok and other social media platforms. I’d try to make subway come Off as fair and generous to franchises making it attractive to open a franchise. I’d also have an alternative meat menu for vegans. I’d create new sauces that pays tribute to cultural dishes like Indian curry sauce , Korean bbq sauce & flavors from around the world. I’d make subway the craving everyone anywhere can enjoy.
I work at subway and the food is fresh especially the salad I've done a lot of prepping and I can tell you that the salad definitely fresher then what's in my fridge at home. But yeah they do need better marketing
It's fascinating to see how market dynamics play out, especially with consumer preferences shifting towards quality over affordability. Innovation in the food industry is key - brands need to adapt and innovate to stay relevant.
You’ve got a great voice for this and you really do your homework and what a great job of having the videos constantly changing to keep peoples interest up. I haven’t seen anything from you in a while. I’m hoping things are well and we miss your content .
I used to love Subway. I never bought into the whole "healthy" gimmick, but the $5 footlong was amazing. I would but a footlong for lunch, eat half, and eat the rest for dinner. People love to crap on Subway, and for good reasons... but for the cost at the time Subway was unmatched imo.
The price was the only reason why it was worth eating at Subway. Nowadays they’re too expensive to justify eating there as you can get much better options at the same price point
best business documentaries on youtube , combination of business lessons and story telling . your videos inspire me on my entrepreneurial journey to keep pushing
Subway is failing because their $5 footlong is now a $12 footlong and they actually have the cojones to ask for a tip for making your $12 lunchmeat sandwich that you have to stand in line for.
i stopped going to subway when they discontinued the 5 dollar foot long. i remember the last time i ever went, they charged me like 12 bucks for footlong that i thought was going to be 5 dollars, then the employee said " oh we changed the menu and pricing". haven't been to a subway in over 3 years
That's what the real inflation rate is more or less. Inflation benefits debtors you don't seriously believe the numbers about inflation from the world's biggest debtor(federal government) do you. If it's 6% and they say it's 1.5% they pocket like $300 billion/year just from doing that alone lol
I live in a small town and there was a subway in the same location that was always opening and closing, with different owners over the years. They never did well and the owners always blamed the locals for not supporting them. Subway is just not good for the price. We have better sandwiches made in our local grocery store next door. They couldn’t compete. Finally another business took over that location and we no longer have subway. Nobody misses it.
Your videos are incredible and your my favorite UA-camr the quality is just off the charts and I hope you grow fast as i am hoping you will continue making these videos for a long time and I will keep supporting you as long as you do.
I recently went to a subway franchise here in India. I found the veggies and other ingredients tasted very bland and lacked freshness which others (Burger King, etc) had offered. And the price point to be steep for something that's literally just microwaved and nothing processed. So no to subway if things stay the same. 😅
9:12 it sucks that they closed here, the franchisee ran out of money due to bad management and now we don’t have a subway. They tried selling their assets but cuz they’re in so much debt no one’s going to buy them out
Subway (in India) isn't doing as good as Dominos, McDonald's or Burger King simply because they are clueless about pricing. A sub costs more than double compared to what it used to just 5 years back. That's not a good enough reason to buy a less filling meal. One can simply go to McDonald's or Dominos for their carb hunger and get a fulfilling meal.
2012-2014 I was in the market to take on a franchise as there was an opportunity to get a great spot at a newly built OC in our town center. McD was already present nearby so that was off the table, KFC not really a thing anywhere and Burger King only 3x in the country. And I wanted Subway because I knew it from Germany and many other countries. Once I was handed the contract it was one thing only - suicide. I gave it back with that comment and they laughed at me that if I won't take it they will find someone else no later than the next month who will. It is 2023 and no Subway anywhere. And I saw some places in Germany not named Subway anymore but selling similar menus under own names and brands. The worst part thou is when you look at any employee at Subway. You can tell how bad the company is for the one's who are doing the leg work while the one's who quit and do it under their brand are happy and friendly as you'd expect anyone doing well for himself.

In my town of Havelock North, New Zealand, the failing subway store shut down to be replaced by a fantastic, very successful craft beer bar. Us humans care about craft beer far more than crap, overpriced sandwiches
im also in nz. was going to local subway three times a week, but the amount of fillings they put on the sandwiches kept dropping while their prices kept going up and up. its now just expensive bread. and then they "reshaped" the pre prepared chicken fillets etc. they say its to fit the sandwich better (yeah right) but the fillet size has shrunk to about 2/3 what it was. just a wrought. have stopped going and wont go back.

In college, ca. 1980, I'd hit Subway for lunch at least four times a week. I haven't eaten there in years because, compared to other sub shops, the value isn't there.
There's one subway in Kenya, specifically Nairobi but it looks like an abandoned 80's home, the name and the building still gets renovations but the exact subway business its all in dark
i see that im not alone here, i live in brazil, and the price for subway here is absurd, the first time i went to subway i paid R$ 10 (about 10 years ago) for the cheapest footlong, now, it was 33 months ago, i bet its close to 40, for you guys have an idea, if i go with my girl and buy 2 footlong, a coke, and a cookie, with the same ammount of monney we could go to a all you can eat sushi or pizza restaurant and its double of the price of eating mc donalds or burger king etc...
All I know is I got the occasional subway sub. It had been a bit so I went in for a Subway Club. It was gone, turns out discontinued. Walked away and got a wrap at the grocery store, one lost customer.
OUt of curiosity, exactly how expensive has Subway gotten in your area? I mean, post specific prices along with the year/month. It might be interesting for someone else to see that data point in the future when prices have changed even more.
The Subway Series sandwiches are ridiculously expensive, and doesn't even taste better than the classic subs. I'm glad that Subway still retains the classic subs, however slightly increased the prices for them.
After working for Subway I can conclude, that the feeling that I've got from franchise was as described in the video. Cheap, and not caring that much about what is going on, or how to promote it in the area. The only thing that mattered was that the Sub shop was there even tho we may've been always in the red numbers.
I love the incredible growth you've gained recently! Just a couple of weeks ago you were only 14k subs strong, keep it up and please don't end up like Jake Tran. Looking forward for the new uploads!
It's simply overpriced these days for the consumer. I visited the other day (with a coupon) and you were looking at £7 just for the 'basic' subs without coupon. If you order off Just Eat etc then this goes up to almost over £11 for a footlong meal deal. The inside of stores have barely been modernised. Self Service ordering machines are pretty standard in most fast food chains here and would be a good addition. Although this is probably UK specific due to sugar tax, you can't even get standard Pepsi from the fountain machine...
Mind you re. self service machines, would those be easy to implement for Subway? I would think the fact that there's quite a lot of flexibility within the items would make it a bit more challenging, coupled with the fact that there doesn't seem to be a lot of people working in them compared to other places...
@@fetchstixRHD I can't see why not. You can order on Just Eat etc and that's basically the same as using a self serving machine. The lack of staff could be an issue but I'd imagine lack of space is the major one. Alot of stores are tiny here in the UK
No it's the same problem in the states. I can get a hoagie at two different places, that are just as good or better, with more filling for the same price. I get they have to make money but it's at the point where the prices are so high because of gross negligence at the highest levels of the company.
I used to go to Subway all the time on Thursday mostly. I still love Subway, but I started to stop when we moved & when the workers started to be more skimp with the amount of Chicken Teriyaki. I might go to one every now and then, but they are still so skimp with the food & sauce. Back then they were putting so much on you wouldn’t even have to Ask them to put more(you didn’t have to pay for more when asking back then). Now if I see a worker being skimp I Always Ask them to put more since There is legit little to nothing on it. Sad to see their ”downfall”, but they’re still a huge company.
Sixty years in the US and I never heard any of those stories because I was a food snob and wouldn’t consider eating at a Subway while I had copious better alternatives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Subway though is pretty popular here in Bangkok, Thailand and a bit of a godsend. Thai don’t do sandwiches very well. I started to give Subway a try. While I would prefer crusty bread, Subway’s offerings are acceptable and I can get a reasonable representative American sandwich in Thailand. The stores are not so numerous that they compete with each other. That honor goes to 7-11 franchises. You can have three to four 7-11’s within spitting distance of each other here.
Me and my friend were joking during our trip to thailand that when you're more then 100m away from a 7/11 , you're not actually in thailand anymore. We'd hop into one whenever we were in diar need of some A/C on a hot day
Too damn expensive. It's just more worth to go to some fast food restaurant next door, and get the same ammount of food for half the price. Sure, it may not be as healthy as Subway, but as a student who can't afford much, they really give me no options here.
Hygiene is one if their biggest issues, I use to eat subway all the time, but watching people making my subway while talking over my food, washing their hands with only water, touching money and then back to preparing my sandwich is something i could not and wont tolerate no more… and that is just some of the many issues they have

I’d try to make subway come
Off as fair and generous to franchises making it attractive to open a franchise.
Shrinkflation with higher prices is a good start. Along with jersey mikes and publix being significantly better than subway
You have a great voice also. 😘
Was
The price was the only reason why it was worth eating at Subway. Nowadays they’re too expensive to justify eating there as you can get much better options at the same price point

I got a Jersey Mike’s ad while watching this. Made my night 🤣
jersey mikes slaps
Love their steak Chipotle.
they are worlds better than Subway.. worlds..
way better sandwhich
Subway is failing because their $5 footlong is now a $12 footlong and they actually have the cojones to ask for a tip for making your $12 lunchmeat sandwich that you have to stand in line for.
i stopped going to subway when they discontinued the 5 dollar foot long. i remember the last time i ever went, they charged me like 12 bucks for footlong that i thought was going to be 5 dollars, then the employee said " oh we changed the menu and pricing". haven't been to a subway in over 3 years
$5 can’t get you a bowl of rice these days
Say hello to inflation
That's what the real inflation rate is more or less. Inflation benefits debtors you don't seriously believe the numbers about inflation from the world's biggest debtor(federal government) do you. If it's 6% and they say it's 1.5% they pocket like $300 billion/year just from doing that alone lol
And movies should still be 5 cents and minimum wage 75 cents. I know it sucks, but costs go up for everyone, so that means they need to charge more.
Tell me youre broke without telling me youre broke. Whining over 12 dollar for food lmao how sad
I just realized you always "dig deeper" ... its amazing what you find.
I remember when they came out with breakfast, me and my mom would eat there almost everyday before we went to work. I miss her.
I miss my mum too man
Yes, I remember their breakfast items
Your videos are incredible and your my favorite UA-camr the quality is just off the charts and I hope you grow fast as i am hoping you will continue making these videos for a long time and I will keep supporting you as long as you do.

I’m very impressed in the content you create understand and write down and then inter grate into video
They tried selling their assets but cuz they’re in so much debt no one’s going to buy them out
Last time I was in a Subway, it was 4 years ago, and I got massive stomach problems.
Poor ingredients, scarce quantities, lies, micromanagement, obsessive behavior, all the perfect elements to tank a business.
They are still doing very well
Bruh check mark with one like only lol
Subway (in India) isn't doing as good as Dominos, McDonald's or Burger King simply because they are clueless about pricing. A sub costs more than double compared to what it used to just 5 years back. That's not a good enough reason to buy a less filling meal. One can simply go to McDonald's or Dominos for their carb hunger and get a fulfilling meal.
Yes i would buy volcano pizza at dominos rather than subnotway
Everything is double what it was 5 years ago.
Great Parallax Visuals & Commentary with These Series 🏁
A major problem is they hire A lot forein students so there s a massive lengue barrier
The VAT thing that turned into more tax and bad image in just PERFECT

Subway is one of the only companies that can convince someone eating a whole loaf of bread is healthy
In Subway’s case, it’s bold to assume it’s bread. After all, they got in trouble because there’s too much sugar in the “bread” to legally be counted as bread in Ireland.
My binge watch of u is crazy
Your content is getting better day by day!!!! Keep it up bro❤❤❤❤❤❤
Paying 17 bucks for a 5 dollar sandwich while getting incredibly rude service is why subway is dying.
As someone who worked at Subway in the UK. Il say the prices are not worth it. Mad expensive
I agree with you especially when you get a footlong as a meal deal
Thanks!
While Jake Tran's videos keep getting worse, you are reaching new peaks! Love the business stories, they give me motivation and sometimes strategies for business.
My goodness, you stole a thought from my heart! Jake Tran has become more sensational than a TV channel!
Only just found your channel and I’m glad I did. Your content is explosively accurate. Which I’ve been enjoying a lot. Thank you. The Uber documentary was bad ass. 🤘🏿

The controversy with Jared Fogle really brought Subways reputation down.
And to make it worse, they then hired that kneeling second rate woman soccer player as their spokesperson.

The most exciting and shocking video so far is the story of Silk Road
It was badass!
That one was very good yes. It was also incredibly familiar to me, because I had watched similar videos on Silk Road before, and it felt like I had already watched that video or something incredibly close to it before.
I’m from Bahrain and it was interesting to know that it is the first place of Subway internationally, unfortunately it is closed now.
Fortunately. Subway is worse now
The way he pronounces words at the end of each sentence😅😅
He's copying the cadence of chills
Jesus Christ it's annoying. he drags his wordsss. And what is the deal with this ominous music? Makes me feel like I'm watching a murder story. It's just sandwiches, my guy 😅
I would love his content but the unnatural intonation is soooo annoying that i have to turn off after a few mins.
At least he pauses in between sentences unlike some others that do so it much that it seems like it was even edited to make that effect. I stop watching the video
🤣🤣🤣
In college, ca. 1980, I'd hit Subway for lunch at least four times a week. I haven't eaten there in years because, compared to other sub shops, the value isn't there.
Not sure how you’re able to pump videos out so fast but we absolutely love it. Keep up the great work! 👏🏽

I haven't gone back after tasting their new cheesesteak sub. Worst sandwich I've ever had. No exaggeration
$15 foot long is why i dont go to subway anymore
i see that im not alone here, i live in brazil, and the price for subway here is absurd, the first time i went to subway i paid R$ 10 (about 10 years ago) for the cheapest footlong, now, it was 33 months ago, i bet its close to 40, for you guys have an idea, if i go with my girl and buy 2 footlong, a coke, and a cookie, with the same ammount of monney we could go to a all you can eat sushi or pizza restaurant and its double of the price of eating mc donalds or burger king etc...
All I know is I got the occasional subway sub. It had been a bit so I went in for a Subway Club. It was gone, turns out discontinued. Walked away and got a wrap at the grocery store, one lost customer.

Man i love this channel
Love your channel and videos man. 🙏 Keep killing it. Great video. Sad how ridiculously expensive subway has gotten
Ya know hes made it when he gets spam bots like the big channels
OUt of curiosity, exactly how expensive has Subway gotten in your area? I mean, post specific prices along with the year/month. It might be interesting for someone else to see that data point in the future when prices have changed even more.
I watch at least one of your videos every day! Thank you for your hard work 👍🏼
Get a life
The Subway Series sandwiches are ridiculously expensive, and doesn't even taste better than the classic subs. I'm glad that Subway still retains the classic subs, however slightly increased the prices for them.
Let's go another video by magnate
After working for Subway I can conclude, that the feeling that I've got from franchise was as described in the video. Cheap, and not caring that much about what is going on, or how to promote it in the area. The only thing that mattered was that the Sub shop was there even tho we may've been always in the red numbers.
Amazing Video!!
The most criminal thing they have done is removing the one good bread they have
Agreed
I liked the harvest one they had and removed it and for a good while i stopped going entirely once they took off mutigrain good thing it's back
Italian herbs and cheese
Love your videos watch them every night learning a lot thank you
1:45 "17 year old fred." uhm sir thats a 45 year old man
I love the incredible growth you've gained recently!
Alot of stores are tiny here in the UK
plus there are better sandwich stores out there such as jersey mikes which were cheaper and had higher quality than subway.
@@pratheekk__ That's where Subway has an advantage in the UK as there's no other big sandwich shops other then independent delis/,bakeries
I agree. I still like going there every now and then. back in the early 2000s when I was in high school ID go there every chance I got!
i just came back from school and got my favourite notification less go
magnates upload🥰
My last time going to Subway was when they charged me over £10 for a footlong with added salsa. Yeah, adding salsa cost extra money.
Are you saying that if i wanted extra mayo on my sub i have to pay extra
Very Deep Research 💚

Iam getting subway ads on this video....elite ‼️🤣👍🏻
Too damn expensive. It's just more worth to go to some fast food restaurant next door, and get the same ammount of food for half the price. Sure, it may not be as healthy as Subway, but as a student who can't afford much, they really give me no options here.
this channel is underated
Hygiene is one if their biggest issues, I use to eat subway all the time, but watching people making my subway while talking over my food, washing their hands with only water, touching money and then back to preparing my sandwich is something i could not and wont tolerate no more… and that is just some of the many issues they have
They don't use gloves?
They should put robots to make our food instead.

Yoga mat ingredients in the bread to make it bigger is crazy considering Good Burger (Movie) is basically the synopsis of what they did to there bread, add a chemical make the burgers bigger!
Subway: We like to make healthy fresh food, in fact our bread is bread and shouldn't be taxed
Ireland: BTW your ''yoga mat bread'' actually contains so much sugar it should be considered a cake!
I am surprised they didn't try to sue them.
Subway: Our rotisserie chicken is proudly 100% chicken
CBC: BTW it is actually 53.6% chicken.
Subway: We demand you retract that statement or we sue for 210 million
Judge: Get out of my court! Have you ever heard of Investigative Journalism and Anti-SLAPP?
I am surprised that there is no mention of Happy Gilmore? That movie is like one long subway add.
