In a parallel universe a DM is presiding over a terrible party of adventurers who keep getting wiped by Kobolds.
Basically the podcast "Offices and Bosses" where fantasy creatures play a TTRPG about working in a cubicle, trying to hit deadlines and also not messing up a Deborah from accountings birthday pizza lunch
Kobolds r really quite nasty when u face them in their nest. I would say this was fairly accurate as they would have tons of traps and would totally throw themselves at the party to protect their clan.
Yeah in my mind it's an alternate OX and Luke just turns to the group and says to nobody in particular, "What the hell? These kobolds are so persistent!"
Parallel Universe? Nope, round here we call it "Friday night"...
When CR did a Goblin Party game someone made this same joke, it's just as funny here : D
I'm not even 1/4 of the way in and I already want a whole series of "D&D but everyone is _______."
My vote is D&D but everyone is Strahd just for how that would be the closest we get to that VTM game.
Enemies from Oxventure
D&D but everyone is a traumatized victim of the Oxventurer's previous escapades.
D&D but everyone is one of Egbert's parasites
D&D but everyone is a spicy rat.

I didn't notice while watching, but Andy managed to somehow kill all of the adventurers.
Don't sell our boy Gigan the Unambitious short. He didn't try to untie a rope, he succeeded. ;)
@@alexanderslowikow9131 Thanks, fixed
And he's also tied with Johnny for dying the most.@@matt-thorn
You're a legend for writing all that down, thanks!
Probably my favorite spin-off they've ever done? The randomized titles really gave everyone a chance to show off how good they are at roleplaying and adapting to different characters, and kept the whole thing fresh and engaging.
Also, Johnny spawning in on that bridge and immediately getting dropped into the abyss is such a mood.
Andy rolled a 0...with advantage.
Feel that's one for the record books.
Roll a D1. Winner every time.
I'm pretty sure Egbert rolled a few 0's after modifiers, is he really 3 kobolds in a suit of armour and they take turns being the head kobold?? We may never know.😂😂😂😂
I'm glad I wasn't the only one deeply invested in the continued survival of Jane's elder Kobold.
"It's water... it's quite spicy. Don't drink too much of it." I *DIED* at that line!
Please time stamp I need to hear this
43:25
So much fun, jane clocking the druid in the face with the salt rock made me snort my drink out of my nose
I'd already snorted my drink out my nose at Jane's kobold noises
Druid: "Gentle kobold, I don't think you understand what you do."
Kobold: "I don't think you understand, you all need to pay for what you did to my kin in the previous tunnel."
I almost dropped from my seat.
Here's to Mike's reacting to the name "Bing the Private" with "I think that's illegal".
Luckily, Johnny took it exactly where I hoped they would as soon as I heard that name.
"Who needs a new kobold" needs to be on a tshirt
and all the dead kobold's names crossed out except for Era the Vacuous
And one for the "kobold vending machine"
I would buy all of those
A bit on the nose (or snout?). Maybe: ypu are now playing _____the kobold who is ______😂
That would be so easy to make!
The part with jane and her salt rock and strange noises is some of the funniest stuff I've watched in a long time lmao
"That's a piece of paper" will never stop making me laugh
Helpfully pointing towards the actual caves
They all look so pleased with themselves and luke is PRESSED lmao
Imagine how angry you'd be as an adventuring party if this happened to you.
They totally brought it on themselves, though. They TPK'd the first group of kobolds because they found them slightly annoying, even though the kobolds were offering to help guide them at that point. That party earned what they got.
Good point. It's Kobold Karma.
Don't have to imagine, Kobolds are great as enemies even into higher levels as you can just throw more of them at the players and combine with devious (to a Kobold) traps. For very high levels the Kobolds just need to whittle them down a bit and prevent resting ahead of the dragon boss battle. 😉
They were consistently incredibly dismissive of the Kobolds. The Druid gets points for not even acknowledging they were entering the home of the kobolds and framing the behavior under that. And the others ignored the point about the kobolds not wanting them to go to a given religious location and being sapients themselves.
On some level it may be that Luke didn't actually know that Kobolds actually are quite advanced in mining and community themselves even if they are slightly dumb.
Imagine how angry you would be if you were a kobold tribe and this happened to you.
And more importantly how embarrassed you'd be if taking on a halfling is like taking on a grizzly bear. You would think they'd be evenly matched.
"3 in a trench coat is 1 person" making 1 kobold roughly 2ft tall is my favourite kind of measuring system lol
As an American I instantly knew exactly what their size was given that unit of measurement 😅

For a second, when the druid and the dragon born were presented, I honestly thought we would see a human pirate rogue, a half-orc bard and a tiefling warlock coming next.
Same
I kinda want them to show up as NPCs that the player’s new characters need to deal with. Have Binbag get fed up with them and banish them to the new world or something.
I really thought these were going to be the True Heroes of Geth
@@Some_Guy_On_UA-camTeleported to "anywhere but here" ( i hate adventurers.)
Andy’s first two Kobolds were dangerously charismatic and capable, they had to die 😂
Yeah, I feel like once the others had killed off a few characters it gave him the assurance to let his kobolds throw themselves into the pyre
The Gym-Bro had to go!
who needs a powerful party of characters when you have wave after wave of kobolds trying to "help" you on your journey
Johnny's grin after Mike said he wished he could play a kobold all the time was interesting, given that kobolds are in fact a playable race and they're all about to start up new characters soon.
Frankly Egbert could very easily be a kobold without changing much.
Egbert's adopted child; a kobold called Eggy Jr
Maybe Egbert will grab his mace by the wrong side and be reborn as Ko-bert.
But imagine Mike playing by the rules... to his deadly advantage, Geth could barely handle Egbert after reading the class abilities....
@@daviddaugherty2816 ko-bert, from the "Order De La Vache Mauve"

Shai-Hulud! As written!
The first roll of the night is a 0. There's a mood. A familiar, familiar mood...
Legitimately impressed with Ellen. The whole crew sometimes comes across with a bit of a "I don't even know my character sheet after all these years", but she actually kept track of someone else's resources through an entire adventure.
I never knew I needed to see Ellen rules lawyer about druids.
Ellen's been on top of things from the start. In episode 1 she's the only one dressed for the ocassion (everyone else only started dressing as their character after Mike joined)
Yeah, big props for that call out lol
Althoouuuugh, she still says that wildshape is a 2 per day ability. You’ve got more freedom than that, Ellen, you can turn into a cat twice per *short rest*, not long!
Always

I love this, it has the same energy as the skeletons one shot but with the full Oxventure crew.
Adventure Skeletons! is so fun. I ran it for a few groups of friends, and it has become a couple of campaigns. I plan on running it for the day at a local convention next month.
1:07:40 - anyone else notice Luke's Freudian slip of calling Andy's charismatic kobold Corazon? Hehe
I totally missed that and had to go watch that bit just now. Wouldn't surprise me if that was intentional.
Yep. I'm sure this will happen with the new crew too.
I don't think it was a slip, more of a joke about this kobold's personality.
@@ka-mai either way, lovely moment
Never noticed untill i saw this❤. If it was intentional, luke woild have said "Cora-bold" or something equally bad.
Wow when they said everyone's a Kobold I thougt like they are all Kobold pc's, not actual Kobolds who use the monster stats. I love it.
I know that’s what I expected… wouldn’t have thought just run of the mill Kobolds.
One of them should play a series of monster stat kobolds in the next DnD series, likely to need respawned several times per episode
When Luke said "I wouldn't bother writing the names down" it was clear it was going to be absolute chaos .... aka the reason we're all here 👌😄
I like to imagine Johnny's "aww dang it" was the slight disappointment that they didnt get to DM the first TPK after all the boss battles the Oxventurers have cheesed.
I thought so as well)
I'm saying nothing
[Nodding vigorously]
@JohnnyChiodini You oversaw the first TPK when you GMed You Awaken in a Strange Place.
Imagine? Nah, that is factually what happened, no notes
35:45 best part of this video is Luke's constant looks of "oh you sweet summer child, how nice of you to try."
Feel like Johnny missed the opportunity with being uninhibited to cast Moonbeam, it is like the easiest spell in DnD
I think Ellen would have flipped the table.
Can't be cast in caves there has to be at least ONE opening. Duh doy.
I thought it was gonna be learned when the kobold ate the tooth
The moral of the story is: Be as vacuous and uninhibited as possible.
Second moral, being healthy is too much effort and doesn't last long.
The basic Tenents of Kobold life.
I love Johnny taking real life psychic damage at Mike having not used a d4 before
Time stamp? Cause I totally missed that.
@@AmaranthyneOof I was really hoping nobody asked because it is not where I thought it was. Sorry. Hopefully someone with less kobold-esque intelligence or wisdom can help

@@davidchristie6003 🤣 Not in strength, constitution, charisma, or dexterity! Just a well read Kobold.
"The Prim and the Trendy," sounds like they'd be the hottest sitcom duo of the season, and I'd like to see that be a thing.
Seriously, though - Mike's performance as the Prim was absolutely _aces._ If only it'd lasted longer...
I love how easily they fall into the roles
Mike being so discouraged is hilarious
Luke is our guide through these vast new realities. Follow him and ponder the question “What do…?”
Underrated joke.
The best part was Ellen "um actuallying" the druids resources to win the day, lol
Calling it an, "Um, actually..." is really selling Ellen short. She's as cunning as Jayne Cobb's hat; she knew that all she had to do was wait for Luke to get carried away with taking disproportionate actions because Rule Of Cool (A Fête Worse Than Death, anyone?) and she would have him absolutely lawyered.
@@robstuart8474 *Fate. Do you even raison d'être, nerd bro?
@@BlackMoonHowls A Fête Worse Than Death is the Halloween Oxventure from a couple of years ago. In this one, Luke quickly derailed all of Johnny's plans by impulsively taking a Rule Of Cool spell opportunity. Ellen just needed to wait for him to do it again here and boom.

In that, arguably, with an assist from a Druid, a foolhardy Halfling, a troupe of Kobolds and a whole *room* of Kobolds, he caused *all* of them. Thanks to @ZeusBrown for cataloguing all the causes!
That face Luke makes mimicking Jane's character singing in front of the adventurers...I never knew I needed this in my life, but now that I have it, I'm eternally happy.
I don't know if Kobold lore is canon to DnD, but the Great Wyrm entering a trance to please the Kobold god gave me "bigfoot meditating for peace in his psychic torpor at the center of the earth" vibes.
200 wat? More like the game called 400 Days.
Very fun watch.
This session reaffirmed my belief that it would be fantastic to watch this group go through a level zero funnel.
...And someone mentioned in the chat that the game had Paranoia vibes, which is another game that would be a good fit for the group.
I wonder how they would fare in Fiasco?
I would love to see them play Paranoia. It could only be Jane as the computer, obviously.
Johnnie: "they all whip off their loinclothes and sling stones-small stones." Me: (thinking) Sounds like they've got some pretty big stones to me...
I really dig Jane's sweater
I like how Gitvisk goes from a Great Wyrm (a building sized dragon with godlike powers) to just a really old kobold that falls down a hole😅
It's not Three Kobolds in a Trenchcoat, but it's just as good. Long live my new favourite character, Era the Vacuous
"Shrang the puritanical - here to stop everyone's fun" is a hard favourite 😂😂
That was excellent, Kobolds are one of the most fun DnD creatures. I sort of want the Oxventure party to encounter a load of kobolds with the exact same personalities appearing in the same order as we saw here as they die off in their next one shot and see how long it takes them to catch on.
I went ‘I’ve got that shirt!’ When I saw Mike wearing the What do tee. Before realising I literally bought it from Oxboxtra 😂 Excellent session guys, glad Oxventure is back!
This has big "Shadow of Mordor" energy with the names/ personalities, and I am *here* for it! Next up, should there be Xvarts (Little Blue Gollums with Big Orange Eyes)? Or perhaps Kuo-ta? Or maybe Mephits, and you roll for what type of Mephit you come in as? Alternatively, the fully opposite end, everyone's a Pit Fiend!
Other lizard folk naming conventions ranges to "Sniffs-the-Feet" and "Pounds-the-Metal" depending on job roles and personal skills to "Toby" and "Sek".
My local in person group just finished a "little guys" campaign and I played a Kobold Sorcerer named Slip. He found a spellbook and now is 100% convinced he's a wizard. He has the Ritual Caster feat so he has a goose familiar that may or may not be an Eldritch Aberration.
Please please please use him as an NPC. I would be over the moon to see him somewhere in someone else's world
He will 100% be appearing in my campaign very shortly, don’t you worry.
Make that appearing in two universes, for that beloved NPC of yours shall have the "pleasure" of being in my world. Caern and It'd Be the last time the ever "slip" away. (Funny cause Kobolds have the "Squirm" ability as well) That goose is just a plain old goose but with a silly wizard hat on. Kobolds are not very smart so how would they tell a threat like a real goose or an actual Eldritch Abomination like my DMPC's. Ember Brimstone and Calix, her wolf girl human "pet" she made into one of those OP anime chicks. Another thing, Beggers can't be choosers. I give all my NPCs the AAA treatment. Give them a name a backstory and a reason to live and then I kill them most spectacularly. I watch a lot of 80's and 90's adult anime. Ever heard of Genocyber or how about Angel Cop? Mad Bull 34 ring a bell? See murder hobos in D&D are mean and problem players, but Caern in meaner still and will chew you up and spit you out like some kind of Sick Bubblegum Crisis all outta ass to kick. What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse of Science Fantasy. Lord of The Space Wars. Planet Trekking. Sky Jogging and Ham Sewing. It'll be all fun and games until the Cyber MP's show up and wreck shit with their Tank Police.
I played one of 30 kobolds defending a college building from a team of five adventurers. Needless to say, we all died, but not without putting up a good fight.
'Is this your urine?'
'No, I said "tea," not "wine!"'

Love this! My D&D playgroup did a similar thing a couple of years ago… we were all Goblins. We died horribly. (Cannot recommend Epic Encounters for their adventures with mini’s for a 1-2 shot session)
An in-joke from that session span out a new order our characters belonged to, The Order of the Red Tabard! We now have lore, multiple campaigns and many references to a certain “space based” tv and movie series.
Also when the Games Night side of the Yogscast they did the same thing. I liked their Star Wars campaign and their Call of Cthulhu better. That was before they all...well you know became lame. Then all of a sudden for a short time, Sam Strippen was a part of them. You know from Criken's Crew, Tomato and Bed Bananas and Scifri?
Everyone is a Kobold was wonderful in a unique way. Great to see Luke doing the story. Thanks for all the laughter.👍👍

I've had a rather crappy day and badly needed the many laughs this has given me. I love Luke's adventurers he made for this one and how he's playing them. I love all the kobolds. His reaction when they all got sassy about the map and pointing at the tunnels was hilarious and it reminded me of when Johnny had that Death Knight hurl a hellfire ball at Dob that one time. Andy-kobold drowning the high-elf was so unexpected and I love it. I swear this was the five of them seeing just how much they could mess with Luke and I'm 100% here for that. The Dragonborn rolling a critical 1 to swim across the river had me wheezing and coughing from laughing so hard.
Oh man, I knew Johnny was going to interpret "the private" as being like a military private rather than a private kobold (I did the same thing).
I love Ellen chiming in with all the druid knowledge at the end. Luke keeping the druid in character and not just having her use something that would actually work against the kobolds is very nice. I also love that Jane had the same kobold for most of the session. I do believe I'm going to revisit this one often when I need a good laugh and cheering up.
