Picked up a 6s recently. Had a 15 dollar razor from from some site I bought years ago so i'm not completly new to dual edge. Also purchased a couple different soaps, a nice stubby brush and the same bowl. Really enjoying it so far. Took a couple weeks for my skin to get used to the changes. The alum block was a game changer for me, combined with Nivea balm, it's been great. Also bought a variety pack of blades to figure out what works best for me. I actually look forward to shaving now.
David, I just bought the 6C gunmetal. First shave was insanely good. Huge step up. If any one is still sitting on it and unsure. Just get it. What David is saying about it is true!

Hi David this is another wonderful tutorial!👍🏾😊 Honestly I have learnt so much from your UA-cam videos, and have developed shaving techniques I learnt from you. Just recently I did a first time head shave with the R6 plate on my Rockwell 6C, and had the smoothest head BBS ever with 3 careful no-rush passes on 5days hair growth. Rockwell 6C has truly given me nearly 100% face and head shave satisfaction so far. Thanks again for your well-rounded teachings on wet shaving. You are sincerely appreciated.❤👍🏾
Thank you. Love my 6C. As soon as Rockwell will release the 6S in for example a wooden box instead of the leather booklet I will treat myself on the 6S. Have a good weekend 🙏

Great video. Because of you videos with the timeless razors I got the slant and the .95 open and scalloped baseplate with the scalloped top cap. Spectacular, It’s incredible thank you for all the information!
I have almost identical growth pattern as you (and I think most people do) on the neck and what I found works best for that area is an against the grain but not perpendicular, rather at a diagonal angle. So it’s still down towards the ground sort of like against the grain, but more diagonal away from the Adam’s apple. I haven't used my 6c for the last month or so. Been sticking with the Timeless Aluminum Slant. Will swap to the 6c when I need to change blades. Great shave as always!
I love my 6c. I use it the most and I haven't had a problem with it at all. I do wish I'd have spent the extra for the 6s but I'm gonna ride the 6c until I have a problem and then I plan to upgrade.I never use any plate than the 6 on my head and face and it gives perfect results every time. I also love the Rockwell barber shop soap and aftershave. One of my favorites for sure.Alum a must! Thayer's bf aftershave but when I use Phillips balm I like to apply the balm and spread it with the Thayer's. The fresh feeling lasts a lot longer.. great video Dave! MERICA!
I bought the same Personna blades a couple months ago. Really happy with the free blades, all the while thinking I was getting Comfort Coats. Same thing, I opened them up and they were marked Platinum Chrome just like my pack of Personna Platinums. Anyway, they perform great! Thanks for sharing
I would love to see you incorporate a top view, in small pip , of your sink and bowl work. I trust you, just wld love to see the rubber hit the road. Rockwell is top notch. Thanks
I started with a 6C, and knew I mainly used the 4 plate. I saved money by buying 6S components with only that plate. It was during a sale, and only cost about $10 more than a 6C. I got a blue handle, red 4/2 plate, and gray cap for a patriotic look.
I was going to call you out on the quick flash of the T2 with no comment, but you brought it home and I love how you commented on the difference and the sharpness. I too have sensitive skin on the neck and I do 5 on my gunmetal T2 on the neck. 6 just eats me up. Would you recommend buying the 6S if you already have the T2 or change it up with something different like a Timeless? #safetyrazor #shaving #howtoshave
Nice video sir. Always learn a new tip for improving the shave experience. I have the 6C that I started with. Tried the Supply SE which is a quality razor but a bit mild for me. Also tried the Leaf but I didn't get in the groove with it. I now use the Henson 13 ++ of which I settled with. It's all about what each individual prefers or adapts to for the best shave. All of your recommended products perform very well for me.👍
I feel me biggest mistakes are still chasing that BBS on my neck 😢 it seems regardless of razor, blade, soap, brush, lather style, or shave direction, my neck always breaks out. Still. Even after switching away from going against the grain on my neck at all, and just doing two passes, I think it’s time to try just one WTG pass on my lower neck. Idk. Good video, and I’m glad you’ve found and stuck with what works for you David! You’ve improved so much since your first videos!
I'm going for the Rockwell T2 to change things up, my Parker variant open comb is crazy aggressive. I thought I could handle it but after turning my face into freddy kruegers from a bad shave, I'm not using it anymore.
I’ve owned the 6c for 2 years now, and I’ve never thought to go against the grain with the 6 plate.2 years ago my beard wasn’t as thick as it is now and I could shave against the grain regularly, while now I cannot do it.But I might give it a try the next time with some mild blade. Can you give me recommendations for a mild to medium blade?
Works great for me. The greatest asset of the Rockwell is that even though it's a more aggressive plate, it still has zero blade feel and it just is so easy to maneuver and get such a smooth, clean shave. With super sharp blades like a feather, I bump it down to a four plate
As always a great video. I'm currently testing the 6S against the Karve Overlander. So far they're neck and neck in shave quality (with the S6 on a 3 or 4). But for me the Overlander wins on balance, ergonomics, and appearance; especially after buffing the brass to a shine. I'm hoping you'll give the Overlander a try in an upcoming episode and compare to the Rockwell.
@@OhioShaves BTW, I tried the Overlander with your Personna blade and the Feather. I found the Personna left me a bit smoother. Also, note how close to the cutting edge the Overlander clamps the blade. This is likely the reason others have commented about the lack of blade chatter in that razor.
Great vid as usual. Can’t beat a Rockwell with the Persona. Years ago I got my first razor- Rockwell 2C and have been shaving on plate 3. May be time to order the 5-6 plate and up my game. Thought s? Keep em coming.
I’ll be buying the T2. I’m nostalgic and would like to have an updated and more modern version of the Gillette Fatboy… IMO, the T2 appears to be that razor. Thanks for another great video, Dave! Go Blue! 🔵🟡〽️ (Yes, I’m still living off that championship! 😂)
Great video. I prefer my 6s over the 6s. It feels smoother to me. I also use Thayer's Facial Toner. It's great. Give Thayer's pH Balancing Daily Cleanser, Face Wash with Aloe Vera a try. It leaves my skin very soft. It's great at night. Have a great weekend. 👍
Enjoyed the video! Just recently got the 6s (have been using the 6c) so I’m looking forward to doing my comparison. Like you, I have very coarse hair & sensitive skin. On a different note, I read somewhere that Nivea changed the formulation for their sensitive after shave balm - do you know if that’s valid?
My Parker alum block is chipping...every corner and edge is jagged and sharp. So they are compressing tiny bits of alum and making it a block. My question is, why is mine chipping?? I saw someone else saying this before I got mine. It appeared the best value but I'm about to toss it because it's super annoying. Even the large flat sides have pieces just vanishing. When I'm done using it I just dab it with a towel to get most of the moisture off, then leave it back in the case on its side to dry the rest of the way. I got a free Razorock alum stick from an ebayer so I may just start using that.
Got home not too long ago & found this on Amazon - “Yes, there was a formula change. Due to customer complaints they have went back to the old formula. I contacted CS in JAN. 2023 and that is what I was told” 🙂
I would like to see a discussion on the Teflon used on blades. I know as the coating starts to wear off, the blade becomes sharper. Some people are trying to avoid teflon, but as far as I know, it's on a lot of the blades. Some have mentioned that the Personna feels sharper on shave 2 or 3, due to the coating coming off. Now, as far as I know, the teflon is safe as long as it isn't heated beyond a certain temperature which is quite high.
@nthdegree, Unfortunately, most coated blades use a combination or sequence of coatings that are proprietary and manufacturers are not forthcoming about whether they use teflon. I suspect that nearly all coated SS DE blades are treated with teflon. Uncoated blades are, IMO, no where near as smooth. I do avoid teflon, particularly in the kitchen. Teflon enters the body largely through food preparation. It flakes off of pans and ends up on your plate. It also becomes aerosolized when a teflon coated pan is overheated. Bird owners know that teflon pans will kill their birds from these aerosolized particles. I have chosen to ignore the teflon coating on my DE blades because there isn't anything I can practically do to avoid it. I am far more concerned about pthalates and SLS in my personal care products. The former are endocrine disruptors and the latter is carcinogenic. I avoid these vigorously.
@@ivermec-tin666 Interesting thoughts there. I think people need to flush this out more and get a clearer picture. Things thought of as benign like Dental Floss have certain questionable substances. @@nthdegree1269 Some people avoid the use of an alum block for this reason. It is, imo, important to be conscious of the fact that the skin is inherently porous. thanks...good tips in there...how do you like the Platinum compared to the rest of the line? It's the only Personna I've used and along with Perma-Sharp, has been my favorite.
If you like no fuss shaving then the leaf if you are not new to safety Razor shaving, I would consider the 6s. The leaf razor is just so easy to use. I can shave my head without a mirror if I had to. Blades are subjective. I would suggest buying a variety pack if you don't already have some blades.
Besides where Personna blades are made, each a little different in manufacturing. Comfort coated Personna blades have ptfe coating(teflon). Personna platinum have platinum coating. Personna med preps gave no coating, but are supposedly sterized for medical use. Only slightly different feel between each blade due to different coatings or none at all. Plus the platinum 1 made in Germany may have a different bevel grind than the American made ones. Almost unnoticeable for most inexperienced shavers
I just shaved with a Wilkinson Sword Classic and an Astra Superior Platinum blade. I got irritation on the neck on my third pass(the against the grain pass). Which blade is sharpest between Gillette Stainless and Astra Superior Platinum?
@@OhioShaves Thanks. I meant that I shaved with a Wilkinson Sword Classic safety razor with an Astra Superior Platinum blade. How do you clean a safety razor and a shaving brush?
Everyone is different. Rockwell 6 is alright. It gives a comfortable shave without the blade feel or efficiency. So if you prefer some blade feel, this razor doesn’t do it. Personna comforts definitely are not impressive. Not sharp enough and longevity is not there in my opinion. Thanks sharing. Great shave.
Brother David be very careful with your shaves with them they look very sharp just like that straight razor did I will definitely join your channel when I can brother do you have some possible way that me and you could talk more privately about shaving with each other and get to know each other more and talk about possibly even getting together sometime soon with each other and do a shave and video together brother your the closest wet shaver to me at least I think brother David I know I definitely would like to meet you sometime and have a shave with each other and talk more with you.
For sensitive skin, I recommend a first pass with an electric shaver, then use the blade razor. I find a lot of irritation is on that first pass, especially with cartridges. The electric shaver is really gentle on the first pass. After that, I don't see any irritation, no matter what razor I use.

If you like no fuss shaving then the leaf if you are not new to safety Razor shaving, I would consider the 6s. The leaf razor is just so easy to use. I can shave my head without a mirror if I had to. Blades are subjective. I would suggest buying a variety pack if you don't already have some blades.
Have a great day everyone
Cheers. You as well
Besides where Personna blades are made, each a little different in manufacturing.

Can you review Yaqi products?
I’m really not a big fan of china made products.
You cannot really go wrong with 6S. Hard to beat this amazing razor even by the high end expensive kind. Its mind blowing.
Totally agree.
Can you do a review on the supply se pro ?
Maybe Someday but it’s not on my radar.
Have u done proof razor pivot ???
Not a fan. but a lot of people like them. That's the great thing as shaving. Becomes a hobby.
Did even have chance to do video with GUILLETTE KING C safety razor, great video by the way 🔥👌
It's not that great of a Razor.
@@OhioShaves aha,tnx man ,glad you answer to me🤝
I just shaved with a Wilkinson Sword Classic and an Astra Superior Platinum blade. I got irritation on the neck on my third pass(the against the grain pass). Which blade is sharpest between Gillette Stainless and Astra Superior Platinum?
Wilkinson sword in my opinion or sharper than the astra blades
@@OhioShaves Thanks. I meant that I shaved with a Wilkinson Sword Classic safety razor with an Astra Superior Platinum blade. How do you clean a safety razor and a shaving brush?
Soappy dish water and a comb for the brush. Drench the brush in the soapy water and run your comb through the brush multiple times. Rinse and let dry
@@OhioShaves Thanks.
Can you use a safety razor on your head? I have a bold head ?
Sure can
You got to bring back the full goatee with mustache. You look a 1000X better with it.
😎
Everyone is different. Rockwell 6 is alright. It gives a comfortable shave without the blade feel or efficiency. So if you prefer some blade feel, this razor doesn’t do it. Personna comforts definitely are not impressive. Not sharp enough and longevity is not there in my opinion. Thanks sharing. Great shave.
Thanks for sharing.
Yep. When it stings with water, I know that the alum block is gonna party on my face.
Right on
Brother David be very careful with your shaves with them they look very sharp just like that straight razor did I will definitely join your channel when I can brother do you have some possible way that me and you could talk more privately about shaving with each other and get to know each other more and talk about possibly even getting together sometime soon with each other and do a shave and video together brother your the closest wet shaver to me at least I think brother David I know I definitely would like to meet you sometime and have a shave with each other and talk more with you.

Yup! My bad dude! 😂
👍
What is the best way to clean your razor?
I use an old tooth brush and some dish soap.
For sensitive skin, I recommend a first pass with an electric shaver, then use the blade razor. I find a lot of irritation is on that first pass, especially with cartridges. The electric shaver is really gentle on the first pass. After that, I don't see any irritation, no matter what razor I use.
Thanks for the comment
No over tighty no breaky.
🤔
@@OhioShaves I do no over tighten my Rockwell. That might serve one well. if stainless its stronger. Dont use a jackhammer to tighten your eyeglasses boys and your good. Yor the pro. Thank you😌

@@OhioShaves I imagined!!! 😉👍🏻
These Rockwells have a fairly bulky head and I cannot get over that aspect. Don't really care about their performance. They're pretty ugly and non elegant in my book. No offence to anyone, just an opinion
What razor do you use?
@@OhioShaves
Tatara Masamune. I find it to be an ideal razor in every aesthetic and ergonomic/practical way possible.
Also Personna blades are a real pain for me. Stopped using them a long time ago. Astra SP all the way.
All this being said, everybody's different.
Everyone is different
