Yep, and I have the bank balance to prove it 😂😳. The interesting thing is I got my son using a safety razor from the beginning, and he has zero interest in the hobby. For him it’s just a tool and it’s the only thing he knows (he’s 17). He uses one razor/ soap/ balm etc. and replaces things only when they run out. So he is genuinely getting cheaper (and better) shaves than his mates who use cartridges. Over his lifetime he’ll save $$$! Unlike his dad 😂
Hahahaha. I’m already there! Can’t believe how addicted I’ve become in such a short time. I’ve been on the lazy, cartridge razor program for years. In Vietnam 69-70 we had poor DE options and lousy results. But now, Wow, I’m all in…{thanks Ohio Shaves!!!!). Just finished my 4th shave with the T2, and just ordered the Henson Ti22/medium as a second razor.
I found you about three weeks ago. I bought a mild Henson first, then I bought some TOBS shaving cream, a rigid bowl and collapsible bowl, Simpson T3 brush, TOBS pre-shave oil, a bottle of Thayers, three classic after shaves (Brut, Pinaud Clubman, Old Spice), an alum block and four 100 packs of blades (RK, Derby, Astra, Gillette Platinum). All of this has changed my life. I look forward to shaving every day. I love the experience and feel like I just left the barber shop every time I shave. I’m so glad the Henson Facebook Ad sent me down the rabbit hole of wet shaving and brought me to your page. Cheers! I just came back to edit this comment as I just purchased a Rockwell 6C J. Crew edition on sale for $36. Life is good!
I watched answers with Joe and saw the Henson, couldn't get one at first so got a Qshave. that was 3 weeks ago. now have Two Qshaves , A Henson, A Rockwell 2c, a Yintal and a Pearl Flexi Black. plus soaps and balms.
You are the single biggest reason I made the change and it has been such a smooth transition. Started with a $10 safety razor, now I have a Sterling synthetic brush, soaps, collapsible shaving bowl, nivea balm, alum block, and now I'm waiting for the Rockwell 6s black to show up. Everything was so good I even got my friend into it. Best thing that's ever happened to us. Thank you!
I wish I knew the importance of a high quality shaving cream. Also the alum block is a real game changer to help razor burn and shaving bumps. Need to try the toner yet but I'm getting there. Thanks for the great videos.
I just got into safety razors because I ran across your channel. We have a similar profile with the bald head and thick hair. I am hooked !! Thanks for your videos!
I started with the 6c gunmetal and it's great. I was thinking of upgrading to the t2 ss but I'm concerned about the matte finish. I've heard it drags and is not as smooth as the gunmetal . What is your opinion on that?
@@BryanD_XRP synthetic brush the Razor Company has some really good synthetic brushes at a very reasonable cost. Here's a link: The Razor Company Link: www.therazorcompany.com?sca_ref=1851327.Ce931qpugF
The TRC aluminum razor looks fantastic. I would love to give it a try. Everyone on UA-cam says great things about it. Thank you for your time and experience, it's priceless. Cheers to nothing but great shaves!
Your videos converted me this year! I'm a Leaf Twig man, but will be in the market for the Leaf razor as the head is losing it's battle with father time!
Why did I wait so long? Easy to answer. I bought the multi-blade hype from the very beginning. I started shaving about the time multi-blade stuff came out. I just didn't know any better. I started DE shaving last winter, at 67 years old, and will never look back. Better late than never, I guess. And the soaps are so vastly superior too. I still keep an aerosol foam can in my vacation gear. It's like smearing my face with clay or peanut butter after using quality shaving soap.
My initial setup: - $19.99 for a Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars endorsed piece of metal at Bed Bath and Beyond - This came with five blades - $15’ish for a Wilkerson shave mug with puck - $4.99 for a “shed-o-matic” brush the grocery store had *So, for around $50.00 USD I was forever changed.* I knew I needed better, so after researching blades, I bought a 100 count sleeve of Feather (yellow) blades. These turned this cheap razor into something usable. After this, I started trying better soaps. The absolute best was Bull and Pen, but I didn’t know how to lather a real soap yet, so I hated it. If I knew then he would go out of business I would have bought everything he had in stock. Alas, ignorance bit me in the behind. I moved to The Soap Exchange for a few tubs, but right now, I’m really enjoying Trade Winds tubs made with tallow. Most of their tubs are around $16.00, lather well, and stay slick. A $50.00 soap may be good, but why pay $35.00 for brand recognition and advertising? I got a few cheap brushes from Amazon that had zero lift. Again, ignorance biting me. I finally got a Simpson Trafalgar Synthetic for around $30.00 and it’s a great brush. I don’t need silver tip badger in titanium and gold handle with diamonds chips around the knot. My mother-in-law gave me one of my fathers-in-laws slant razors for Christmas; which was my first major upgrade. And I found slants to be the best for my insanely coarse whiskers. Then my wife bought me a Viking Emperor Augustus adjustable for a birthday a few years ago, and setting 3 seems to be about perfect for me. So I use the slant in the shower with goat soap, and the adjustable at the sink with Trade Winds Sandalwood or Citrus Spice. So in nearly nine years, I have less than a few hundred dollars invested in the best shaves I ever got in my half century plus life.

Came back to DE shaving over the summer. Currently using the Twig which I love. Planning on getting another razor as a Christmas gift to myself. Really like the T.O.B shaving soaps
Wow I’m almost caught up with your videos! I started on your very first video and I have enjoyed my way to this video! I say wet shaving is like a facial spa for men! I have been wet shaving for the past 2-4 months and I’m LOVING it!! Thank you for your content, now on to the next video’ 😊
@@OhioShaves you’re most welcome! You have taught me a lot through your videos! I hope to one day meet you in person at a meet up and shake your hand. 👍👍👍
This is probably the best video you've put out there for someone thinking about switching to traditional safety razor shaving. Your experiences are my experiences. Besides technique and a good safety razor, face prep and a post-shave routine of alum, witch hazel, and balm make all the difference. Fortunately, after a couple of years I climbed out of the rabbit hole. Basically, I ran out of space to store all of my shaving "stuff." Kudos on this video.
@@OhioShaves No lie I have 4 new Rockwell barbershop scent bars of shaving soap as backup and currently using a fifth one. Yes I love it and thats after using 3 other top shelf brands and types. So do I drop the change on ROCKWELL barbershop scent balm even though its 2X Nivea's price? Yes I love the scent. Will try. But still looking for an unscented balm. thanks
I haven’t found a unscented aftershave that I liked. Leaf shave does have a serum oil that I use post shave on my head and face. I’m not sure if this may be what you’re looking towards or not.
Got my second BBS shave ever (with a DE) this morning after using Leaf pre shave oil and face lathering with my boar hair brush for about 2-3 minutes. No nicks or cuts. Still using a crappy Weishi butterfly razor and a Gillette Silver Blue with 4 shaves on it now. Bit of sensitivity near the crease of the neck just left and right of center, but not bad. Looking forward to getting a Henson Al13 and Rockwell 6c during the holidays to see how much better they are.
While it’s great using a brush and soap, some nights, I just use Barbasol, out of laziness, and it works out pretty well. If you don’t want to invest in all of it at once, Barbasol will work out just fine.
I didn't learn how to use a safety razor. In fact, i started shaving with one 52 years ago, back in 1972, and i mostly do. Sometimes i use a mach 3 when in a hurry but that's it. I just watched my dad shaving and started. Of course i got some cuts in the first 30 days but after it i no longer got cuts unless i distract myself. I mean i think it is pretty easy to use one.
@@OhioShaves Personally, Even with a de razor, I can't chase the "bbs"! Even with a cart or disposable.. And believe it or not I've actually gotten my best shaves (including BBS) with an electric shaver and edge gel sensitive skin!! This combination just works great for me!!!
I bought that Thayers bottle along with 3 other items but amazon has yet to deliver them due to the winter weather we just had. It's actually cheaper at my local walmart so I'll probably cancel it and get two of the 4 at walmart.
Hello, David how are you, wish you and your family all the best, David I have one DORCO PL602 a Korean DE razor two piece made up of plastic but just an incredible safety razor if you happen to get it then I must say that you will definitely like it too🙏🙏🙏
Great video, my experience is much like yours! When are you going to try that TRC Stainless Steel ? I love it! The rabbit hole, oh man do you have to watch out for the rabbit hole. I went deep into it, and have tried so many razors. I guess I can say, at least I know with confidence what razors I like the best because I only use a few of them frequently. You can shave with DE razors so cheaply if you can just avoid the rabbit hole !
Thank you for about great upload. How many days growth would you suggest to make a good grain map? My hair grows in many different directions and circles in at least 3 places, but I have never done any real grain mapping.
How many days it takes for you to see the direction of your hair growth. For me it's about three or four days and I use a credit card and listen to the sound
I will try the credit card and see how that goes. Once a long time ago I got my wife to try and describe it after I let it grow out about 5 days. Poor her. My beard is vicious. Do you think the Rockwell 6S/6C is a reasonable consideration for a really coarse beard that grows in circles in several spots and multidirectional same area 55% of my face. Someone has suggested I might consider OC. No traditional DE besides a Slim from around 68. Nothing slices through my beard in the toughest areas 😢 Twig Thorn struggles too much, Leaf OG does well if I use slot 2 and 3 in tough areas. Would an OC help by not trying to cut at the toughest areas at the same time? Is there a milder or moderate OC. I'm all over the place because I am also wondering if a slant would serve me well. I use Med Preps and just snagged some Permasharps but didn't notice a huge difference. I do think I need to jump on board with a tallow based soap for extra slickness and great cushion. A few quick bullet points would be appreciated.
@@christopheratkinson635 I would bump the Rockwell to the six plate. I shave it all the time. Slant razors are terrible on my face. open comb, razors are very aggressive so you need to have great technique before you make the switch to it.
The easiest razor in my opinion is the MUHLE 89 or 89 Twist, it's mild and extremely efficient. More importantly is building a healthy lather and making sure your skin stays moist. I recommend using a spray bottle on your face before each pass. And finish with an Alum block, Toner and then a balm! Don't forget to print a face chart from Razor Emporium and map the direction of you hair growth. Time to shave and enjoy the hobby!
@OhioShaves I went with the Henson mild which is a fantastic razor. I just wish it was a little more aggressive. I have really coarse hair, and I have to shave everyday and by the mid afternoon I have a good bit of growth back already. Do you have any tips for that? Maybe it's not the aggression.
@OhioShaves after 3 passes and touch ups around my Adam's apple it will be BBS. I did pick a sample pack of blades, I can say with the henson I have no irritation after the shave it's a wonderful shave
Have enjoyed your channel for some time now. You were / are a positive influence that got me into wet shaving. No more shave cream cans for me. Used to watch my father wet shave. Always thought it to be fascinating. The experiences you share are so valuable, especially to beginners. FIVE STARS for your channel: * * * * * FMR Intelligence Officer
#ohioshaves giveaway: I totally agree. I started this journey as a birthday gift from my wife a couple years ago. I am now 15 razors in, have around 5 - 6 soaps, and three brushes, three different blades and a bowl. Since the switch, my face does look better but on average it takes me a good 10 - 12 minutes to shave (probably because I have hard soaps versus creams). I think I got out of the rabbit hole of buying new stuff as I am running out of space in the medicine cabinet for them, and the rising cost of things. Me personally I am usually half-awake out of the shower in the morning and want something where I do not have to think. I have the daily driver razors, that I usually let my daughter pick out the night before and keep the Rockwell 6S should I not shave for a while so that it can cut through the beard growth. Also weight, while I prefer SS or titanium, those have gotten a little out of my price range (especially titanium). If I am getting a good shave from a razor from a different material, I do not see the point in getting them in another material especially when they are 2 to 5 times the price of the original. The thorn and twig are good examples. Have both of them, use different blades in each but when I saw the stainless steel version was coming out, didn't see a reason to get it. Definitely start with the beginner razors or a mercur 34c as it is forgiving. Also don't be afraid of razors with pivoting head. The benefit of the cost savings is on the blades themselves versus the cartridges. If you like one with a pivoting head because you can't get the angle down and press too hard, so be it. The head will help correct the angle for you as a cartridge razor did. Also don't chase BBS shaves. Do a 3-pass shave and if you get a BBS shave great, if not it is pretty damn fine shave, and no one will notice. For people with sensitive skin, the more passes, the more chance of irritation. After the shave definitely Alumn block, thayers and/ or a balm. Avoid the alcoholic ones unless you like that burn. Get a blade variety pack and try different blades. Some blades work better in some razors then others as it has to do with the blade gap and geometry of the head. Once you find something you like, then go experiment with other razors.
Only 4 months in and it took me that long to just accept 2 passes will get me to good enough. I still have to touch up my jaw area but I have stopped with trying a 3rd pass. My skin has thanked me immensely the last couple of weeks. That is a great tip about not chasing BBS because most won't be able to tell the difference between BBS and DFS.
#ohioshaves giveaway. Love the Thayers. My daughters used to use it as part of their skin care routine, so l had an old bottle to try. I like the cucumber scent, it is fresh and invigorating on the skin. Winter is coming up here in Edmonton, Canada, so skin care is vital in the cold, dry weather.
#ohioshaves giveaway. Thanks for another great giveaway opportunity. The main thing that i wish I knew before i switched is to switch earlier😂. And you're spot on about how mindboggling it is the way the razor goes through the hair like warm butter. That feeling never gets old.
#ohioshaves giveaway I’m glad I made the switch to safety razor shaving. I even look forward to shaving on the weekends since I can put in more time on my shaves. Have a great holiday!
#ohioshaves giveaway Great video, and all valid points. I came back to safety razors about 4 years ago. I'm actually old enough to have begun shaving with a Gillette Super Speed as a teenager and switched to the Gillette Trac II in 1971 when it was introduced as the best thing since sliced bread (wrong!). I am now retired, so the time factor is not as critical as it used to be. The word I use to describe traditional wet shaving is therapeutic. I never in my wildest dreams would have ever thought that shaving could actually be enjoyable and something to look forward to every day. Keep on spreading the gospel!
#ohiosaves giveaway To your 5 points as I think we have a similar safety razor/wet shave journey (though you are much further along than me). 1: Technique: I'm doing my best to hone it but there is one part of my face that I seriously struggle with...around the jaw. That's the one location I still can't get the angle right on. But instead of frustration I now see it as a challenge to get right. 2: Product: Shaving soap and brush has been a life changer for me. I'm using dr. squash aloe vera I have left over as a preshave and nightly face wash and it has helped me. I have noticed that depending on the cream either a bowl or face works better. I'm still having to tell myself 'just a little water don't dunk' when adding water to the brush to load the brush and face lather. As for the Alum Block, I am honestly appreciative of it to stop those nicks. The one thing I've noticed with an alum block is it stops those silent weepers that want to pool up after the shave. I also am surprised how little pressure is needed to stop those weepers as well. As for Thayers, I'll use it twice a day even on days I don't shave just to keep my face freshened up after a quick face wash. As for after shave, the Nivea has worked well for me very well and will be looking to add a variety of after shave balms (I'm eyeing the PAA jelly's). And it's nice to know once you feel the razor tugging a little you can dispose and not feel guilty about the replacement cost. 3: Time: Something I didn't realize I needed until I started this journey but for a different reason. I'm by and large a night shaver and the whole process has been a huge help in decompressing from life's events and mentally resetting. The level of stress has significantly gone down since, more so in the last 30 days since it's clicked with me and I honestly look forward to it. As for the face mapping. I do north to south and then eye to nose above the jaw line and about 7 to 2 below the jaw line 5: Rabbit Hole: This has been the most 'da what' since I started this journey. I have enjoyed learning about other products and finding out which ones work best for me...and it's more than I ever thought. And it's something I can see myself adding to my collection to give away as gifts to help them in their journey. My initial investment was about the same, but now I look forward to treating myself to a new product. The other good thing about the rabbit hole is with all the tech out there now, one will find a razor and blade for thee and if it isn't for me that's okay to because something else works for me better but we both have the same enjoyment. Fun introductory video for those wanting to get into wet shaving.
#ohioshaves giveaway. I'm back to the DE safety razor. I gave it up in my late teens or early 20s when the Bic Disposable came along. I can't say I'm saving any money since I'm going down the rabbit hole, though I do get a much better shave. Thanks for the tips, tricks and insight.
#ohioshaves giveaway I recently dropped my Henson and it will no longer thread onto any handle. Was thinking about trying the TRC since it has steel inserts.

#ohioshaves giveaway Great video and advice! I started using the Thayer's unscented facial toner in my shaving routine after watching you talk about it. It really does make the skin feel good after a shave then add a balm on after that.
#ohioshaves giveaway Great video! I've been using a brush with cartridge razors for more than a decade, but now when I switched to safety razors, and discovered soaps, man it just gets more and more exciting.
#ohioshaves giveaway the rabbit hole is so true. When you have that perfect shave it’s tough not to think “but could it be better.” And then you start the search again for that better razor-razor blade combo. I’d say once you find that perfect combo stick with it for at least three weeks and then re-evaluate your setup again
You’ve sold me on the Thayers. Amazon have it half price right now and I’ve been on the fence since I seen you recommend it before. How often do you use it may I ask?
#ohioshaves giveaway. A very interesting summary of important things to remember when switching from cartridge to safety razors. It really is like shaving again.
#ohioshaves giveaway Great video. I did cackle at the rabbit hole. I totally agree. I have to shave everyday for work and I was using a really cheap safety razor and switched to a Rockwell a few weeks ago because of your videos. I'm so happy I made the change. My next goal is changing out from my 10 year old cheap amazon badger brush to a nice synthetic brush. I was looking at TRC and Simpson because of your videos. I'd love to see more small batch soap/aftershare reviews if you have time. Enjoy Thanksgiving and love the new logo!
#ohioshaves giveaway. TRC is a great vendor. Don’t understate how deep the rabbit hole can be. I’ve been shaving this way for almost 4 years and all my “savings” are long gone.
#ohioshaves giveaway: The rabbit hole can get very deep, just ask me. I keep watching all these great videos with the best and greatest product and just must have it. I'm not buying as much now as I tried to full that rabbit hole in. 😂😂
#ohioshaves giveaway I remember when I first started on safety razors, I spend 45 min every night trying to learn, when I got the hang of it, it was pretty sweet. I got a cheap horse bristle brush too then. Didn't know I had to shampoo them so I ended up smelling real musky for a few weeks 😂
#ohioshaves giveaway Another great video, perfect for every beginner. I feel that I'm just entering the rabbit hole. Started with Henson AL13 - following your recommendation. Now I'm waiting for my Rockwell 6S set, couldn't resist their Black Friday deal :)

Can’t wait. Have been following you ever since I made the switch. After watching several other channels you are by far the most user friendly and informative. Made it easy to jump “down the rabbit hole”. 😂
@@OhioShaves Looks great. Are you using Final Cut Pro? If so, and you are using more than one camera for footage, I would suggest jumping into multi-cam editing. Really makes a difference in switching camera angles and working with audio. Transitions look good and switching the backgrounds makes it eye appealing. Any other ?? let me know.
I am using Final Cut Pro. Still learning to use it. I think it’s more than enough for anything that I might do. I tried da Vinci resolve for a couple of months and I really didn’t want to spend the time to learn an editing software just from making the basic, cut and transitions to different shots. I’ll look into the multi camera editing. Thanks for your input.
#ohioshaves giveaway Appreciate the content, watched several of your videos, don’t know why I didn’t sub before. You’re so right about the rabbit hole, found a ‘64 Gillette slim adjustable early that is the perfect razor for me, but the soaps and aftershaves are killing me. Why do I need so many? 😂

#ohioshaves giveaway Great video. I just started wet shaving a few weeks ago and have purchased both a Leaf Twig and a Parker open comb based on your recommendations. Saying goodbye to my Mach 3
#ohioshaves giveaway Yeah man, we've all been down the rabbit hole , and we like it 😁 As for reasons why so many guys wait so long before making a switch to safety razors , i would say time spent cuz everyone wants 2min shaves nowadays , even if that means razor burn and bumps , and also agressive marketing from Gillette and other cartridge giants , i think i never saw commercial on tv about safety razors. Great video as always 👊
@@OhioShaves I've used a Braun electric all my life. But those who know me would say I'm almost always scruffy because like I always say the one thing I hate more than scruffy stubble is shaving. 🤣 Which makes for a bad catch 22. To shave or not to shave! Im growing more convinced lately that the biggest reason I actually hate shaving is because of the electric razor hence why I'm looking into other options. It seem like safety razor is really hands down the way to go and highly preferred by a lot of people. But is it preferred because the enjoy the experience of the shave or because it's truly superior. I dug up a very old fusion proglide that I have a bunch of blades for that's almost never been used to start learning my face with while I research which products to invest in first.
#ohioshaves giveaway: I started this journey about 6, 7 months ago and I must say I'm much happier. I look forward to shaving even though it takes me longer. When recently buying a good shaving soap it's astonishing how much of difference just that single purchase made. I can use my Henson ++ and 2c with no problem now and it is just a great experience all over. I bought a lot of things in bulk like my razor blades and a big block of soap. I do want to buy other razors but I'll do that when I'm out of college.
@@OhioShaves yes all thanks to you. It's nice to find content that you can relate to because we have more or less of the same problems when it comes to skin sensitivity. Eu sei que por ter pele sensível, a escova de texugo, agitada, minha pele e me causou erupções. Como se costuma dizer na comunidade de barbear molhado, sua milhagem pode variar. Obrigado pelo seu apoio do Brasil 👍
Why switch in my case? I never had ingrown hair or irritation 🤷🏻♂️ and I simply don't buy the claim that cutting the hair slightly UNDER the skin level will deliver a LESS smooth shave than the DE cut AT skin level. If cost is the only advantage left for me, then why switch? A hundred dollars more a year are worth the greater convenience, for me. It would be different if the DE shave were ACTUALLY smoother than the cartridge, but I simply don't buy that, sorry 🤷🏻♂️
#ohioshaves giveaway While the variety of razors/brushes/soaps available plays a huge part in the enjoyment of wet shaving, new shavers always need to have a budget in mind and not exceed what they can easily afford.
💈👍
I think the stainless steel model is smoother than the original T2

I bought a Henson as my 3rd razor, 1st was a Viking, then a merkur. The Henson is the best razor ever in my humble opinion. It’s just perfect.
Great razor
Big thanks from all the new guys to wet shaving your videos have helped a lot
Happy to help!
The TRC aluminum razor looks fantastic. I would love to give it a try. Everyone on UA-cam says great things about it. Thank you for your time and experience, it's priceless.
Cheers to nothing but great shaves!
Thanks Vito. Great razor
Your videos converted me this year! I'm a Leaf Twig man, but will be in the market for the Leaf razor as the head is losing it's battle with father time!
Thanks for your support
Why did I wait so long? Easy to answer. I bought the multi-blade hype from the very beginning. I started shaving about the time multi-blade stuff came out. I just didn't know any better. I started DE shaving last winter, at 67 years old, and will never look back. Better late than never, I guess.
And the soaps are so vastly superior too. I still keep an aerosol foam can in my vacation gear. It's like smearing my face with clay or peanut butter after using quality shaving soap.
So true. Great read.
Just started my journey. Thanks for all the great content and the giveaways!
Welcome! You're in the right place if you are beginning
My initial setup:
- $19.99 for a Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars endorsed piece of metal at Bed Bath and Beyond
- This came with five blades
- $15’ish for a Wilkerson shave mug with puck
- $4.99 for a “shed-o-matic” brush the grocery store had
*So, for around $50.00 USD I was forever changed.*
I knew I needed better, so after researching blades, I bought a 100 count sleeve of Feather (yellow) blades.
Very nice story. Great read.

Thanks
Great video. I use Nivea balm. Its great but I am wanting unscented balm. Recommendations?
Rockwell is silky smooth
The only thing you need is shaving soap/cream but preshave and the alum block are a big help with the more agressive safety razors.
👍
Sorry I forgot the shaving brush this is a very important part of a good shaving ruteen.
Very good post/video...very informative 😀 Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Nice. Great to hear
While it’s great using a brush and soap, some nights, I just use Barbasol, out of laziness, and it works out pretty well. If you don’t want to invest in all of it at once, Barbasol will work out just fine.
👍
Hey, could you try the Lord New Platinum razor blades?
Sure can
I didn't learn how to use a safety razor. In fact, i started
shaving with one 52 years
ago, back in 1972, and i
mostly do. Sometimes i
use a mach 3 when in a
hurry but that's it. I just
watched my dad shaving
and started. Of course i
got some cuts in the first
30 days but after it i no
longer got cuts unless i
distract myself. I mean i
think it is pretty easy to
use one.
Love it. Thanks for posting
Excellent video brother!!!
Thank you much
@@OhioShaves Personally, Even with a de razor, I can't chase the "bbs"! Even with a cart or disposable.. And believe it or not I've actually gotten my best shaves (including BBS) with an electric shaver and edge gel sensitive skin!! This combination just works great for me!!!
I think it's awesome that you are a Browns fan. Go Browns!
Love the Browns 👍
The laugh at 13:55 says it all. 😂😂😂
😁
I bought that Thayers bottle along with 3 other items but amazon has yet to deliver them due to the winter weather we just had. It's actually cheaper at my local walmart so I'll probably cancel it and get two of the 4 at walmart.
Hell yeah
Hello, David how are you, wish you and your family all the best, David I have one DORCO PL602 a Korean DE razor two piece made up of plastic but just an incredible safety razor if you happen to get it then I must say that you will definitely like it too🙏🙏🙏
I will look into it. Thanks for the tip.
Do you like the Henson Aggressive? I don't see you using it consistently.
I didn't care for it. Love the mild in the medium but the plus plus plus you might as well buy a different razor. It doesn't shave well.
Very true
Great video as always! 👍
Thanks
The Rockwell it is. I already had it queued up with your code. Guess I better make the most of the 60 day period.
@christopheratkinson635 you’re going to love it.
💈👍
Great video, thanks 🙏

Thanks for your support
The one thing I wish I knew when I made the switch was the differences between mild and aggressive razors. But I am so glad I made the switch
What is the difference to you now?
@OhioShaves I went with the Henson mild which is a fantastic razor. I just wish it was a little more aggressive. I have really coarse hair, and I have to shave everyday and by the mid afternoon I have a good bit of growth back already. Do you have any tips for that? Maybe it's not the aggression.
Just the thickness of your hair as long as your shaving for BBS. 3 pass shave. For Me, Ingrown hairs may appear if I cut the hair below the skin line
@OhioShaves after 3 passes and touch ups around my Adam's apple it will be BBS. I did pick a sample pack of blades, I can say with the henson I have no irritation after the shave it's a wonderful shave
What’s your favorite blade
Have enjoyed your channel for some time now. You were / are a positive influence that got me into wet shaving. No more shave cream cans for me. Used to watch my father wet shave. @ohioshaves giveaway The thing I wish I’d known was that different blades are so very different
💯
Great Read. Thanks for sharing and your support
It’s great in the winter for me as well

Thanks for another great giveaway opportunity. The main thing that i wish I knew before i switched is to switch earlier😂. And you're spot on about how mindboggling it is the way the razor goes through the hair like warm butter. That feeling never gets old.

#ohioshaves giveaway I’m glad I made the switch to safety razor shaving. I even look forward to shaving on the weekends since I can put in more time on my shaves. Have a great holiday!
Right on my friend
#ohioshaves giveaway
Great video, and all valid points.
Nice read. Definitely therapeutic thanks for your support.

Find the blade that works with your skin, it's the most critical choice!

What a cool giveaway!!
Spot on with every point mentioned. I'm few months in and I couldn't relate more
💈👍
#ohiosaves giveaway
To your 5 points as I think we have a similar safety razor/wet shave journey (though you are much further along than me).
I do north to south and then eye to nose above the jaw line and about 7 to 2 below the jaw line
5: Rabbit Hole: This has been the most 'da what' since I started this journey.
Great read. Thanks for you input 💈👍

Yeah man, we've all been down the rabbit hole , and we like it 😁
As for reasons why so many guys wait so long before making a switch to safety razors , i would say time spent cuz everyone wants 2min shaves nowadays , even if that means razor burn and bumps , and also agressive marketing from Gillette and other cartridge giants , i think i never saw commercial on tv about safety razors.

It’s real that’s for sure. I give a ton of shaving products away so I hope I can help when it comes to this. What are you currently shaving with?
#ohioshaves giveaway Great and helpful video! Shaving this way serves as both a fun hobby and very great way to get the best shave ever!

Thank you for all these videos. Maybe someone new to this way of shaving learn some things.
Thank you
Forgot to ask, who won the Leaf razor?
Still ongoing
#ohioshaves giveaway: I started this journey about 6, 7 months ago and I must say I'm much happier. I look forward to shaving even though it takes me longer. When recently buying a good shaving soap it's astonishing how much of difference just that single purchase made. I can use my Henson ++ and 2c with no problem now and it is just a great experience all over. I bought a lot of things in bulk like my razor blades and a big block of soap. I do want to buy other razors but I'll do that when I'm out of college.
I wish I would've made the switch in college. I would've saved a ton of money by now. Great choice and razors
@@OhioShaves yes all thanks to you. It's nice to find content that you can relate to because we have more or less of the same problems when it comes to skin sensitivity. That's why I chose those 2 to start with. Beginner friendly and not too aggressive. Thanks for all the tips. Can't wait to see what you have coming in the future.
Thank you much
Why switch in my case?
I never had ingrown hair or irritation 🤷🏻♂️ and I simply don't buy the claim that cutting the hair slightly UNDER the skin level will deliver a LESS smooth shave than the DE cut AT skin level.
If cost is the only advantage left for me, then why switch? A hundred dollars more a year are worth the greater convenience, for me.
It would be different if the DE shave were ACTUALLY smoother than the cartridge, but I simply don't buy that, sorry 🤷🏻♂️
All good

Great tips, help I’m in the rabbit hole!
🤣
#ohioshaves giveaway
While the variety of razors/brushes/soaps available plays a huge part in the enjoyment of wet shaving, new shavers always need to have a budget in mind and not exceed what they can easily afford. It’s easy to fall down the ‘rabbit hole’ but you need to be careful…
Great video and thanks for the giveaway.
