It's nice to have more flexibility when building my decks. Instead of using a slot for smothering tithe I can use it for some cool card that while it's not as good, it's different and fun to use
When I first started playing MtG (around 2020/THB era), I was indeed, very new to the game and tried several different avenues (very often noob choices). Now I’d say I’m more on an intermediate level, where I’m still learning lots of new things still about the game, but have a fair amount of knowledge about what to expect, how I like to play my main deck (and currently my only deck atm), as well as getting into a homebrew style deck. I’m sure there’s still some ways to make my deck more efficient, however it still does a decent job on what I want it to do (with tutors and back up combos just in case…since I’m often targeted for using a notorious commander card). I wouldn’t call my power level a cEDH deck…but it is pretty powerful for casual! I call it “Drain & Gain”, since I use Sheoldred, the Apocalypse as my commander, and my main strategy is to use combo pieces that complement her abilities. However if that strategy fails; I have 6-7 tutor effects to either do a “Marit Lage” combo or the notorious “Blood Bond” combo. It still has some vampires in there though; so I think that’s where the deck is a bit offhand (since I started building it as a vampire deck), but it’s still a fun one that has a decent chance of a win, while more often than not, painting a target on me whenever I play.
Ahhhh a combo player, I like! It's definitely tough being the number 1 target every time, sometimes blinding so when you haven't done anything 😂 But that just means they respect you and your deck building skills that much! Sounds like you got something nasty I'd love to see on the other side of the table sometime haha
Hmm, I'll look into it I'm not seeing too much of an issue but you're clearly being helpful so I should take it seriously and make sure everything is synched correctly! When I do another video and if you happen to see it, please let me know!
i love this channel so far , i just kinda got into magic a few months ago and i was wondering when will you be reviewing decks ? i’m excited to show mine
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! To be honest I wasn't expecting this video to get more then maybe 50 views haha But I would love to review decks! and if willing maybe even offer upgrade ideas or help with issues the deck is having, like "My X Commander is running too slow, I feel like I don't have enough time to do "my thing" and always end up not doing anything" But if you're interested please let me know, I'd love to check it out and make some content out of it
@ i’m so excited to see the review and watch this channel grow thank you and if you want i have a team that help and builds on discord servers if your interested
Due to playing lots online, I'm really tired of people complaining about others' decks, and they can't even tell what PL theirs is. I generally prefer playing as competitive and powerful as possible, with an exception of no mana positive artifacts that stick around(No sol ring, moxes, mana confluence. Lotus petal is fine. The only exception I can make is mox amber). Also, about your points with cedh, which I play a lot as well. There's definitely a lot to speed, but also there is sooo much interaction. Not just blue. So much removal.
I'll be honest, I didn't expect this video to go past like 50 views at best 😬 But I really like the idea of reviewing peoples deck list giving an opinion on how to fix them. Be like "My *insert commander deck* is having issues with my playgroup, its always feels too slow and I'm not sure how I can make it perform better while keeping its identity" etc etc I look at the deck list sent over, give my opinion and boom #content You wanna be first victim? lmao
Great video! I do recommend adding time stamps for each level and maybe keeping a BGM or a smoother transition from music to no music. Otherwise everything else felt professional for a small youtuber. Hope this feedback helps out. Great job, keep it up! :)
Nothing wrong with that at all! Those can be really fun and too be honest its nice playing against a blue deck not running a Rustic Study, or a white deck without smothering tithe.
I used to play CEDH-level with my LGS pod but when I found my new playgroup/friends, I learned to enjoy building and playing lower power level (7-8) decks. Now, I'm challenging myself by creating mono-colored decks with very unusual commanders and try my best to abuse their abilities. I'm on my second mono-colored deck which is a green deck with Varis, Silverymoon Ranger. Maybe you can share your thoughts on how you would tackle this challenge if you were to do it? Haha Thanks!
That seems to be the commander player's maturity growth haha, maxing out at cedh for a bit only to settle down on 7-8's I think it's awesome you're doing mono colored decks, it's actually one of my favorite ways to play and you're even taking a step further with unique abilities you don't normally see, I'm impressed. I think that would be an excellent video idea, I'll have to give credits to you haha
hey! something i that i recently talked to my play group about it is the idea that maybe some commanders power level is limited at 7-8 just because of the amount of setup required to get your commander to "do the thing". For example, i have a Yennett, cryptic sovereign deck. the players in my group essentially agreed that; despite my deck running more than 5 tutors and extremely powerful cards like rhystic study, smothering tithe, and expropriate; the deck is limited to a seven due to the fact that there is too much setup involved to "do the thing". Then i asked "well if i add all the fast mana and combos like DemonicOracle or any other Esper combos would that make it go up?" they said yes but it will still only be an 8. My question for you Ninja, is do you agree that some commander decks power levels are capped by their abilities? Or can adding all the "meta cards" and "fast mana" make really any deck be a 9+.
That is an excellent question Griff! Commanders do help a lot in achieving a game ending result, more or less being the core focus of your deck's plan. They are essential in power level 10 decks as that is essentially the best of the best in every regard. However, a deck running the worst commander can reach power level 9 **if using the correct colors**. The worst mono white commander with the best cards will inherently run worse than the worst mono blue commander with its best cards. So overall, yes I agree some commanders are restricted in terms of how high it's level can be, but more so because of its available card pool then the characteristics of the commander itself!
I use to build decks at 8, but honestly building them at 7 is more fun.

Great video, but I noticed that the audio wasn't synced exactly to the video. Something to consider for the future?

I’m a filthy casual, all my decks are pwr lv6

I built my first Commander Deck with Loot. And i won 1 of 3 against a Blue/Black reanimated deck. Alot of fun and alot of learning also. #pooptonoob
