Nice video, InkedNinja you should play an Assassins Creed/Ninja deck, it would suit you.
My favorite color combos are: Green White Green Blue Green White Blue Green Red Green White Red Green Blue Red I think you can see where my preferences lie!
A mistake you made is that white has a lot of protection spells as well as small creature spells. Green is also the color of counters, lots of counters. It's about not just big creatures but pumping tiny creatures to be much bigger.
A very good video <3
@@boki11221 really well made!
reds only weakness is that its too bad ass 😎
True!
@@InkedNinjaa who need land ramp? Am I right? 😎
@@Esticsmtgsidequest Red needs to be supported by another color to really pop off. It struggles on it's own.
@@OpenWorldAddict0 must not have played a krenko
Jesus the audio and video is so out of sync... This a AI generated video?
For Central Elevator/Promising Stairs, 1) You surveil on upkeep, which is great for Animatou's ability, especially in a lower power deck with limited shuffle effects. The win condition is just a bonus. 2) They have 5 room cards, which is 10 unique rooms.
Brutal honest review and very good advice. If a play direction is chosen, this deck can be very strong.
If someone sat down at my table and pulled this deck out, I could very easily give them 15 cards that would instantly make the deck better. Probably would still be a 6 as well lol. Not hating on it by any means, but I have a bunch of Starfields of nyx and other good cards in multiple that I don't use and am happy to donate to someone so we can have a better game.
You were being very nice. Eerie interference doesn't prevent damage done by creatures your opponents control to Planeswalkers you control.
Wish I could get in on games like this. I need to get my setup going so maybe I can join you at some point. Did you see my Galea Kindler of Hope deck? It has never been in a full game before. Just a bit of 1v1 and goldfishing, so it would be an interesting first time for it lol.
I love to be the archenemy of the table. I like to hit the gas hard and make the table have the answers. I like to create a seemingly unstoppable force, then promptly get stopped.
You seem like a good loser haha But absolutely! Playing the villain is fun and watching everyone work together in unity is wholesome to watch, I always congratulate them for succeeding past the numerous counter and protection spells
@@InkedNinjaa my motto is that I play magic to win, and I play commander to lose. I'm very honest about the power level of my decks, I have a lot of very valuable and powerful cards that I've gotten for a fraction of their cost. I can't help but put a deck together and casually it's worth $700+ and I don't really want to pull my punches in the deck building aspect of it. That being said, if that scares the table into labeling me the problem all the time, I'll own it and go out in a poof of glory. I don't play commander to win though, I build the deck to win and I have fun within my 25% of the game.
"Big sigma alpha male stuff which is playing cardboards" implying that women can't play magic? Misogynist..
I'm pretty sure you're joking, right?
Sheoldred will be more than ready next time! I now understand fully that these go on in CT (not EST) on Thursday nights. Mental note planted that you’re an hour behind my time zone and if luck is in your favor again, I’ll be a turn behind you…

Thank you for this rundown. It got me thinking about my deck-building differently. Wish that either Combo wasn’t so insanely prevalent at the EDH table at the LGS. It’s frustrating that there very often isn’t someone playing Blue, so the only way to deal with the Combo player (Focus them down from the start) invariably triggers the Combo pilot. I learned a lot from your descriptions of midrange and tempo. Thanks for that!
Of course! I glad to hear I helped someone out haha Idk if you saw, but we'd love for you to join our discord and chat with everyone about magic :) We just did a spelltable game with the community, so who knows maybe you might make some new friends! discord.gg/4UATFba8Fe
Is audio desynced?
Only thing i disagree with was the comment on haveing to tell the table hey I have curiosity in my niv mizzet deck. All that does is put a target on that players back for no reason. If your playing a lower power deck like in your example and that card is a finisher in the deck I see no reason u should have to reveal it. Even in the extreme case of that deck built solely around getting to that combo finish at most in that scenario all u should have to say is the decks a dedicated combo deck.
As an orzhov player, I feel insulted you called the nasty GAA4 to be orzhov

Wait no, I know you did lmao I'm on auto response 🤣
@@InkedNinjaa you're fine, I totally get the grind and trying to get people involved.
This is not a crack at this video specifically or even the UA-camr who posted it. This kind of thing this video is about is at the very core of what is wrong with Magic the Gathering and Commander especially. The mindset that you "should" be playing specific cards is perpetuating the systematic degradation of the format itself. Players want to win, and that's fine, some also want to have fun, and that's fine too. Everyone's version of what is fun and competitive vary depending on the player. Where the problem comes in is this obsessive need to play certain cards in order to obtain your goals, which for many players is winning at whatever that cost may be. Competition is healthy, but also creates a dangerous precedent of spiraling escalation. This is evident in the seemingly never ending power creep of the card designs themselves, manufacturing this demand and need that is, honestly at the end of the day, truly not necessary to actually play the game. Once you figure out why it is these cards are staples and thought of as auto additions to decks, the true mindset of the Magic player turns from creative problem solving and imaginative deck building into fairly stale cookie cutter decks that all kind of do the same thing depending on the colors used. Yes, I understand it's about efficiency and optimization, but having played since Beta, for me, that has become boring and holds no interest to me because it's like I am following instructions for a Lego set and not really coming up with different ways to put together things to create something new or at least unique to an extent that I built it, not some sort of preordained build using the best possible pieces I can muster. Of course this is all just my opinion, and I realize not everyone shares it and I don't expect anyone to agree nor is it my intent on hurting anyone's feelings. I simply am not overly fond of the idea that others "should" be doing xyz by using click bait titles to draw people in with that, and layout an actual critical analysis of cards the UA-camr feels are cards they deem as useful and that they feel certain ways about them. You should be playing x, y, z cards...no..you should be asking yourself why is that important to you as a watcher of videos. That will give you a much more enlightening insight into the type of player you possibly want to be.
What's the point of homogonizing your decks by simply stuffing it with staples. Also if you're playing something like azorius birds tribal for example and you drop a tithe - you will become the archenemy and most of the time your deck can't handle that amount of heat
I agree with this - not limiting yourself to "staples" gives you way more space to make your deck what you want it to be. If you include all the "staples" for each color you can run and enough lands to fuel your deck, you're left with about a third of the space for what you really want to do with the deck. That just homogenizes anything you're trying to do to a few spells that are fun and the soup around it. I'm using staples in quotation marks because the correct way, in my opinion, to think about staples is either "Hey, I have a free slot, what can help me with what I want to do?" or "Hey, I need this specific piece of interaction, what is the best card that does that?" instead of "Hey, this card is strong in [my color] so I need to run it." Edit: Thought I'd elaborate with an example. If I'm running a Golgari deck that's focused on +1/+1 counters and I'm like "I need something to answer a lot of small creatures", then Toxic Deluge is your best pick. But if you're running Rakdos and you already have ten other spells that deal AOE damage to creatures, Toxic Deluge is not a necessary include for your deck just because it's a strong black card.
A lot of these are far from staples or auto includes just because you're in the colors.
Everyone has a right to an opinion and magic is a diverse game with many options to choose from, especially in a non-rotating format such as commander. I don't expect everyone to agree, but rather than just simply saying "no its not" I would like to hear your opinion of why you think teferis pro, smothering tithe, vampiric tutor, deflecting swat, fierce guardianship, the one ring, etc are not core stables My basis for this list are cards that can be used regardless of strategy and are commonly seen in higher level decks
Definitely some good picks on that list! 6 that I’d recommend that I didn’t hear you say in the video are: Red: Ancient Copper Dragon (very expensive, but very good for a mana ramp). Blue: Counterspell (another great mechanic that shows off what blue does best). Green: Kura, the Boundless Sky (great for fetching Urza lands, making a strong token, and having a great blocker for opposing flyers). White: Angelic Overseer (as long as you’re running humans, this is a hard card to get rid of). Black: Underworld Dreams (which makes friends with the pod…especially blue players 😂) Colorless: Giggling Skitterspike (one of my favorite offense/defense pieces when forming the notorious “Blood/Bond” combo).

Due to playing lots online, I'm really tired of people complaining about others' decks, and they can't even tell what PL theirs is. I generally prefer playing as competitive and powerful as possible, with an exception of no mana positive artifacts that stick around(No sol ring, moxes, mana confluence. Lotus petal is fine. The only exception I can make is mox amber). Also, about your points with cedh, which I play a lot as well. There's definitely a lot to speed, but also there is sooo much interaction. Not just blue. hey! something i that i recently talked to my play group about it is the idea that maybe some commanders power level is limited at 7-8 just because of the amount of setup required to get your commander to "do the thing". For example, i have a Yennett, cryptic sovereign deck. the players in my group essentially agreed that; despite my deck running more than 5 tutors and extremely powerful cards like rhystic study, smothering tithe, and expropriate; the deck is limited to a seven due to the fact that there is too much setup involved to "do the thing". Then i asked "well if i add all the fast mana and combos like DemonicOracle or any other Esper combos would that make it go up?" they said yes but it will still only be an 8. My question for you Ninja, is do you agree that some commander decks power levels are capped by their abilities? Or can adding all the "meta cards" and "fast mana" make really any deck be a 9+.
That is an excellent question Griff! Commanders do help a lot in achieving a game ending result, more or less being the core focus of your deck's plan. They are essential in power level 10 decks as that is essentially the best of the best in every regard. However, a deck running the worst commander can reach power level 9 **if using the correct colors**. The worst mono white commander with the best cards will inherently run worse than the worst mono blue commander with its best cards. So overall, yes I agree some commanders are restricted in terms of how high it's level can be, but more so because of its available card pool then the characteristics of the commander itself!

When I first started playing MtG (around 2020/THB era), I was indeed, very new to the game and tried several different avenues (very often noob choices). Now I’d say I’m more on an intermediate level, where I’m still learning lots of new things still about the game, but have a fair amount of knowledge about what to expect, how I like to play my main deck (and currently my only deck atm), as well as getting into a homebrew style deck. I’m sure there’s still some ways to make my deck more efficient, however it still does a decent job on what I want it to do (with tutors and back up combos just in case…since I’m often targeted for using a notorious commander card). I wouldn’t call my power level a cEDH deck…but it is pretty powerful for casual! I call it “Drain & Gain”, since I use Sheoldred, the Apocalypse as my commander, and my main strategy is to use combo pieces that complement her abilities. However if that strategy fails; I have 6-7 tutor effects to either do a “Marit Lage” combo or the notorious “Blood Bond” combo. It still has some vampires in there though; so I think that’s where the deck is a bit offhand (since I started building it as a vampire deck), but it’s still a fun one that has a decent chance of a win, while more often than not, painting a target on me whenever I play.
Ahhhh a combo player, I like! It's definitely tough being the number 1 target every time, sometimes blinding so when you haven't done anything 😂 But that just means they respect you and your deck building skills that much! Sounds like you got something nasty I'd love to see on the other side of the table sometime haha

I used to play CEDH-level with my LGS pod but when I found my new playgroup/friends, I learned to enjoy building and playing lower power level (7-8) decks. Now, I'm challenging myself by creating mono-colored decks with very unusual commanders and try my best to abuse their abilities. I'm on my second mono-colored deck which is a green deck with Varis, Silverymoon Ranger. Maybe you can share your thoughts on how you would tackle this challenge if you were to do it? Haha Thanks!
That seems to be the commander player's maturity growth haha, maxing out at cedh for a bit only to settle down on 7-8's I think it's awesome you're doing mono colored decks, it's actually one of my favorite ways to play and you're even taking a step further with unique abilities you don't normally see, I'm impressed. I think that would be an excellent video idea, I'll have to give credits to you haha

I use to build decks at 8, but honestly building them at 7 is more fun.
It's nice to have more flexibility when building my decks. Instead of using a slot for smothering tithe I can use it for some cool card that while it's not as good, it's different and fun to use
