Not at all surprised to see Rachel with the super interesting wacky synergy that I've never see anyone try before! Very cool deck from an awesome brewer.
The text shows up more often than expected, cards like Aerial Extortionist have it like an afterthought when it’s often the better line of text. Pilferer has the big upside of coming down the earliest of these.
That's just the floor. There are lots of cards that get cast from zones other than the hand. Foretell, suspend, cascade, playing spells from top deck, jump-start, lots of red card advantage exiles cards to let you cast them, etc.
It was impecably well timed, everyone was tapped out, no responses, and on top of it being a great play she also stole it from someone else! It goes into the Ashleen hall of fame, next to the time she played Kozilek and won countering spells with it like a genius.
A few general notes: At 41:15, Jimmy would actually get two Merchant triggers here, not one. With the Artisan, we make the new token first, then we get rid of the old token. Naban is still under Jimmy's control when the Merchant enters, so the Merchant's ability trigger twice (and then Jimmy loses the token Naban, but those two triggers still go on the stack). At 43:22, Jimmy's Artisan would trigger here and he would get a token Chasm Skulker as well. Due to how the game turned out, this ended up not being relevant, but it was something that was missed.
@@jakman999 Ward is still relevant there because all of those spells are being cast with Lier on the stack (so spells can still be countered). That stack begins at 52:17 with Rachel saying she's casting her spell with Lier still on the stack.
I was surprised to see Rachel in the mono-blue game playing something other than her Octavia deck, but credit to her for not coasting and brewing a new design for this episode. As a big Octavia stan myself though I'm bummed it did not get some burn in this episode.
I loved the video edits and theme of the retro nostalgic vibe, but I also know how much of a pain it had to be to do this. Mad respect. Really good episode! It was really easy to follow and keep up with card effects and actions.
This was actually one of the craziest and coolest games of magic I’ve ever watched. No infinite combos or any crap like that, just super cool plays and people’s decks doing their cool things
As far as the end of the episode talking about gift giving. I like to gift my friends land staples for holidays. Something they will always use when building a deck that you might not be excited to buy yourself. Fetches, coffers, yavimaya, urborg, nykthos
Naban would actually see the merchant of secrets as there was a point in time where they were both on the field. Faerie artisans says create a token. Then exile all other tokens. If it were worded "create token copy and exile other tokens that Faerie artisans made" then you'd be correct
it would even see it in the example you gave as spells and abilities are resolved in order of what's written on the card. "Create a token and exile all other tokens" is functionally the same as "Create a token, then exile all other tokens" . It would need to be worded "exile all tokens made with Faerie Artisans, then create a token copy of the that creature" for it not see it.
Yep. When resolving spells and abilities you follow the instructions on the card in the order its printed. The token enters before he sacs the other token, so it will trigger that creature he will sacrifice.
One could say this is a Mono-blue man group Also I meet a guy that also has a Hakim commander deck. Terrifying and he usually wins since it have EVERY type of protection on it, but still fun to see
Super dope game, everyone's decks were awesome but Rachel's unique deck really shows how strong and great of a player she is. You'd really need to be a master of the game to pilot that properly! 🎉
People don’t realize how versatile mono blue is. People think it’s all counter spells but I have a set up where I have 15 mono blue decks and they all do completely different things.
@ the way I do it is have a 65 card shell with lands and good staples. And then I have the commanders with their own 34 card decks that I just shuffle in when I want to change the deck.
please do more of this! i love this idea. and not just mono colors, all color combos. do an all simic battle, gruul, temur, mardu, whatever. its fun to see how people take a specific color identity in different directions.
I have only been watching for a short time, but that seemed like the most fun game. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did. Thanks for the great videos
I highly recommend Naban to anyone thinking of trying him. He was a commander of mine for a good while, turns out Wizard beats is not a difficult hoop to jump through. Tons of fun to play, low to the ground, and is pretty versatile with how it can win games (lab man, combos, or as we just saw with Daddys deck just have the wizards hit the gym!).
Can't wait to see the monored rumble. I'm at my 6th monored deck so I'm really curious as to what everyone will be playing! (Monored decks I have: Human shenanigans, Self-discard, ETB-copies, energy, Aggro-drawback, Rosnakht aura-voltron)
I wasn't going to miss another kickstarter and I still haven't gotten myself the christmas gift I always do for myself. Had to get something from Command Zone
As a fellow blue player this was like an injection of dopamine straight into my brain. Amazing. I’m currently scorned any time I play mono blue as my friends try to warn players new to playing me to watch me, they do not. Oh how fun it is to play mono blue.
Lier makes spells encounterable. Ward counters unless you pay... which is invalidated by Lier. Therefore, people no longer have to pay for ward while lier was on the battlefield
I'd love to see a similar game with other mono colors in the future. Red, white, black, and green should all get their due!)
Yeah!!!!!!!
Since Josh wasn’t in this one, will the red one lack Jimmy?
White would have to lack Rachel
Mono black is going to be such a miserable game
Mono black should be either missing lady or craig
Josh at the door be like: "LET ME IN! LE ME IIIIIN!"
the episode for red is gonna happen with josh instead of jimmy for the purposes of revenge
bringing Lier to an all blue pod is hilarious
It's kinda genius honestly
I’m just going to set this dub down right here for you.
Lier is my mono-blue commander deck and i am shocked ashlen didn't win
edit: ohhhh... she built it voltron.... yeah that's not how to do lier.
There is almost no point in running it as a voltron commander, sorry to say that but she built a terrible deck
@@paolo97ism maybe, but its funny
I love how even though it's mono blue, Jimmy's still playing a red strategy with goad lol
Mono Blue episode without Josh feels pretty sacrilegious ngl 😂
Yeah that’s crazy lol
Now they've got to do a monored episode without Jimmy...
And without CGB.
@@KerrxLaeda Where everyone is mana screwed.
Now we need mono red without Jimmy and mono Green without Greg.
>Plays Mono Blue Pod

LMFAOOOOOOOOOO THATS DIABOLICAL
I think playing Narset, Parter of Veils would of been worse xD
@@RM_3D Can't play Parter of Veils as your commander though.
Everyone is playing blue what did they expect?!
Rachel's deck was amazing. Really fun to see. I love seeing some of the weirder things Blue can do!
Not at all surprised to see Rachel with the super interesting wacky synergy that I've never see anyone try before! Very cool deck from an awesome brewer.
TIL that Ghostly Pilferer will just draw you a card for each opponent playing their commander if you manage to play it early.
It's so good!

Rachel nonchalantly saying "I've declared war against the daddies" is WILD haha
Yeah was a great gag from Rachel. She is so fun to play with. And a really amenable person at the pod. Was an absolute pleasure playing with her.
Fun drinking game: Take a shot everytime they say "draw a card"
Be dead half way through the video
@@SlongestKongest You must have some beastly alcohol tolerance

I'll do that when they do mono-white maybe...
God I look forward to mono-coloured videos - I am working on building mono-coloured decks atm so this is perfect!

"I guess you could say I blue myself!"

Like the idea. Looking forward to mono white, 3h video caus of all the stax and board wipes xD
Eh, if it was like that, this one should've been 3 hours long due to all the counterspells!
this was probably the best commander game I've seen on youtube, great gameplay with these complicated stacks
Meanwhile Josh sadly scratching at the back door like a dog locked out of a house party
Josh not being in an all mono-blue pod is just straight up rude. He got counterspelled😂
Badass game. I hope we get this type of theme for "all" the colors. Including 2, 3, 4, and 5
