Gamepass wouldve been great except they tried to take the unsubscribe button off. I'm on laptop but it happened on Xbox consoles as well. I will never trust Microsoft again. It's anti consumer.
@@davidhujik3422 Sony is more anti-consumer, their line of TV's lovingly hold a reputation for holding a "Sony Tax" they are the first electronics company to accelerate their asking price. The last time they did anything pro-consumer was PS1 and that was just to get their foot in the door of the game space.

I have game pass on PC the variety is a little under whelming BUT for the amount you get it's still a good deal. I just got bored of its contents recently and it's so slow to add many worthwhile games the past few months.
I own the series s and one thing that I see people never talk about is the quick resume feature that xbox has. The fact that I can pick up where I left off without needing to save is pretty nice (especially if ai have an unfortunate problem occur such as my wifi or power going out). It's honestly one of the best features on xbox in my opinion.

From someone who loves his 2013 Xbox One, the Series X is EXACTLY what I wanted for this gen. Same controller with better changes? Yes please. Beautiful console design? Fantastic. Amazing graphics, performance and quick resume? Nice! Same great UI? Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Backwards compatability and smart delivery? Take my money, Xbox!
I guess controllers, design, UI are rather subjective. Everyone has their own taste. But for me it comes down to games. I play all types of adventures, sandboxes and RPGs. Nothing more. And in that aspect xbox has nothing to offer. Of course, there are multiplatform games, but there is nothing to competr with Uncharted, Tsushima, inFamous, God of War etc. Sadly, at this moment Microsoft does not offer anything like that. But I truly hope it will change with incoming Starfield and maybe some more that type of games so we have better competition between both.
@@damiankarol5675 Even though I lean more towards Xbox, I can admit that PS has a better line-up of exclusives, the Spider Man games being the stars for me. Though I must disagree with the point about Xbox being short of games; there are so many amazing games on the system, including 360 and OG Xbox games. Game Pass is the MVP of Xbox at the moment, it's amazing. Plus, the Series X has smart delivery, which gives you the upgraded version of your already owned games for free.

But for people like me who adore all the, so called, third person shooter, there is literally nothing. Which is sad, becasue more games like that for xbox would make a better competiting and better games in general.
I bought the series X as my first console, switched to a console after 2 decades of pc gaming. Wanted to keep things simple for my gaming as PC always needs some upkeep. The higher Graphics power in XSX and GamePass were my reasons to choose XSX.
Yeah I also feel the same way. The simplicity of consoles is great. PC gaming is also very expensive. I don't want to pay thousands of dollars for a good build.

One cannot deny the fact that you get better performance and quality on PC, but the fact of the matter is that you need to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on hardware to be able to achieve that performance. Yes consoles are not as powerful as high end PCs, but not everyone is able to drop $2000 on a GPU alone.
I bought a Series S. I know it's technically not as good. I'm not sure anything can beat it value wise. The console is relatively cheap, and gamepass makes it an amazing experience
Samee, I’m coming from 1080hd ultra 60-120fpc Pc any and everything. And I gotta say, I’m playing my series s all day and haven’t touched the Pc. Not gonna lie though it’s about 90% from game pass, and quick resume. Even though quick resume isn’t perfect it’s still amazing
What happens if you have a internet outage though can you still play all those games I've went through that i know if you have the disc you can still play
Bobby Strunk you can still play your digital games offline on the series S. You must start each game once you've downloaded (then simply exit the game) it to be able to play offline. If you only download the game and not started it then when offline your console will ask you to connect to verify ownership. I've tested this myself. MS may change this down the road but that's my experience as of 10/2021
I too own a PS5 and Series X. Had always been a PlayStation guy, dating back as far as the PS1 days. Game Pass however is incredible. I've probably been playing the X more than the PS5 lately, something I never imagined I would do.
I have both, but play the PS5 more. I do like game pass, but most of my friends are on PS. I also prefer the PS controllers and Xbox still has the worst menus I have ever seen.
The other thing is you buy Xbox game keys online from other sellers at a lot cheaper Price than Disc like you can for PC whereas Sony ps5 you do not have that option at places like CD keys etc just ps top up card only at fill price
Honestly, I like both PS5 and Xbox series x. One always has features and games that the other doesn't. It's about what I'm in the mood to experience more than anything.
I also own both and the Series X has become my daily driver for all things entertainment. The PS has some incredible games - but the Gamepass subscription is a game changer - its like having Netflix but for gaming. Being able to get new games on day one is awesome.
I have both consoles too, PS5 for exclusives and ps+ games but xbox its my main console for daily use because it fits me better and works better than PS5 in my case. Also backwards compatibility and 1440p supports wins.
I also have the two consoles and I definitely think it comes down to people preferences and what they enjoy the most. But both consoles are pretty good for what they do, and by the way this video is amazing.

I’ve been waiting for better Game Compression for the Xbox Series S/X as well. The PS5 Kraken Compression is phenomenal and can’t wait to see something similar on Xbox side.
I have the series X, and the wireless headset. There aren't any connection or sound issues for me whatsoever, as well as flawless connection to my phone at the same time. I think which ever system you enjoy the most, or owning both if possible is the way to go.

@@MrTekSuggest I don't have any connection or sound issues with my Series X headset either. Sounds good to me. I have to say Dolby Vision on my C1 with Series X makes a difference. You can actually see more highlight details on the supported games.
@@MrTekSuggest I'll be interested by what you find. I get the sense its a wireless conflict somewhere - I have heard that plugging in the controller stops the issue, but is not ideal of course.

Game pass is a game changer, I tried games that would Never buy and actually enjoy them. 2 absolutely simple things though that could be an improvement: - Record party audio when you record play - Better battery indicator for the controller

I own the Series X and absolutely love it, with that being said I'm waiting for a revised version of the PS5 to release so I can pick up the original version at a cheaper price. The exclusives are simply too good to not play on Playstation.
I've been going back and forth between consoles for like 25 years now. From N64 to PS2, Xbox360, Wii, PS4, Switch and now I got a Series X as the game pass and backwards compatibility were a huge draw for me. I also simply love the Xbox controller. At the end of the day it's a matter of preference but you sure are better off keeping an open mind and compare each generations' consoles. Deep down I am still somewhat of a Nintendo fanboy as the SNES was my first console, but over the past 15 or so years I definitely have played a lot more on PS and Xbox overall.
I had a PS4 last generation and decided I would move to Series X after seeing quick resume and game pass in action. I cannot justify spending 50-70 on games anymore. Gamepass is a game changer for me.

@@davemeredith6964 I bought Sega's Lost Judgment physical copy as my first X game. I know what you mean about owning, there is a bit of that in me too. But the really positive thing with gamepass is that you try games you were curious about but realistically would not have purchased.
I've had the ps5 since march 21 and it has drastically improved with updates. But I don't have a high end pc and just brought a series x as well. Tbh I have always preferred PlayStation but this year there is no clear winner both consoles excel and fall in different areas. For me I decided get both and be done with it. I'm very fortunate with the limited stock issues in the UK. This video has been the most non biased video on youtube. Its nice to not get a fan boy video bashing the other console and just giving an honest opinion on both consoles. For me PlayStation has great exclusives....... but Xbox will in the future have Bethesda games line up and I'm a massive elder scrolls/fallout fan plus future halo games. Plus a Xbox and ps5 cost less combined then a nvidia 3080 graphics card at the moment
I got really fortunate to land the ps5, series X and a 6900xt! Oculus Quest for travel. I agree it’s nice just appreciating both without feeling the need to side.
I've had a PS5 for just over a year now, but i've got alongside an Xbox One X which used to be my main console and i've been wondering if i should upgrade to a series X and be done with it. Game Pass is great, but im looking forward to see if Playstation really do bring out a like for like competitor for it. I'm looking forward to future Playstation exclusives, more than Xbox currently, but must admit, Flight Simulator, Halo have a draw on me too...so tough. I was so determined to be a one console user this time round and chose PS5 simply as it was in stock first....now im confused!
@@andygreen4760 I can speak from my experience. I have ps5 and series x. What the Xbox does better is, the controller lasts way longer without a charge or having to replace battery’s. The graphics are better, the 120 hz works way faster then the ps5 does. If you use headsets, the overall output on the Xbox will blow the ps5 away. If you play games like call of duty, the loudness is nite and day better on Xbox. I have both hooked to an lg oled tv, and side by side. The Xbox no doubt.
I like that it doesn't mute my external sound source. My son will come in while I'm gaming and want to watch. And he can still hear the game while I use the headset.
There’s an option for this in settings, people in party’s hated the echo but I’ve often got someone with me. I used to change the settings now I just hold volume a few seconds when alone and avoid party’s when not.

Returnal is natively rendered at only 1080p, then uses temporal upsampling to get to 1440p and then it uses checkerboard rendering to get to 4K - this comes at the cost of image quality. And it still runs only at 60fps with some dips to mid-to-low 50s. I think that this game does not belong to this list...

The extra storage on the Xbox is invaluable. I ran out of space on my PS5 way too fast. If I had those 175GB the Xbox has I wouldn't have had the problem.
@@Cpneger45 The PS5 being weaker has nothing to do with the file sizes being smaller that is the most ignorant common I've ever heard it's because the PS5 has a more optimized SSD setup that allows them to compress the files more efficiently It has nothing to do with power 98% of the game look identical on both systems
I like this extensive review. Both consoles are true next gen upgrades. I'll choose Xbox this time. GamePass, form factor and ease of use. Will get a slim down version of PS5 later down the line for the single player exclusives alone.
@@Adipod47 For me it was Final Fantasy. FF16 is going to be PS and PC only so that pretty much clinches it for me. I keep hearing good things about the XSX I like the features and design a bit better than the PS5, except for the controller which I think is better on the PS5.
You can actually now automatically mute the TV when you connect a headset on Xbox. Just go Settings -> General -> Volume & Audio output -> Additional options -> Mute speaker audio when headset attached
I’m a Mac user, so the Xbox makes a heck of a lot more sense than a PS5. Honestly? You skipped the whole issue with the PS4/PS5 upgrade path and how infuriating it is to even make sure you’re BUYING/PLAYING the PS5 version of a game. That comic book game that’s coming to Game Pass? The upgrade on PS5 was straight ridiculous.
I play my XBSX on the LG OLED C1 which is the best gaming TV out currently, the quality is absolutely stunning. Gaming at 60-120 fps in native 4k is smooth as butter.

Not gonna lie every and anyone using headsets even spendy ones just sound like they swallowed the mic and can't stop chewing it. Pretty sure any wired phone headset is good enough if everyone sounds like shit all the time .
I have both consoles. I play strictly Playstation exclusives and everything else on Xbox. The controller's haptic feedback is really good and I hope Microsoft one day will implement this nifty feature in their future controllers. The haptic feedback is much more detailed and accurate rumbling effects. The VRR of the Xbox series X is also very helpful for those with higher end TVs like the CX and C1.
I actually do not hope they add that or at least make it a separate controller as it makes it take way more power for stuff I don’t really need nor care about, I wish lights made it that much more cool but I just have an RGB controller that works amazing
@@cloudedxmarbles6284 One positive thing about the Xbox controllers is being able to remove the batteries and replace them easily. I've upgraded the batteries in my controllers with a bigger power bank and they last much longer. But yeah, PS5 controller runs out very quickly.
@@gringoamigo8146 that and yeah seems Moe wired ones available, I got a powera spectra, then the one that’s like the elite Xbox controller with 4 paddles on it, I know most people prefer wired, but I don’t sit ultra far in my room and I also use it with my computer so it benefits quite a bit, but yeah I wish you could swap out the ps5 batteries so it would mean less charging lol I mean I love playing the exclusives on it but I really do notice the battery life having both side by side
Kraken compression is something that doesn’t get talked about often. When the PS5 first got announced everyone was up in arms about how small the drive it but in reality is you can store as many games on it as you can a 1tb series X and also having the flexibility of choosing M2 drives on the open market instead of having a proprietary format (Sony leaned their lessons from the Vita’s proprietary memory cards
Love my Series X for its backwards compatibility. I can still play all my favorites from years ago all on 1 system. Plus GamePass has given the option to try so many games I wouldn't have bought, and I've found some that I really like! Unfortunately the backwards comp is not as good as I expected. Resident Evil 5 from the 360 doesn't run on the series x for example. From my old og xbox library there are only max payne 2, Black, Hunter Reckoning and The Punisher. Would have loved to play Otogi, The Suffering, Knights of the Temple, Unreal 2 and many more again but no.

That’s because unless you have very good internet on both ends, it’s almost unusable. And PS4 had it as well. When it works, it’s amazing. But it doesn’t work consistently all the time.
My PC and Oculus Quest 2 has both screen share to other PC's, a wireless monitor or even to my phone. Even my phone itself can project to a screen to a smart TV since 3-4 years now. This feature is really not new.

I own both and i genuinely feel like the Xbox series x is a stronger machine and is very close to a gaming PC the only thing it's missing is better games which playstation seems to have an abundance.

I’m a PlayStation guy, but Game Pass got me to buy a Series S, which is my first Xbox in 15 years. It pairs perfectly with my PS5. This is what I will say about these platforms in 2021. Xbox has the better ecosystem, but PlayStation has the better exclusives and controller. I recently attacked my backlog and played Last of Us Part 2, Astro’s Playroom, Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and God of War. Not only were they are incredible, but they were also some of the greatest games I’ve ever played, it’s actually insane. By the way, beautiful set up!
Saying the PS has the “better exclusives” is completely subjective and should be said like it’s a fact. Also, Xbox has had the better controller for the past 20 years, how convenient that you forget that. And even now, the Xbox controller has the most important thing, a dedicated latency chip. There’s also the Elite controller and the fact that Microsoft is also working on those Dualsense gimmicks as well..

I own both consoles but end up playing my Series X more because of the massive amount of games that are available on game pass. Other than Horizon, GoW, FF7 remake, I don't generally play my PS5. With that said however, I'm a PC gamer and collector of shinny expensive toys so I own a switch and most other notable consoles as well.

as someone who has both next gen consoles since launch, The ps5 has collected dust. Spiderman miles was the only game i cared about, and in 2 days of playing and finishing it, there was nothing else worth it on ps5. Out the 10 months since launch, the ps5 has been used for a month. Series x has just everything better along side gamepass. i also have a 3090 gaming pc. i still prefer to enjoy series x gaming over pc on some titles.

Give Returnal a shot. I don't like Rogue likes but I've put over 60 hours into the game. It's a sleeper hit in my view. I really like my Series X but I've been putting more hours into the PS5. Gamepass as a concept is great but I only have so much time to devote to games so I try to stick with AAA games, unfortunately there's basically no current gen AAA games on Gamepass. That will change but there's simply more higher quality games on the PS5 at the moment. With that said I'm looking forward to Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5.
Ok but your opinion doesn’t mean the PS5 doesn’t have games that are just as good that’s just your preference. Games like Returnal, Ratchet and Clank, and Ghosts of Tsushima directors cut are doing really well and has people playing for hours.

Pst is good for exclusives but that's it, not everyone likes those games
Someone might have already said it, but there’s an option in the Xbox settings to automatically mute the TV volume and push all sound to the headset. Great video btw, really enjoyed the comparison!
That white Series X skin looks pretty sweet. Nice video by the way, it's the first of your videos I've seen before. Personally, I'm a Series X gamer, but I don't have any commitment to either brand. I've bought every console from Sony and MS since PS1, I just don't feel a personal need for a PS5 yet this gen. Both consoles are great in their own right.
I'm not interested in buying PS5 until PSVR 2 comes along. The Quest 2 is holding me occupied until then. Flat gaming is not for me anymore, except football games.
I have had both the consoles at the same time, then had to sell them to put food on my table. I'm personally a PC person myself but my wife seems to really enjoy the Xbox series x and that's strange to me cause she use to be all about play station. Oh, and the video quality is amazing! Great work!
Awesome review with the kind of objective viewpoints I’d expect. I picked up an XsX at launch and have been enjoying the titles I’ve missed out on for the past 7-8 years on GamePass. Will definitely get a PS5 when they release a pro version and there’s enough exclusives ready to play.

I got a series x almost a year ago now, I’m still blown away by how good it looks, flight simulator literally looks like one of those 360 degree videos in a plane lol
Don't forget that Microsoft is rolling out Xcloud to consoles now so if you have ultimate you can play, or just try out a game, without having to download it. You can even play it while it's downloading. Great video sir.
I was extremely excited about the PS5, the controller blew me away and Astros playroom was such a fantastic game, it really took me back to the early days of PlayStation, unfortunately that's as much love as I can give the PS5. My Xbox series X is my daily driver, I'm constantly gaming on it, the backwards compatibility with the possibility of playing online is astounding to me, its an absolute game changer. I have been a PlayStation guy since the late 90s, I can't believe it but I'm an Xbox fan now ( when it comes to current gen anyway 🤣 ). The dualsense can't be ignored all the same, it's a brilliant controller BUT barely any game has used it well apart from Astros Playroom which is a real downside. Both consoles have good and bad but if you made me choose then I'm taking the Xbox series X and black ops 2 zombies with me 👍.
The lack of “next gen” games makes me not like my pS5. Ratchet and Clank rift apart is the only true next gen game for ps5. It has extremely higher resolution textures and ray traces effects compared to horizon forbidden west. It’s the only game I like to play when I want to feel like I got a ps5 for a next gen feel
I recommend playing all of the Gears of war games if you haven't before. And the graphics on the XSX version of Gears 5 is a early showcase especially with HDR.

I've seen people saying the problem with buzzing sounds is related to the headsets microphone. I've seen ppl turning off the auto voice recognition feature while others have put tinfoil around the sheath of the mic. Not suggesting these are good workarounds, but it would identify if you're having the same issue.
Quick resume is a under rated champ. Plus the fact you can turn the console completely off... Unplug it...and it still saves your game? That's console wizardry.
I would agree that PC can offer superior performance when you have the high end hardware... However MOST people do not want to deal with all the maintenance/upkeep/tinkering/ perpetual cost of dealing with a PC. Also don't have to worry about viruses on console unlike PC... It basically boils down to user friendliness and cost effectiveness. The console will always give better bang for the buck if trends stay the way they have for a good while. And your PC will always play second fiddle with games primarily being developed for console. So, while you pose a valid question... it is a rather niche one. I personally want to get off work and mash my ass into a recliner and enjoy a large TV and a console that works each and every time I press a button.... no driver updates... no Ram upgrades... no video card issues... no bullshit just play.

My biggest dislike about the Xbox series x may sound petty to a lot of people, but unless you have both systems you wouldn't understand. The Xbox series x is lacking a microphone and speaker built into the headset and it could use at the very least a small trackpad on the underside joystick. As far as PlayStation 5, my biggest dislike as compared to the Xbox series x is again something that may sound pretty petty unless you own them both. Quick resume and gamepass there is nothing like quick resume on the market even on PC and it is spectacular. I've literally played games and then gone two weeks without touching them and then open them back up and they were there in the exact same spot. I've turned on a game and during the opening cinematics I closed the game down when I first got the system and I still go back. Periodically and see that it's still there in the exact same spot. It is amazing and game pass quite simply game pass is the best deal in gaming.
My issue is that I can't use any USB headset with it. I have to use the headphone jack on the controller. But I can plug any wireless headset into my PS5 and it works perfectly. This makes no sense since the Xbox is essentially Windows lol....

I actually think that Flight Sim is currently the most "next gen" feeling game right now. The graphics and scale are simply mindblowing. I'm not really into this type of game but I couldn't stop playing until I beat all the challenges.
@@jonezus I did. Another mediocre Arkham wannabe with pretty graphics and a fun traversal mechanic, just like the first game. Insomniac's games are as fun as the open world games Ubisoft craps out every year. I'll never understand what people see in these games. The same goes for Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima. I own a PS5 because I want to play the Naughty Dog games, PSVR (Astrobot etc.) and Gran Turismo, which is being sold as the "Real Driving Simulator" btw. so it's also not a real game according to some of you.
As someone who has always been about Sony and only picked up a Series X due to availability, I have to say that it exceeded my expectations. Gamepass and quick resume are game changers and the recent update to the console web browser is really something else. I'm looking forward to seeing just what Microsoft implement next and just how Sony plan to catch up. Excellent video by the way! Just what I needed to start my day.
I wouldn't say Sony need to catch up rather respond to stay ahead. Quick resume would be welcome and ps now needs upgrading and dragging forward to be a better comparison to gamepass. Recent games added have been decent but imo they need to add and keep 1st party games on ps now a year or 2 after the initial release depending on popularity. Gow, horizon, spiderman, got etc 2 years with returnal, ratchet and clank and spiderman - miles morales maybe 1 year. Ps1-3 full back catalog where possible and agreed with licence holders added as well.
Right now outside of graphics enhancement the Series X isn’t offering much that my Xbox One isn’t already. Even Halo Infinite is on both consoles. The PS is your place to go for Japanese related RPGs and exclusives. Every current exclusive for Xbox is coming to Xbox One. So I am able to take advantage of all of the game pass games and as mentioned you can play the game pass games on PC.
You gotta try Gears 5 Hive Busters DLC. It takes full advantage of the series x tech for a last gen game and has to be the best optimized game on the system.
As a remote worker who sits at a desk all day with monitors everywhere, I don't want to relax where I work via PC gaming. That's why I have a Series X and Sony A9G OLED. Plus it runs all my old xbox games better, faster, and easier. Dolby Vision is a huge win over HDR10 due to improved color gradients and contrasting. Get that tv professionally calibrated if you haven't and you'll see the difference 😎 Also, get the elite 2 controller for your Xbox and you'll never go back to not having paddles!
Same here, I work on monitors all day, if I get a pc I'll need to connect it to my TV but I'm very Happy with my XSX, I'm planning on getting a pa5 if I found it at its regular price
You can go into your xbox series x setting to have speakers automatically mute when headset is active. Its in the settings you don't have to do it manually!

Good video. But there is an option in audio that will Automatically mute your TV when you connect a headset. On Xbox. On second thought maybe it wasn't there at the time you made this. Love the video. I got a series s for my son on Christmas. I'm still on the one x and ps4 pro and my computer. Maybe one day I'll be able to get both before this gen is over. This is ridiculous.
I have had both systems since launch and I'd say the differential in play is 85/15 for the Xbox Series X. The PS5 is mainly a paperweight. The only thing I prefer on the PS5 is the smoothness of the analogs. If I knew the disparity would be this great, I never would have pre-ordered a PS5.
@WorkInProgress and I can say the exact same about your comment. Sounds like a bitter fanboy. Xbox game library is much larger. The backwards compatibility on the PS5 is only to PS4 with a few older games that you can play online. Pretty sad they limit the game catalog in 2022. Now Microsoft is buying the big devs and that will majorly effect PlayStation once contracts end. I can keep going but, I'm just a fanboy..... Keep dancing!
Series X is my main, with the PS5 there for its exclusives. It's been that way for the past 4 generations. I think it simply come down to controller preference and that the average third party game runs slightly better on my OLED, with its VRR. When I spend £50-£60 on a game I like the reassurance of knowing I'm getting the best performance. As much as I have used every PS controller ( including the OG non joy stick PS1 controller) they have never felt as comfortable as the XBOX ones.... Plus Gamepass of course.

Probably already said but… zero static using he Xbox headset on a One X. And there’s an option to mute TV sound output when using a headset in the Xbox settings. Works with ALL headsets.
Well done review so thanks :) I’ve had PS5 for two months and just got an XSX so this was helpful. Ratchet & Clank is the best looking video game ive ever seen and Ghost of Tsushima is amazing as well so PS5 is getting lot of use lately. But I know over the next 5 years the XSX will get plenty of exclusives and Game Pass is a beautiful thing so if can afford it why not have both, or all three. Makes absolutely no sense to hate on a console cause you don’t own it. Should be thankful they all exist as the competition has made these consoles into srsly amazing machines.
Next 5 years is great for both … bloodborne 2 gets announced and it’s game over lol ff14 on Sony is killing right now and halo for Xbox it’s gonna be a shootout but ps5 is just overall better just cause of the quality of the exclusives
As someone with all consoles and a $1600 Gaming PC. And who has had every console ever created since the Atari, So I never leaned one side to the other until now? The only reason I'm leaning one way this time. Simply because Time is my enemy :( As someone with a family, Work and a bunch of hobbies. Simply only enough time for 1 console these days. So I've decided to sell my Switch and PS5 With Guitar taking up most of my time these days apart from my family, then Gaming and sports/movies and comics. I simply barely finish any games these days. Taking 2 consoles out of the equation. It will allow me to finish my games. So, Series X, I will be keeping it simply because of Gamepass, controller and the ability to play 90% of the retro consoles has made up my mind. Gamepass because it gives me so many different types of games. Big and small, a tone of 3rd party day 1 title. I really don't need to spend much money on games every year. With Halo Infinite and Forza H5 coming this holidays ill be so busy for a while. Controller because off-centred stick just feels right. Playing retro games on my series X in 4k 60fps has me playing so many classics when I can. In all honesty, As long as you're gaming it doesn't matter what it's on. PS5 or Switch are great consoles. Just for me right now. I don't have the time for them all. Great video, by the way, love your setup.
+1 to your decision. I am in the same boat. Recently became a father, have cycling as a time consuming hobby and an exciting yet challenging job. Sold my PS5 for the exact same reason. Was a Playstation guy since PS2 and never owned an XBox. But this generation I must admit the XBox nailed it for me. Gamepass is just genius. Plus somehow the PS5 exclusive are not really getting my intention any more.
Nice review, good pacing, closeups, and comparisons. Subbed! One suggestion - you should only hold the controller with your back two fingers (pinky and ring finger). Your index and pointer finger should be on trigger and front button, respectively, for faster response times with those buttons. That's partly why the Xbox controller feels short in your hands, it was designed with the expectation players are holding it with two fingers, not three. It's also the original Japanese controller from the original Xbox, which was deliberately designed for smaller hands.

@@OrkDiktator it’s the type of games that aren’t on Xbox that appeal to the masses like a lot of the PS5 exclusives. If you look at Xbox’s big titles they’re the same over and over again like gears and halo (which are two of my favorite games and I LITERALLY just bought a series s today to play those two titles because I couldn’t live without them and I already have a ps5, no bragging but showing I don’t have a side). Ps5 exclusives FEEL a lot more fresh and visually stunning. Forza is gorgeous but racing games for a lot of people aren’t a go to anymore so that’s why I wouldn’t bring up Gran turismo as being a definitive title either. Just look at the broad appeal the ps5 exclusives tailor to and how wel they execute them and I think that tells you why the ps5 for now is the better choice. But honestly cannot wait for halo, starfield,redfall and avowed. Bethesda is killing it rn I loved deathloop
@@housearrested2341 That's subjectivity what you come up with. In actual numbers, Xbox is more diverse (as proven above) and offers more high qualitiy gaming per Euro for the average gamer. Your argument still is that Xbox games were more the same than PS games, while PS games are all of the same kind, while Xbox has a much wider variety of games and genres to offer? If your feelings contradict the objective material reality, it's your problem. Factually it's not true what you say, it's only your "feeling". The Reality is that Playstation is only feeding the very center of the mainstream with cinematic walking simulators if you take away the story the games are literally exchangeable. Now try to replace Halo, Gears and Forza with each other. Those 3 big Xbox franchises franchises alone represent a wider variety of genres than the whole Playstation exclusive library. Btw.. I like story driven games in 1st Person and 3rd Person and even in my case Sony wasn't able to motivate me to get a Playstation. Why? Because I'm a veteran of gaming. I game for 35 years or so now. It isn't easy to impress me anymore and I analyze what's going on in the industry. Why should I take GoW or Days Gone over Bethesda Games? In 2018 I played 809 hours in Fallout 4 thanks to quest mods and even the base games with DLCs offer more to explore, a deeper lore, bigger and more diverse worlds. I just get much more playtime out of my investment than with any Playstation exclusive. And those kind of games are the most mainstream genres imaginable, what means that there are a huge, unbelievable amount of multiplat titles in those genres. And Sony, despite their many high quality franchises in that area, wasn't able to deliver one game in my favorite genre of stories: Sci Fi. I don't have any problems with your preferation of Playstation. The arguments you made are just wrong. Factually wrong. And anybody can prove it.
Its the quick resume for me. I was quite surprised that even after rebooting the xbox, quick resume still works and jumps straight into my game without breaking a sweat
I've had both consoles (PS5 and Series X) since May, I've also owned every playstation and xbox, and I have to say that I totally agree with everything in your review. To be honest I don't like the PS5 U.I. at all when compared to the PS4, though I do think it's pretty in 4K, and I do like the black with gold flakes color scheme. I don't like the Series X U.I. either, but it's the same as the Xbox one, so I'm less petty about that because there was no downgrade, as I loved the functionality of the ps4 U.I. And though I've had Gamepass since last gen, and i love it (i too still buy games on sale that I like, even on Xbox), I still spend half my time on PS5 because of last gen backwards compatibility. I owned over 550 digital games on ps4, so having access to them on the PS5 makes a difference, especially games like Yakuza 7,AC Valhalla, Avengers, Watchdogs Legion, Disco Elysium, that had free next gen upgrades. I played Yakuza 7 on PS5 right before it came to Gamepass. I own around 220 digital games on xbox, but 75% of them are original xbox and 360 games I either owned or bought to finish collections, after they became backwards compatible. Even though I bought the Mass Effect Legendary edition on Series X, I had already owned the original versions and could play them via backwards compatibility, and I'd bought everything else made by Bioware, like KOTOR, Jade Empire, Dragon Age Series, which are backwards compatible. Though games like Dragon Age Inquisition and Mass Effect Andromeda I have access to on both PS5 and Series X because I bought them on both ps4 and xbox one. And the other reason I'm 50% on PS5 is of course Sony 1st party. Though I spent 40 hours in Hades on Gamepass, even played some hours of Phoenix Point and Astria Ascending in Gamepass this week, the most impressive thing I've played this gen has been Demon's Souls remake. It was so good that I played Dark Souls 3 and 2 right after, which I owned but had never felt like playing on ps4, as I'd played a few hours of Bloodborne and I didn't really like it. Which lead me to spend more time on PS5. And though I'm going to play Forza Horizon 5, Redfall and Starfield, of course I'm more excited about God of War Ragnorak, Horizon Zero Dawn 2, Gran Turismo 7, Spider-man 2, Forsaken, Final Fantasy 16. I agree with you about Quick Resume and VRR of course, and as someone who upgraded their Death Stranding to Director's Cut, and owns Avengers, save data transfer with Smart Delivery is just so much better on Series X. The only way I'm a bit different is that I'm a little more even on the controllers. Though of course I love the adaptive triggers and Haptic Feedback, I think the dualsense is a bit too big. (I'm 6 feet tall, but average sized hands I guess) and after feeling the grip material on the back of the Series X controller, wish the Dualsense handles weren't so smooth. And though I have extra controllers, that battery life kills me. I too bought rechargeable battery packs for the Series X controllers, and they last long. And besides the grip on the back of the Series X controller, I think it has the best D-pad ever made. Though because I like 3rd person games a bit more, I will always prefer my analog sticks symmetrically next to each other like playstation does it, as opposed to the offset Microsoft sticks. Anyway, just wanted to say my piece, but great review. And if you haven't played Yakuza 7, but even kind of like JRPGs in any way or used to back in the day with Final Fantasy X, play it, it's so good.

Yeah, unfortunately all those weekly PSN sales (as I played my ps4 WAY MORE than xbox one last gen) got me to purchase a lot of games that either got good reviews or were in genres I enjoyed. Just in case I do want to play them 1 day, as of course I probably haven't touched most of them. Games from Just Cause 4,Dishonored 2, Mad Max, to smaller indies like Virginia, Streets of Red, or Songbringer, I own but have never touched. Then there's like a 100 more PS+ games in my library as well. But mostly I just wanted to reccomend Yakuza Like a Dragon. Behind TLOU 2, probably my favorite game of 2020, it's so good. And if you decide to play it, let me know what you think please, or you'll hopefully include your thoughts in a video! Thanks again!
I've owned both consoles and they're both great in their own way. If you want innovation and fancy features go with the PS5, if you want simplicity and quality of life go with the Xbox. GamePass and quick resume are features that I just can't live without anymore so I would probably say that I like the Xbox better this time.
Can we talk about the Xbox Bethesda acquisition, Starfield & Fable 3 releases on Series X? Also, lets not forget the partiality of Elder Scrolls 6 towards Xbox over ps5 with the Bethesda acquisition. I've always been a PS man myself as well just like you but the things I've already stated is making me jump ship.

The problem with the 'just get a PC' mantra is that it is an economic nonsense to buy a PC just for gaming these days (assuming you want 4K). You will be spending a *ridiculous* amount of money (several thousand) just to buy into PC ideology. You will also be paying to upgrade components over the lifecycle of the device, because developers feel free to impose higher spec requirements. If you need a beefy graphics card for video editing, then it makes sense to use this PC as your gaming rig. But otherwise, a console makes much more sense. So this is really a neutral factor for me.
Yes. I hate that argument they make "but you can do more with a pc so it has more value". I don't need it to do more, so it's a waste. That being said, I just build a pc, spent about 12,-14 hundred and I'm still missing the gpu. And some of the games I wanted are now coming out on console (Disco Elysium and Crusader Kings 3).... fuck me
Eh. Honestly depends how much you want to invest in gaming. Getting over 144fps consistently with amazing graphics and effects as well as being able to customise everything to your liking. Not to mention that they are a lot more compatible with more accessories. Such as ultra wide monitors. Its literally just personal preference. And in the long run it will cost u less that is if u buy games digitally and/or buy the online services as games are cheaper on pc and online gaming is free on pc. As I said, it really is just preference Edit: I forgot to mention that u will also not have to upgrade anywhere near as often if u want your system to be able to keep up with the newest games. For example I got my pc in 2015 and its still doing just as well as it was when I brought it and it can still run the newest games at near enough the highest settings whilst still getting over 60fps where as in 5 or so years my ps5 will most likely have to run the games at the lowest settings to achieve playable fps. Its the same for every console generation
@@TheCrazierz a pc is a reliable plug and play system. Another point is yes its far more powerful yes it will last alot longer. However to me personally I think the main selling factor is that u will save thousands in the long run.
It's been said but wow, the production quality, tone and flow is spot on! PS4 was my first ps as I made the jump from Xbox but have just jumped back to Xbox with an X, got that email link from MS for the Thanksgiving drop. For me it was customer service and the games I play are on both and I miss gears and halo. I should also say, I dont have a pc, as in I dont use one at home but I can understand the overlap concern for those that do.
I’ve got both consoles. But Gamepass has me playing more often on the Series X. There’s a bit of a lull right now with new games coming out on PS5, but once they start releasing, Xbox better have some of their own exclusives to keep up. Like you said, it’s a better gamer world with both consoles fighting for our money.
"Exclusives" suck on both platforms nowadays anyway.. I'm not a Forza fan and Ps Exclusives getting worse and worse (TLOU2 etc) 95% is cross platform so.

I went with a PS5 and the Xbox Series S. That seems like the sweet spot to enjoy both sides. PS5 drives my 4K tv for games in the living room. The Series S drives a 1080p monitor on my desk. For 300 bucks plus Games Pass I’ve been impressed. I have a powerful PC that I’ll play Halo on for better frame rates and fidelity too. I haven’t felt the need to look for a Series X at all.
Same here PS5 is my main console and Xbox Series S for playing GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption , Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 . Xbox game pass doesn't seem appealing to me.

Gamepass wouldve been great except they tried to take the unsubscribe button off. I'm on laptop but it happened on Xbox consoles as well. I will never trust Microsoft again. It's anti consumer.

I have game pass on PC the variety is a little under whelming BUT for the amount you get it's still a good deal. I just got bored of its contents recently and it's so slow to add many worthwhile games the past few months.

I own the series s and one thing that I see people never talk about is the quick resume feature that xbox has. The fact that I can pick up where I left off without needing to save is pretty nice (especially if ai have an unfortunate problem occur such as my wifi or power going out). It's honestly one of the best features on xbox in my opinion.

I guess controllers, design, UI are rather subjective. Everyone has their own taste. But for me it comes down to games. I play all types of adventures, sandboxes and RPGs. Nothing more. And in that aspect xbox has nothing to offer. Of course, there are multiplatform games, but there is nothing to competr with Uncharted, Tsushima, inFamous, God of War etc. Sadly, at this moment Microsoft does not offer anything like that. But I truly hope it will change with incoming Starfield and maybe some more that type of games so we have better competition between both.

Though I must disagree with the point about Xbox being short of games; there are so many amazing games on the system, including 360 and OG Xbox games. Game Pass is the MVP of Xbox at the moment, it's amazing. Plus, the Series X has smart delivery, which gives you the upgraded version of your already owned games for free.

I bought the series X as my first console, switched to a console after 2 decades of pc gaming. Wanted to keep things simple for my gaming as PC always needs some upkeep. The higher Graphics power in XSX and GamePass were my reasons to choose XSX.
Yeah I also feel the same way. The simplicity of consoles is great. PC gaming is also very expensive. I don't want to pay thousands of dollars for a good build.

One cannot deny the fact that you get better performance and quality on PC, but the fact of the matter is that you need to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on hardware to be able to achieve that performance. Yes consoles are not as powerful as high end PCs, but not everyone is able to drop $2000 on a GPU alone.
I bought a Series S. I know it's technically not as good. I'm not sure anything can beat it value wise. The console is relatively cheap, and gamepass makes it an amazing experience

What happens if you have a internet outage though can you still play all those games I've went through that i know if you have the disc you can still play
Bobby Strunk you can still play your digital games offline on the series S. You must start each game once you've downloaded (then simply exit the game) it to be able to play offline. If you only download the game and not started it then when offline your console will ask you to connect to verify ownership. I've tested this myself. MS may change this down the road but that's my experience as of 10/2021

I too own a PS5 and Series X. Had always been a PlayStation guy, dating back as far as the PS1 days. Game Pass however is incredible. I've probably been playing the X more than the PS5 lately, something I never imagined I would do.

I have both, but play the PS5 more. I do like game pass, but most of my friends are on PS. I also prefer the PS controllers and Xbox still has the worst menus I have ever seen.

I also own both and the Series X has become my daily driver for all things entertainment. The PS has some incredible games - but the Gamepass subscription is a game changer - its like having Netflix but for gaming. Being able to get new games on day one is awesome.

I have both consoles too, PS5 for exclusives and ps+ games but xbox its my main console for daily use because it fits me better and works better than PS5 in my case. Also backwards compatibility and 1440p supports wins.

The Series-X/S also has a Dark Mode Option to make the Ui softer on your eyes Plus you can add Any Picture/Image you want to the Dashboard (including Dynamic Images) and also choose your own theme to personalise the consoles even further.....Microsoft has released the update to make the Dashboard Native 4K now PLUS the option for Dolby Vision Gaming as well !!
As for the playing with Headphones.....Make sure you've changed the Audio Options in the Console Settings Menu to Headphones then you can choose to use either Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, Stereo or even Mono.
The Series-X/S also allows you to play your Own Music at any time you like such-as in-game or on the Dashboard if you so desire.
Smart Delivery is another one of Microsofts Great New Features for Xbox this Generation.....So if you already own a game for the Xbox One and play it on the Series Console, it will automatically (and free of charge) give you the updated version.....Basically, which-ever platform you decide to play on (Xbox One, One-X, Series X/S or P.C) it will Automatically give you the best version of that game that's available, No Messing About, Simple, Nice and Easy.....Where-as PlayStation does things the complete polar opposite, as they charge you for their upgrades and can be a lot of messing about to actually get the latest upgraded version of a game from the PS4 to the PS5 !!
Regarding Storage.....Unfortunately, none of the games that are out for the Series-X/S right now have been made to Leverage the Full Benefits and Power of their Custom Made Velocity Architecture, therefore the Storage Solution and Compression Tech they've created isn't being used to it's Full Potential just yet, so the Storage Speeds and Graphical Quality Etc. will improve in-time, once developers start utilising the Full Features inside the sleek little rectangle power-house and optimising their games specifically on and for these Next Gen Consoles.....Which won't be too long now since they've already announced plenty of games that are being developed like this !!
Because developers didn't have Proper Full Series Dev Kits as early as they wanted, simply because Microsoft wanted to have the FULL Feature-Set of RDNA-2 inside their New Xbox (which the PS5 doesn't have) we're having to wait a little longer than intended before we can get to see the Full Potential of Microsofts Next Gen Consoles.....But like I said, that's coming Soon !!

I have the series X, and the wireless headset. There aren't any connection or sound issues for me whatsoever, as well as flawless connection to my phone at the same time. I think which ever system you enjoy the most, or owning both if possible is the way to go.

Game pass is a game changer, I tried games that would Never buy and actually enjoy them.
2 absolutely simple things though that could be an improvement:
- Record party audio when you record play
- Better battery indicator for the controller
I never thought of playing Dead Cells but Game Pass made play it out if curiousity. 100 hours of game time now

I own the Series X and absolutely love it, with that being said I'm waiting for a revised version of the PS5 to release so I can pick up the original version at a cheaper price. The exclusives are simply too good to not play on Playstation.
I've been going back and forth between consoles for like 25 years now. From N64 to PS2, Xbox360, Wii, PS4, Switch and now I got a Series X as the game pass and backwards compatibility were a huge draw for me. I also simply love the Xbox controller. At the end of the day it's a matter of preference but you sure are better off keeping an open mind and compare each generations' consoles. Deep down I am still somewhat of a Nintendo fanboy as the SNES was my first console, but over the past 15 or so years I definitely have played a lot more on PS and Xbox overall.
I had a PS4 last generation and decided I would move to Series X after seeing quick resume and game pass in action. I cannot justify spending 50-70 on games anymore. Gamepass is a game changer for me.

But the really positive thing with gamepass is that you try games you were curious about but realistically would not have purchased.
On Series X the Metro Exodus Ray Tracing is very impressive.
This game does not get enough praise. it is visually stunning and has the best implementation of UI/inventory i have ever experienced.

I've had the ps5 since march 21 and it has drastically improved with updates. But I don't have a high end pc and just brought a series x as well. Tbh I have always preferred PlayStation but this year there is no clear winner both consoles excel and fall in different areas. For me I decided get both and be done with it. I'm very fortunate with the limited stock issues in the UK.
This video has been the most non biased video on youtube. Its nice to not get a fan boy video bashing the other console and just giving an honest opinion on both consoles.
For me PlayStation has great exclusives....... but Xbox will in the future have Bethesda games line up and I'm a massive elder scrolls/fallout fan plus future halo games. Plus a Xbox and ps5 cost less combined then a nvidia 3080 graphics card at the moment
I got really fortunate to land the ps5, series X and a 6900xt! Oculus Quest for travel. I agree it’s nice just appreciating both without feeling the need to side.
I've had a PS5 for just over a year now, but i've got alongside an Xbox One X which used to be my main console and i've been wondering if i should upgrade to a series X and be done with it. Game Pass is great, but im looking forward to see if Playstation really do bring out a like for like competitor for it. I'm looking forward to future Playstation exclusives, more than Xbox currently, but must admit, Flight Simulator, Halo have a draw on me too...so tough. I was so determined to be a one console user this time round and chose PS5 simply as it was in stock first....now im confused!
@@andygreen4760 I can speak from my experience. I have ps5 and series x. What the Xbox does better is, the controller lasts way longer without a charge or having to replace battery’s. The graphics are better, the 120 hz works way faster then the ps5 does. If you use headsets, the overall output on the Xbox will blow the ps5 away. If you play games like call of duty, the loudness is nite and day better on Xbox. I have both hooked to an lg oled tv, and side by side. The Xbox no doubt.

I like that it doesn't mute my external sound source. My son will come in while I'm gaming and want to watch. And he can still hear the game while I use the headset.
There’s an option for this in settings, people in party’s hated the echo but I’ve often got someone with me. I used to change the settings now I just hold volume a few seconds when alone and avoid party’s when not.
I just managed to get my Series X about a month ago BUT SKIP THAT BRO THIS QUALITY IS AMAZING! I genuinely thought you were a well known youtuber but oh boy was I wrong. You are severely underrated and deserve FAR more credit. Returnal is natively rendered at only 1080p, then uses temporal upsampling to get to 1440p and then it uses checkerboard rendering to get to 4K - this comes at the cost of image quality. And it still runs only at 60fps with some dips to mid-to-low 50s. I think that this game does not belong to this list...

The extra storage on the Xbox is invaluable. I ran out of space on my PS5 way too fast. If I had those 175GB the Xbox has I wouldn't have had the problem.

I like this extensive review. Both consoles are true next gen upgrades. I'll choose Xbox this time. GamePass, form factor and ease of use. Will get a slim down version of PS5 later down the line for the single player exclusives alone.

You can actually now automatically mute the TV when you connect a headset on Xbox.
Just go Settings -> General -> Volume & Audio output -> Additional options -> Mute speaker audio when headset attached
I’m a Mac user, so the Xbox makes a heck of a lot more sense than a PS5. Honestly? You skipped the whole issue with the PS4/PS5 upgrade path and how infuriating it is to even make sure you’re BUYING/PLAYING the PS5 version of a game. That comic book game that’s coming to Game Pass? The upgrade on PS5 was straight ridiculous.

I play my XBSX on the LG OLED C1 which is the best gaming TV out currently, the quality is absolutely stunning. Gaming at 60-120 fps in native 4k is smooth as butter.

Not gonna lie every and anyone using headsets even spendy ones just sound like they swallowed the mic and can't stop chewing it.

Recommendations: Gears of war franchise and Sea of Thieves
I have both consoles. I play strictly Playstation exclusives and everything else on Xbox. The controller's haptic feedback is really good and I hope Microsoft one day will implement this nifty feature in their future controllers. The haptic feedback is much more detailed and accurate rumbling effects. The VRR of the Xbox series X is also very helpful for those with higher end TVs like the CX and C1.
I have both also and I only play the ps5 for exclusives everything else is on xb .
I actually do not hope they add that or at least make it a separate controller as it makes it take way more power for stuff I don’t really need nor care about, I wish lights made it that much more cool but I just have an RGB controller that works amazing
@@cloudedxmarbles6284 One positive thing about the Xbox controllers is being able to remove the batteries and replace them easily. I've upgraded the batteries in my controllers with a bigger power bank and they last much longer. But yeah, PS5 controller runs out very quickly.

Kraken compression is something that doesn’t get talked about often. When the PS5 first got announced everyone was up in arms about how small the drive it but in reality is you can store as many games on it as you can a 1tb series X and also having the flexibility of choosing M2 drives on the open market instead of having a proprietary format (Sony leaned their lessons from the Vita’s proprietary memory cards
Love my Series X for its backwards compatibility. I can still play all my favorites from years ago all on 1 system. Plus GamePass has given the option to try so many games I wouldn't have bought, and I've found some that I really like!

Unfortunately the backwards comp is not as good as I expected.
Resident Evil 5 from the 360 doesn't run on the series x for example.
From my old og xbox library there are only max payne 2, Black, Hunter Reckoning and The Punisher. Would have loved to play Otogi, The Suffering, Knights of the Temple, Unreal 2 and many more again but no.

I have the PS5 and I love Screen Share and share play. You didn't even touch on that. Two totally dope features.
That’s because unless you have very good internet on both ends, it’s almost unusable. And PS4 had it as well.
When it works, it’s amazing. But it doesn’t work consistently all the time.
My PC and Oculus Quest 2 has both screen share to other PC's, a wireless monitor or even to my phone. Even my phone itself can project to a screen to a smart TV since 3-4 years now. This feature is really not new.

I own both and i genuinely feel like the Xbox series x is a stronger machine and is very close to a gaming PC the only thing it's missing is better games which playstation seems to have an abundance.

I’m a PlayStation guy, but Game Pass got me to buy a Series S, which is my first Xbox in 15 years. It pairs perfectly with my PS5. This is what I will say about these platforms in 2021. Xbox has the better ecosystem, but PlayStation has the better exclusives and controller. I recently attacked my backlog and played Last of Us Part 2, Astro’s Playroom, Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and God of War. Not only were they are incredible, but they were also some of the greatest games I’ve ever played, it’s actually insane.

Haptic sensitivity on the PS5 is good and all. But quick resume is awesome on the Xbox x. It’s a game changer for me.
Saying the PS has the “better exclusives” is completely subjective and should be said like it’s a fact. Also, Xbox has had the better controller for the past 20 years, how convenient that you forget that. And even now, the Xbox controller has the most important thing, a dedicated latency chip. There’s also the Elite controller and the fact that Microsoft is also working on those Dualsense gimmicks as well..

I own both consoles but end up playing my Series X more because of the massive amount of games that are available on game pass. Other than Horizon, GoW, FF7 remake, I don't generally play my PS5. With that said however, I'm a PC gamer and collector of shinny expensive toys so I own a switch and most other notable consoles as well.
You dont own any of them and the trade off is more expensive for playing the same games on a subscription.

as someone who has both next gen consoles since launch, The ps5 has collected dust. Spiderman miles was the only game i cared about, and in 2 days of playing and finishing it, there was nothing else worth it on ps5. Out the 10 months since launch, the ps5 has been used for a month. Series x has just everything better along side gamepass.
i also have a 3090 gaming pc. i still prefer to enjoy series x gaming over pc on some titles.

Give Returnal a shot. I don't like Rogue likes but I've put over 60 hours into the game. It's a sleeper hit in my view. I really like my Series X but I've been putting more hours into the PS5. Gamepass as a concept is great but I only have so much time to devote to games so I try to stick with AAA games, unfortunately there's basically no current gen AAA games on Gamepass. That will change but there's simply more higher quality games on the PS5 at the moment. With that said I'm looking forward to Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5.
Ok but your opinion doesn’t mean the PS5 doesn’t have games that are just as good that’s just your preference. Games like Returnal, Ratchet and Clank, and Ghosts of Tsushima directors cut are doing really well and has people playing for hours.

That white Series X skin looks pretty sweet. Nice video by the way, it's the first of your videos I've seen before. Personally, I'm a Series X gamer, but I don't have any commitment to either brand. I've bought every console from Sony and MS since PS1, I just don't feel a personal need for a PS5 yet this gen. Both consoles are great in their own right.

I'm not interested in buying PS5 until PSVR 2 comes along. The Quest 2 is holding me occupied until then. Flat gaming is not for me anymore, except football games.

Awesome review with the kind of objective viewpoints I’d expect. I picked up an XsX at launch and have been enjoying the titles I’ve missed out on for the past 7-8 years on GamePass. Will definitely get a PS5 when they release a pro version and there’s enough exclusives ready to play.

Don't forget that Microsoft is rolling out Xcloud to consoles now so if you have ultimate you can play, or just try out a game, without having to download it. You can even play it while it's downloading. Great video sir.

I was extremely excited about the PS5, the controller blew me away and Astros playroom was such a fantastic game, it really took me back to the early days of PlayStation, unfortunately that's as much love as I can give the PS5. My Xbox series X is my daily driver, I'm constantly gaming on it, the backwards compatibility with the possibility of playing online is astounding to me, its an absolute game changer. I have been a PlayStation guy since the late 90s, I can't believe it but I'm an Xbox fan now ( when it comes to current gen anyway 🤣 ). The dualsense can't be ignored all the same, it's a brilliant controller BUT barely any game has used it well apart from Astros Playroom which is a real downside. Both consoles have good and bad but if you made me choose then I'm taking the Xbox series X and black ops 2 zombies with me 👍.
The lack of “next gen” games makes me not like my pS5. Ratchet and Clank rift apart is the only true next gen game for ps5. It has extremely higher resolution textures and ray traces effects compared to horizon forbidden west. It’s the only game I like to play when I want to feel like I got a ps5 for a next gen feel
I recommend playing all of the Gears of war games if you haven't before. And the graphics on the XSX version of Gears 5 is a early showcase especially with HDR.

The storage/compression difference is really interesting.
I've seen people saying the problem with buzzing sounds is related to the headsets microphone.
I've seen ppl turning off the auto voice recognition feature while others have put tinfoil around the sheath of the mic.
Not suggesting these are good workarounds, but it would identify if you're having the same issue.
Quick resume is a under rated champ. Plus the fact you can turn the console completely off... Unplug it...and it still saves your game? That's console wizardry.
It still needs to be improved though.

I would agree that PC can offer superior performance when you have the high end hardware...
However MOST people do not want to deal with all the maintenance/upkeep/tinkering/ perpetual cost of dealing with a PC.
Also don't have to worry about viruses on console unlike PC...
It basically boils down to user friendliness and cost effectiveness.
The console will always give better bang for the buck if trends stay the way they have for a good while.
And your PC will always play second fiddle with games primarily being developed for console.
So, while you pose a valid question... it is a rather niche one. I personally want to get off work and mash my ass into a recliner and enjoy a large TV and a console that works each and every time I press a button.... no driver updates... no Ram upgrades... no video card issues... no bullshit just play.

My biggest dislike about the Xbox series x may sound petty to a lot of people, but unless you have both systems you wouldn't understand. The Xbox series x is lacking a microphone and speaker built into the headset and it could use at the very least a small trackpad on the underside joystick. As far as PlayStation 5, my biggest dislike as compared to the Xbox series x is again something that may sound pretty petty unless you own them both. Quick resume and gamepass there is nothing like quick resume on the market even on PC and it is spectacular. I've literally played games and then gone two weeks without touching them and then open them back up and they were there in the exact same spot. I've turned on a game and during the opening cinematics I closed the game down when I first got the system and I still go back. Periodically and see that it's still there in the exact same spot. It is amazing and game pass quite simply game pass is the best deal in gaming.
My issue is that I can't use any USB headset with it. I have to use the headphone jack on the controller. But I can plug any wireless headset into my PS5 and it works perfectly.
This makes no sense since the Xbox is essentially Windows lol....
I recently moved into another house. I plugged back my consolle after 3 days…and my games were still there, opened! Outstanding.

I actually think that Flight Sim is currently the most "next gen" feeling game right now. The graphics and scale are simply mindblowing. I'm not really into this type of game but I couldn't stop playing until I beat all the challenges.

@@jonezus I did. Another mediocre Arkham wannabe with pretty graphics and a fun traversal mechanic, just like the first game. Insomniac's games are as fun as the open world games Ubisoft craps out every year. I'll never understand what people see in these games. The same goes for Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima. I own a PS5 because I want to play the Naughty Dog games, PSVR (Astrobot etc.) and Gran Turismo, which is being sold as the "Real Driving Simulator" btw. so it's also not a real game according to some of you.
As someone who has always been about Sony and only picked up a Series X due to availability, I have to say that it exceeded my expectations.
Gamepass and quick resume are game changers and the recent update to the console web browser is really something else.
I'm looking forward to seeing just what Microsoft implement next and just how Sony plan to catch up.

I wouldn't say Sony need to catch up rather respond to stay ahead. Quick resume would be welcome and ps now needs upgrading and dragging forward to be a better comparison to gamepass. Recent games added have been decent but imo they need to add and keep 1st party games on ps now a year or 2 after the initial release depending on popularity. Gow, horizon, spiderman, got etc 2 years with returnal, ratchet and clank and spiderman - miles morales maybe 1 year. Ps1-3 full back catalog where possible and agreed with licence holders added as well.
Right now outside of graphics enhancement the Series X isn’t offering much that my Xbox One isn’t already. Even Halo Infinite is on both consoles. The PS is your place to go for Japanese related RPGs and exclusives. Every current exclusive for Xbox is coming to Xbox One. So I am able to take advantage of all of the game pass games and as mentioned you can play the game pass games on PC.

You gotta try Gears 5 Hive Busters DLC. It takes full advantage of the series x tech for a last gen game and has to be the best optimized game on the system.
No game to date is more graphically pleasing than Gears 5 and Hivebusters.
As a remote worker who sits at a desk all day with monitors everywhere, I don't want to relax where I work via PC gaming. That's why I have a Series X and Sony A9G OLED. Plus it runs all my old xbox games better, faster, and easier.
Dolby Vision is a huge win over HDR10 due to improved color gradients and contrasting. Get that tv professionally calibrated if you haven't and you'll see the difference 😎
Also, get the elite 2 controller for your Xbox and you'll never go back to not having paddles!

You can go into your xbox series x setting to have speakers automatically mute when headset is active. Its in the settings you don't have to do it manually!

Good video. But there is an option in audio that will Automatically mute your TV when you connect a headset. On Xbox. On second thought maybe it wasn't there at the time you made this. Love the video. I got a series s for my son on Christmas. I'm still on the one x and ps4 pro and my computer. Maybe one day I'll be able to get both before this gen is over. This is ridiculous.
I have had both systems since launch and I'd say the differential in play is 85/15 for the Xbox Series X. The PS5 is mainly a paperweight. The only thing I prefer on the PS5 is the smoothness of the analogs. If I knew the disparity would be this great, I never would have pre-ordered a PS5.

The backwards compatibility on the PS5 is only to PS4 with a few older games that you can play online. Pretty sad they limit the game catalog in 2022. Series X is my main, with the PS5 there for its exclusives. It's been that way for the past 4 generations. I think it simply come down to controller preference and that the average third party game runs slightly better on my OLED, with its VRR. When I spend £50-£60 on a game I like the reassurance of knowing I'm getting the best performance. As much as I have used every PS controller ( including the OG non joy stick PS1 controller) they have never felt as comfortable as the XBOX ones.... Plus Gamepass of course.

Probably already said but… zero static using he Xbox headset on a One X. And there’s an option to mute TV sound output when using a headset in the Xbox settings. Works with ALL headsets.

As someone with a family, Work and a bunch of hobbies. Simply only enough time for 1 console these days.
So I've decided to sell my Switch and PS5
With Guitar taking up most of my time these days apart from my family, then Gaming and sports/movies and comics. I simply barely finish any games these days. Taking 2 consoles out of the equation. It will allow me to finish my games.
So, Series X, I will be keeping it simply because of Gamepass, controller and the ability to play 90% of the retro consoles has made up my mind.
Gamepass because it gives me so many different types of games. Big and small, a tone of 3rd party day 1 title. I really don't need to spend much money on games every year.
With Halo Infinite and Forza H5 coming this holidays ill be so busy for a while.
Controller because off-centred stick just feels right. Playing retro games on my series X in 4k 60fps has me playing so many classics when I can.
In all honesty, As long as you're gaming it doesn't matter what it's on.
PS5 or Switch are great consoles. Just for me right now. I don't have the time for them all.

+1 to your decision. I am in the same boat. Recently became a father, have cycling as a time consuming hobby and an exciting yet challenging job. Sold my PS5 for the exact same reason. Was a Playstation guy since PS2 and never owned an XBox. But this generation I must admit the XBox nailed it for me. Gamepass is just genius. Plus somehow the PS5 exclusive are not really getting my intention any more.

One suggestion - you should only hold the controller with your back two fingers (pinky and ring finger). Your index and pointer finger should be on trigger and front button, respectively, for faster response times with those buttons. That's partly why the Xbox controller feels short in your hands, it was designed with the expectation players are holding it with two fingers, not three. It's also the original Japanese controller from the original Xbox, which was deliberately designed for smaller hands.

All the games mentioned above in the entry post are cinematic 3P Action(-Adventures / -RPGs) with or without stealth elements. In every other kind of game is either Xbox offering a better recieved option
or Sony isn't even able to deliver anything noteworthy.
@@OrkDiktator it’s the type of games that aren’t on Xbox that appeal to the masses like a lot of the PS5 exclusives. If you look at Xbox’s big titles they’re the same over and over again like gears and halo (which are two of my favorite games and I LITERALLY just bought a series s today to play those two titles because I couldn’t live without them and I already have a ps5, no bragging but showing I don’t have a side). Ps5 exclusives FEEL a lot more fresh and visually stunning. Forza is gorgeous but racing games for a lot of people aren’t a go to anymore so that’s why I wouldn’t bring up Gran turismo as being a definitive title either. Just look at the broad appeal the ps5 exclusives tailor to and how wel they execute them and I think that tells you why the ps5 for now is the better choice. But honestly cannot wait for halo, starfield,redfall and avowed. Bethesda is killing it rn I loved deathloop
@@housearrested2341 That's subjectivity what you come up with. In actual numbers, Xbox is more diverse (as proven above) and offers more high qualitiy gaming per Euro for the average gamer. Your argument still is that Xbox games were more the same than PS games, while PS games are all of the same kind, while Xbox has a much wider variety of games and genres to offer? If your feelings contradict the objective material reality, it's your problem. Factually it's not true what you say, it's only your "feeling". The Reality is that Playstation is only feeding the very center of the mainstream with cinematic walking simulators if you take away the story the games are literally exchangeable. Now try to replace Halo, Gears and Forza with each other. Those 3 big Xbox franchises franchises alone represent a wider variety of genres than the whole Playstation exclusive library. Btw.. I like story driven games in 1st Person and 3rd Person and even in my case Sony wasn't able to motivate me to get a Playstation. Why? Because I'm a veteran of gaming. I game for 35 years or so now. It isn't easy to impress me anymore and I analyze what's going on in the industry. Why should I take GoW or Days Gone over Bethesda Games? In 2018 I played 809 hours in Fallout 4 thanks to quest mods and even the base games with DLCs offer more to explore, a deeper lore, bigger and more diverse worlds. I just get much more playtime out of my investment than with any Playstation exclusive. And those kind of games are the most mainstream genres imaginable, what means that there are a huge, unbelievable amount of multiplat titles in those genres. And Sony, despite their many high quality franchises in that area, wasn't able to deliver one game in my favorite genre of stories: Sci Fi. I don't have any problems with your preferation of Playstation. The arguments you made are just wrong. Factually wrong. And anybody can prove it.

Its the quick resume for me. I was quite surprised that even after rebooting the xbox, quick resume still works and jumps straight into my game without breaking a sweat

I've had both consoles (PS5 and Series X) since May, I've also owned every playstation and xbox, and I have to say that I totally agree with everything in your review. To be honest I don't like the PS5 U.I. at all when compared to the PS4, though I do think it's pretty in 4K, and I do like the black with gold flakes color scheme. I don't like the Series X U.I. either, but it's the same as the Xbox one, so I'm less petty about that because there was no downgrade, as I loved the functionality of the ps4 U.I.
And though I've had Gamepass since last gen, and i love it (i too still buy games on sale that I like, even on Xbox), I still spend half my time on PS5 because of last gen backwards compatibility. I owned over 550 digital games on ps4, so having access to them on the PS5 makes a difference, especially games like Yakuza 7,AC Valhalla, Avengers, Watchdogs Legion, Disco Elysium, that had free next gen upgrades. I played Yakuza 7 on PS5 right before it came to Gamepass. I own around 220 digital games on xbox, but 75% of them are original xbox and 360 games I either owned or bought to finish collections, after they became backwards compatible. Even though I bought the Mass Effect Legendary edition on Series X, I had already owned the original versions and could play them via backwards compatibility, and I'd bought everything else made by Bioware, like KOTOR, Jade Empire, Dragon Age Series, which are backwards compatible. Though games like Dragon Age Inquisition and Mass Effect Andromeda I have access to on both PS5 and Series X because I bought them on both ps4 and xbox one.
And the other reason I'm 50% on PS5 is of course Sony 1st party. Though I spent 40 hours in Hades on Gamepass, even played some hours of Phoenix Point and Astria Ascending in Gamepass this week, the most impressive thing I've played this gen has been Demon's Souls remake. It was so good that I played Dark Souls 3 and 2 right after, which I owned but had never felt like playing on ps4, as I'd played a few hours of Bloodborne and I didn't really like it. Which lead me to spend more time on PS5. And though I'm going to play Forza Horizon 5, Redfall and Starfield, of course I'm more excited about God of War Ragnorak, Horizon Zero Dawn 2, Gran Turismo 7, Spider-man 2, Forsaken, Final Fantasy 16.
I agree with you about Quick Resume and VRR of course, and as someone who upgraded their Death Stranding to Director's Cut, and owns Avengers, save data transfer with Smart Delivery is just so much better on Series X.
The only way I'm a bit different is that I'm a little more even on the controllers. Though of course I love the adaptive triggers and Haptic Feedback, I think the dualsense is a bit too big. (I'm 6 feet tall, but average sized hands I guess) and after feeling the grip material on the back of the Series X controller, wish the Dualsense handles weren't so smooth. And though I have extra controllers, that battery life kills me. I too bought rechargeable battery packs for the Series X controllers, and they last long. And besides the grip on the back of the Series X controller, I think it has the best D-pad ever made. Though because I like 3rd person games a bit more, I will always prefer my analog sticks symmetrically next to each other like playstation does it, as opposed to the offset Microsoft sticks.
Anyway, just wanted to say my piece, but great review. And if you haven't played Yakuza 7, but even kind of like JRPGs in any way or used to back in the day with Final Fantasy X, play it, it's so good.

Yeah, unfortunately all those weekly PSN sales (as I played my ps4 WAY MORE than xbox one last gen) got me to purchase a lot of games that either got good reviews or were in genres I enjoyed. Just in case I do want to play them 1 day, as of course I probably haven't touched most of them. Games from Just Cause 4,Dishonored 2, Mad Max, to smaller indies like Virginia, Streets of Red, or Songbringer, I own but have never touched. Then there's like a 100 more PS+ games in my library as well.
But mostly I just wanted to reccomend Yakuza Like a Dragon. Behind TLOU 2, probably my favorite game of 2020, it's so good. And if you decide to play it, let me know what you think please, or you'll hopefully include your thoughts in a video! Thanks again!

I've owned both consoles and they're both great in their own way. If you want innovation and fancy features go with the PS5, if you want simplicity and quality of life go with the Xbox. GamePass and quick resume are features that I just can't live without anymore so I would probably say that I like the Xbox better this time.
Can we talk about the Xbox Bethesda acquisition, Starfield & Fable 3 releases on Series X? Also, lets not forget the partiality of Elder Scrolls 6 towards Xbox over ps5 with the Bethesda acquisition. I've always been a PS man myself as well just like you but the things I've already stated is making me jump ship.

The problem with the 'just get a PC' mantra is that it is an economic nonsense to buy a PC just for gaming these days (assuming you want 4K). You will be spending a *ridiculous* amount of money (several thousand) just to buy into PC ideology. You will also be paying to upgrade components over the lifecycle of the device, because developers feel free to impose higher spec requirements. If you need a beefy graphics card for video editing, then it makes sense to use this PC as your gaming rig. But otherwise, a console makes much more sense. So this is really a neutral factor for me.
Yes. I hate that argument they make "but you can do more with a pc so it has more value". I don't need it to do more, so it's a waste. That being said, I just build a pc, spent about 12,-14 hundred and I'm still missing the gpu. And some of the games I wanted are now coming out on console (Disco Elysium and Crusader Kings 3).... fuck me

Eh. Honestly depends how much you want to invest in gaming. Getting over 144fps consistently with amazing graphics and effects as well as being able to customise everything to your liking. Not to mention that they are a lot more compatible with more accessories. Such as ultra wide monitors. Its literally just personal preference. And in the long run it will cost u less that is if u buy games digitally and/or buy the online services as games are cheaper on pc and online gaming is free on pc. As I said, it really is just preference
Edit: I forgot to mention that u will also not have to upgrade anywhere near as often if u want your system to be able to keep up with the newest games. For example I got my pc in 2015 and its still doing just as well as it was when I brought it and it can still run the newest games at near enough the highest settings whilst still getting over 60fps where as in 5 or so years my ps5 will most likely have to run the games at the lowest settings to achieve playable fps. Its the same for every console generation

@@TheCrazierz a pc is a reliable plug and play system. Another point is yes its far more powerful yes it will last alot longer. However to me personally I think the main selling factor is that u will save thousands in the long run.
It's been said but wow, the production quality, tone and flow is spot on! PS4 was my first ps as I made the jump from Xbox but have just jumped back to Xbox with an X, got that email link from MS for the Thanksgiving drop. For me it was customer service and the games I play are on both and I miss gears and halo. I should also say, I dont have a pc, as in I dont use one at home but I can understand the overlap concern for those that do.
I’ve got both consoles. But Gamepass has me playing more often on the Series X. There’s a bit of a lull right now with new games coming out on PS5, but once they start releasing, Xbox better have some of their own exclusives to keep up. Like you said, it’s a better gamer world with both consoles fighting for our money.
100% agree. If you can only afford one, get a ps5. If you can get both you'll find yourself more on the XSX than the PS5.
Considering all of the triple-A studios Microsoft has picked up in the past few years... I believe Sony will be the one playing catch up.

"Exclusives" suck on both platforms nowadays anyway.. I'm not a Forza fan and Ps Exclusives getting worse and worse (TLOU2 etc) 95% is cross platform so.
I’m very fortunate enough to have a PS5 and I have just purchased a Series X vis Xbox All Access and I’m buzzing for Game Pass. I’m currently playing Rachet & Clank but their is a definitely lull for PS5 games currently so I’m exited for Game Pass for sure. Great video
I went with a PS5 and the Xbox Series S. That seems like the sweet spot to enjoy both sides. PS5 drives my 4K tv for games in the living room. The Series S drives a 1080p monitor on my desk. For 300 bucks plus Games Pass I’ve been impressed. I have a powerful PC that I’ll play Halo on for better frame rates and fidelity too. I haven’t felt the need to look for a Series X at all.

Same here PS5 is my main console and Xbox Series S for playing GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption , Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 . Xbox game pass doesn't seem appealing to me.
