- Hey everyone, what's good!
In this video I would like to share with you my experience with panel line scribing. In my journey to learn more techniques about Gunpla customization I felt like panel line scribing would be one of the most exciting and rewarding techniques. So I picked it up as a first step. This video is not meant as a tutorial, but more like a first testimonial of my experiences.

Hi Brian, thank you for the kind words. I'm currently working on a video showcasing panel lining and weathering on the RG Char's Z'Gok. Please look forward to that one :)
I learned the hard way (twice) that light pressure is a MUST when scribing. Finally spent the extra money and got SAB scribing chisels, highly recommend!
Same here, I also got my hands on SAB scribers a while ago. I actually mendtioned them in my newest video and used them to scribe custom panel lines for a MG Unicorn. I'm planning on getting more sizes. Do you use them with the holder or without?
@@GiantRobolove I actually just use them bare metal, but I might actually heat shrink the included tubing on to give it a try. I haven't really experienced any clumsy moments or slips that I can think of. I think I bought the .15 and a 1.0 for starters. What sizes do you have?
I have the 0.15, 0.3 and 1.0mm. I'd like to own a 0.2 and 0.5 as well.
This video is so underated
Glad you enjoyed it 😃
awesome video man, keep it up! I will say i actually was curious to see how someone would completely blind
Thanks for your comment Adrian. It was definitely a great experience. Have you tried it?
Nice video! I am about to start learning on how to do the panel line scribing. Thank you for the tips
Thanks a bunch. Happy that you found something to take away from the video. Good luck with your scribing!
Nice video. I personally like the "hook type" engraving thingies more, but to each his own. Important is quide tape. I bought some from Dspiae which even comes with a mm scale on it. It's also transparent. Very cool!
I think it's funny that you watch the content backwards. I learned so much ever since that video. The dymotape was so hard to work with. Happy that I have transparent ones now. I bet the Dspiae one is also very hand with its mm scale.
Regarding the hook type: I somewhat associate this type of chisel with aircraft/sci-fi modelers. I think Plasmo also uses them if I'm not mistaken.
@@GiantRobolove I am not sure if there is a specific application for these things, I just noticed that the chisel type I bought, didn't really scribe a nice and even line. It looked rather messy. Was also a Border Model one, iirc.
Yeah, I just randomly watch the videos however I can and whenever I have the time. Don't worry, if I see a very old one, it's clear to me that you probably have improved by now. :D
You had me at "janel"
Subbed
😂
Lol thx my man. I'll see you in the next video.
U inspired me to finally scribbing my emtry grade since i dont have proper tools here i tried using home supplies but made lines too wide and rough thanks in future i know what to avoid
Hey Anurag, that's awesome! I'm glad I could be of help. Let me know how it goes for you when you try it on your next kit :)
@@GiantRobolove i do have some picture where do i share to send u? Actually the chest and shoulder parts didnt went symmetrical i now know dymo tape or scribing tape is the way 2 go
Do you have Instagram? You can send me message there if you want. You can find me here instagram.com/giantrobolove/
@@GiantRobolove ok u got a new follower and a message
cool video
Thanks a bunch!
Ravi pla uses a plastic epoxy called green stuff I believe
That's the two part epoxy right? I might check it out. Thanks for the hint.
@@GiantRobolove it is yea but I just double checked the video of his where he made the backpack for his sazabi and he used a similar product called magic sculpt
Is there a way to do scribing without any of the specialized tools, using just a hobby knife? I cannot afford to buy the tools.
Actually there is. Check out Peco's Modelling channel. He does scribing with a hobby knife, it's insane.

Masking tape would work..
I can't remember if I mentioned this. But yeah, I guess it would.
