Builders supporting builders 😊. I enjoyed seeing the growth in just a couple weeks time along with how well Luke comes across when providing constructive input. The mark of a good teacher in my opinion.

This scribing tutorial is on another level! I admire you not showing you own skills but calling an expert scriber to share his approach and providing advices and commenting on your work. This is so cool of you and so much more valuable than any other scribing tutorials! Your channel rocks!

Hey, thank you so much for that! Part of growth is knowing what my limitations are and I'm glad I can give you guys good info not just from me, but other amazing builders as well!
Plus, being an example of what not to do is something I'm more than happy to do in order to help others learn! 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I truly appreciate your continued support!

@@PlamoTherapist one of the strengths of your channel and your contents is presenting materials from a different perspective, not showing perfection but how to improve from errors and mistakes. I started following gunpla Luke too. He is awesome 😎 I hope you feel better after last week message (looks like so to me from your video). I hope the gunpla building event is going well and you are receiving a ton of photos 😊

I don't pretend to be a professional, and I hope that I am conveying that well.
I am feeling a bit better and have a plan for the 5K once I am ready. As for the community event, I only have a few do far, but that just means more of a spotlight on the people who HAVE submitted! 😁

@@PlamoTherapist, I think you totally convey your love, passion and enthusiasm for this hobby and sincerely want other people to appreciate and enjoy the benefits a hobby can do to someone’s mental health. This is not being a pro for the pro’s sake, IMHO.
I’m glad you feel better and do not feel pressure about the 5k. The right time will come when you feel it will be the right time.
There are still a couple of weeks before the end of the community building event, so you will receive more entries. It will be fun to see everyone else’s creations! Have a great weekend. I’m going to talk about Japanese sci-fi, Gundam and gunpla today at a local bookstore at an event organized by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Museum, MUFANT. It will be the first event to launch the Gundam/gunpla exhibition I’m the curator of at the museum that will open in early May. It will be fun!

@@PlamoTherapist Hey you got it. I've dabbed into scribing on a GM Command going over existing lines for practice. It's pretty cool how you can gain more certainty only after a little bit of work. . A year or two ago I wouldn't even risk the thought of scribing in fear of messing up a kit, but with any skill it requires some investment and practice. It made me a better modeler for it.

Love me some Luke. I ended up winning a giveaway from him, hinting us in on the fact we were in the same state. He came to drop off the kit i won, and ended up having my old bands music (that was lost on myspace) on his phone. GUNPLA BRINGS THE WORLD TOGETHER!

I haven't rescribed lines etc with these Gundam kits until lately. I already had the gist of using a scribing tool from the armor (tank) models I build and with some kits correcting weld seams by cleaning out the original detail, using milliput or recarving firecuts as well as fixing molded hatch doors etc. I've had to employ this method numerous times to fix bad sprue connections in places that was crazy to be attached to the parts tree. The Gundam stuff is a little new to me especially using the scribing tape.

Hey, great idea! If I could make an additional recommendation, look into the magnifier lamp lights! They're great for magnifying the piece but also illuminating it so you don't strain your eyes too! I have one on my desk, but it was a gift so I can't provide a link, but I'm sure you can find one out there to fit your needs. 😁

A compass would help you to make the lines more symmetrical/precise by premarking the lines, edges, corners and/or where they meet etc before laying on the guide tape. It would help out dramatically.
    Keep up the good work👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I think bro just recommend all the unnecessary pricey brand, when you can get it done with nonbrand chisel as long as it made out of tungstein..
And that stripe guideline, dont use it, trust me, it will cover your design behind it when scribbing..
    Other than that, he's right..

    • @PlamoTherapist
      @PlamoTherapist  Рік тому +3

The reason he recommends quality brands is because you can never tell if the non-branded quality WILL be good enough. Sure there may be SOME knock-offs that work, but it's a gamble more times than not. Versus if you buy the brands recommend, you can reliably trust that they WILL work.
Secondly, if you're covering up your scribe design with the rulings in the tape, you're probably using it wrong. The idea behind the ruled tape is that you can measure the lines you scribe to accurately copy them to the mirroring panel. Any other use is probably incorrect. We're not saying this is the ONLY brands that'll work, but he and I recommend them for a reason.
