This was one of the first organ works I ever heard on the radio when I was a teenager. And this magnificent performance brings me back to my youth.

Must have been the camera angle, a few times I thought I saw a smile! That's what Bach does to me!---That church sure looks old.

I have it figured out. Short haircuts for baroque organs and longer haircuts for Engish cathedral organs and compositions. Very simple, very easy. ;)

Such a wonderful way to begin my day. I awoke to Glucks Melodie (Orfeo Ed Euridice), playing in my head, and have been in a good mood ever since. I am trying to commit my favorite melodies to memory so I can carry them with me where ever I go. Thanks again you two. xx

I always thought I couldn't really play because of the small organ, but that's the proof that I just have to practise!😅

Fabulous performance! Thanks for posting it. I think it would be interesting to hear a performance of the concerto in its original form (violin and orchestra) and then revisit the organ transcription version. I've heard the organ version hundreds of times, but I've never heard the original version.

01:28 There's a chordal descent right here. The repeated 4 note phrase is repeated at 1/2 step lower, rather than Bach's usual full step descent. Gives it a more modern sounding resolution. I wonder if that is the same in the original Ernst concerto. Tell me if I'm wrong

It's pretty sad that Johann Ernst died so young. He could've become a very talented composer, judging by Bach's organ transcriptions of his concertos.
