Amazing to think that this piece was originally written for violin. Just shows how the power of Bach’s music transcends the instrument it is played on.
The organ puts this music in heaven. The guitar shows the flow. You can sing with the cello or discover its universality on the koto. Busonis piano transcription unveals the drama. But the painful cry and the sorrow of the young widower is still in the violin. Looking forward to the transcription to the next instrument of one of greatest pieces of music mankind has created ever.
Wonderfull 👏👏👏 thank you Blessing from Lebanon 🙏 You elevate the heart and spirit You transport us up away from Misery and sadness, may U live In happiness and good will🙏
The use of trumpets at 9:40 is inspired. Even the orchestral transcription doesn’t dare that level of boldness, and in hindsight falls short a bit as a result.
The videos of the Scott Brothers Duo brothers are necessary to watch at least twice, once with eyes open to see the images and the performance of Jonathan and Tom when he also plays. And a second time with eyes closed to feel with the soul and fall in love. 🙌👍😘🥰❤️🎶🎶🎶
I was at this amazing concert and I can say, that I have never heard this organ being played in such a masterful way, displaying all it‘s possibilities!! Thank you Mr. Scott!
A grand piece piece of music. A grand sound. A grand performance. Sensational! 👏👏👏👏👏 (Would love to have heard & felt this in person.💥) Beautiful visuals too. Thanks for sharing. 💐🎹🎶
This must be the ultimate proof not just of the universality of Bach but also (without any disrespect at all of this performer) his utter indestructability! The piece was written for unaccompanied solo violin, yet (like the great Toccata and Fugue in D minor, which may also have originally been a violin piece) it can be played on just about any instrument - or combination of instruments - that you care to name.
You seem recovered from your injury. I'm glad for it!! The organ is a bit weird, but it sounds very nice. The performance was great even though it sounded very sad. Congratulations and thanks for sharing!!👏👏👏💖😘😘
A great, thrilling performance on a fantastic organ. Each time I hear Jonathan play I realize more and more what a fantastic organist and musician he is.
Hallo! What a sensitive piece, I now if Bach would hear this he say very well done Jonathan thank you. Thanks for the Great Sound and Film. With Love from the Netherlands.
EXCELLENT! and I didn't have to bribe anyone to get some Bach. Its sad that musical styles like the Chaconne and the Ricercar were losing popularity even in Bach's time. I love those forms. Great job Jonathan
Oooh, that's an incredible organ! Yet another piece that's new to me & it's by Bach, my favourite composer!! So glad to see your left hand is better, Jonathan. You must have been sore after this programme!! I really admire the way you play Bach & this was a glorious example of it. Wonderful video - thank you boys!!
Un capolavoro assoluto!!! Una trascrizione superlativa!!! Una esecuzione straordinaria di una intensità emozionante!!! Chapeau Jonathan!!! Complimenti vivissimi anche a Tom per le sue riprese audio e video ... impeccabili come sempre!!! Chapeau Tom!!!
Beautiful, wonderful! And the video captures the grandeur of this performance very well. Congratulations to you two, you always surprise us! Thank you!
Magnificent in every way. Whilst written for a violin, and fiendishly difficult to master on that instrument (I’ve been trying for decades), this transcription displays the full majesty of the composition. What an organ and thank you so much. You moved me to tears remembering my mum who passed away in May. She loved her local church and part funded a new electronic organ for it a few years back. The church is nearly a thousand years old and so every time I hear that organ play I remember her legacy in a very special place for our family. The cycle of our time passes so quickly but Bach transcends the centuries.
My grandmother died just about a year ago and this is what I listened to on the way to the cemetery. She didn't live very far away from the place where this was recorded.
I learned this piece for piano and after a while I thought that it should sound great on the organ. The versions I heard were good, but this one is perfect. And it does not surprise me since you are the best
Marvelous! I've always thought that J S Bach had a lot to say through his music, however, I was sure that in a few places, I could actually hear some words. Maybe it's just me. Thanks Scott Bros. Welcome home. XX
Con questa sua trascrizione e con questa sua esecuzione magistrale Jonathan tocca un vertice sublime di una bellezza assoluta nella storia organistica di tutti i tempi!!!
My goodness. What an incredible instrument! The variety of the different stops and the voices, and timbre of each, is BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for taking the ENORMOUS amount of time to practice, perform and record this wonderful piece from Bach on this majestic instrument. I sincerely hope you have made some more recordings on this organ 🙏
Every time there is a registration change my heart litterally skips a beat ❤️😱 From 12:30 onwards, the diminuendo, and then that ever building crescendo, just more and more and MORE, UNBELIEVABLE! EXPLOSIVE!
Splendid combination of Jonathan' skills, the registration, and the properties of the acoustics in that space all make for a remarkably memorable performance. Thank you brothers for what you continue to do for those of us who are far flung, but participate via UA-cam! DJ in Knoxville TN
I was already having a particularly good day, and this video is the perfect cherry on top. (I've heard Bach may have composed this when his wife passed away, but hopefully he will approve of this piece being enjoyed by someone centuries later.) Bravo Jonathan for the wonderful interpretation and Tom as always for the sound and visuals!
What an incredible organ! It's suits Bach more than I thought it would! Another fantastic post - thank you guys! I must admit I find the console layout of many European organs very hard to get my head around - three layers of pistons over each stop tab! Makes ventils like a walk in the park for any organist not used to some French organs!
I've been anxiously awaiting/ hoping for the time when you would play this magnificent piece. I'm currently working on the transcription of it for classical guitar ( by Andres Segovia ). Such an emotional piece and you have captured it beautifully. Thank you to you and Tom for sharing so generously the immense talents you both possess.
Utterly amazing interpretation by Jonathan on that wonderful organ in that huge resonant space and Tom captures the sound and visuals so well. Its one of my favourite Bach pieces. Must have been some concert given that the program also included Jonathan performing his transcription of the entire Beethoven's 5th symphony. Oh to have been there.
Outstanding! What sound! And I'm amazed that you trusted the crescendo pedal for -- apparently -- all the registration. A bold choice, and it worked. I'm trying to find info on the organ. Thanks so much!
@@ferasmy Ah. Thanks for responding! My reasoning was based upon not seeing any of the stop tabs in the "on" position, or changing throughout the performance. Likewise it appeared that none of the old-style setter tabs above each stop tab were in use. Does the modern combination action in the drawer not move the stop tabs? I really wish I could find more information on this organ, but there is nothing about it on the Klais website.
@@charleslayton9463 When the organ was renovated in 1991, a separatly set of register-pistons (with "only" 64 combinations) was included in a drawer to the right of the organ player (below the main stops). This is of course hopelessly outdated today. But Klais always did it that way in this time. The three free combinations (old-style setter tabs) are still in operation. Today, the consoles were modify (see Cologne Cathedral) with switchable buttons, which is also much more practical and visible.
Amazing to think that this piece was originally written for violin. Just shows how the power of Bach’s music transcends the instrument it is played on.

I LOVE the loooong pause just before the final chord
I could listen to Bach all day long😊😊😊😊
Magnificent sound! Doesn’t matter where and which organ he touches, it always sounds incredible. Bravo.

Bach's music and the way it is interpreted are so overwhelmingly beautiful, it's almost like a supernatural experience.
It IS supernatural.
It cerainly feels superhuman every time I hear it performed by a truly accomplished musical instrumentalist.
It's unbelievable that such a transcendent composer ever walked this earth.
More impressive and accurate than most other organ adaptations I know ... Bravo Jon!
Wonderfull 👏👏👏 thank you

Magnifique,👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
soooo deep!!!!! no rock song can ever reach this masterpiece!!
No comparison. While they are both are music, they orbit at different heights.
my favourite piece of organ music (transcription wise)
Great work by a great composer, played by a great, prodigious organist, on a great organ! Well done Jonathan.
Can't stop listening to this master-piece!!! Oohh!!! So f-ng super-great played!!!!🥲🥲🥲🤗🤗🤗💪💪

Brillant (compositor-organist-instrument)
Speechless!
Beautiful!
Mesmerizing interpretation👏
Spectacular. How beautiful.
Beautiful masterwork, arrangement and interpretation
Bach : Organ ( heaven of sound ), Guitar ( heaven phrasing ).🙏
I wouldn't have guessed this was Bach, very subdued & peaceful. (I'm not ignoring the middle, w/the fantastic pedal tune!)
The most romantic-style of Bach's pieces.
An incredible interpretation! The organ sounds spectacular. I was lucky enough to be at the concert. Thank you for sharing this wonderful work.
Absolutely amazing!😁👏👏👏👏❤️
That pause before the final chord . . . Way to torture us, Jonathan! LOL I have chills!
That organ's sound is amazing
Absolutely wonderful
Breathtaking!
Staggering arrangement and performance.
Many thanks.
So beautiful and touching, thank you very, very much!
