Installing D45 Style Binding Around the Fretboard Extension and Binding the Peghead

  • The last sections of binding and purfling material, for the peghead and around the fretboard extension over the body, are installed in this segment. The peghead binding was fairly straight forward except for when I superglued my thumb to the project. I used a heat gun at a very low temperature to warm the binding and purfling lines so they would bend nicely at the corners.
    Accurately routing the slot and mitering all of the lines that surround the fretboard extension over the body is very difficult and time consuming. Most of the video is devoted to this activity.

    The ol super glued finger. You'd think we'd just wear some rubber gloves, but never do.

    These videos never cease to amaze me. Surgeons are even less meticulous and careful than Gary is.
    I own a nice Taylor: while it looks and sounds great, it was made by software programs and CDC machines.
    Whereas a Zimnicki guitar...
