  • In this video I am gluing the neck to the dreadnought guitar body. While I have occasionally used a dovetail, I prefer the mortise and tenon joint because I feel that it is much stronger, more permanent, and allows for better coupling of the neck to the body, resulting in a better sounding guitar. I have used this approach since I built my first acoustic guitar around 1980 and have never had a neck joint come loose. It could still be steamed apart if necessary, so I don't see any downside to this method of attaching the neck, even though it is less common than the dovetail.
