The battery lide is way better on s24 ultra, video quality is way better also, portrait mode has 4 different focal lengths, night photography/videography are better also and the selfie camera. Anyways its literally better in 80% of ways.
While I'm still on the Pixel 7 Pro version, doesn't seem like the 8 Pro is worth the upgrade and I will await the 9 Pro release later this year. Until then, it will be my 7 Pro and my new tech toy, the OnePlus 12 😁
Mine gave such a bad experience I ended up returning it. It would close apps running in the background, but it would make them disappear completely from the recents tab for some reason, never got fixed and my s24 ultra and iPhone 15 pro max don't do this
I'm on the Pixel 7 and I was hoping that Gemini and Google Assistant would work together and hand off the tasks to each other. Called me old fashioned, but how the f**k does one justify these flagship premium phone prices when their performance does blow away the mid range competition.
another problem with 8 pro is Sharing Hotspot wifi on 2,4 GHz, it's not working you have to switch to 6G for it to work and it's not compatible with old devices
I’ve tried to use phones less for consuming media. I switched to e ink tablets for reading. Deleted all social media off my phone. And I don’t read in bed, so my screen time has gone down significantly these past few years. - Josh
Yup it's not the average use case in this day and age. Probably don't need a flagship if you are using it that little. You may as well not mention the battery as it says nothing about the battery life.. I assume he has juice left after that 1-2 hours lol. Mine can "reliably get at least 3-5hours and up to 8 apparently. It just has random days where battery drains super fast where I'm at 50% by lunch. So weird. I've had to turn off key features like AOD and 5g to get my current SOT.
I recommend also, for people that like the Pixel clean UI, to try the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra or 50 Pro. Basically the some UI, with great hardware, materials and killer gestures (the best ones). They're collaborating with Pantone for the screen and skin tones in the camera, and could even access some (all?) Google Photos software options.
Also, many features are not available outside of the supported countries like VPN, 5G, human temperature measuring also, you can't use e-sim on LTE version of pixel watch 2. Pretty bad for the company like Google.
I love the Temperature sensor. I work in an aquarium and check the temperature of my motors all the time. I also happen to check my own temperature, but checking the temperature of my equipment and making sure everything is remaining safe is a boondoggle.
I used the temp sensor quite a bit. Its not always accurate but it gives good indication and is useful at those moments. If they can improve it it would be a even more useful feature.
I made a mistake and bought curved edge P30 pro. It was a good phone till today when SIM card was not recognized anymore. For 4+ years I am satisfied, but I love the no curved edge phone finally! :)
Temperature sensor? I am 42 yo and I know when I have a fever or not. Do I need to know if the fever is 100.5 or 100 6?? No I have a Pixel 7 pro and love it. For regular photos, the cheaper phone the better. I don't need to spend $1k+.
8:29 According to the video at least, the pixels being displayed on the 8 Pro are much better and closer to white, with slightly less blue (both very little for that part though), than the other phone that looks awful!
Recently parched it because I got it at a discount price through Verizon.. it's definitely an upgrade from my Motorola phone which does not have water resistance or wireless charging
I need to upgrade to a new phone I have a Galaxy s20 Fe and it's definitely slowing down so debating if I should get a Google pixel or the s24 ultra. I just want something that will take good pictures and I can edit out unwanted things in the background
Clean UI, good performance (I'm not a gamer), amazing cameras, great screen, 7 years of OS updates and you can find it for $700 brand new. Thats a killer package imho. Samsung is trying to compete with iPhone with those prices and I think its just not worth it.
im switching to this phone mostly because because ive heard good things about the camera and the software also i think ive been holding on to my iPhone 12 pro a little to long.
Temperature feature is good if u forget ur phone in ur car it will automatically shut off, its happened to me i live in las vegas. And gets reallly hot...phone doent get damaged
I used to be a hardcore nexus user then got the first few Google pixels and switched to oneplus and now back with the 8 pro but this whole Google giving away features that they made seem like only possible on the tensor chip was a slap to the face after paying over $1200 for the 256gb version. Also the software hasn't been as great as i remember it being in previous pixel phones I have some very annoying bugs like the pill navigation bar moving to the side of the screen instead of sticking to the bottom and sometimes my app drawer staying on the screen and freezing my phone for a few seconds. I wish googles tensor chip was stronger like the snapdragons the gaming experience hasn't been the best even the previous oneplus phone I had was better in gaming performance. I kind of regret this purchase not going to lie.
A good phone really gimped by the performance and battery efficiency, changed to S24 ultra for the battery alone. Also the camera is incosistent, sometimes it's the best picture i have ever seen on a phone sometimes i would be shamed as having an "Android phone" by iPhone users
Just got mine about a week ago. Nice phone but a little disappointed with the battery life. It holds up well when not using it but once i start doing anything it goes down much faster than the cheap moto I just had. I definitely notice a big difference. Other than that i like it so far.
Gemini is always asking me to unlock my phone for any basic command. I can’t ask what the current weather is without actually unlocking my phone , also I can’t even text anyone without unlocking my phone
Pretty sure the thermal sensor has something to do with the camera performance. They must be covering something. Who else is dumb enough to a temp sensor to a phobe
I can buy an open box pixel 8 pro now for $479. Do you think that this is a good price? Wondering if I should wait until Xmas for a possibly better price. Currently have a pixel 7 phone. Ty
@@silvershadow3199 I agree, I have no issues with my pixel 7 either. Turns out the open box p8 pro from best buy was carrier locked. I had to bring it back for a refund. I was a lil bummed
Cheaper and does all the same thing the more expensive phone does. Plus I have crap load of Google stock so I might of well help the sales even its just 1 phone.......
I just got the phone and I really love it but so far the overheating has been an issue. I've only had it for 3 days and people are saying to give it a couple more days. If it doesn't get fixed by day 10 I will have to return it. Sadly. Other than that I really like this phone
Sometimes Gemini is much more useful than Google Assistant, but it still has a lot of flaws, but over the time of use it has improved, and I think by the next three generations of Pixel Phomes, it should be in Google Assistant range Of Features. I am a Google Pixel 8 Pro user.
Here's distinct. The shape. Pixel got rounded corners like an iPhone. And I hear the S25 Ultra is going to also copy iPhone with rounded corners. But why is the screen resolution lowered. My 6 Pro has better resolution than the 8 Pro. Is it for better battery life. Because I'm sure I cannot tell the difference probably? But still.
I find the pixel camera good , but not always good, and against my 14 pro max , they trade punches , they both have strength's and weaknesses. I will say the only reason i bought the 8 pro was for the picture editing features, we had a death in the family and a pile of old photos to try and make acceptable for the funeral service , and it did a fair job for that purpose , but it does have limitations, you just cannot magically make a bad photo good no matter how good the editing software is. It's a decent phone i think , but my iPhone 14 pro max is still the device i carry . I have my iPhone on charge and I'm near my macbook in the lounge or ipad and get a phone call , the call comes through on both , and I can seamlessly take the call on either . I know people babble on about the apple ecosystem, but it really does have some advantages. The iPhone has magsafe which I use every single day. Is it perfect? No none are , but it is pretty good imo and I'm a long time android boy since the galaxy note 2 . So I'm not biased , for me the pixel makes a good second phone. The temperature thing i was highly sceptical about is use , but as time passef on several occasions, i have found some interesting uses for it. Just one off the top of my head , in hot weather here in australia one day i wondered what the difference in temperature would be between one of our cars painted black in direct sunlight and a white car , they where both still bloody hot, but the white car iirc was about 8 to 10 degrees cooler , how hot is my coffee , lol you know these not really important questions 😊, still handy to have though.
I recently purchased the Pixel 8 pro, and I must say, I don't like it! It has way to many apps that are not used. The keyboard can't keep up with my typing. Missed letters, etc.
I have a Pixel 6 Pro and find the Google Voice dictation for texting to be pretty dodgy at accuracy, names are almost never capitalized, random words are, it types words like "wood" instead or "would" on occasion, spells out "period" instead of using punctuation, etc. WTF, Google? This is 2024 and you've had how long to work on this?

I love the Temperature sensor. I work in an aquarium and check the temperature of my motors all the time. I also happen to check my own temperature, but checking the temperature of my equipment and making sure everything is remaining safe is a boondoggle.
I used the temp sensor quite a bit. Its not always accurate but it gives good indication and is useful at those moments. If they can improve it it would be a even more useful feature.
I think the temperature sensor is great and would be very usefull paired with the camera mode to have a temperature camera in your phone.
No
I have a Pixel 7 pro and love it.
Post-covid, i think a temperature sensor is a pretty good idea lol
Thanks for the info you are helping me make my decision.
I like the thermometer feature!! Very handy imo
No white balance is a baffling thing to omit. It's a must have feature imo.
I also upgrade pixel 8 pro from s23 ultra ,my son have s24 ultra, but honesty speaking its camera is far more superior from both s23 and s24 ultra
It’s just not a high end device…
The 15 pro or s24+ are both way better high end devices…
They're also about $400 more as well.
Yeah, it feels like it’s on the cusp of being a flagship but isn’t quite there
I need to upgrade to a new phone I have a Galaxy s20 Fe and it's definitely slowing down so debating if I should get a Google pixel or the s24 ultra. I just want something that will take good pictures and I can edit out unwanted things in the background
I love my pixel 8 pro!!! My first pixel ever and definitely won't be my last!
Clean UI, good performance (I'm not a gamer), amazing cameras, great screen, 7 years of OS updates and you can find it for $700 brand new. Thats a killer package imho. Samsung is trying to compete with iPhone with those prices and I think its just not worth it.
is there any way to rename picture name in google photo just to find the photos you need?
Agree that front camera is still a weak spot for pixel, details lags behind competition. Wish for better efficiency from future pixels
im switching to this phone mostly because because ive heard good things about the camera and the software also i think ive been holding on to my iPhone 12 pro a little to long.
And you didn't mention that the video boost option takes forever for even a very very short video.
Just got mine about a week ago. Nice phone but a little disappointed with the battery life. It holds up well when not using it but once i start doing anything it goes down much faster than the cheap moto I just had. I definitely notice a big difference. Other than that i like it so far.
I think the temp reader could be good for cooking as well!
I got that!! I wanted to play music through Gemini and it gave me the same blank reply hahaha! I thought 'no' and reset my assistant to Google
The temp reader is a good thing to have even if u dont use it alot
I can buy an open box pixel 8 pro now for $479. Do you think that this is a good price? Wondering if I should wait until Xmas for a possibly better price. Currently have a pixel 7 phone. Ty
I have also got P7 256 and I'm considering getting the P8 pro 256 for £700.00, but the problem is my P7 has no issues.
@@silvershadow3199 I agree, I have no issues with my pixel 7 either. Turns out the open box p8 pro from best buy was carrier locked. I had to bring it back for a refund. I was a lil bummed
Buy it!
Great review the Samsung stuff is most likely because the tensor chips are made in collaboration with Samsung
Thanks for the info on the pets for the best take feature. I didn't know that.
How bas is the overheating?
Sometimes Gemini is much more useful than Google Assistant, but it still has a lot of flaws, but over the time of use it has improved, and I think by the next three generations of Pixel Phomes, it should be in Google Assistant range Of Features.
I am a Google Pixel 8 Pro user.
The pale colour maybe be because of the display? Send the image to the iPhone
Do we need temperature sensor? NO
What do we need? A HEADPHONE JACK
How about both 😂😅
Can anyone explain the issued we will face while using a us model pixel 8 pro in India
Only 35% battery at the end of the day with only 1-2 hours screen on time? How was it that bad?
Imagine if he played games on the thing lol
Djeez, i would need to charge it twice a day…
No i’m no gamer at all.
Just a heavy user 🙈
Turn off 5G
@@thomasward00 buy a flagship but turn off some features to make it trough a day.
Shouldn’t be needed.
@@rubendemarez3281 even that doesn't stop battery drain
With the world getting hot, that thermometer is gonna be handy
2:00 why is the selfie on the pixel actually nightmare fuel....? 😮
I just got one yesterday. for my Mom.
I'll stick to my Fold 5.
Can you put the phone in night mode? And have a dark theme in the settings
Yes :)
The temperature feature is almost like Google knows theres going to be a next pandemic.
Or that youre a mom of littles 😅
I feel like the person who put temp sensor in side of the phone was bake or sth, although its nice to have anyways
Google needs to put the feature where we can project the phone screen to the monitor via USB cable, FFS!
screen detached from the phone on my Pixel 7 pro : is build wuality improved on 8?
Getting this video recommended exactly 6 months later has to be a clever algorithm joke
1-2 hr SOT is a really light user.... Lasting all day isn't much of an achievement.
I have pixel 8 and I think it is worth it🎉
Thanks for sharing. I agree. Esp. with Gemini useless feature.
I would like one, but Google can't manage to sell their phones globally. So I have a S24 Ultra instead.
So 1-2 hours of SOT = 65% of battery gone? How can you use this in a normal life? This phone is for people who are not using their phone at all....
The base model Pixel 8 is worth every dime ❤
Is you need a camera get the pixel, if you need a smartphone get a galaxy
personly i like that google is experimenting with gimmicks like a thermometer, as it shows that they trying to innovate
A câmera deste telefone é soberba. Eu posso encostar a minha mão à câmera e não desfoca. Não conheço outra igual.
Posso perguntar se está a gostar do telemóvel?
Aquece muito?
My Pixel 3 still going strong
Yeah for sure, especially battery life 😉
Snapdragon
If anyone has a work around for the white balance post it please
When you said temp sensor I assumed it would like cool itself down if it got too hot or something not put it to your forehead that's so weird 😂
