I have had my Pixel 8 Pro for about two weeks now and I love it! I have read many reviews and watched hundreds of UA-cam videos about the phone before buying it. I previously owned the Pixel 3 XL, 4 XL, and 6 Pro. I have always enjoyed the Pixel experience even though the phones always had issues. This phone is probably the best Pixel phone and far exceeds the previous phones. I have not experienced some of the issues that other have mentioned such as over heating, lagging while scrolling, connectivity issues, apps shutting down, or any other issues. My experience as of now has been nothing but positive. Before this phone I had the Samsung S23 Ultra and that was a good phone but I am not a fan of Samsungs version of Android. I primarily use my Pixel for phone calls, a lot of texting, media consumption, and for social media, so for me this phone does everything I need it to do just fine. I really do not play games on my phone, so that is a non-issue for me. I do take pictures but I am not professional photographer so in my opinion picture quality can be subjective at times. So for me overall the Pixel 8 Pro is a much more enjoyable experience and I have always enjoyed what Pixels have had to offer.
Do not disable the Pixel tips app until you comfortable using the Pixel phone and apps, it will give new users tips and default programs like messages will recommend new features to enable as you use them more.
THE LINK SHARE THING IS SO GOOD. IT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. OH MY GOD. Its one of the only things i didn't know and its byfar the most useful
I have a tip. If you're like me and you can't stand the gestures for navigating, like swipe left to go back, you can re-enable to old school 3 buttons at the bottom again! Just go to Settings, system, navigation mode. Then choose 3-button navigation. And you can even go into that setting and turn on hold home button to activate Assistant, so you can change the power button back to the power button if you want.
There was at one time, I think for the Pixel 2XL and maybe up to the 4XL, a third option. It was a fantastic combination of two buttons and a few simple swipe gestures. IDK why Google won't give us that third option again?
@@TECHNIKMM Because the swipes never work the first time for me. ESPECIALLY the swipe up to change apps which is almost the same gesture to open app drawer. Having a dedicated button makes it so much easier to navigate! It's a 6.7 inch screen, so they don't take up much room. Also they can become transparent, and they disappear if something is in full screen.
As a Pixel 3 user upgrading to the Pixel 8 Pro this video was extremely helpful to get to know a lot of the features that I never had access to or just didn't know about. Thanks! I'm probably using about half of them already.
I think one that is better than remove animation, is go to dev settings, then turn animation speeds down to 0.5, it makes the phone feel WAY snappier and doesn't look horrible with no animations.
One correction for "Bonus Tip #3": the 'Flip to Shh' option actually enables Do Not Disturb as long as the phone is flipped, silencing all notifications, not just the current call. By default, the phone will silence current calls when you flip it over WITHOUT enabling that option. I prefer this behavior over silencing all notifications in DND.
This has been SO helpful. I have been an iPhone user for over a decade and have now moved to the Pixel 8 Pro. This has helped me get to grips with how to get best use out of a brand new device and OS. I have certainly hit the subscribe button as I am now keen to delve further into what this beast of a phone can do. Thank you WhatGear!
Do you have hot device? Mine is hot or superhot even when google, scroll through google photos, and if use camera, it is over 40 celsius. It is hard to use or hold in hand 😢
"Truly unique wallpaper" select from 7 (SEVEN) options. Very unique indeed (and yes I realise I can then further customise but only using words suggested by Google). If it could generate based on words I could input, then yes, a unique wallpaper.
There's an accessibility setting to also activate Google Assistant by swiping from the bottom left or right corner! I thought I lost that feature by switching from my s22 ultra and was thrilled to find it!
Ahh thanks bud! Just got this phone as my second/ work phone- my main phone is a iPhone 15 pro so been having fun getting to know this one. Didn’t know some of these tips so you’ve been a great help! 🙌
This is a very well made video, thank you. Most valuable tip for me that I found on Reddit was to update Google Play Services and Security, reset Device Health Services and Bluetooth and WiFi when transferring from an old phone. Only after that battery life is acceptable, before that I had (for 2 weeks) a horrendous overheating problem and 1 1/2 h screen time max per battery charge that lasted roughly 12 hours.
Great Video! This is my first experience to Pixel with a 8Pro. Coming from a 5year old Oppo Reno i am loving the discovery of this device. Thanks again!

For the extended unlock settings, I recommend choosing your car's Bluetooth as it makes you spend less time interacting with your phone and if someone else needs to use it for any reason they can without asking for your password and distracting you each time.
Super nice video. Now before i buy the phone please let us know how to remove the google search bar and at glance without install other launcher? Is two spaces on the screen for nothing.
Thanks for this elaborate video. I really appreciate it, especially because I’m making the switch from iOS to android with the Pixel 8 pro and this is immensely helpful. 🎊🎊

Thank you for the clarity of your instructions (albeit a bit fast, but thankfully there's a feature for pause or replay...) I loved the double tap for flashlight, the ways to customize and to understand the security . My personal fav is putting the previous and home buttons on the bottom of the screen!

Great video, thanks! I actually use the app-pinning feature a lot when I'm drawing something and don't want to unlock my screen every time to see the template
After all the popular "talking heads" videos about the Pixel 8 Pro in the past days, just repeating the same info, I have to say that this has been the most useful for me while waiting for my Pixel 8 Pro to arrive on Monday. As a Pixel phone user from day one on the Pixel 1 and through the various generations, my only criticism would be that quite a few of the features you mention are not specific to the latest Pixel model (now listening, etc). Great video. Only one that I couldn't find was the very last one. Ad topics was not available on the screen. I got as far as the Ads screen where Reset Advertising ID, Delete Advertising ID and Enable debug Logging for ads shows. But there was no option for "Ad topics"
I think it’s just as secure. If hackers can hack an iPhone, they could potentially hack them all, but with Android, because there are so many models, I think the odds are less likely… especially on Googles first party device
