And all he does is take a seat, and bow his head. No cursing or denials, no enraged last strike at the ones who took everything from him, not even any petty backtalk. Just a quiet moment of, "Well, I guess that's it then," as he lets himself go to dust.

I feel like the only reason he lost in this reality, was because of his change in his main objective.
The realities where Thanos won showed him as someone who was willing to sacrifice everything for a solution that he thought would save the universe. Even in his delusion his intentions were pure right up to the very end.
The one reality where he lost showed Thanos as someone hellbent for revenge after being showed that his grand plan would never work. Rather then focusing on what was best for the universe, he decided to completely erase everything and start over just to satisfy his own ego.

I love it. No dramatic last words. You can feel his defeat with just the body language alone. He was shocked, disappointed, and ultimately just sat down and accepted his fate. You would almost feel bad if he wasn’t the villain. It was kind of bittersweet though considering we literally spent three phases and 10 years waiting for the this character to make his move. The next big bad guy definitely has some BIG shoes to fill but I’m definitely curious.

As powerful as they were with Thor, Dr Strange, Wanda, and Captain Marvel; they couldn’t defeat him whilst he had a single infinity stone in his possession. Even without them, he was nearly victorious. Battered an bruised, yes, but he was a pretty formidable opponent. Only Wanda and Marvel closely matched him, whilst Thor was just swatted aside.
And Strange saw all of that. He knew they had to secure the stones, and he knew who had to die so they could win.
