Great videos Mike. I have been watching since you had about 20K followers. I retired 3 years ago at 44. I moved from the city to the country and love it. I built a house on my 5.5 acres in West Central Michigan. Your screaming fox video where you talked about owning land was the decision maker for me to do that. I have learned a lot from your channel. I now have a cab tractor and several attachments and love working around the property cutting wood etc. Your videos are very helpful and I appreciate the time you take to do it. You are a good man with a great family.

"Smells like Limestone" ... that whole area looks so much better with stone tracked in Mike, and the Skid Steer does a nice job of distributing it evenly ...more room, easier to move equipment and keep things stored/organized around the perimeter .... don't you wish you could bottle that energy that Archie has .... my 7 year old Bouvier still acts like an enthusiastic pup, makes me smile and inspires me to keep moving

Long time lurker - love your show. A bit of advice which you probably already know - cut logs in areas where you can gather the sawdust / shavings. Cutting over gravel will just allow spots for weed seed to land and germinate. Additionally, sawdust / shavings have tons of uses - especially when kept dry.

Back in 1964 we took a field trip to Wausau, Wi. There we went to the prefect Circle plant that made piston rings. I was amazed how much quality control there was in manufacturing of piston rings from raw material to boxing. For the times it was far ahead of the industry. It was located not far from where your Wolf River splitter was made. Seeing the mud flaps on Bluford brought back memories.

Use the tractor to tamp the stone down. instead of the skid steer. will take a little longer. but the wheel has more localized pressure then the skid steer tracks will. Will press the stone down more firmly.
You can use the skid steer to press the stone down if want to. But instead of just forward and back in one direction. Also go side to side. IE up and back, then turn 90 degrees then go up and back that way too.

Yeah I remember in the south when we did dirt work if we was in a hurry we would use water trucks to help pack the dirt, you need that moisture to help pack the dirt, I know when I built my house I let the dirt pad set for a year raining and drying, and it made for a good pad no movement when I built. Hey Mike, I know you do firewood business but it hurt to see such a beautiful log cut and split I don't think that little bit of a crack hurting that log at all by what I seen. Oh well like you said money in the bank. I can hardly wait to see you sawing some of those logs it's going to make for some beautiful lumber. See you in the next video

    Hi Mike,
I load a dump truck with stone or soil and drive up and down in reverse using the duel wheels as a roll, load up Blueford with shale and give it a try, it works fantastic in the yard at work and i find damp stone is much better than dry.
I will keep an eye on your video's to see if you try it.

Growing up we burnt wood exclusively for close to 12 years. We had a large red oak and Jack oak area we cut out of for probably 50% of our wood. The red oak is super straight grained and not a real tight growth ring. I used to split up to 8 foot long pieces up to about 8 inch diameter with just a couple swings of an are all the time let alone split the burn lengths like it was kindling. And like you said burns hot. But I always thought it dried pretty fast if it froze hard during the winter like maybe it freeze dried. Enjoy your videos a lot. Keep up the good work
