I just forwarded this to one of my friends with grandkids. He has several of these type toys. Eli was a good helper. ha
Got a good helper there. Good job Eli.
Good job dad, getting Ely wrenching on his 4 wheeler at a young age, I did the same with my son 25 years ago. He now has a 72 chevelle with a 468 bib block. Oh and great job on the conversion.
Thank you for watching! I love Chevelles!
Great Job! definitely going to do this for my little one.
What a smart kid
Thanks im wanting to do it for my son!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Throw on a power modulator to make sure you can control the speed for the little one’s skill! Cheap buy off amazon!
The meltdowns when the battery dies 8 minutes into use are epic lol
For sure. Lol. One of the best things about this type of conversion is my son can charge the battery and change the battery by himself.
Hi sir, my sons car has 4 motors on 4 wheels.... it’s a beast! It’s has 2 of the batteries yiu show in your video. I hope I explain this correctly but there’s a jumper from positive to negative between the two. Then there’s one negative going out and one positive going out. When it starts, I think the display shows 27-28V. Do I need two adapters and two dewalt batteries? Hook it up similar with a jumper between the adapters? We actually bought it from overseas, it’s not a hot wheels. It has leather seats, blue tooth, radio, lights......it’s amazing.
The batteries didn’t last a year.
That truck sounds awesome! If it has 2 batteries I believe it would take 2 Dewalt batteries and adapters.
I have a few questions/comments: 1. How long are you getting per charge? My old Dewalt 18v battery has a 6Ah rating which is half the Ah of my son's Peg Perego Gator (12v, 12Ah). But now I've seen multiple UA-cam videos saying the Milwaukee or Dewalt batteries last longer. I don't even mind if the run time isn't better if I'm getting quicker recharges and faster speeds. 2. Does the battery adapter have a circuit breaker built in? If not, where would you wire one in? (I realize you may not know but someone else reading this might). The breaker seems important given all the potential for jostling and moisture. 3. Another video showed adding a resistor as a way to lessen the torque on the gears caused by the starting/stopping with all that extra juice. They called is their ABS system. Not sure if this would be enough for a 14v increase like yours (I think they went from 12v to 18v which is what I am considering). 4. You're an awesome Dad, not just for the quad mod, but for including your son in the process and being so patient. *My* Eli has outgrown his ride-on but his little brother is more than happy to take over at the wheel now.
They dont last longer. maybe if they only drive around on low gear...
it's mostly RECHARGING TIME. I got a 12V converted
it to 24V..I bypass the Thernal FUSE simply by wraping 12 gauge wire around the fuse a couple of times and pressed it back into the slot.
The Peg Perego 550 motors are LONGER than Powerwheels.
You CANT use 24v on powerwheels..the motors and GEARs cant handle it.
I get kid's ride on cars for dirt cheap on F.B. ( have over 12)...I fix it for my grand
kids....The FASTEST so far..is the MOTION TRENDZ ATV on 24V..( the one with a
SPRING shock in the REAR. ( it has different bodies..but the chassis are the same)
it'll asborb the torque..i havnt had any problems
with it on 24V...4 -6 year old. driving it EVERYWHERE...Up hill on grass..ect
Everything is STOCK except 2-ea 12V lead acid around 12 mph 40-60Lb kids.
( I LET THEM DO it..becuase I got cars for only $5-$20-ea).
They can ride it for over an hour ( 9ah or 12ah). The batteries
and 24 chargers from RAZOR sooters ( I also get for cheap)
I'll also use an OLD 12V ( stupid) car battery charger..to balance the batteries
every so often...
I run 5s 18V LIPO...at 50C 5000 Mah ( it has more DISCHARGE than 18650 lion
at 20C...I get around 10-12 min tops..a pop. ( 8-10mph) The motors get hot.
I'll simply switch cars for the kids.lol
They ride mostly the ATV now....I can take them to the park without carrying
extra LIPO. ( 2-3 miles.lol)...I just have to charge it overnite for them.
Alot if it is...just Battery RECHARGING Managing ..I have lots of grand kids.
I invested in over $300 ( 5-sets of lipo and 4-ea lipo hobbie chargers).
THE BATTERIES and charger is where the money is at...Once you have
those...cars are cheap to get.
I have a 2 year old..she's on 5s LIPO on a corvett or lighting (powerwheels)...lmao..i had her on 4s on a smaller car 3 months ago.lol
She was barely stronge enough turn the wheels ( I had to chase her all the
time.lmao )..she can do power slide and drive like the rest of the kids now.
I did the samething for my grandson when he was 18 months...12v.
Some kids lear faster than others ...drive more agressive than other.lmao
OneEye Monster this is great. Thanks
It's been 2 years since the over volting from 6 to 20 VDC. Did it ever smoke the motor?
Smoked the motor in this one after about a year of hard use. We would recommend using a voltage regulator for this particular conversion.
@@experiencetheoutdoors4867 Doing the same to my kids tractor. I figure when the motor burns up I'll just buy another motor. Replacement motors are like 20 dollars on amazon.
Did you end up fixing it or throwing it away?
@@bluerider0988 I threw that out. It was really worn out.
Can u tell me where the gree wire connects to please.
Hi, how long do each of the dewalt lithium batteries last now? No problems with motor or gearbox? Can’t seem to find the light buddy either. Great job on the Atv!
how do you know when a power wheel has a board. I fried mine
I was curious if it burnt out the motor running higher voltage
I dont know how to message you. I did this with my sons off brand 4 wheeler and the gas stays on when I plug the batter in . What do I need to do to fix it ?
Will a 12-60v 6amp speed controller work for a bish 18v 4amp battery?
I'm not 100% sure.
Links to the parts?
Hi there
I’ve tried looking for that deluxe light buddy online and it doesn’t seem to exist or I just can’t find something like that. Do you mind sharing more on it???
I bought mine at a mom and pop store. I believe they are made by a guy that lives near me. He is Amish so I doubt that he has a website.
@@experiencetheoutdoors4867 I found some old photos in a search that were from a KC Innovations website and they had a Makita adapter, but that website no longer exists...
Yes I seen they have on Amazon , type in... Dewalt power wheels adaptor
Hello! We were just gifted an older Barbie 6v ATV. I have previously modded a 12v Barbie Jeep but I am wondering if I complete the same modification, if the 20v Dewalt is too much power. Can you confirm?
The 6 volt motor will smoke eventually but many 18v replacement motors out there.
So to charge the battery do you remove it from the light buddy and charge it, or just use the oem charger?
Great question. We remove the battery to charge it and we also keep several batteries charged so our son can just grab one and go.
@@experiencetheoutdoors4867 thanks!
What I want to know is how you didn't fry that 6v motor? I connected a 18v battery and it fried that motor in 20 minutes.
These toys have variable speed motors the running on different voltages for different speeds
I'm working on one now..I've learned that if you add the esc controller it'll help that little 6 volt motor out it helps controll how much power is actually being used
Hi we have a 6V John Deere Peg Perego, my son loves it, he drives around filling low spots in the lawn 😁 anyway. I've tried it with the 12V from our power wheels and it's so much better. But I'm concerned it may burn up the little motor. I've bought 6 more 6V batteries and even brand new they're terrible he gets 10 minutes out of it.
Did you have any trouble with running the higher voltage? I'm thinking about just batching all 6 of these as a 12V block..
No trouble yet, but time will tell.
If the motor blows out, buy a replacement 12v motor. Easy to put on!
Hey i need one for Milwaukee you know if they make it
Possibly. You might try to google it and see.
Did you find one? If so, got a link? Lol
Type on Amazon. Milwaukee power wheels adaptor
did you deactivate lighting?
because i think there's a problem when my lighting heats up for a couple of minutes and i smell a little burning. please help, thanks
The lighting is still functional on ours.
@@experiencetheoutdoors4867 Isn't it the lighting is designed for 12v only? so if you make higher voltage in battery, the lighting heats up/burns. did you changed its wiring from the stock set-up? hmmm.. i wonder why my lighting heats up and smells burnt a little.
I upgraded battery from 12v to 20v and put 30A fuse connected to positive terminal-battery.
I really appreciated your reply.
a Million Thanks..
I have a 12 volt fiat 500. What should I do to increase it to 18 or 24 volts? What should I change the battery only? Isn't it that the other components are burned ???
ho una fiat 500 a 12 volt. Cosa devo fare per incrementarla a 18 o 24volt? Cosa devo cambiare solo la batteria? Non è che si bruciano gli altri componenti ???
I'm not sure the exact condition of your Fiat, but we just converted the battery on the atv in the video and it worked great.
Where can I find the light buddy?
We purchased ours from an Amish store in South Central Ky. I have seen them on Amazon too. They might be called something different on Amazon.
@@experiencetheoutdoors4867 ok thanks
Yes you're right on Amazon. Dewalt Powerwheels adaptor
