Doesn’t matter if they cost a lot or play and sound wonderfully, they look cheap. More like a $300 guitar. Suhr will not be concerned and shouldn’t be...
You guys have no clue how refreshing this video is! Feels so fresh and new! I guess I speak for a lot of us here when I say we were getting a tad bit bored of Rob's playing, but man this video you guys just nailed it! Love from India!
I know you mean well and I personally take it that way - but Chappers is the perfect yin to the Captain's yang. I'm a huge fan and happy to watch and listen to him anytime.
I love the fact that all brand make this type of guitar. Superstrats were really good axes, they give you all that a guitar need and have (almost always) kind of equilibrium in all music genre
Best Rob has sounded in a long time in parts of this video. I stopped watching videos of Rob a good while back because of his tone and lack of creativity when it comes to playing but I was curious about these new Ibanez guitars and I was pleasantly surprised to hear something different. Lee's use of the whammy bar as well was great
Lack of creativity?? You try playing thousands of videos and coming up with something different every time. These are gear demos, not an artistic endeavor.
Michael Garcia yeah and Rob doesn't convince me to spend my money at all on anything he demos generally. He can't make anything sound good 99% of the time
I have just bought one, the Tequila one. Out of the box it is absolutely amazing...the finish is flawless and the pick ups sublime. Ibanez have really hit this out of the park.
Little known fact, the roasted necks on the AZ's are roasted in a vacuum chamber so that they can heat them much more without the wood burning in any way possible
I just got the Tim Henson signature on Saturday. Honestly, it feels amazing. I love all the features that come stock on the AZs, gotoh bridge and licking tuners, stainless steel frets with rolled edges, roasted maple neck, pearl headstock logo, luminlay side dots, gold hardware. I love it so much, it’s actually inspired me, it’s one of the best guitars I’ve ever played, probably only second to a petrucci model
The Tim henson model if I am correct is missing the coil split stuff and the hard case right? I think it also has a slightly lower spec bridge, but it also sells for a bit cheaper. Looks dope tho with the covered pickups. Hard choice to make. I went with the AZ2204B. I hope you are still enjoying the guitar. I usually hate buying signature models but the TH model is dope as it doesn’t have Tims signature or anything on it and just seems like a special edition guitar.
@@anupjsebastian it’s such a dope guitar. It doesn’t have an features that I’m lacking from what I currently own but I still want to get it just for the aesthetics
@Loren Jones Yeah, I still have it and still is fantastic. I also have the AZ2204N. And this also would be a good choice for what you are looking for. Both of these are great, and sit in between strats and superstrats. The B is a bit more high output and sits closer to superstrats and would do a bit better for higher gain lead and stuff, and the N sits closer to strats with lower output but more defined pickups for strattier stuff, but otherwise they are pretty similar. The Bs pickups breakup much sooner and I have to keep the knob at like 3 to stay clean and the volume boost is very dramatic, with a small increase. The Ns are more like a strat and the you have more room to work with and stays cleaner longer. (obviously this depends on your amp settings too, but I am talking with the same setting on the amp). Another difference is the B has a floating bridge with a cavity underneath, so you can do flutters and stuff, and the N comes with a trem locked to the body and has no cavity (like a strat). The springs are pretty tight stock too, so if you want it floating, it will need some adjustment. There are other differences too, like the fretboard, but yeah both are solid choices, depending on how far away from a strat you want to go. N also has a compound radius, but in practice doesn't really make much of a difference, both are equally as good to play. One thing I don't like are the tuners on both. They are locking but it is a hassle to change strings. I wish they went with standard locking tuners, but its an easy fix, as they swap straight out for standard Gotoh locking tuners.
@Loren Jones it’s nice to have but honestly I don’t really use it a whole lot. It does a mildly decent neck humbucker emulation tho, and it also has a Tele position with the neck and bridge-split active, which is nice.
@Loren Jones Now that is something that can be inconsistent regarding where you live, and how long the guitar was in storage, etc. Regardless of the price of guitar you get. If you can get it sent to you straight from the warehouse, there is a good chance it will be perfect, but shipping and weather changes can have its effect on the neck. With any guitar you should be prepared to make adjustments. Having said that, the B was pretty good out of the box, however, I made some small adjustments to it to suit my playing and got it even lower. The N had a neck crack on the finish when I received it from the dealer and Ibanez replaced the guitar under warranty, as I contacted them as soon as I had received it and inspected it. The action was pretty good as well, however the replacement I received straight from Ibanez was absolutely perfect. Only guitars I have tried that had better action out of the box were a Suhr Mateus Asato signature, and a Music Man cutlass BFR, which a friend of mine owns. I believe these are Pleked at the factory. However that being said, these were straight from the box from the factory as well. On other occasions I have tried the same guitars in stores and they were nowhere near as well setup as straight from the factory. In any case with a guitar of any price point, you should be prepared to make small adjustments from time to time, and if you switch string brands etc. The SS frets help massively in keeping a setup working well for a long time as they don't really wear out from my playing atleast. The roasted necks are also pretty stable. And so once you set it up to your liking it will stay that way for a very long time.
Top-freaking-notch playing there, Lee, hah. I absolutely enjoyed that, and especially the bit at 3:00 where Rob looks over in surprise, as if to make sure it's still you playing. Brilliant.
The AZ series sound & feel fantastic, and have amazing features - I think Ibanez have nailed it. Every single person whom I've talked to (who's had the opportunity to try them out) was blown away with how well crafted those were & how superb they sounded; a combination that's rather hard to find these days. Oh, and I do agree - they must be the most under-stated instruments, ever. Cheers!
Early 80s Ibanez guitars kick ass on a budget. I dig that logo. Cool guitars. They basically brought back the Roadstar II it looks like with a few improvements.
Oh yeah that Steve Lukathier model blue one with the maple finger board and one H in the bridge, man that's a sweet axe. You are right though, Im not paying that tag for an 80s Ibanez even though it looks sweet. You can get the other models from that era though from anything between 150-450 depending on which one and they are sweet high quality axes. Id just assume get one of those.
Lee mate, crikey! Your solo at about 2:40, i was listening and thinking ooft, Rob's a hell of a player. NOPE! It was you! Good on you Captain. Lovely to listen to.
I don’t understand the people that say they’re bored of Chappers’s playing. His style fits really well with Lee in that one shreds and one has the feels. It balances out quite well and shows a wider variety of what the guitars are capable of. Keep the great videos coming.
The Ibanez AZ Prestige guitars sound extremely AMAZING! Rich, well balanced, long sustain and a vocal like tone structure -- for me one of the best guitar sounds I've heard in this channel.
Two different types of videos I’d love to see - 1) Let viewers describe their home rigs (amp, guitar, cab, pedals etc.), choose two of them from the comments and shoot them out by comparing which one sounds best for home use (below 85db or something) and for also for gigging. I think that could be really helpful. 2) Less useful, but probably entertaining (more like a challenge) - Find two people who know nothing about guitar and get them to build a rig for each of you. Try to get the best sound from what you have to work with.
Gotta love the joy on Chappers face when Lee does that whammy bar frip, Chappers appreciating Lee's playing. This is the Chappers we love, chappers first and foremost is a guitarist who loves music. Chappers you made my day :)
@@KRSinDUB Yes absoluley its great! You can get it in different colours. Ibanez have som new AZ guitars with the same necs and specs. You can two humbuckers and a singelolycka. Iam looking at the 2407 F but its more expensive. I have tried some of them in the lokal musicstore and The are all great and I love mycket AZ!!!!
Those AZ Prestige seem to be amazing instruments, and Captain's playing is so tasteful, it would appear he's been into Jeff Beck and Andy Timmons recently ;)
I've been watching you guys over the last couple of years and I can really tell that Lee has become a much more versatile player! Keep it up Blues Captain Lee!
Hey guys any chance of a demo in any of the Ibanez art core series it would be cool to hear the thoughts on Ibanez hollow bodies compared to epiphone gretch and Gibson Would be an awesome vid for lee and danish Pete
lees playing has improved so much since i started watching these guys a few years ago. not that he was bad before, but hes definitely got some chops on him nowadays.
11.25 "Holy mother of Moses..." yes indeed! Fabulous tones. Ibanez guitars in my not inconsiderable playing experience have always provided a quality result in terms of playability, durability and value for money. I don't mind the Suhr comparisons at all. Great review/overview guys!
lol, Ibanez's attempt... they were doing it in the early 90s. The torrified/baked maple is new but where do you think Suhr and others got their inspiration? Just look at the Ibanez RX and AT series.
Suhr has been doing this since like 1980, at the Rudy Pensa shop. Same with Anderson and those are the inspiration behind the RT and AT (And Pacificas) series in the 90s,
I have been playing the same Ibanez RG since '99. For everything that they aren't, it still does most stuff pretty well. Really digging the AZ series, as Rob was playing all I could think of was old school strat tone, like SRV Little Wing. Was hard for my brain to believe my ears were hearing Ibanez
Been waiting for this video for ages, but GOOD GOD guys, can you PLEASE mix your voice-overs and playing at a similar level? I shouldn't have to crank the volume to hear you talk about the guitar and then piss off my neighbours as soon as one of you starts playing.
I know, all the guitar channels are are into the 'psycho-acoustics' hype, and that we'll think the guitar playing is better if it's louder than the dialogue - it's not true! It's just annoying!
Seriously, I have a lot of love for Rob and Lee and their channels, and if there's a pair of UA-camrs I'd give away one of my kidneys to meet in the flesh, it's them, but I gotta call them out on this. It makes these videos hard to watch.
I have to agree. I have few actual complaints about Andertons TV. But maybe you guys could use lavaliers or headsets to talk instead of the room mic. I want to hear what you have to say but the guitars are so much louder
Erin Kenny, they have lavaliers in this video, and most videos in the last couple years, and even go out of their way to tell you when they don't or they're not working. I think they either need to just take down the volume of the guitars or raise the volume of the mics at whatever DAW they're using to fix it. Honestly, it shouldn't be *that* hard. Boo5552, do you mean something meaningful like responding to comments I don't like on UA-cam? :P
They sound unreal! Used to play a lot of Ibanez about 10 years ago but kind of jumped ship more towards charvel..which I still love especially their 2018 dinky's. Now I am torn between a charvel dinky (shell pink) and one of these!
Can everybody shup up about rob's playing... we all get stuck in a rut, eventually. And these video sare not here for him to display his evolution as a guitarist anyway.
I assume it's for him to help sell guitars considering who they are sponsored by and where they record. But seriously stuck in a rut to sell to the masses with him 100% of the time.
it ain't about Rob being stuck in a rut. It's about him not demo'ing the guitars in a way that you can actually get an idea if you want to take the time to run to a guitar store and try it out for yourself or not. Widdlywiddlysquealywiddlywoowoo doesn't let you hear squat. A smattering of hard pick attacks, loose grip picking, hybrid picking (which Rob usually does pretty well btw) finger picking, comping fat chords, spanking some triads, etc etc. would be nice. Along with nice clean tones for a change.
Richard Littlewood not seen that. It seems there's been a lot of stuff on other sites wasn't sure if it had started. I couldn't believe they weren't going. But Gibson aren't so how knows!!!
As someone lusting after a Suhr or a Charvel Guthrie Govan sig but without the dollar to commit, the premium versions of these are a prayer answered. Also love that they’ve gone HSS, single coils in the neck are the way forward.
Upload that jam unedited in a seperate video, PLEASE! I really like this new series, especially the guitar Lee's playing. Shame I have no money and desperately need a bigger amp
I don't know, Guthrie goes for around 3200 €, this is around 2000 €....still a quite reasonable price gap to consider these. I love the looks of the new AZ range, kind super strat-ish (well, what Suhr have been doing for ages now) but not too modern. I need to try them and if they come somewhat close to Charvel, it's a no-brainer for me :) But I understand your opinion.
This is the specs every Fender guitar should have had years ago. And that 24 fret guitar sounds better than any Suhr Modern I've ever heard. I don't like the colors though.
RicardoDiazHimself I love Suhr guitars...but I honestly thought the clean sounds of these guitars sounded better than any Suhr Modern I've ever heard. In my opinion, 24 fret guitars have a very specific and generic clean sound that I personally hate. But these guitars for some reason seem to have a clean sound that almost sounds like a 22 fret guitar. (Guthrie Govan playing a Suhr Modern is the exception though. But he can make any guitar sound amazing...)
My modern neck pickup sounds as warm, round, and pleasing as my custom 22 fret Std from Suhr too. Actually sounds warmer than my 22 frets Ibanez. But i recognize its those SD pickups fault, as all the specs for the AZ series should provide a Suhr-like openness and warmth. These pickups do sound generic to cover a wide ground.
RicardoDiazHimself I won't argue with you, as you seem to have much more first hand experience than me. I've tried a couple, but I've never owned a Suhr guitar, although I've dreamed of owning one for over a decade. I'm a huge admirer of their guitars. I've never liked the sound of Ibanez guitars (except when Andy Timmons and Steve Vai play them), but I think the AZ series sound great. At least from what I've heard on UA-cam.
Everybody is sick. We need to get them to a hospital.... what is it doctor??.... Its a big place where sick people get better but thats not important right now.
All joking aside this is one of the weakest andertons reviews ive seen from cap and chap- they knew nothing about the product. These guitars have so much tone, i mean if youve ever played one youll know what i mean, the hyperions pickups are amazing on their own account. Also the mx switch for coil tapping and baked maple necks, the fact that lee and chap didnt know about baked maple and stability through different humidities - just shows they did t do their homework on the product. All they wanted to talk about was the look. Cap you squandered a great opportunity to talk about a really sick guitar. Ss frets come stock on baked maple with all the coil tapping modes, but you go to the head stock? Come on guys.
Right let me start off by saying Rob is great but can you please Lee get some different demonstrators on occasionally. Rob's shredding gets boring very quickly and thats coming form someone who likes metal\hard rock. Please, please can we have Danish Pete on more. He's way more versatile. Sorry Rob.
Ooooh these look and sound great! But they're the same price as a used mint Suhr anyway 🤫. Still, great guitars by Ibanez. Glad to see them finally do a Prestige guitar that attracts someone else other than a shredder
Holy shit Lee with some impressive playing
*HoLee shit*

Doesn’t matter if they cost a lot or play and sound wonderfully, they look cheap. More like a $300 guitar. Suhr will not be concerned and shouldn’t be...
I think his play keeps getting better and better.
12:45 did Lee say 'OD-1, then Tumnus on top...' as in a Boss OD-1???
Ibanez's response:
I am serious, and don't call me Suhr, Lee
Is this an "airplane" reference?
notarealperson87 I feel proud for getting the airplane reference
@@TheRealCowlick yes!!
3 years late to the party. I love airplane references😄 Me: Sorry, I’m a bit nervous. Ibanez: first time? Me: No, I’ve been nervous lots of times.

Need to see that RG in the hands of Joss!
Really tasty playing from Rob and Lee in this one. I could tell that they "connected" to the prestige models and played with inspiration.
Finally a prestige with SS frets, now if they’d only put them on RGs! Not even the Jcustom RG is listed with SS frets.
Joe Heisler yep even schecter now put stainless on there banshee and sls elite range..
30th anniversary RG6PCM is a premium with stainless frets... since 2017 Namm ;)
lees playing has improved so much since i started watching these guys a few years ago. not that he was bad before, but hes definitely got some chops on him nowadays.
Indonesia is the new China.

11.25 "Holy mother of Moses..." yes indeed! Fabulous tones. Ibanez guitars in my not inconsiderable playing experience have always provided a quality result in terms of playability, durability and value for money. I don't mind the Suhr comparisons at all. Great review/overview guys!
2019 Ibanez AZ please!!
best I`ve seen you compliment one another, Lee`s best playing yet! thankyou!
lol, Ibanez's attempt... they were doing it in the early 90s. The torrified/baked maple is new but where do you think Suhr and others got their inspiration? Just look at the Ibanez RX and AT series.
Suhr has been doing this since like 1980, at the Rudy Pensa shop. Same with Anderson and those are the inspiration behind the RT and AT (And Pacificas) series in the 90s,
I enjoy watching you guys even when im not interested in the type of guitar youre playing!
Maybe we should get Fluff over here. I'm sure he would love the blackstar tones Lee!;)
Got an RG550 last year, it's loads of fun! Brand new on sale for $799, arguably the best guitar deal in the history of all y'all's countries.
"You mean the Yamaha Pacifica" :) :) :) :) That was my first thought. Although not a bad thing, but still looks that way.
Chris Franklyn Word. Pacifica is extremely underrated.
I'm holding one in my profile pic :) (Albeit it an ancient T shape one)
There are actually high end Pacificas too, Simon Smith has one on his channel.
The T-type Pacificas are just about my favorite tele-esque shape.
Yup, suhr took that pacifica look and gave it 24 frets and a gotoh bridge, now ibanez took it too.
"Suhrly You Can't Be Serious" LOL seriously.
Robs face when Lee get's that little whammy bar line out at the 3 minute mark is priceless haha! Yes then Lee!!
Travis Lausch find something meaningful to care about
I have to agree.
Ibanez killing it as ever. Them RGs look old skool as fudge. PLEASE can you do a 2018 Gio rundown? Some absolute gems in that line
I kinda liked that sunburst one rob was playing.
They sound unreal! Used to play a lot of Ibanez about 10 years ago but kind of jumped ship more towards charvel..which I still love especially their 2018 dinky's. Now I am torn between a charvel dinky (shell pink) and one of these!
@18:46 "...marginally not as nice to play.." - hmm, now isn't that a shout out for a blindfold challenge, if I ever heard one.. :-)
These AZ Prestige models look amazing. Need to play one.
I second the clean tones suggestion .
That's the reason why the captain is here, to offer a different approach, a different feel to the demo. Seriously, you make me laugh boys...
Except that Lee doesn't demo the same guitars that Rob does. Why don't you actually read what I wrote and see if you can understand the point.
Hands down best tones and playing in a long time. Fantastic
3:05 is what I’m here for.
I’m falling in love with these guitars
Are andertons going to Namm this year?
Darren C It says on the website they are and taking a big team too so should be plenty of videos :)
Do fish swim?;)
Richard Littlewood not seen that. It seems there's been a lot of stuff on other sites wasn't sure if it had started. I couldn't believe they weren't going. But Gibson aren't so how knows!!!
I wish someone could tell me about Robs setup at the very beginning. That tone was sick. Best Rob ever sounded.
1:55 I was thinking of The pretender not sesame street haha.
ElysiumAFL “WHAT IF I SAY IM NOT LIKE THE OTHERS”
Haha =D
As someone lusting after a Suhr or a Charvel Guthrie Govan sig but without the dollar to commit, the premium versions of these are a prayer answered. Also love that they’ve gone HSS, single coils in the neck are the way forward.
Oh yes, classic RG550 is so pretty and nice! Oh, and cheap!
Upload that jam unedited in a seperate video, PLEASE! I really like this new series, especially the guitar Lee's playing. Shame I have no money and desperately need a bigger amp
At nearly 2k, you'd be mad not to get the guthrie charvel instead.
ohyeahtotally08 except Guthrie's sig retails for around £3.5k
Yeaaa its fucking insane how expensive this is it looks really cheap honestly
deathbastardable Really that much? My bad.
The specs on them suck compared to this..
i have never heard lee play this good. wow was actually really good
This is the specs every Fender guitar should have had years ago. And that 24 fret guitar sounds better than any Suhr Modern I've ever heard. I don't like the colors though.
not really, tho. I'll grab any Modern before these. Those SD pickups dont really sing
Yes, indeed they look and probably are amazing. I would just change the pickups, lol. They do sound kinda lifeless, even when played by Tom Quayle
That Tequila Sunrise colour's simply amazing!
I am serious, and don't call me Suhrly.
Everybody is sick. We need to get them to a hospital.... what is it doctor??.... Its a big place where sick people get better but thats not important right now.
HAHAHA yes!! \m/
you beat me to it! Airplane still is funny as heck
I am addicted to these vids btw! And it is inspiring me to pick up both my guitar and bass again, so thank you!! 🙌🏼🤘🏻
That pricetag though suhrly you must be joking
fazeel ashraf I'm not joking... And stop calling me Suhrly.
They need entry level AZ models for sure.
The Prestige is the same price as an American Elite strat but with better specs. I'd take the Ibanez
thank you.
Prestige line is built at a level for players willing to spend that amount. They’re worth it if you have the money available.
I am a sucker for Marshall tone, and I truly have to say this is the best I heard Rob sound since the first video I watched 3-4 years ago!
I'm feeling Lee's solo almost as much as he felt it. Good gosh, that whammy mastery though.
Right let me start off by saying Rob is great but can you please Lee get some different demonstrators on occasionally. Rob's shredding gets boring very quickly and thats coming form someone who likes metal\hard rock. Please, please can we have Danish Pete on more. He's way more versatile. Sorry Rob.
Good Lord Lee's jam at 2:50 was something else. Clearly it spoke to him. Not sure which I loved more, the trem use or Ron's reaction to it!
For the price tag... why wouldnt you just buy a suhr...
Are you serious?
AJ Ajoya no im dukebox69...
Are you suhrious?
Because it has better specs thats why and cheaper over 3k vs just under 2k with better hardware..
Every time Rob plays that shreddy-leady solo improv, it reminds me of Top Gear's intro for some reason
Ooooh these look and sound great! But they're the same price as a used mint Suhr anyway 🤫. Still, great guitars by Ibanez. Glad to see them finally do a Prestige guitar that attracts someone else other than a shredder
Actually, only one is over £2k. These are great for the price. I stand corrected!
That chord progression reminds me a lot of Fuel - Innocent. Sounds great
