They didn't even consider looking at anything Gibson, or Fender... and not anything even slightly aged or "relic'd".... and the big guys wonder why they're not capturing the younger audience... helps to listen!
Fender does a better job than Gibson with attracting younger artists. I'd make the argument that Gibson is the Harley Davidson of Guitars. Yesterday's tech with tomorrow's prices.
Gibson must be running out of boomers to buy their wares like Harley did (resulting in their release of the Street), and now, through Epiphone, they've put out the Inspired By Gibson line with the real headstock shape and top quality, but for a dumb premium price that still can't compete with other companies.
@fallenstard I dont understand why they don't just listen to their target audience.... go ask them what they want... and give them that thing.... it's really that simple lol
Andertons is my local music store and I watch loads of local bands. 95% of guitarists and bassists play Fender. The exception would be metal bands. But you can go see any local band or open mic and it’s a sure bet that if the guitarist is under 30 they’ll be playing a tele.
Man this was amazing, Both of them are primed to be amazing musicians. What I really loved is Lee's attitude in the video. Not patronizing but actually talking to them as friends!! Good man!
One of the best Andertons videos....Ever! I saw the first video with these 2 smashing kids playing Eastcoast guitars, which was great, but this is even better. Well done to Lee to let them run wild in the shop and choose their ideal rigs. I also totally agree with both of them about relict guitars, to quote the young lady.....'If you love something, you should look after it' ❤
Little bit jealous! I worked for months minimum wage after school when I was 15 for a Gibson Flying V. I almost had the money saved up when Xmas came around and I asked my parents for the rest of the money but they thought it was a waste. I had to wait until February. Still the best $600 I ever spent!
These kids are the best. Well done kids!!! Love the kids' stance on "Relic" guitars, even though I prefer a little roughed up look for mine :) It's nice to hear kids even thinking about taking care of something. Well done to the parents for that.
Hey Captain, I want to thank you for all your hard work that you put into making the vids!! I love watching them and my wife watches them with me!! We live in Hayesville North Carolina,USA. I’m hoping to visit the UK within the next two years? I have ALWAYS been fascinated with history, not just of my country but yours too!! I have already told my wife that I HAVE TO VISIT Andertons!! I have been in the music industry since I was 15 and I’m 49 now so I’m familiar with the inner workings of a music store. I used to work at our local music store/recording studio. I have always looked forward to visiting the UK and by Gods grace I am able to plan my trip. To give you an idea where I live, I live about 4-4.5 hours southeast from Nashville and the Gibson guitar factory, and about 2hrs northwest of Atlanta Ga. I can’t express my gratitude for the videos!! I always refer to them as a good source of info for my purchases. I hope to get a XL Andertons t-shirt that I can wear around and advertise for you guys!! So I will be buying myself some apparel lol. Listen, I wish you and all the Andertons family a safe and blessed New Year’s!! MayGod bless you and keep you safe
Esperanza Spalding is a very cool influence. She plays a lot of jazz so, of course, Lee has not heard of her. Jazz is an Anderton's blind spot. Those kids are adorable and already accomplished players. Cheers.
I agree! Love Esperanza Spalding, and jazz is definitely a blind spot for Andertons! Lovely to see young people being endorsed and given room to share their talent with us on this channel.
Hi, 44yo child checking in, and I hate relic'ing too... Happy to fly to the UK for your next installment for my dream guitar. (These kids are wonderful, great idea for a video - Cheers from the US)
Are these kids Filipino in some way? Their names are so connected to our language! How lucky they are to have the chance to visit the legendary Andertons-wow!
Our mother is a Filipina. We are hoping to have some shows in the Philippines soon. Hopefully we will have more followers by then 🇵🇭. We are so lucky to live walking distance away from Andertons all of the staff are great and they have been so helpful on our journey
@@marikitrocks Wow, that's amazing to hear. I'm sure many of us would love to see your shows when the time comes. And living so close to Andertons? That's such an incredible blessing, especially with such a supportive team around you. Wishing you all the success in your journey. I’ll definitely be cheering for you.. 🤘
Lee this was cool of you. Even adults would love to have this opportunity. Nice that you did it for kids. Also, giving them plugs for their channels was cool.
Im 19 and Brian Setzer is my idol, I clicked and hoped there was a Brian Setzer Gretsch, that magenta sparkle is insane. You even started about him. He’s insanely good
Im 46 and I'm not a fan of road worn gear either. Im also a Gibson and Marshall fan. I was rasied up in church. I love God the Farther and Jesus. Yet I like rock music mostly. At church 99% had Fender gear. So most Fender's don't give me a WOW I want that guitar and amplifier. Where Gibson and Marshall does have the WOW factor to me. Good video, great to see young people really into playing music.
What fun! I can’t wait to get my granddaughter (3) started on her journey, if that’s something she wants for herself in another year or two! Pink or purple, please.
mockingbird and soldano is a fantastic choice. a mockingbird has always been my dream guitar, specifically one with a reverse headstock and a hardtail bridge.
WONDERFUL ! Helping kids get access to good instruments. There are lots of people, like me, who gave to other children the 1st instruments that they once gave to their own children ... sometimes via a school. Quite some of the very affordable 1st instruments are still very good instruments after giving them a little attention (neck adjustment, a new set of strings). They could be given to children who want to learn music via organizations helping families in need.
This is where I got my Yamaha PortableGrand DGX-670 Piano from on the 29th September 2022… and now, surprisingly, 2 years later… we are in the same band! The world gets smaller by the second!
The Monkees made my parents get me a Hep Cat Tele looking thing. I slept with it and dreamed of Silvertones in the Simpsons Sears catalogue. 1966 was no 2024 for gear choice. This was awesome.
There needs to be a lot more of this in the world for musicians Lee I know you got resources more than a lot of us and it's up to you guys to keep the kids interested in music give away guitars, give away lessons, build rehearsal spaces for bands (huge issue) and maybe find a way to not make it cost 600 a month lol. (That parts tough) but there should be some kind of scholarship program that could help pay for these kinds of things and if there's not we need to push for that too. The arts are fading in favor of computer operators and i fear for a world with no musical expression made from raw instruments and people coming together. Cheers mate!
I got to do something like this when I was about 14. My music teacher at school was close friends with Doug of Blackmachine Guitars fame. During a summer school they both brought in Mesa Triple Rec and Peavey 5150 half stacks and a host of Blackmachine guitars. Needless to say all it did was make me more addicted to everything guitar related and permanently damage my bank account.
Well done kids for saying relic'ed guitars are 'wrong' :D ........I'm ancient (68) and totally agree with you!. Only a fool would pay extra for a smashed up expensive guitar.
Yep. You wouldn’t do it with a car or anything else. “Here’s your new Tesla, we’d like another £10,000 to have Jimmy take a hammer and a belt sander to it”
Marikit is absolutely right. Deliberately beating instruments up to make them look old (vintage) is rather silly. And for people to pay a premium price for such instruments is even crazier.
It’s not about them just looking vintage. It’s about it feeling and playing like a well gigged guitar. I own a vintage guitar from the 70s-80s as well as fender Rhodes. So I understand people wanting their gear to feel like mine. Who has thousands or years to wait. Stop judging others man.
Talk to her in 10-20 years and a lot of her opinions about everything especially looks and taste might be very different, I know that’s the case got me and most people I know
It's still only an opinion. And it's just as valid as the opposite view. Personally, I love the looks of a well used guitar, I own 70s and 80s Les Pauls and love the battle scars they have. But above all, I love the feel of those used guitars. Relicing might seem weird at first, but I do understand why people like it. Just like I understand how people love their instruments to look as pristine as possible. There is no right or wrong.
This is an awesome premise for a long-term video series. Andertons could (should) sponsor groups of kids like this, and encourage them to take up an instrument, and start a band, etc....Maybe some sort of "junior rockers club" where members get exclusive discounts on beginner's equipment, free quick format lessons (15 minutes) and like a free set, or 5 GBP off a set of guitar strings once a month... And all for kids 18 and younger...And possibly, with parental permission, a chronicle of their progress on video. without the next generation of musicians, what does the world have left?
Absolutely love this episode... really talented peeps! Be great to see more videos like this, hosting the upcoming local musical talent! Oh and agree with her. I don't like relic guitars that's not from genuine wear and tear 😛

Yeah and 25 yo that looks 50
Is the 29 Yr old called JoEy by chance lol
If you need two guys i happen to be 29 as well😅

Oh and the most popular bass is a Jazz, although Marcus Millers are very popular too (and amazing value).
15 year old bass player, "Yeah, I'm in three bands." That sounds about right.

How about some kids who actually need some financial support. These guys reek of the private school aura that opens doors for them with ease.
"I give up..." .... "As you should!"... LOVE IT 😂😂 She's awsome! Great fun guys & great playing all round. 😎

A flying V costs like 2.5k. How did u get it so cheap?
@sarah_mcuHomie is about 70 now, and it equates to the same money, with inflation.
Lee presented this video so well!
Wow, had I been given that experience when I was 16 I don't think I would ever have left the shop! Rock on people!
I love that he picked that Mockingbird like a boss.
It’s an amazing instrument 🎸 Love it

That's what a 25,000 pound a year private education get you in the UK. The encouragement and facilities to excel.
That ending about the relic guitars is so funny 🤣🤣🤣 I think Gibson should start selling ones with "factory made" neck repairs 😊
