    Shane, I really appreciate you doing these types of self defense videos. I have trained in a couple different martial arts and love the fact that you tell people to use the knife hand when performing the rear naked choke. The knife hand behind the neck is much more effective than simply cupping the back of the head. I wish everyone would watch your videos so people know how to defend themselves

    6. Trap and roll mount escape; 7. Headlock escapes : a) standing b) side headlock on the ground; 8. Side mount shrimp escape (guard recovery); 9. Guard punch block defense; 10. Base get-up

    Def don't throw front kicks for self defense if you haven't practiced it. You're really just opening yourself up to have your leg grabbed if you don't know what you're doing

    Shane, this video is great, I'll use it to my advantage, thanks for the helpful tips. Although, do you mind if you take a recommendation for the next video? I reckon it would be great if you'd do " 5/10 Ways To Counter Wrestling Moves or Tackles " since street fighting kids usually do those ones, so it'd be pretty helpful to know what to do in the situation.

  • @Shiro46AV

    Nice tip practicing that choke on your knee. I'm sure you already know this, but you can spin someone around into that chokehold with your hands on their shoulders turning them around into it and once you have them in the choke you can bend their body outwards away from you to make them even more uncomfortable and so that they cannot reach you with elbows to the ribs, or anything else.

    • @iamrebbie6226
      @iamrebbie6226 7 років тому +1

      +Joseph Furnival yes you can hit his groin, stomp feet, gouge the eye but that is after you pluck his arm to create space between your neck... it's important that you can get away from his choke first before making some other counter attack..

    • @IDCodeNr1
      @IDCodeNr1 7 років тому +1

      once you are in a rear naked choke (or actually any other) you have around 7 seconds before you get unconscious, you will barely have time to stomp or kick and if you miss or dedicate too much time and effort without result you will go down, so the best way is to avoid getting into one and that is like the others said

    Once I won a randori fight against a blue belt with an improvised technique that was basically a combination of the leg thing you showed in the 4th Clip, only that the other one (The Uke) was the other way around, and the choking technique from the last one. Both are very effective but combined... We also call this takedown you showed a sickle-throw. You can make it even more effective by pushing the other Person back five to ten centimeters after you closed in on them to throw them of Balance before you swipe away their leg.

    What do you do when someone is laying sideways on you? I know this sounds weird, but it has happened tone before. At summer camp I got in a fight with an overweight boy, and I was doing fine until I fell. That's when we started wrestling. After awhile he just layed on my stomach sideways. I managed to roll him off but my head got squashed in the process. What should I do next time this happens?

    Shouldn't you get your lower hand further inside on that rear naked choke? Like elbow-under-chin deep? I'm just a whitebelt, but my BJJ coach told me not to choke people with the forearm, as it's easier to break and also more of a windpipe choke than a vascular one.

    Hey Shane I know you that you are more of a striker than a Jiu Jitsu specialist, so I hope no offense is taken but the grip with the guillotine is off. It needs to be more of a gable grip than a finger grip which is where you grab your hands with fingers opposing one another. Also with the ground guillotine it's deeper if you rotate your shoulder towards your hips rather than away from them. Love your vids man!

    Hi Shane, I've been wanting to ask you a question for a long time.I have this bully in school and I've told teachers parents and so on,they didn't help.I told my dad and he said once I told,if they don't stop the bully,for me to hit him in the nose if he touches me again. I can't build up my confidence, strategy?

    Do you not curl your fingers in palm strikes to reduce the risk of breaking/ spraining them?

    You can also break your fingers and wrists with palm strikes. Just wrap your hands or grapple if you really don't want to break your fingers or knuckles
