Oh my god so innovative. I will try this technique definitely. I always crave for puttu though I never got a chance to taste it yet but I enjoy watching puttu on UA-cam videos.
Hi! I have a questions about Puttu, specifically regarding kue putu. Kue putu is an Indonesian and Malaysian adaptation of puttu and I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to make it at home! It uses bamboo cylinder containers to steam the flour which is filled with a palm sugar mixture. Do you have any suggestions for how I might recreate this childhood dessert at home? I live in Boston, MA in America and I can't find any tools to recreate it. I wonder if a puttu maker could be used to recreate the dish. If so do you have any puttu maker recommendations so I could give it a shot? Any help is much appreciated! Love the channel and the blog!
Hi Jared! Wow, Kue Putu sounds so tasty! I’ll have to make it one day. After watching how it’s made, it definitely seems like a puttu maker could work. I’d be curious if the bamboo adds to the flavor vs the stainless steel, but my guess is it would be subtle. I got my puttu maker on amazon or I am sure a local Indian store would sell them, too. Here’s one option: www.amazon.com/Tabakh-Micro-Cooker-Stainless-Steamer/dp/B0115FTSCY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=puttu+maker&qid=1609645379&sprefix=puttu+&sr=8-3 Hope this helps!
