Hi, I am from the Czech Republic... greetings to all of you guys... :- In my country we insert some strawberries or plumbs or other kinds of fruit, we boil it for about cca 5 minutes and when they go up (we put them in deep pot with water), they are ready... we sprinkle with some cinnamon, but some sugar and butter and it's ready... you can try :-)
That sounds amazing. I’ve always wanted to visit your country. I’ve been to every state in US. I doubt I will ever travel internationally now. But I am going to make these. Thank you
Hey Helly! I just tried this new dough recipe… instead of using water I put in tea. You have taught me so much! I made a pancake i to something Mexican.
I recently tried water rolls baked fresh at my local grocery store and they are some of the best rolls I have ever had! Went back two other times and they are sold out. Might try this recipe myself. These are the rolls I want for thanksgiving dinner
Instead of water, fill pan 1cm high with milk, 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 tablespoon of sugar, put the dough into the pan, cover with a lid an cook for 20min at medium-high heat on top of the oven or 20mins at 175°C in the oven, until the milk has evaporated and became caramel because of the sugar. Serve with cinnamon+sugar and melted butter or hot vanilla cream. Delicious!
How big is the pan you're using when you add 1cm height of water? That will affect the actual quantity a lot. For example, a 20cm pan will have 314ml milk, whereas a 30cm pan will have 707ml (almost double the amount).
@@andrewsparkes6275I do not use any water! The size depends on the amount of dough. I normally use a 26cm pan for 6-8 parts of dough. Just fill the pan with max. 1cm with milk, add butter and sugar.
@@stephanberger7455 I meant milk (typed water by accident)..the point is the size of the pan greatly affects the amount of liquid. 1cm of milk in a 30cm diameter pan is twice as much milk as 1cm of milk in a 20cm pan. So for a 20cm pan, your recipe reads: 314ml milk, 2 tblsp butter, 1 tblsp sugar. And for a 30cm pan, your recipe reads: 707ml milk, 2 tblsp butter, 1 tblsp sugar. Which are wildly different recipes with massively different ratios of milk to butter and sugar. If you use a bigger pan for more dough or a smaller pan for less, surely you also need to add more or less butter and sugar too?
@@andrewsparkes6275What I wrote was the amounts for 6-8 parts of dough (based on 500g flour) and a 26cm pan. For more or less parts of dough you have to use more or less butter/sugar. But the exact amount of both isn't so important (I would use a little bit more than less). Try it and you will get a feeling for it. More important is the cooking time: 20-25min, then check if the dough is well done.
We call them Dampfnudeln (Steam-Nodoles) or Germknödel (Yeast-Dumplings). But we use much less water with milk and sugar in it and cover the pan for steam. Then we hav caramel on the bottom. Then we serve it with vanillasauce. Very good!
We make it different. Less water but add salt and cover. Don’t remove cover until you smell it’s browning. The water will evaporate and leave a beautiful salty crispy bottom. We eat this on Fat Tuesday with soup. Delicious! The same dough can be used for doughnuts with sugar and cinnamon! For dessert.
This reminds me of the teqnique used for making bagels. If you add two or three teaspoons of barley malt to the boiling water, the outside will be shiny.
If you skip the boiling step, then once on the baking sheet, if you slightly poke an indentation in the center with your fingers (not a hole) then brush with a mixture of caramelized onions and poppy seeds you have Bialys. 😋
I used to take my leftover bread dough and roll it into balls like that and put it into the deep fryer. Take them out, dip them in icing sugar or spread them with jam or peanut butter. Delicious.
I was wondering that everybodys day starts with food and what better than to eat Chinese bread. Besides Turkish and Arab bread. I liked Yeami bread, too. Thankyou Helly for sharing the Yeammi bread recipe with us. Stay blessed and keep cooking. Bon appetite
14 th centuary used in Cracow Poland as part of lent baked with out animal fat , nor milk ( ofcourse no yeast was known) dipping in boil water maked the dough lighter and shiny . Jews used it slighty differnt shape bagel .
Yes! This is the way that New York style bagels (water bagels) are made! 😋 You've inspired me to not form them into bagel/donut-shape next time I make them. So much easier!
The music at the beginning reminds me of the Charlie Brown Cartoons...love it. Very cool video, recipe & demonstration. Definitely requires some patience to make these but seems worth it. Thank you.
This is interesting to me because I’ve been looking for a bread bowl recipe and it seems to me that the boiling in water prior to baking would make the dough softer inside at the same time helping the outside crust to be stronger so it might hold up better once I place the soup in it?? Am I right to assume this idea? Ty for the recipe!! Im from the USA sending blessings to all
Of course I’d have to double the recipe to make bread bowls, one concern I have is the cooking temperature and time it will take for larger sections??! Any ideas on this would be appreciated and helpful

This is my first time to hear about boil a dough. Sounds so crazy to me😁😍

Besides Bagles.
When my cousins from Zlin CZ come to Texas they want their dumplings. . Just no baking...I think baking adds alot. The Moravian Kolaches is so tasty.

I made these three times already in one week they are super delicious

This looks so good and I can make this vegan easily. I never tried boiling bread (I haven't made bagels either). Your bowl and spoon are pretty!

change it to vinegar and you got yourself pretzel bread rather then bagels

Thank u
My Polish Grandpa was from Bialystock & we boiled them before baking with the onion topping. YUM!
Us Indians poke the centre as well. It makes the dough so soft.
@Maryellen Hoscila My family is (was) also from Bialystok!!

If possible, post the results. I'm really interested in making these bagel style for sandwiches/burgers.
yuck; bagel are the worst dough product, anything else will be better, except that flat bread without yeast.
