He makes me think of things I already know but never considered the significance of.
He calls out exactly how we’re failing and why, how movements for social change get sabotaged and co-opted.
I don’t get why more people can’t accept what he says about how you can vote for neoliberals like Biden whenever the alternative is worse, but still not pretend to like it; be honest about how awful they are

Abe I go a little further. I love Dr. West and revere the man, but voting for Biden when he is aware of what Biden has done and is capable of doing is pulling a Bernie- choosing belonging over revolution. Every single last one of our still-breathing wise men and media figures should be doing what Chris Hedges is doing, and yelling about the Greens. The economic bill of rights including singlepayer M4A is On. The. Ballot. To ignore that under any circumstances you might as well disenfranchise yourself right now, and to do that under covid and increasing violence to blacks and their allies, you might as well sign your own death warrant. Between 100M and 120M voting-age Americans sat out 2016. If the Greens could reach them, neither old rapist would stand a chance.

@@vegahimsa I agree it's good to have differing viewpoints. Is he right to call out Bernie for bending the knee? Absolutely. I do think Jimmy Dore was over the top in his assertion that Sanders' campaign was just a nefarious ploy to neuter progressives. I think it was a bit of both. Based on their initial condescending incredulity on MSNBC, CNN, etc., they probably thought he didn't have a snowball's chance in hell because they're so out of touch and couldn't fathom that someone crazy enough to call himself a democratic socialist would get large support in "Murica." They also assumed Biden, the embodiment of self-entitled mediocrity riding on Obama's coattails, would run away with this thing. I think establishment Dems only started panicking when they realized that Biden wasn't catching fire and that's when they desperately tried to make Harris, Pete, Amy, even fake progressive Warren (pragmatic = I will happily tinker around the edges) happen. When they had to admit reality and saw Bernie surging, they were probably like "oh shit, this guy could actually beat Trump and cost us our cushy gravy trains."

They first tried ignoring him, then they trashed him with all kinds of crazy stuff from his body language, to trying to figure out how to call him anti Semitic. It would have all been amusing if it wasn’t so damaging because the media played a big roll, along with voter fraud to stop Bernie. That was their big fear, they always knew Bernie would win against Trump and what a disruption that would have been. Oh god, no more kick backs, being held accountable and stop being ignorant regurgitating fools, the shock of it all! And as you said, it would have effected their pockets and that was the bottom line. So instead they helped crush our spirits and took hope away from all of us. And they all left us with Biden. Just watched this a second time, because listening to Dr. Cornel West is like a magical elixir for me, (and as a left wing blues/soul musician from New Orleans with a political science degree, 3 grown sons, & a full PLATTER of PTSD that goes back to Hurricane Katrina🤦🏻‍♀️,) it’s just always a beautiful thing to hear Dr. West’s perfect expression of the exact sentiments I feel right now, but with the utmost brilliance, intellect, and SOUL! 🙏
Brother Cornel West is like a freakin GIFT and a NATIONAL TREASURE! Without fail, Dr. West brings an exquisitely honest expression to the table every time, whether it’s a lecture, an interview, a debate or forum; he’s such a deep truth teller, both in his brilliant academic intellect and in his heart on his sleeve that id somehow constantly overflowing with love and compassion, as always for those who are fighting the hardest battles.
I know it’s where I’m always gonna go when I need to be infused with LOVE & HOPE in the face of our country’s MORAL BLACKOUT! Listening to him is my self-medication and soul-meditation! It’s like once you’ve gotten aboard the Love Train, it’s an experience that’s simultaneously enlightening AND healing. Whether he’s (with great humility) commenting and expounding upon socio-politics, injustice, inequality, Greek philosophers, GREAT MUSICIANS and MUSICAL IMPROVISATION, history, electoral politics, recommending various works of great writers and artists, and so on... his refreshing, inspiring, and spiritually uplifting voice is an elixir to the weary soul, the broken heart, and the worried mind.
So I try to always remember to listen to some Sam Cooke & Lou Rawls and the Soul Stirrers, James Brown, Bobby Blue Bland, Charlie Parker, Johnny Taylor, Nina Simone, Buddy Guy, George Clinton, (and because I’m from New Orleans~ some Johnny Adams, James Carroll Booker, John Boutte, Snooks Eaglin, Lee Dorsey, Allen Toussaint, Rebirth Brass Band, Cyril Neville, Earl King, Meters, & Willie Tee, ,) and then of course 👉some Impressions and Curtis Mayfield , Keep On Pushin!!! 🎶💟☮️

The Karen's of the world still listen to her, unfortunately, though even their numbers are thinning. Her endorsement is certainly the kiss of death for the rest of us actually on the left, but hopefully her endorsement helps to promote the excellent progressive running against her guy. James Medina Yes, and anti-intellectualism also produces suspicion of expertise and a tendency to rely instead on people who express (and arouse) strong emotions. Feeling, not thought, is how Americans navigate the world; you can even hear it in our verbal preference for expressing an opinion with "I feel like," rather than "I think" or "I believe."
