Cornel West is the kind of person we should have leading the human race into the future. Imagine if our political leaders had half of the integrity, wisdom, intelligence and love in their hearts as this human.

Cornel West's words left me feeling like a light had been shone into my mind and soul. His assessment of what's going on rings so true to me. Kudos to Rolling Stone, Matt Taibbi, and Katie Halper for that wonderful interview.

I have listened and watched Cornell West since the first time he ever appeared on any local tv broadcast, the highest praise might very well be that not only has he changed my mind by first revealing a light to a perspective or line of thought I did not previously see which is high accomplish alone, the most amazing trait of Cornell West is over the course of 4 decades his integrity remains intact to this trained skeptic

Good Lord. Not this again. Please, let it go. Even in the age of Trump with his violence, cruelty, ignorance, lying, and rampant evil - all in the service of his malignant narcissism, we keep finding something to blame Obama for. Yep, he wasn't perfect and there's things I wish he had done differently, but there are reasons why his popularity is still off the charts. Fortunately or unfortunately, he was the Jackie Robinson of his day - caught between people's myths and dreams. Being the first and doomed to have to carry the weight of it all. If he moved one way the racist Republicans in Congress would blame him for anything i.e tan suit anyone? Oh yeah, how about saluting with a cup of coffee in his hand? Or having to be scolded by the female Governor of Arizona and simply having to take it? If he moved another way folks like Cornell West would hit him with criticism from another side. Maybe if we had his back through all the garbage that was being heaped upon him vs criticizing him with equal fervor as the opposition we may have energized more of our voters in 2016 for a different outcome. As a long time subscriber of the Nation Magazine I canceled my subscription during the latter part of Obama's presidency because of negative article after negative article. Between folks like you, our shameless media, and the Republican death cult and their followers, we were gifted Trump.

Curious, how were your introduced to Dr. West?
Dr. West is such a dynamic and engaging speaker. Even when I first drifted to the left and had no idea what he was talking about, I always knew he believed it and whatever he said was being said for a reason. He’s really helped me stop “othering” people I disagreed with and start speaking in good faith rather than arguing to argue.
Dr. West is like therapy to me.

even at times when i have disagreed with him in the past, he brings an everlasting joy feeling and i can't help but smile from deep in my belly to my face when he's jamming and getting his message across, imagine what it takes to arrive at such vibes!

What the great Dr. West says about humor is truth. Humor got me through the darkest times, even just after losing loved ones. Its the most wonderful coping mechanism for me, especially dark humor. Never feel bad for laughing while terrible things are happening around you. It helps. Its normal. Its natural.

He joined Bernie's campaign twice, so maybe that's how close he's willing to get.
Dr. West’s vision connecting a rich history to the present place in the human journey is so compelling along with the insidious manner he weaves the references of “brother” and “sister” in reference to anyone he mentions evokes a sense of unity and community that he believes is so vital to maintain even a semblance of democracy. His words and speaking style is so captivating I hang on every word.
Yes...Sometimes adding levity to a situation or set of circumstances can take us out of some profoundly dark places
I can't help just crushing hard on Katie when I watch this show, sorry but it's true. I love how she communicates with her expressions, and her face is gorgeous. There, I got it out of my system.

I have been convinced for years that this man is just a real life wizard. How else can he be both one of the most informed human beings and also one of the affable. I'm "smart", nowhere near this man, but I read actual books as a hobby; but as soon as I learn some dark truth seldom talked about, I go on the war path to bum everyone out with dark knowledge. He talks about such dark things in way that enlightens me and doesn't send me into a frenzy of fear. That is a rare skill. Honestly, this man could tell me he ran over my Momma because he was late to give a talk, and would say sorry to him.
Cornell West embodies the simplicity and complexity of love.

Yes, the United States of America is a forcefully anti-intellectual culture. I've been saying this for a couple decades. It's always impressed me how intellectuals like Dr. West manage to thrive in this culture with a knee-jerk rejection of their very existence.
