You did it the wrong way then if it burnt lol. Switch the button other way and try again the Chuck spins but gives resistance when you have button set in right position and opens as it spins .. works because I just did it .. (and did it the same wrong way you did it at first.) 🤣
thats awesome u got it! .. i almost gave up at first doing it the wrong way. Took a thin layer of skin off!! 😂 I could have sworn I had that switch same way he said to… but obviously i did not lol.
Thank you my good friend! I've tried this exactly to your way and it worked an absolute treat first time!!!! Its new years eve here in Ireland and the UK. May you have great blast into 2025! Thank you again!!! 👍👍👍
It is but I (think,) the key to unlocking it are the settings it has to be set to before getting it un stuck. If not you can have that thing in reverse …stick your drill inside of a vice and waste hours trying while burning thin layers of your skin off lol but youll never get it unstuck . … And Im a woman btw guys.. if I got this you guys do too! 😉 Dont give up because it works… Just remember if your burning your hand doing it click the switch other way and try again. Lol
DeWalt wanted $79.00 flat fee to repair, worse I would have been without my hammer drill for weeks. Your suggestion worked perfectly for me. Thanks! Got to love You Tube!
THANK YOU. I had the opposite problem: chunk was stuck closed and I couldn't get the bit out. I just flicked the switch the other way, so I was screwing instead of unscrewing, flicked it a few times while holding the chuck in place, and let it open itself back up until the bit fell out!
I watched this video and thought 'no way is that going to work this chuck is stuck!' [Follows advice provided in video] Hey presto! Problem solved! Thank you from your newest subscriber :-)
While I burnt the sh!t out of my hand do this exact method….the fundamental technique still worked, when putting the drill on my vice, and clamping down on the chuck. So, problem solved. Thank you!
This doesn't work for my particularly stuck chuck on a 20v brushless...just rips the skin off my hand. Hitting the chuck with a wrench a few times will usually free my bit.
Didn't work for me. This is dangerous advice. Depending which model of Dewalt you have, this will take skin off. If you are going to grab a chuck that is stuck, use a cloth or vice. Still did not work for me. Tried hammering the jaws didn't work. Tried bit in a vice and hammer chuck to get bit out, that did not work either.. Must be a defect in Dewalt drills as it is a new one that I had hardly used before it became stuck. Still looking for another method?
This happened to me the other day all I did was spray wd40 down into it left over night more WD then tapped hard all the way round the chuck with a hammer or screw.driver handle and abra cadabra it's now fixed

OWWWW THAT DIDNT WORK! Just hurt my hand!
Just burnt the shit out of my hand….🤦♂️

Why thank you BradyBoy, all the best to you in the new year
I tried opening manually and it remained stuck open no matter what I did. Then I tried what you said and it worked perfectly! Thanks!
Isn't this how you always open and close the chuck? not sure how this works on a stuck chuck
No, I always turn the textured bit by hand to open and close it.

Thank you! I used my sleeve to help hold the chuck just in case it hurt, now I can see the jaws and tighten the bit. Good instructions.

It works use a big wrench instead of your hand. Also spray penitration oil on it a few hours before doing this
