My partner has a lot of tools, so when he needed a circular saw, I ordered this one for him as a Christmas gift. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxYDKeIjKLOfcwTgdin7TtCutsz4MbIc43 He is incredibly happy with the purchase. He stated that he likes that it is powerful, but still easy to use and cuts very well. He mentioned that it is important to know the right tools for the job at hand, and this compact saw has been exactly what he needed for a variety of projects at his rental properties and renovations. He also appreciates the battery packs, as stated, he owns a lot of DEWALT tools, so he is able to always keep batteries charged as needed.
I have 2 and I put my second on the shelf after having this issue and kind of forgot about it saw this when I was looking up another issue with my impact driver and tried this boom, back in service thank you
THANK YOU VERY MUCH !! I was not able to rls a drill bit using the “screwdriver” method, BUT by tapping lightly with a hammer, directly on the three teeth of the chuck worked like a champ.
STAY BLESSED. Your cure for the jammed chuck worked like magic. I had a sweaty time trying to figure out why the Chuck was jammed, maybe something was broken or got misaligned and repairs would have been a looong head ache. Thanks a ton for a very simple and effective solution to an otherwise complex looking problem. But the sad thing is that it happens to a DEWALT, which I bought thinking it would be quality assured and 100% trouble free upto a reasonable time of usage. We DO live in an imperfect world 😀.
been using a pipe wrench on mine last i used it to release and tighten the chuck, now come across your video, will have to give this a go, but hope i havent damaged it too much with the wrench...
also stunned to see how common a problem this is, maybe dewalt need to revise their mechanics a touch, or just lack of oil ? mine been in the shed where it does get a little humid, wonder if that contributed to the problem.
Omg thank you sooooop so much. My drill bit was stuck. All I did was push it in a bit and tried it again and it popped out. I was going to chuck it. Yes. Definitely will sub and like
Is this a Dewalt thing… nearly every video on this problem was on this brand. Plus… my issue was with exact drill you are showing. Either way thank you so much for showing me this fix.
Thank you. My original Dewalt DCD996 jammed up and I took it in for repair. Basically, I'm not out $99, but I do have a new drill. Still, I would much rather try to do what you did to fix the old one, .. and keep the $99, Do you think the problem was caused by lack of lubrication? Should I be adding oil after/before every use?
I have the Dewalt 795.....the chuck still rotates left and right with no issues. I wish i had the same joy as all of you in the comments. Unfortunately i have a 5 mil drill bit still stuck in it. It will not release.. 😢
This is a frequent problem. Design issue that never gets fixed by Dewalt. I have wasted hours freeing the chuck. Never had this problem with keyed chuck.
Thanks for help. The chuck on my dewalt DCD790 had become increasingly difficult to operate and finally I got a drill bit that would not come out. I used your method and the bit came out. I then sprayed WD40 and ran the chuck in and out multiple times. Drill works great now!
Perfect. I'm still disappointed that i had to bash a drill that's only 4 months old and only drilled a few holes. The top of the range radios are just as poorly made. Thanks for the advice.
I used my today to drill a single hole, and i was trying to remove the bit and it would not budge. I feel so disappointed in these tools. Mine is a milwaukee drill
I just bought a impact hammer drill combo kit and the drill bit is stuck on the trail run. I’m pretty disappointed TBH. I’m the person who doesn’t who hates returning stuffs.
Thank you. I must admit, in the beginning I thought it couldn't be that easy, but as I was in search for a solution for that exact kind or problem, as I had a Robertson drive stuck in the Dewalt cordless drill chuck for three years now, I decided to give it a try. I don't know if I'd scared the hell out of the drill when I grabbed the hammer and swing it, but with the second hit, the drill was flying free. Thank you very much. You made my weekend and not because it's the only drill I have, I carry half a dozen of them because I keep forgetting where is the safe and secure place where I stored them, but for some rare reason I always end using this same drill with the Robertson drive... you know how the story goes, eh? Thank you very much and keep bringing on the tricks of the trade.
Ps. I got the drill bit. Mindlessly I looked to see if there was rust in it and I put my pinki little finger in and almost got it stuck with a live battery in it fully charged. 😅 Don't do as I did.
I fought with it for an hour and then saw your video and It worked like a charm. You just saved me from buying a third drill. Thank you.
Glad it helped you out Kimberly.👍
Thank you. This saved me from the anxiety of not being able to finish my project and also having to buy a new drill.
UA-cam to the rescue, again!! Had this problem with a paddle bit and this gentleman provided just the right solution. Thank you kind sir.

Thanks! I have THREE DeWalt drills in the van with bits stuck in them and just fixed all three!!!! Legend!
That’s great news Neil, glad to make someone’s day!
I have 2 and I put my second on the shelf after having this issue and kind of forgot about it saw this when I was looking up another issue with my impact driver and tried this boom, back in service thank you
Just wanna say thank you! Never would’ve thought about doing that, a few taps and my drill bit was out!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH !! I was not able to rls a drill bit using the “screwdriver” method, BUT by tapping lightly with a hammer, directly on the three teeth of the chuck worked like a champ.
Hey dude tried your technique took several times but kept working around it and it popped out. Thank you
Thanks a lot. Tried both methods. Tapping the chuck then the teeth. Freed them up.
I got the exact same issue w dewalt atomic compact 20v 2ah your fix worked instantly. thank you!

Thank you. I was about to throw out the drill. You saved it.
Awesome!!!! Saved me $120 on a new dewalt driver!!!!
Hey, wanted to let you know that I fixed my by waking the chuck tip, in my case was due to rust build up. THANKS
Thanks. This happens all the time with my DeWalt drill
Mine took some pretty hard wacks, but I'm back to work! Thanks 👍
I almost chucked my drill over the back fence. Glad I didn't! This saved me frustration and money. Many thanks!
Hi Bryan, glad to hear you got it sorted 👍
You’re freaking awesome. Wow my man you’re the business new follower thanks.
Omg thank you sooooop so much. My drill bit was stuck. All I did was push it in a bit and tried it again and it popped out. I was going to chuck it. Yes. Definitely will sub and like

Hi Silk, I have tried oil but is didn’t make any difference. It seems to me that it’s a manufacturing fact.👍
Job done! Thanks.
Happy Christmas 🎅🏼🎅🏼🎅🏼🎅🏼🎅🏼
I have the Dewalt 795.....the chuck still rotates left and right with no issues.
I wish i had the same joy as all of you in the comments. Unfortunately i have a 5 mil drill bit still stuck in it. It will not release.. 😢

This is a frequent problem. Design issue that never gets fixed by Dewalt. I have wasted hours freeing the chuck. Never had this problem with keyed chuck.

Ty!
Ha, I've been using a big old wrench to get mine back open.
That worked. Thank you
If the fingers are all the down in chuck how do you get them out?

@@michaellabonte1260 glad it helped you out Michael 👍
Thanks dawg, work like a charm. 30 sec, we went like this, he went like that, where did he go, Hollywood’s dead.
👍👍👍👍 Thank you 🎉, finally I have my drill back after who knows how long , wow! Amazing! Thank you again
The reason it jammed is you have hex bit going into a 3 piece chuck. If you don't fit it correctly it can jam.
I was ready to buy a new drill and a new bit. Glad I found this!
Awesome. After two weeks of hand tools it’s nice to have a working drill back. Thank you.
As someone else said “AWESOME !!!”. Worked immediately. Thank you so very much!!!
PERFECT, IT WORKED. ***THANK YOU! Just a light tap and I'm back on schedule.
thank you so very much, I did exactly what you shown and it worked for me, Saved my Ryobi drill that i just bought second hand last week
Perfect. I'm still disappointed that i had to bash a drill that's only 4 months old and only drilled a few holes. The top of the range radios are just as poorly made. Thanks for the advice.
I couldn’t agree more with you Jel. I would expect Dewalt to be all over this and getting it sorted. Sadly they don’t seem interested.
Have one on the go since 2000. Still going strong.only reconed the batteries.one of the original pro series. Bullet proof
Genius. Iv been trying all sorts for days and in the end it took 2 seconds to fix with the simplest method.. Thank you!

Your very welcome Da Kaja, it’s great to get that feedback and know it has helped you. 👍👍👍
The very first time using this Dewalt drill, it jammed on me. Can't get the bit out. I'll try this. No more Dewalt. Thank you.
Ps. I got the drill bit. Mindlessly I looked to see if there was rust in it and I put my pinki little finger in and almost got it stuck with a live battery in it fully charged. 😅 Don't do as I did.
Fantastic video tip. Saved me from stripping it down. Thank you.
My hero!! This is really frustrating sooo with your help it now works! Thanks.....
