Solid work in progress so far, though I will say a couple things: Looks like the first phase isn't aggressive enough (a lot of downtime where you both just stand there for almost 10 seconds should be indicative enough, seems like a prime opportunity to implement a Kazama style parry stance). Second phase is as aggressive as I expected the first one to be, but unfortunately seems to have the ability to heal far too often because of RNG and the uninterruptible self-healing move. Overall, a far more interesting translation of the turn-based original fight than Bryce's. Looking forward to seeing some polish for this in the future, much like you did with Tendo and stuff.
Ebina’s moves look even more insane in brawler format. Especially that Tatsumaki Senpukyaku and the sword combo which can shoot out sword beams! EDIT: can’t believe I accidentally called Ebina as Mine. Probably because I also wrote a comment saying how his healing feels a lot like Mine’s
Rad!!!!! Maybe make it so that you can stagger Ebina out of healing by knocking him over? Enemies healing usually ticks off players, so giving them the chance to deny healing would be pretty cool!!!
The healing kinda reminds me of Mine. Also iirc the only way to stop Mine’s healing was with Komaki Parry. In Garry’s Mod Mine’s healing can also be stopped by finishing holds and heat actions.

Honestly from what I can tell, I would say its fine for my standards because I like long fights But realistically I think it would be better maybe reducing his hp somewhat, at least judging from the fact it's probably around 11mins of combat Edit: read the comments realised the hp is fine

The health absolutely isn't the problem, more so his aggressiveness in the first phase , with him spamming heals in the second phase being what extends it further.

Hey man I have a great idea I don't you if you'd able to impliment it Why don't you make the final boss even harder by making Kiryu's health always degrading? Or suddenly degrading, like showing how the cancer is now active to make Kiryu feel worse, and it'd connect to the ending scene where he faints, would be a neat detail
This is so cool, this fight is even better than I expected in brawler format! But the healing looks to be annoying, so a way to cancel it or remove it all together would be good, maybe do something similar to what k1 did?
its very difficult to alter healing without touching turn based which is a important part of my mod, but i could make him more suspectible to damage when he enters phase 2
@@Jhrino maybe you could add an optional file in the nexus page that removes healing in this fight for turn based and brawler, so you wouldn't have to change turn based in the main mod and players would still have the option to turn it off if they want

I mean, I'm pretty sure I've said it before, and I'll say it again- The damage you deal, to me, just feels way too low. Both heat actions, and regular attacks. I mean, this here shows that off pretty well. Ebina can heal 1000 HP, but in most cases you can only deal around 500 before he heals again. But that can just be me. It's really jarring to see the enemies throw out multi-hundred damage single attacks and you deal pennies by comparison, which just makes the fights REALLY drag on for a long time. The Yakuza 3 problem, if you get past the blocking. The damage per attack, even for enemies, is just too low in that game. There's genuinely a way to put bosses like Mine, Joji, Tamashiro and Final Richardson in an infinite loop that they can't break out of with Double Square Triangle. But even then, to finish the boss doing that takes like, a good 1 or 2 minutes from full health. When it really should take more like 30 seconds for most of them in the other games. Basically, yapping and rambling aside- i just feel like the fights take too long. That's all.
It's a stats thing, and consequence of being built on top of what's originally a turn-based RPG. The same situation occured in the first LAB. Realistically, you can just level up more in order to get the damage to your liking. You can retain a level equal to each boss if you want a longer brawl, or overlevel a bit if you want something that goes by quicker. Also the healing by itself isn't an issue, Ryuji, Mine and Aizawa are all final bosses that can heal; the issue is that Ebina can spam it due to RNG and it being uninterruptible. If it were scripted to only happen at like 25% HP and below, or only once at certain HP thresholds, that'd be easier to stomach.
So, how involved are the party members planned to be in combat come the final mod? If they are planned to be and not eventually cut that is. And are party members being involved in combat a planned feature for the first LaB once that’s finalized? Haven’t had a chance to play the chapter 1 demo so apologies if that’s answered by playing that
