That spell was broken early game because, 1 It was a high chance of working, and 2 even when someone resisted physical, you could remedy that buy putting them to sleep then smacking them. And Ann was always the last person to go, so it would also make the opponent skip a turn.
I still haven't gotten over when I found out Morgana is a guy. I legit thought Morgana was a girl until the conversation with Ryuji and Ann. I was also expecting a retread of P4 with Morgana being a shadow (those red herring dreams played a part). I agree that everyone in the Phantom Thieves should have taken turns taking care of Morgana. Could lead to some funny conversations with Yusuke, and Futaba.

I mean, Mona's DLC costumes are feminine in nature, his voice actor is female, and when he is questioned for his gender, he says "of course i'm male! I mean..." I always interpreted that as doubt on Mona's behalf.... i could be wrong, but that's what i always figured in regards to Mona-chan...
MistermistTheOne: I really like the idea of the other Thieved caring for Morgana, since not only would it give the player a break from him, but it could also feed into his later resentment of the Thieves. It would have been really good setup instead of his whole “arc” coming out of nowhere.

Morgana’s insecurity is not based entirely in his rapport with Ryuji. When the game starts, he has far more knowledge than MC, Ann, or Ryuji and is able to take pride in that. His sense of superiority over Ryuji is even mainly shown in Ryuji’s inability to understand what the hell the Metaverse is. As Makoto joins, she begins to show up. Then Futaba comes along with the ability to figure out nearly everything he’s learned all on her own. Ryuji’s antagonism is just what sends him over the edge and drives him away from the group.
Exactly. Makoto and Futaba made Morgana feel like he wasn't needed anymore. Given his memory loss, his entire identity was his role in the Phantom Thieves. Of course he became more sensitive than normal.
Being the advisor of the group was basically all he had because he had no clue where he came from and no clue what his purpose was besides being a phantom thief I think he had a bit of jealously towards everyone in the group because they had something to be whilst not a phantom thief Joker- he can work multiple jobs or just be a school student Ryuji- Helps his mother and Ig is a gym hound if that counts for anything Ann- outside of being a phantom thief she’s a model who will garner more attention if you go through her confidant Yusuke- He’s an artist and if anything being a phantom thief makes it better for him because he has thousands of sources of inspiration Makoto- If I’m not wrong is training to become a police officer in Strikers and is great in college Haru- Is basically the owner of Burger King for people with balls of steel and has millions of yen to her name Futaba- Is a hacker and she does go outside and socialises with people Overall I think he felt useless and jealous of everyone on the team because they had more than one purpose and whether they were phantom thieves or not they had something whereas he had nothing also I think he knew one day they’d have to stop changing hearts and everyone would’ve moved on and lived their lives because they didn’t need that second life
The biggest problem I have with Morgana is that you caring for him feels so forced and when he leaves and everyone is worried I’m just like “we can just leave him”

Morgana: Calls everyone amateur after being captured by scrub ass Kamoshida Obsessed with Ann in the most annoying way. Gets on Ryuji's ass even when Ryuji does something smart, however when Futaba makes Morgana basically useless, gets salty as fuck and leaves when Ryuji calls him out. Super arrogant, despite not being helpful or even causing trouble after the first dungeon (getting caught in laser trap). Always with you. Can't leave LeBlanc most of the time. Came back at the end. All of this said, the most annoying character is Mishima.
The one thing that made m like Mishima is when hes trying to break you out of Jubenile hall he says “Hes my best friend!” which his confidant story just flashed before me and made me like him
Not helpful? Are you nuts? He is easily the most helpful Videogame companion I ever had the honor to getting help from. He is easily the second most useful member of the Phantom thieves next to Joker. He is freaking amazing. Now to be frank it depends on ones playstyle , one might throw him out of the party once Yuske joins and never uses him again. But fore me, on my second playthrough, on hard, without new game plus boni he was the 3rd most useful fighter in the game only surpassed by Ann and Joker. Now I know by the end of the game he falls a bit behind the others but that did not happen to me until after I beat Akechi. And even than while not an optimal (but still not bad) choice fore boss fights he was pretty great fore normal fights. Not to mention all the stuff he does besides fighting. Teaching Joker and Co about all sorts of stuff, like battle, the metaverse and Phantom Thivery. Serve as a navigator before Futaba joins (and his guidance is vital) and memorizes weaknesses before Makotto joins and I really appreciate that because I suck at memorizing that kind of stuff. He can turn into car which is absolute vital at several occasions. Fore example Futabas palace would be unreachable fore the Thieves without Morgana. The desert would kill them ore atleast weaken them so much that the palace would be to much fore them. He also saves the Thieves from collapsing palaces at least 3 times. Maybe even 4 but with Madarames it was not that close of an escape so that is debatable. He is also the one who in most cases comes up with the plan where you have send of someone to gain a huge advatage in a boss fight. Also when Joker is in the town Morgana keeps his ears pilled fore useful informations that could be helpful fore the Thieves. I am honestly impressed how clever he is. And he keeps an Eye on Jokers sleep schedule. I am not Joking I am grateful fore that. Through my experience in real live I know how a lack of sleep affects well being and work quality. He also noticed Akechis pancake fuck up which was not that vital becuse Joker noticed it too but sill worth mentioning Oh and while his confidant skills are not the best opening looked chests is pretty nice. And just when I thought he could not become any more awesome I found out in a You Tube comment that the Limelight Infaltration tool is pretty good in the fight against the Twins. I tried it out and holyshit made it this fight a shit toon easier. Not easy but doable on hard. Oh yeah and he played a Key roll in making Satanael possible but I don't like that part of the game. Yeah he is arrogant but he has the skills and Witt to back up his claims. I like arrogant Characters who earned the right to be arrogant. Like Shantotto ore Bayonetta fore example. Now he makes mistakes but what I like about it is that he is honest about them. He always openly admits when he screws up, is unsure about the Informations he dishes out (even thought they are almost always correct) ore when he does not understand something. He does not making any lame excuses ore lies to make himself seem cooler. And thats what makes him cooler. He is flawed in a really likable way. His crush on Ann I found honestly pretty funny. He is a pretty sweet gentleman. Again I like how open and honest he is about it. I might be not that experienced in the world of media but I never experienced a Character who had a crush and is so honest and open about it. I can not defend him when it comes to being unnecessarily rude to Ryuji but I personally dont mind it to much. While Ryuji is undeniable awesome (honestly all of the Thieves are awesome) he is my personal candidate fore the most annoying Character in the game. Him leaving the Team yeah even the Morgana fanatic that I am can not deny that with that action he truly deserved to be called a stupid cat. And Ryuji proofed yeah he is a huge morron. Morgana and useless. You might aswell call Caroline and Justine weaklings. He is so awesome that him thinking he is useless is frustrating. But he came back with an awesome new member and as dumb and nonsensical the this arc was the end I found pretty sweet. Ryuji stands up fore Morgana despite his dumb demaner and Morgana swallows his pride and apologizes not fore the sake of coming back but to get help fore Haru. Hating Morgana just because he tells you to sleep feels really lazy since it's a clear mechanic. If Morgana wasn't there they'd just have the protagonist think to himself 'I should go to sleep now'
That might be true, but again it goes back to the dislike of being told what to do. If the MC decides he's tired, it would be annoying, but he'd have some agency. The way things are now, he's listening to a talking cat more than he probably needs to. On top of that, Morgana's already proven to be a bit of a jerk, so having him dictate your activities comes across as an extension of his behavior.
That "go to sleep" became a meme is one thing. But people actually deciding that it was a legitimate reason to dislike the character is beyond me. You have to go to sleep because you've run out of activity slots for the day. You want to stay up, call Ms. Kawakami. Morgana is just the Navi/Midna to your Link who externalizes game mechanics to the silent protagonist.
I never was bothered by Morgana because he's supposed to be your mentor, not your pet, so of course he's nagging you all day, he's enforcing you to be a stellar guy because you're on probation. And after completing his confidant it makes sense he's arrogant, he's the magician. What I think it would be a better mechanic was to put a "tired" meter in the game, so going two nights without sleeping makes you lose a day, so his intervention would've seen in another light. I think the problem you have with Morgana is because you don't see him as a mentor, but just as a companion. Once you think of him as a mentor, his attitude makes sense. The "Lady Ann" shit was tiring, I give you that. That was going nowhere and was waaaay more annoying than the "go the fuck to sleep"
Doonu Duwii he needs you to understand his purpose: he's your guide. He's supposed to guide you as the Trickster to release Igor. He's your mentor in your path, formed by Humanity's Hope. Igor tells you that as soon as you free him and Morgana confirms it.

Morgana was the collective hope of humanity condensed down to a cat, don't know why humanity's hope turned into a cat though, and he thought he was human because of how attracted he was to human desires, and also he says he wanted to be human because he envies them.

I honestly liked Teddie better because he was way funnier than Morgana. Morgana just annoys me to death, his Ann obsession, him always getting Ryuji in trouble, him bossing me around. Teddie only hit on people because he doesn't know what he's doing, he even said what is sex when they were in Yukiko's shadow place.
I did not care for him. I honestly wish that Morgana would chill out about his thirst for fucking Ann. It's weird and unsettling and I kinda wish Ann just say "Look I don't like you that way, I appreciate your feelings but they're unwarranted towards me." And just cut that shit out. Jesus fuck.

It irks me to see the PTs almost unanimously jab at Skull for being responsible for Morgana leaving. If anything, he was acting out in a way that should've just been confusing to everyone except maybe Joker. At the time it happened, Morgana was undergoing an identity crisis and feeling like he's losing what little place he has left in the Phantom Thieves, as well as becoming disturbed by the visions he's dreamt of where he seems like he's little more than some sentient Shadow. But no one know about this at all because Morgana just keeps it all to himself, is way too stubbornly proud to open up and admit he's scared and wants to stay, and overall refuses to communicate. Ryuji deserves no fault for the temporary absence of Morgana, he couldn't have possibly known what Mona was going through inside. He was literally just giving Morgana a bit of shit, and not even something that bad in Ryuji's eyes seeing as Morgana demeans Ryuji far more often and Ryuji lacked the necessary context to even *try* to be more tactful.
I think Teddie was better than Morgana. Morgana annoyed the hell out of me, telling me to sleep and always dumping for Ann. Teddie did that but he didnt know exactly what he was doing. In yukiko's palace/shadow place he didnt know what she was talking about when her shadow said she was gonna be getting banged or something. And just overall more funny than Morgana.
I kinda feel bad for Morgana considering that he was hit with the 1-2 punch of Makoto and Futaba taking over his support roles as the tactician and navigator.
I thought when Morgana left the group on his own made sense because of his need to be recognized. In the beginning he was the most experienced with the metaverse and formed the plans really. However, Makoto and Futaba excelled in these roles more than him, so he was losing importance in the group. Also he was getting tired of the shit treatment where everyone just viewed him more as a pet or a mascot rather than a person. Even Ann, who Morgana clearly want attention from, mentions how he's cute, kinda like how someone would describe a cat. So I do think he was justified in leaving, it's when he comes back is complete shit in the writing BECAUSE NOTHING CHANGED.
What makes morgana's arc look so bad when compared to teddie's is not only morgana pretty smart, but he is also throwing a bratty tantrum trying to show why he deserves appreciation from the phantom thieves all while underappreciating them. Sure Ryuji was being a jerk (which he should have learned by now from the track team what happens when you aren't a team player) but what ryuji said had some justification along with it. (by morgana starting the fight and makoto and futaba's abilities being added to the phantom thieves outshining morgana's) Teddie's arc on the other hand imo was better because: not only did he not wan't to accept the fact that he is a shadow but he also felt useless because of nanakos "death", along with his agreement to the investigation team being fufilled he felt like he should probably say goodbye even though he didn't want to.: Teddie's feelings compared to morgana's at the climaxes of their arcs makes me feel like his feelings are a lot more justifyable compared to morgana's forced beef with ryuji. Mabe if atlus gave morgana's arc a similar ending to yosuke's if he were to duel ryuji (for the both of them to release pent up feelings and at the end of it all gain the respect both of and for his rival) then I would have liked his arc a lot more. Not only do both ryuji and morgana have eachother's elemental weaknesses but they both would be able to see how strong they have become. And it would have been another call back to persona 4. This is all just my opinion though
To be honest, I know that at the end of the true ending Morgana realizes what he once was, but it seemed to me like the nightmares he kept having about himself in Mementos was going to lead to something. Whether it was the realization at the true ending or not is debatable, but I felt like it was kinda a missed opportunity. Also I honestly don't mind Morgana too much aside from when he leaves with Haru (which like you explain felt forced) and he is alright.
This character was just insufferable. During the first 3/4s of the game I could not stand Morgana at all. He was a pretentious, arrogant, and stubborn character who forced an input into everything. The mechanic of him basically being the protagonist's thought voice did not bother me, it was his obsessive clinginess and how much the game gasses him up to be some hot shot that did. He is everywhere in the game and even when he fucks up in the September/October setting of the game, you're forced to care and go look out for him wasting like an entire week because you were "worried". Teddie was useless sure, Teddie was indeed annoying, he was a massive reason why Persona 4 could not be taken seriously; but Teddie was never meant to be taken seriously. Morgana on the other hand is insufferable in the degree that he takes himself too seriously and even abandons his team mates over his fucking pride. It's ridiculous and it almost killed his character for me. I also hated how the game forced you to like his character. Multiple times in the plot you are forced to compliment him and make him the star of the Phantom Thieves especially around the end of the game. I remember one of the characters in the cast said that the entire group's achievements are because of fucking Morgana, as though the entire team didn't work as much as that cat did. And that terrible fake out they tried to pull at the end made me hope he really died. Morgana is useful and some times a decent character, but by Christ was he such a pain in the ass.. I did not understand why Atlus opted for a mascot character rather than make his character more like that of Ryoji from Persona 3 in it that he was born of the other world but he was the single key to saving the Phantom Thieves from the end of the world. I feel a huge hindrance to Morgana's very character is the fact that he was not human but a stupid fuckin cat with no reason other then why not..

Heck not even the Morgana fanatic that I am can defend him on the "leaving the team because of his pride" part. But I personally love him. My argument was against, specifically the idea that people hated Morgana because of his commentary on the fights, as Futaba does the same, and can be as repetitive. But yes, Morgana is also a character and will say things both as a commentator and a party member. Also, he is there for longer in the game. I still think the primary reason people hate Morgana is the fact he is with you all of the time and his personality can be a bit obnoxious. He doesn't just commentate fights, he commentates your entire life. Every time you watch a movie, read a book, take a bath, go to the bathroom, sneeze, he is always giving his hot take. And he is a bit full of himself too. Luckly, on Royal, he has stopped telling you to go to sleep every time you do anything in the afternoon.

Really liked Morgana, his confidant was okay don't really expect much from automatics and I think it's really stupid that people are hating him cause of a gameplay mechanic.
Morgana's charachter arc is all about learning to accept himself for who he is and understand that it does'nt make you look weak to express when your feeling bad about something. Honestly I related to his arc the most especially after the year I had last year, it is extremely dangerous to bottle stuff up and not address it. The fight that happens in the Okumura arc is not just about Ryuji and I hate that people don't take the time to understand what's actually going on. By that point all of his insecuities are flaring up high inside but his pride is keeping him from expressing what he's feeling so it just keeps building, made no better by Ryuji constantly poking at them without him even having done anything. He is critical of Ryuji yes, but he NEVER digs at something he knows Ryuji is sensitive about like his broken Leg or the abuse he suffered from Kamoshida. But Ryuji digs at every single thing he's insecure about often without being provoked and it DOES border on verbal abuse and Ryuji of all people should know not to do that. But anyway by the time the argument happens everything is just on overdrive inside of Morgana and THAT'S what causes him to blow up and run away. And again Ryuji only complicates it further when we see he does on some level see Morgana as useless at least at that point in the game.After the okumura arc ends you'll notice that Morgana is alot more relaxed and even does'nt dig at Ryuji as much and when he does they both know not to take it too far anymore. That's actually continued in Strikers where we see that they've both realized how much they care about each other even if they don't want to admit it to each other quite yet. I loved morgana from the moment I first played Royal and as the games go on you do see his development stick both in learning that it's ok to express when your feeling bad but also that he's perfectly special just the way he is and should'nt stress about how he looks. He's the reason I finally decided to try a Persona game out. I loved that there was a non human charachter in your party and find it so fun to beat down big enemies with him by my side. I esepically love it when he's not afraid to smack talk the villians. Seriously he has the stones to tell Yaldaboth exactly where he can stick it how is that not awesome? Also no Morgana does not hate everyone I don't know where you got that he did, he's pretty nice and friendly to everyone else hell there's even alot of times where he and Ryuji are completely cool with each other. The others actually bother to treat him with respect and not push his boundries, I seriously hope you've replayed 5 or Royal since this video because it's clear there's alot of shit you forgot about.

I love Morgana. But the melodrama between him and Ryuji before Okumuras palace ticked me off because I shoul,hae been able to prevent the argument from escalating or just let me punch Ryuji. Morgana was one of the original founders of the phantom theives and he helped set the ball rolling. I veiwed morgana as a mentor, especially sense P5 is my first persona. He helped to guide me. I wouldn't be the leader I was or even beat The end game boss without him. The game never gave me the opportunity to solve their argument. And when Morgana left, me and makotoo were the only healers left. And I was ticked off because he blamed the whole team for Ryuji's behavior and It wasn't a good way to introduce Haru to me. But his absence made me miss him a lot. When Haru's fiance hit him I was ready to kill.

I think Igor’s confidant was the best auto one. You’re not really learning about him. Every time your beat a palace, Igor congratulates you and gives you a skill. This also ties into the new special confidant skill thing in persona 5
Morgana's confidant could have still been the group confidant since he was usually the real decision maker in meetings and the protagonist mostly just spoke in response to everyone else. Major storyline decisions along with the points before Morgana decides to leave and the point when he returned were discussed in the group, but were often more clearly reiterated when alone with him in the attic. They could have just forgone a lot of the private discussion and pushed it to the group instead.
I didn't like Morgana until he "died" and then I was like..Maybe I was a little tough on Morgana and I thought maybe I liked him. Then he comes back?! Never mind I hate him again. Ugh...
I like Morgana a lot. To say you don’t by the end is a lie, but he is infuriating at points with his Simping and Bitching, if it was dialed back a little bit he would be the best character.
Never understood why people keep giving Morgana shit. He tells you to get to bed, but the game would've asked you to go to bed either way, this game heavily encourages you to spend your time well.. Also, yes Morgana insults Ryuji all the time but he takes it well. But with Morgana's situation, imagine someone insulting you when you're down in the dumps. He ran away because he thought that he was so useless, you didn't need him any way.
Ryuji wasn't aware of Morgana's current situation though. On the other hand Morgana was shitting on Ryuji knowing well about his past. Hell, I don't know. Both Ryuji and Morgana were being childish and immature during that "mona episode." And the others didn't do anything to stop them from fighting. I do agree with your first argument though. Morgana was supposed to be your "guide" so it's natural that he'd tell you to rest after a long day. I saw a comment that said that it would've been nice if you can disobey Morgana and stay up for a couple of days, but you get too tired to do anything and lose a day. I thought that was a good idea because the game is telling you to use time wisely :/
+churro It should have been obvious from how he was acting. Even if he didn't realize it at that point, which is understandable, when chasing him in Mementos, HE KEEPS DOING IT! Which is why I blame Ryuji more than Morgana for that. They're both temporarily demoted to shitty characters who I want to gut for that arc, and then they make up for it. The biggest thing I hate is that people let it go easily for Ryuji, but don't let it fgo for Morgana, even though, by all rights, Ryuji is more in the wrong because he had no reason to act like that, especially in Mementos.
I honestly really missed Morgana when he was gone. And when it come to Ryuji I wanted to punch that guy in the face fore calling Morgana useless ore ordering Makoto to do it since she can do it better. Luckly my wishe come true after Shidos palace. Sofaris I was experiencing the epitome of greatness when Morgana was gone. For once in my life my need to kill him in every battle I make him participate dissapeared and I felt haply for a while, since he is my most hated character in the game, followed by Akechi.
Not gonna lie when I'm older I'm probably not gonna last because of how long I stay awake, and I'd need a good sleep schedule to make it out alive. Cue the sleeping meme. I mean, Morgana might be "annoying" but he deserves better, he's an overall adorable character. Without Morgana there'd be no way the protagonist, Ryuji, etc would be able to survive in the "castle", or even know what to do. I didn't mind Morgana at all he was a night and day difference over Teddie. However he can be annoying when he tells you what to do that I can agree with. I hated that part of the game when you get Haru. I remember what they fought is that Morgana was jealous over Futaba's Navigation skills and Morgana felt like that he was useless and Ryuji added fuel to the fire. At least Morgana went after one female character rather than all of them unlike Teddie. During getting Haru part of the game I missed Morgana not being with you but yet it was a reprieve for others. Plus Morgana was far more useful Teddie because of being able to transform into bus. But him telling you to sleep I do not mind so much because in P3 there are characters that tell you that you look tiered and should get some rest. I agree that Aigis is the mascot character of P3 because the way she wants to be attached to the P3 protag.
I like Morgana and although he is pretty annoying at times, I didn't really mind it that much. Morgana's Confidant on the other hand is really bad, like you guys said it all just blends together and it isn't very memorable.

That spell was broken early game because, 1 It was a high chance of working, and 2 even when someone resisted physical, you could remedy that buy putting them to sleep then smacking them. And Ann was always the last person to go, so it would also make the opponent skip a turn.
I guess the problem is that you have to actually live with Morgana 24/7, unlike in P4 where Yosuke gets charged with the task of babysitting Teddie.
I still haven't gotten over when I found out Morgana is a guy. I legit thought Morgana was a girl until the conversation with Ryuji and Ann. I was also expecting a retread of P4 with Morgana being a shadow (those red herring dreams played a part).
I agree that everyone in the Phantom Thieves should have taken turns taking care of Morgana. Could lead to some funny conversations with Yusuke, and Futaba.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't Mona-chan gender neutral? I know Cassandra was only joking around during the AMA at Anime Expo, but i always figured that might ring true to some degree. I mean, Mona's DLC costumes are feminine in nature, his voice actor is female, and when he is questioned for his gender, he says "of course i'm male! I mean..." I always interpreted that as doubt on Mona's behalf.... i could be wrong, but that's what i always figured in regards to Mona-chan...

Morgana’s insecurity is not based entirely in his rapport with Ryuji. When the game starts, he has far more knowledge than MC, Ann, or Ryuji and is able to take pride in that. His sense of superiority over Ryuji is even mainly shown in Ryuji’s inability to understand what the hell the Metaverse is. As Makoto joins, she begins to show up. Then Futaba comes along with the ability to figure out nearly everything he’s learned all on her own. Ryuji’s antagonism is just what sends him over the edge and drives him away from the group.
Exactly. Makoto and Futaba made Morgana feel like he wasn't needed anymore. Given his memory loss, his entire identity was his role in the Phantom Thieves. Of course he became more sensitive than normal.

Ryuji- Helps his mother and Ig is a gym hound if that counts for anything
Ann- outside of being a phantom thief she’s a model who will garner more attention if you go through her confidant
Yusuke- He’s an artist and if anything being a phantom thief makes it better for him because he has thousands of sources of inspiration
Makoto- If I’m not wrong is training to become a police officer in Strikers and is great in college
Haru- Is basically the owner of Burger King for people with balls of steel and has millions of yen to her name
Futaba- Is a hacker and she does go outside and socialises with people
Overall I think he felt useless and jealous of everyone on the team because they had more than one purpose and whether they were phantom thieves or not they had something whereas he had nothing also I think he knew one day they’d have to stop changing hearts and everyone would’ve moved on and lived their lives because they didn’t need that second life

Not helpful? Are you nuts? He is easily the most helpful Videogame companion I ever had the honor to getting help from. He is easily the second most useful member of the Phantom thieves next to Joker. He is freaking amazing.
Now to be frank it depends on ones playstyle , one might throw him out of the party once Yuske joins and never uses him again. But fore me, on my second playthrough, on hard, without new game plus boni he was the 3rd most useful fighter in the game only surpassed by Ann and Joker. Now I know by the end of the game he falls a bit behind the others but that did not happen to me until after I beat Akechi. And even than while not an optimal (but still not bad) choice fore boss fights he was pretty great fore normal fights. Not to mention all the stuff he does besides fighting.
Teaching Joker and Co about all sorts of stuff, like battle, the metaverse and Phantom Thivery.
Serve as a navigator before Futaba joins (and his guidance is vital) and memorizes weaknesses before Makotto joins and I really appreciate that because I suck at memorizing that kind of stuff. He can turn into car which is absolute vital at several occasions. Fore example Futabas palace would be unreachable fore the Thieves without Morgana. The desert would kill them ore atleast weaken them so much that the palace would be to much fore them. He also saves the Thieves from collapsing palaces at least 3 times. Maybe even 4 but with Madarames it was not that close of an escape so that is debatable. He is also the one who in most cases comes up with the plan where you have send of someone to gain a huge advatage in a boss fight. Also when Joker is in the town Morgana keeps his ears pilled fore useful informations that could be helpful fore the Thieves. I am honestly impressed how clever he is. And he keeps an Eye on Jokers sleep schedule. I am not Joking I am grateful fore that. Through my experience in real live I know how a lack of sleep affects well being and work quality.
He also noticed Akechis pancake fuck up which was not that vital becuse Joker noticed it too but sill worth mentioning
Oh and while his confidant skills are not the best opening looked chests is pretty nice. And just when I thought he could not become any more awesome I found out in a You Tube comment that the Limelight Infaltration tool is pretty good in the fight against the Twins. I tried it out and holyshit made it this fight a shit toon easier. Not easy but doable on hard.
Oh yeah and he played a Key roll in making Satanael possible but I don't like that part of the game.
Yeah he is arrogant but he has the skills and Witt to back up his claims. I like arrogant Characters who earned the right to be arrogant. Like Shantotto ore Bayonetta fore example. Now he makes mistakes but what I like about it is that he is honest about them. He always openly admits when he screws up, is unsure about the Informations he dishes out (even thought they are almost always correct) ore when he does not understand something. He does not making any lame excuses ore lies to make himself seem cooler. And thats what makes him cooler. He is flawed in a really likable way.
His crush on Ann I found honestly pretty funny. He is a pretty sweet gentleman. Again I like how open and honest he is about it. I might be not that experienced in the world of media but I never experienced a Character who had a crush and is so honest and open about it.
I can not defend him when it comes to being unnecessarily rude to Ryuji but I personally dont mind it to much. While Ryuji is undeniable awesome (honestly all of the Thieves are awesome) he is my personal candidate fore the most annoying Character in the game.
Him leaving the Team yeah even the Morgana fanatic that I am can not deny that with that action he truly deserved to be called a stupid cat. And Ryuji proofed yeah he is a huge morron. Morgana and useless. You might aswell call Caroline and Justine weaklings. He is so awesome that him thinking he is useless is frustrating. But he came back with an awesome new member and as dumb and nonsensical the this arc was the end I found pretty sweet.

Hating Morgana just because he tells you to sleep feels really lazy since it's a clear mechanic. If Morgana wasn't there they'd just have the protagonist think to himself 'I should go to sleep now'

That might be true, but again it goes back to the dislike of being told what to do. If the MC decides he's tired, it would be annoying, but he'd have some agency. The way things are now, he's listening to a talking cat more than he probably needs to.
On top of that, Morgana's already proven to be a bit of a jerk, so having him dictate your activities comes across as an extension of his behavior.
That "go to sleep" became a meme is one thing. But people actually deciding that it was a legitimate reason to dislike the character is beyond me. You have to go to sleep because you've run out of activity slots for the day. You want to stay up, call Ms. Kawakami. Morgana is just the Navi/Midna to your Link who externalizes game mechanics to the silent protagonist.

I never was bothered by Morgana because he's supposed to be your mentor, not your pet, so of course he's nagging you all day, he's enforcing you to be a stellar guy because you're on probation.
And after completing his confidant it makes sense he's arrogant, he's the magician.
What I think it would be a better mechanic was to put a "tired" meter in the game, so going two nights without sleeping makes you lose a day, so his intervention would've seen in another light.
I think the problem you have with Morgana is because you don't see him as a mentor, but just as a companion. Once you think of him as a mentor, his attitude makes sense.
The "Lady Ann" shit was tiring, I give you that. That was going nowhere and was waaaay more annoying than the "go the fuck to sleep"

It wasn't really about Ryuji being an asshole, it was because they didn't want to go into Okumura's palace at the time. The argument with Ryuji was because he decided to side with everyone else after they all decided it was a bad idea to go.
Morgana was the collective hope of humanity condensed down to a cat, don't know why humanity's hope turned into a cat though, and he thought he was human because of how attracted he was to human desires, and also he says he wanted to be human because he envies them.

It irks me to see the PTs almost unanimously jab at Skull for being responsible for Morgana leaving. If anything, he was acting out in a way that should've just been confusing to everyone except maybe Joker.
At the time it happened, Morgana was undergoing an identity crisis and feeling like he's losing what little place he has left in the Phantom Thieves, as well as becoming disturbed by the visions he's dreamt of where he seems like he's little more than some sentient Shadow. But no one know about this at all because Morgana just keeps it all to himself, is way too stubbornly proud to open up and admit he's scared and wants to stay, and overall refuses to communicate.
Ryuji deserves no fault for the temporary absence of Morgana, he couldn't have possibly known what Mona was going through inside. He was literally just giving Morgana a bit of shit, and not even something that bad in Ryuji's eyes seeing as Morgana demeans Ryuji far more often and Ryuji lacked the necessary context to even *try* to be more tactful.
I think Teddie was better than Morgana. Morgana annoyed the hell out of me, telling me to sleep and always dumping for Ann. Teddie did that but he didnt know exactly what he was doing. In yukiko's palace/shadow place he didnt know what she was talking about when her shadow said she was gonna be getting banged or something. And just overall more funny than Morgana.
I kinda feel bad for Morgana considering that he was hit with the 1-2 punch of Makoto and Futaba taking over his support roles as the tactician and navigator.
I thought when Morgana left the group on his own made sense because of his need to be recognized. In the beginning he was the most experienced with the metaverse and formed the plans really. However, Makoto and Futaba excelled in these roles more than him, so he was losing importance in the group. Also he was getting tired of the shit treatment where everyone just viewed him more as a pet or a mascot rather than a person. Even Ann, who Morgana clearly want attention from, mentions how he's cute, kinda like how someone would describe a cat. So I do think he was justified in leaving, it's when he comes back is complete shit in the writing BECAUSE NOTHING CHANGED.

What makes morgana's arc look so bad when compared to teddie's is not only morgana pretty smart, but he is also throwing a bratty tantrum trying to show why he deserves appreciation from the phantom thieves all while underappreciating them. Sure Ryuji was being a jerk (which he should have learned by now from the track team what happens when you aren't a team player) but what ryuji said had some justification along with it. (by morgana starting the fight and makoto and futaba's abilities being added to the phantom thieves outshining morgana's) Teddie's arc on the other hand imo was better because: not only did he not wan't to accept the fact that he is a shadow but he also felt useless because of nanakos "death", along with his agreement to the investigation team being fufilled he felt like he should probably say goodbye even though he didn't want to.: Teddie's feelings compared to morgana's at the climaxes of their arcs makes me feel like his feelings are a lot more justifyable compared to morgana's forced beef with ryuji. Mabe if atlus gave morgana's arc a similar ending to yosuke's if he were to duel ryuji (for the both of them to release pent up feelings and at the end of it all gain the respect both of and for his rival) then I would have liked his arc a lot more. Not only do both ryuji and morgana have eachother's elemental weaknesses but they both would be able to see how strong they have become. And it would have been another call back to persona 4. This is all just my opinion though

To be honest, I know that at the end of the true ending Morgana realizes what he once was, but it seemed to me like the nightmares he kept having about himself in Mementos was going to lead to something. Whether it was the realization at the true ending or not is debatable, but I felt like it was kinda a missed opportunity. Also I honestly don't mind Morgana too much aside from when he leaves with Haru (which like you explain felt forced) and he is alright.
This character was just insufferable. During the first 3/4s of the game I could not stand Morgana at all. He was a pretentious, arrogant, and stubborn character who forced an input into everything. The mechanic of him basically being the protagonist's thought voice did not bother me, it was his obsessive clinginess and how much the game gasses him up to be some hot shot that did.
He is everywhere in the game and even when he fucks up in the September/October setting of the game, you're forced to care and go look out for him wasting like an entire week because you were "worried". Teddie was useless sure, Teddie was indeed annoying, he was a massive reason why Persona 4 could not be taken seriously; but Teddie was never meant to be taken seriously. Morgana on the other hand is insufferable in the degree that he takes himself too seriously and even abandons his team mates over his fucking pride. It's ridiculous and it almost killed his character for me.
I also hated how the game forced you to like his character. Multiple times in the plot you are forced to compliment him and make him the star of the Phantom Thieves especially around the end of the game. I remember one of the characters in the cast said that the entire group's achievements are because of fucking Morgana, as though the entire team didn't work as much as that cat did. And that terrible fake out they tried to pull at the end made me hope he really died. Morgana is useful and some times a decent character, but by Christ was he such a pain in the ass..
I did not understand why Atlus opted for a mascot character rather than make his character more like that of Ryoji from Persona 3 in it that he was born of the other world but he was the single key to saving the Phantom Thieves from the end of the world. I feel a huge hindrance to Morgana's very character is the fact that he was not human but a stupid fuckin cat with no reason other then why not..
Man have a bad habit of talking back when someone has the oposite opinion of mine. I hope you are not to much about it. I really understand why alot of people not like him. Heck not even the Morgana fanatic that I am can defend him on the "leaving the team because of his pride" part. But I personally love him. He became one of my favorite Characters in all of fiction and defiantly my favorite companion in gaming.
In my last playthrough yeah he was the star of the Phantom Thieves easily the second most useful Character next to Joker. He was beyond amazing in so many ways. To call just one example in Boss fight against Caroline and Justine, on hard, without new game plus boni, the limelight infiltration tool was vital fore my victory. It made the fight so much easier.
Sofaris If killing Morgana meant everyone would hate me and I would be killed, I would still take my sweet time to torture him for weeks and weeks, making my best efforts to keep him in a half-dead state until he finally died due to me fucking up or something. And when I was about to get silenced pistol sniped by some black mask I would be dying with no regrets. Seriously fuck him. If Teddie is supposed to be something WORSE than the abomination that thing is, I think I will intentioally keep Teddie in main part so that I can keep killing him, like with Morgana.

@@ProfiteerProphet Morgana has more opportunities to talk during a fight than Futaba, since he's both a commentator and playable character. Futaba doesn't commentate every single time you hit an individual weakness, but with Morgana it's just *"It'S ALmOSt ScARy HoW gOoD i aM"*

My argument was against, specifically the idea that people hated Morgana because of his commentary on the fights, as Futaba does the same, and can be as repetitive. But yes, Morgana is also a character and will say things both as a commentator and a party member. Also, he is there for longer in the game.
I still think the primary reason people hate Morgana is the fact he is with you all of the time and his personality can be a bit obnoxious. He doesn't just commentate fights, he commentates your entire life. Every time you watch a movie, read a book, take a bath, go to the bathroom, sneeze, he is always giving his hot take. And he is a bit full of himself too. Luckly, on Royal, he has stopped telling you to go to sleep every time you do anything in the afternoon.

Really liked Morgana, his confidant was okay don't really expect much from automatics and I think it's really stupid that people are hating him cause of a gameplay mechanic.

Morgana's charachter arc is all about learning to accept himself for who he is and understand that it does'nt make you look weak to express when your feeling bad about something. Honestly I related to his arc the most especially after the year I had last year, it is extremely dangerous to bottle stuff up and not address it. The fight that happens in the Okumura arc is not just about Ryuji and I hate that people don't take the time to understand what's actually going on. By that point all of his insecuities are flaring up high inside but his pride is keeping him from expressing what he's feeling so it just keeps building, made no better by Ryuji constantly poking at them without him even having done anything. He is critical of Ryuji yes, but he NEVER digs at something he knows Ryuji is sensitive about like his broken Leg or the abuse he suffered from Kamoshida. But Ryuji digs at every single thing he's insecure about often without being provoked and it DOES border on verbal abuse and Ryuji of all people should know not to do that.
But anyway by the time the argument happens everything is just on overdrive inside of Morgana and THAT'S what causes him to blow up and run away. And again Ryuji only complicates it further when we see he does on some level see Morgana as useless at least at that point in the game.After the okumura arc ends you'll notice that Morgana is alot more relaxed and even does'nt dig at Ryuji as much and when he does they both know not to take it too far anymore. That's actually continued in Strikers where we see that they've both realized how much they care about each other even if they don't want to admit it to each other quite yet.
I loved morgana from the moment I first played Royal and as the games go on you do see his development stick both in learning that it's ok to express when your feeling bad but also that he's perfectly special just the way he is and should'nt stress about how he looks. He's the reason I finally decided to try a Persona game out. I loved that there was a non human charachter in your party and find it so fun to beat down big enemies with him by my side. I esepically love it when he's not afraid to smack talk the villians. Seriously he has the stones to tell Yaldaboth exactly where he can stick it how is that not awesome?

I love Morgana. But the melodrama between him and Ryuji before Okumuras palace ticked me off because I shoul,hae been able to prevent the argument from escalating or just let me punch Ryuji. Morgana was one of the original founders of the phantom theives and he helped set the ball rolling. I veiwed morgana as a mentor, especially sense P5 is my first persona. He helped to guide me. I wouldn't be the leader I was or even beat The end game boss without him. The game never gave me the opportunity to solve their argument. And when Morgana left, me and makotoo were the only healers left. And I was ticked off because he blamed the whole team for Ryuji's behavior and It wasn't a good way to introduce Haru to me. But his absence made me miss him a lot. When Haru's fiance hit him I was ready to kill.
With all of Igor's bag obsessions, he might as well just make a purse fashion line. He'd make some pretty good money at least.

I think Igor’s confidant was the best auto one. You’re not really learning about him. Every time your beat a palace, Igor congratulates you and gives you a skill. This also ties into the new special confidant skill thing in persona 5
Morgana's confidant could have still been the group confidant since he was usually the real decision maker in meetings and the protagonist mostly just spoke in response to everyone else. Major storyline decisions along with the points before Morgana decides to leave and the point when he returned were discussed in the group, but were often more clearly reiterated when alone with him in the attic. They could have just forgone a lot of the private discussion and pushed it to the group instead.
I didn't like Morgana until he "died" and then I was like..Maybe I was a little tough on Morgana and I thought maybe I liked him. Then he comes back?! Never mind I hate him again. Ugh...

Never understood why people keep giving Morgana shit. He tells you to get to bed, but the game would've asked you to go to bed either way, this game heavily encourages you to spend your time well.. Also, yes Morgana insults Ryuji all the time but he takes it well. But with Morgana's situation, imagine someone insulting you when you're down in the dumps. He ran away because he thought that he was so useless, you didn't need him any way.
Ryuji wasn't aware of Morgana's current situation though. On the other hand Morgana was shitting on Ryuji knowing well about his past. Hell, I don't know. Both Ryuji and Morgana were being childish and immature during that "mona episode." And the others didn't do anything to stop them from fighting.
I do agree with your first argument though. Morgana was supposed to be your "guide" so it's natural that he'd tell you to rest after a long day. I saw a comment that said that it would've been nice if you can disobey Morgana and stay up for a couple of days, but you get too tired to do anything and lose a day. I thought that was a good idea because the game is telling you to use time wisely :/

+churro It should have been obvious from how he was acting. Even if he didn't realize it at that point, which is understandable, when chasing him in Mementos, HE KEEPS DOING IT! Which is why I blame Ryuji more than Morgana for that. They're both temporarily demoted to shitty characters who I want to gut for that arc, and then they make up for it. The biggest thing I hate is that people let it go easily for Ryuji, but don't let it fgo for Morgana, even though, by all rights, Ryuji is more in the wrong because he had no reason to act like that, especially in Mementos.
I honestly really missed Morgana when he was gone. And when it come to Ryuji I wanted to punch that guy in the face fore calling Morgana useless ore ordering Makoto to do it since she can do it better. Luckly my wishe come true after Shidos palace. Good work girls.
Morganas arrogance does not bother me becuse I honestly like arrogant Characters that have the skill and power to back there words up. Now Morgana is not super powerful but I have respect fore someone who is a great healer and still kick some ass.

I mean, Morgana might be "annoying" but he deserves better, he's an overall adorable character. Without Morgana there'd be no way the protagonist, Ryuji, etc would be able to survive in the "castle", or even know what to do. I didn't mind Morgana at all he was a night and day difference over Teddie. However he can be annoying when he tells you what to do that I can agree with. I hated that part of the game when you get Haru. I remember what they fought is that Morgana was jealous over Futaba's Navigation skills and Morgana felt like that he was useless and Ryuji added fuel to the fire. At least Morgana went after one female character rather than all of them unlike Teddie. During getting Haru part of the game I missed Morgana not being with you but yet it was a reprieve for others. Plus Morgana was far more useful Teddie because of being able to transform into bus. But him telling you to sleep I do not mind so much because in P3 there are characters that tell you that you look tiered and should get some rest. I agree that Aigis is the mascot character of P3 because the way she wants to be attached to the P3 protag.
