- Hi all
Suffeering from bad interference on my homebase CB Radio so decided to do something about it, mu investigations discoverede the two sources and hopefully my method will help you too.
If you have any luck please post a comment!
hi,interesting video, one power supply on top of the other does not help, and separate all the power cables from the coax cables, good coax cable, and a good power also helps, the list goes on,good luck,73 from Rotterdam.
Hi Ben, the power packs are just stacked i don't actually use them like that. The 5-7amp one had the transitior in the rear go so I had just repaired it when this was filmed so only the one there now. Thanks for the pointers on the power cables etc very useful. Stay safe 73's!
Blessed love my brother, Can you tell me where in England can I get a CB Radio, or a Ham Radio to buy, please an thanks watching from Jamaica west Indies !!
Hi Peter, not sure if they will send to Jamaica but there is Knights CB Radio shop, or Moonraker UK that stock sets. Alternatively you could try Ebay but sometimes sets are not always in the condition they are advertised.
recognised the noise straight away, its not the wifi, its the the white device between the black power supply and the socket, it feed the internet into you mains wiring, and it has a partner somewhere else in the house to pull it back out (they use 27mhz to talk to each as its free for anyone to use), just unplug the 2 white things when using the your radio, but longter try to figure a way to replace the white things with a long network cable
Glad my radio not broke having similar individual freq noises lately day time static hitting better than 15s units!!! Switching to open port on antenna switch it is gone which tells. E is outside source
Not as easy if its external , i was lucky to
Find it was my wifi
Those power line adapters are a pain. I have to turn mine of when working on MW and LW radios
Yes same here if i want no inetereference but i am looking at running an ethernet cable from my router upstairs to my telly to remove them completely and that should eliminate the interference I am hoping as the boxes will be gone. I will post another video on that if it works!
As I say, they should be banned. I can no longer listen to AM radio due to a neighbouring powerline adapter, it's actually around7-10 doors away, can't quite tell which house it's coming from. Causes havoc on CB radio too. It's the radio equivalent of loud rave music being played 24/7. Best regards Tim.
@@timothyjones4950 Hi Tim, I have been turning mine off when using the radio but thats not an ideal solution so I have gone after a permanent fix and will be posting a video of this very shortly.
Not that I suffer from noise, but if I turn the CB off it is nice and quiet! :-P I just couldn't resist it :-D
Classic!! Made me laugh bigtime👍
"Christams bulbs" - I can see your comment in "notifications" but it is not visible under the video for some reason and I can't replay to it, can you comment agian so I can check it appears this time and reply?
Those powerlines adapters should not be allowed, I suffer the same interference from a house down the road somwhere, they run from roughly 500khz. up to around 200mhz now, with bits notched out. Many services receive interference from this technology, including dab, aircraft, etc. Am broadcast band here is unusable. Real shame. Enjoyed the video, and I've just subscribed, best regards, Tim HT in Warwickshire.
Hi Tim and welcome to the channel, glad you enjoyed the video, thought i would post my findings asa lot of operators seem to be suffering with noise from lots of different sources. Moving forward I am going to buy a "20m length of cat 6 ethernet cable" approx £19.99 which isn't a bad price and run that from the router to my tv, this will remove both those boxes and fingers crosssed should remove all the interference,m will do a follow up video when done. This will then hopefully mean I can go on the rig without having to turn off the Wifi and not have this interference anymore.
@@britishcbradio1055 glad to hear it, the trouble is, the population in general don't know the problems with these devices. When you get a neighbouring house with them it's a nightmare. Regarding 40 channel CB radios, quite a few of us still use them, I have a fair collection of them that seam to have taken up residence in our home, there are of course others too. Look forward to the follow up video, best regards, Tim HT.👍
@@timothyjones4950 Hi Tim, collecting radios is a disease!!! it starts at one and before you know it you have 20-30 if not more, lock down has been great for getting after some of those rainy day projectys and a lot of people are doing this as the mail order CB shops are sold out of most bits and pieces, so looks like we have all had the same idea!
@@britishcbradio1055 it good fun though eh, and on a serious note, it ts a great way to communicate. It's the thing I wouldn't be without in life. Regards, Tim HT.
@@timothyjones4950 Agree 100% - its a great hobby and i wouldn't be without it!
I live in a flat and only can use indoor antenna's, interferance is s9 from 1.5 to 30mhz. Damn you modern technology!!!!.
you should be able to reduce that, look at your wifi setup, mobile phone chargers, led lamps etc they will all be adding to that. Have you tried a dark test?
@@britishcbradio1055 i live above a take away and they have all their lights, signs, wifi on so can't really escape it!.
@@elliotspencer2648 Thats a Bugger!
@@britishcbradio1055 i've got one of those emf meters and there are loads of emf hotspots in my flat!, kinda scary!!.
@@elliotspencer2648 Maybe a move is in order not just for the radio but for your health as well! Too much EMF is not supposed to be good for you.
Ferrite caps chokes will fix all that
Hi dstuder, have fixed it, was the internet going through the house mains wiring and now have no interference. I tried ferrite chokes and no joy, i wanted to find the source rather than live with it and now the wifi transmitters gone all is good. The hard run of cable to my tv for the internet actually gives me a better internet signal so a win all round. Cheers.
You should try and find the static coming from my truck :")
Hi, if its interferring with your cb and its an older truck suspect its from alternator or plug leads. If you here a whining that changes when you rev the truck its alternator noise, if its a constant crackle then probably ignition leads / plugs. You can fit a surpressor on the alternator and leads, search that and hopefully you get sorted, have s great christmas and let me know if u get it sorted
@@britishcbradio1055 I got static coming from my head lights and when I turn my steering wheel! And it’s coming thought my antenna on a 2018 Silverado
@@Fox250R try a bumper noise suppressor connected to the power lead of your cb radio you can get them on ebay and they are not that expensive. Also move cb and try it laying on passenger seat, also and check the ground on your aerial it may not be that good. Good luck
I dont like ssb and i dont like fm
Everyones different thats what makes the world go round! Thanks for the comment.
try using a British legal CB radio...
Says the man dxing to georgia on AM in 2011 rofl
@@mrbeach3379 on a HF radio as well running more than the legal limit too..
point being if you're going to try to do a video on noise at least do it on a legal CB that people will relate to and not a half naked Royce
bigpimp347 you did well getting the states that was a really good contact and even better you caught it on vid. The radio in this didn’t really matter to me as it was what was causing the interference that was useful to know and how to identify which item was causing it.
@@mrbeach3379 i didn't do well, it's all down to sunspot cycles,
give it a couple of years and you'll be sick of hearing the US on mid band CB,
after a couple of years it go easier as the cycle got stronger.
hence why there are so many video's i used to do it every day..
Welcome tot he channel, not many people on a straight 40 UK FM set these days, most are on the Superstars, lincolns, magnums etc. Myself I prefer old school radios and noticed your comment abou tthe naked royce, it was like that as I was in the middle of fitting some extra channels in it as it was originally just 40 of each on the mids but it's all back together now as the channel mod is done.
