We were thought about the menstrual cycle and all that in school (Netherlands), but I agree that there should be more focus on what's actually happening with you, how tired you are, how much pain you can have, what PMS actually is (instead of the usual oh she must be on her period). Not just for women, but also men, they should know what's happening with a woman every month, and why we sometimes react the way we do Edit: not completely related to this topic, but i think we should teach people in general how men and women are different and think in different ways. This would improve communication in so many ways imo :)
My cousin taught me this vaguely years ago. She also mentioned that the reason our skin looks the best during the ovulation phase is that that's our most fertile moment. Our body makes us look pretty to make sure we get pregnant xD
Wow! I have 2 whole children and just turned 30 AND consider myslef well-read and I didnt know 1/3 of this info! Wow! My son and daughter MUST know better sooner. Thank you
Emma Margaret . Yes my brother was interested about periods and my dad has been the first person I told when I got my first period ! My dad knows somehow what I should and shouldn’t do and treated it like it was nothing as didn’t criticize me ( but my brother is a brother so he would always criticize me )
I’m on my period, and whenever I about to start it I break out horribly. I’m so happy you guys made this video because I had no idea my blood also had something to do with it. Also I just bought a bunch of purito products so I hope they work on my skin!
Everyone is complaining abt it but its actually so much worse when you don't have it at all... Its like non- stop premenstrual syndrom (non-stop acne, breast pain etc.)
Whenever I'm on my period, my skin clears up and my confidence gets boosted. The only issues are the horrible cramps and the breakouts I get after I finish my period.
Some more notes I took during the video. Perhaps it will help you *Period Blood* Beaware it is normal for your period to go through color changes. 1. Normal period - Color: Bright Cranberry Red - Texture: Can be watery with some cloths. - Flow: Start: moderate to heavy End: Gradually decrease. 2. Oxidized period - Color: Brown-black coffee - Texture: Looks like damp or dried paint. - Flow: Found during beginning or end of period. - It is possible this is left-over blood from a previous cycle. 3. Low Progestorone period - Color: Light pink, red, brown color. - Texture: Very light, spotty or streaky. - Flow: Usually found at start & can last throughout. - This means you should incoporate more vitamine B foods like eggs, diary & meat in your diet. 4. High Estrogen Period - Color: Dark purple or blue tinted - Texture: Watery with cloths - Flow: Common during heavy periods (also those with iron deficiencies) - Very high extrogen levels might lead to thyroid issues or risk for future breast cancer after menopause. 5. Low Estrogen Period - Color: Pink Bubblegum, Lemonade, just very light. - Texture: Watery & barely visible - Flow: Light bleeding throughout. Worth mentioning: if your progesterone or estorgens levels are to high or low it will cause acne.
This is the kind of video that everyone should learn at school when we are teens, no only for girls, boys as well. Thank you so much felicia. Xxx I can't stop talking about period, favourite topic ever. Hahhha Greetings from UK.
@@haerins ya, true. Although the anatomy, sure of course they can, but just not at a young age. Like girls learn about their anatomy in 6 grade (I mean where i live they do) so I think that 12 is a very young age for guys to learn about it.
Ah, when you have PCOS and you won't get your periods without meds and you are breaking out and feeling terrible all the time... yep, these things make a huge difference in your skin, mood and everything. THis was super informative as well and I think that a lot of people needed to be educated on this. Thanks.
Yes!!! Please go into the science of cramps/more reproductive health in the next video!!! It’s almost impossible to find this information easily online! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
It’s most perfect explanation I have ever heard in my life, finally I understand (a bit better at least🙈), what’s happening with my skin! Very good job girls, thank you! 👌🏻🙏🏻👍🏻
These are some notes I took during the video. Maybe you will find it helpfulp as well :) *4 Stages in the cycle:* 1. Menstruation - Avg: Day 1 - 7 in a 28 day cycle 2. Proliferative - Avg: day 8 - 13 from start of menstruation. - Uteruslining is rebuilding itself. 3. Ovulation - Avg: in between day 12 - 14 (from start of mensturation) - It begins once in a cycle and lasts for 12 - 24 hours - Egg is released. 4. Luteal - Avg: day 15 -28 (from start of menstruation) - The 'pre-menstural' phase. *Skincare in the cycle* 1. Menstruation - Estrogen and Progesterone levels low. - Skin clears up., but maybe dry and dull. - Use soothing, calming and gentle ingredients (Calendula, Aloe Vera, Centella Asiatica, Green Tea, Mugwort, Hyaluronic Acid) 2.Proliferative - Estrogen levels rise. Estrogen promotes collagen production & brightens skin. It makes skin bouncy and radiant. - Cell generation is at its peak. - Gentle exfoliants (AHA) 3. Ovulation - Gentle, soothing ingredients. 4. Luteal - Estrogen levels fall, Progesterone levels rises - Clogged pores, increased sebum production. - Use products that prevent inflamation and break-outs. (Good cleansing, BHAs for example) - You can use the acnespot treatments. - Also use sooting ingriedients - *The food that you will eat will make the most difference* Try to cut processed foods & sugars to lessen future breakouts. Incorporate cuciferous vegtables to rebalance & regulate hormones in your diet instead.
This was such a great and informative video! I for one am not bothered at all by anything, I think working in healthcare took care of that for me! It's refreshing seeing women you trust, respect, and admire talking about topics that are REAL and not treated like taboo! Thanks Fel!!!
we ve learnt about this at a young age at school, i remember being so happy that the boys get to learn about this stuff too so they can have a better understanding for us females. every one is diffrent but in my case my attitude and drive for life realy is strongly impacted by the flactuations of my hormones. i hope this videos gets shown in all the schools ! so educational and simple
Incredible incredible video, I knew menstruation affected skin but now I thoroughly understand. Every woman should watch this. Felicia, you are so cute and funny lol; the commentary is great. Thank you once again.
Ive noticed my skin changes so much, like depending on where I am in my cycle sometimes my skincare doesnt agree with my skin and i get so confused but thanks for this!
Thank you so much for saying that cramps are not normal! Along with birth controls, pain killers are not a long term solution to it...please don’t rely on them but to revisit your diet and lifestyle to solution it from the roots.. take care beauties!
This is so so so informative. Thank you so much for making this video - there are still so many young girls out there that have no idea about half of the stuff that's happening to our body during the period... plus still feel ashamed and feel like they're not supposed to talk about it at all and you sharing the subject so lightly makes just the world of difference!
I'm so glad to see this. Your cervical mucus/discharge throughout your cycle tells you about your health. You should look into Creighton Model System of charting!
Thank your for this video as i think a lot of us women suffer in silence with our periods thinking it is normal and not wanting to talk about bleeding concerns and pain. The pain I endure before and during my period is excrutiating. It was helpful for me to hear that this is NOT normal and I need to take a look at my diet and vitamin levels.
Wish you would have mentioned that cramps can be really bad or a lot of bleeding and so on because of Endometriosis which is a chronic illness. Everything else is so awesome!!! 😍
When I first started my period, I had severe cramps that could make me pass out from pain. My doctor told me I had a calcium deficiency, I was like no duh I'm lactose intolerant, then she told me to take calcium supplements everyday and ever since my cramps are still there but I feel no pain with simple pain relievers and even without them the pain is manageable.
I have horrid cramps that lead to nausea and fainting so I’m definitely gonna check with my GYN doctor to make sure it’s nothing serious. Nice to know that cramps aren’t normal and birth control stuff!
Also!! There are so many forms of birth control than just the pill!! If you’re considering going on birth control whether it’s for your skin, periods, or just to avoid pregnancy , always research different forms before just choosing one and make sure it’s the right amount and right type of hormones for your body!! It really does suck that we’ve had to go so far in life without knowing any of this stuff! I tried to educate myself as much as I could before choosing the right form for me and I ended up trying 3 different types (the patch, paragaurd iud and then Mirena iud) and then I went back to the original which was the patch because after all of that messing with my hormonal balance, I finally found out I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and have low estrogen, so the patch was best for me because it is estrogen based. BUT that didn’t solve all of my problems. Taking Flo vitamins has really helped me cystic acne and ovarian cysts as well. So the rest is up to my diet (veganism has really helped me personally) and skin care to stay balanced, which is where the first part of this video really came in handy, so thank you so much @beautywithin!!🙏🙏 Can’t wait for the next video!! ❤️❤️
wow, a tough topic. Good details!! Love it! Im pretty lucky, I have had bad cramps and irregular period when i was younger but now that im older, I dont have much pain, and i don't get acne. And its not bad enough to be on the pill so ya, period acne must sucks. It is great to showcase the type of products to use at each phase.
Yes please go into detail about all of the above discussed issues. I have suffered for years with absent periods. to heavy cramped periods. I have seen doctor after doctor and obgyn specialists with little to know help of what is going on. I had my son in 2014 and it has been a shit show of one issue after another. I even had one doc tell me that because I had a c-section and didn't give birth vaginally that I will most likely have these problems for until menopause. I was like are you f#$%ing kidding me?? Please shed some light on these issues that have been kept in the dark for literally hundreds of years. Thank you , be safe xo
Its very funny how my phases are switched. I know I’m gonna have my periods when my skin looks at its best : it’s clear, no redness, smooth... and it stays that way while I’m on period. Right after the end of my period, my skin gets red, I get clogged pores and stays until my next luteal phase again. It’s really weird
Please don't apologize for being TMI this is extremely crucial info. I dealt with estrogen dominance for a long time wuthout even knowing it. Also doctors are going to teach u every thing bcoz a consulation takes like 10 minutes and they have other patients. So in a nutshell, raspberry leaf tea, eating green leafy vegs more(twice a day),fruits, nuts, seeds and exercise was a savior for me.
Great video! On the topic of myths, I heard one recently that shocked me. Even older adults didn't know. The myth is that we have to take out tampons to pee because you won't be able to pee with a tampon in. That is 100% false. It really highlights the need for comprehensive and medically accurate health classes.
Im kinda happy, currently in my period and my body is telling me in ok! But can be better. I love to learn about this stuff, i believe we should learn much more about this... Before learning about other stuff that can be a choice, this is a rule in every woman.
I’ve only began watching this channel for a month or so but omg Felícia you’re my fav! The jokes you make crack me up idk if you have lines to say or it’s just off the top of your head but I love it. I’m so glad I found this channel you guys are awesome 😎
The main thing that I've found that really causes cramps for me is eating cold foods, like ice cream or drinking iced water. I think it's 'cause blood flows easier when it's warmer, so, basically, don't eat too many cold foods before or during the early days of your period and load up on the warm foods.
Maybe a vid on using birth control? Im not using it because of any health/skin problems but I havent heard that it messes up your gut microbiome! Such video would be very helpful!
for the longest time I thought I was probably unhealthy bc I LOVE snackin, but now I feel better bc u said that ur not feeding ur body the right things if u get cramps, which thank GOD I don’t. 😌👍
WoW this video is greaaat! How the hell we havent been educated about menstruation in school?? Its not anything disgusting, nor unconfortable nor a shame! Actually.... WOMEN,WE ARE AMAZINGGG
Nice video. I going to share it with my teenage niece. I think it’s important to understand what’s happening in your body. This video had good information and it was presented in an easy to understand way.
Say it Felicia, just say it: the pill is the woooorst!!! Thanks for this video though! I've never seen anything on adapting your routine for your cycle.
This video is the best thing ever! I have the worst pains during my period and breakout lile there's no tomorrow. Can you please do a video on the period pain topic you mentioned? And solutions to reduce the pain... i really know nothing about what you mentioned and would like to learn more
so good! we really should learn about this so much sooner in life.... thanks for this! (been binging your vids the last few days and they are SO GREAT!)
Please please do the video on menstrual cramp, and ways (food/diet) to prevent it. Every month for a long as I remember, I needed to take a day off of school and work because I’m literally dying of menstrual pain. I take birth control regularly only for the reason of trying to prevent menstrual cramp. So far the birth control pills work but it is not practical to take it long term for such reason. I would greatly appreciate if there’s a video on the topic ❤️❤️
You guys should have way more than 2 million subscribers! I learnt more in the past 2 hours then in my whole life. You guys are sooooo amazing and fantastic and provide amazing information 🤗😁
The video i didnt know I needed. Most informative video, I had to watch it twice and make notes. Everything suddenly makes so much more sense. Also just realised i need to adjust my skincare products to accommodate these different phases. Being a woman is alot wtf!
And the last bit of notes I took during the video. *Period Mythes* 1. Cramps are normal. - They are not. - Cramping could mean a deficiency in essential nutrients. You aren't feeding your body right. - PGE1 & PGE3: in control of relaxtion our uturus. - PGE2: in control of contraction, the cramping sensations. - If you have cramps it means 2. Birth control will help fix all your problems - Yes, it can work, *but* it is more like a band-aid. It is a quick fix. - In the long run your symptomes can get worse with the use of the pill, because it has syntetic hormones that really mess with the microbiome of your body. It strips the body of nutrients. - Prolonged use of birth contorl can alter hormone regulation. - *It is not the worst*, but it should be your last resport option. There are things you can try first.
It would be nice to have a similar video but with hormones during pregnancy (also with products prohibitions and recommendations) and during lactation!! In my case, have a 2year old whom I am still breastfeeding, while taking a lactation compatible pill (I think that means no estrogen), so I have not seen my period since getting pregnant, almost 3 years now 🙃 I don’t have any crazy skin issues, but because of lactation I do prefer going for clean products, and avoid retinols!
For me, diary products make my acne worse so I don’t consume them at all. Red meat and eggs i eat them regularly but not too much cuz they also make me breakout.
oh my god . thank you so much for this insightful vedio. i have pcos and have irregular period. I have acne around my period as well as my ovulation time( i have period tracker) . i always struggle with what i should use during those time. So thank you 💙💛💜
I had cramps when I just started to get my period but over the years the occassions decreased and now at 20 I can say I haven't had cramps for about 2 years. I thought I was a weirdo because most of the women in my family have it but I guess it makes sense since most of the other women in my family have high stress jobs.
I will cramps for the first day of my period around 4-5 hours every month n just need to sleep. After that i will be fine. Acne also pop out around my jaws. I like your explanation keep it up❤️
I'm 31 and I didn't even learn half of the stuff in school. If I learned about the food and level of hormones and how to combat acne, I would of been more confident in myself
Why aren’t we educated about this stuff at school...😡
they are too busy asking how to find x so that .0001% of us can become a rocket scientist
In Europe we do. When we are around 14/15. We don’t talk about color and texture but we talk about hormones and phases and that shit. It’s mandatory for every class wether ur a male or a female...
Yes!
If you take biology...
We were thought about the menstrual cycle and all that in school (Netherlands), but I agree that there should be more focus on what's actually happening with you, how tired you are, how much pain you can have, what PMS actually is (instead of the usual oh she must be on her period). Not just for women, but also men, they should know what's happening with a woman every month, and why we sometimes react the way we do
Edit: not completely related to this topic, but i think we should teach people in general how men and women are different and think in different ways. This would improve communication in so many ways imo :)
ok can we talk about how pretty that dress is? you look stunning in it felicia!
Their wardrobe is always so amazing 🤩
My cousin taught me this vaguely years ago. She also mentioned that the reason our skin looks the best during the ovulation phase is that that's our most fertile moment. Our body makes us look pretty to make sure we get pregnant xD
Too hot for tv ne 😏😅
The body really is a wonderful thing, but i never knew that 😂 that’s too funny
This comment tho making me laugh hysterically😂🤣 our body making sure we get pregnant 🤰😅
I learned more in 20 min than I did in 4 years of uni 😭
Wow! I have 2 whole children and just turned 30 AND consider myslef well-read and I didnt know 1/3 of this info! Wow! My son and daughter MUST know better sooner. Thank you
i love that you included your son! I feel like mom's don't educate their sons at all in this category so this is nice to hear!
Emma Margaret . Yes my brother was interested about periods and my dad has been the first person I told when I got my first period ! My dad knows somehow what I should and shouldn’t do and treated it like it was nothing as didn’t criticize me ( but my brother is a brother so he would always criticize me )
i just got on my period today and this was posted wow this is my skin telling me i need help 😭😭
I am still on mine right now
Masooma Mehdi just got mine tonight too 😔😖🥺
*Same here gurl*
This was posted a few days after mine ended.
Same gurl
I’m on my period, and whenever I about to start it I break out horribly. I’m so happy you guys made this video because I had no idea my blood also had something to do with it. Also I just bought a bunch of purito products so I hope they work on my skin!
Bubblegum Bi- . I usually get really sick before getting my period
Everyone is complaining abt it but its actually so much worse when you don't have it at all... Its like non- stop premenstrual syndrom (non-stop acne, breast pain etc.)
K. K. That’s what I’ve been going through lately too and it is awful.
Lol saammeee my friends can tell whenever I’m on my period because my skin breaks out so badly
I wished I learned all this when I was younger. It would have been helpful to better understand health situation.
Whenever I'm on my period, my skin clears up and my confidence gets boosted. The only issues are the horrible cramps and the breakouts I get after I finish my period.
Such a pity please start taking raspberry tea daily right after your period even during.
Also u will notice your blood will be brighter.
me laughing because i’m on my period and am bloody breaking out😩i wish
Some more notes I took during the video. Perhaps it will help you

Im kinda happy, currently in my period and my body is telling me in ok! But can be better. I love to learn about this stuff, i believe we should learn much more about this... Before learning about other stuff that can be a choice, this is a rule in every woman.
YES tell us more about cramping in the next video!
can u read my mind? this was just what i needed and sooo good and informative❤️ (also where is that dress from??)
I’ve only began watching this channel for a month or so but omg Felícia you’re my fav! The jokes you make crack me up idk if you have lines to say or it’s just off the top of your head but I love it. I’m so glad I found this channel you guys are awesome 😎
I never get period cramps but most of my friends does get it...and till now I thought it's normal but now that I know it isn't , I'm just in shock. :)
Every girl should know these things. Thanks 😊
Can’t wait for the follow up video!
Say it Felicia, just say it: the pill is the woooorst!!! Thanks for this video though! I've never seen anything on adapting your routine for your cycle.
Oh this is different coming from this channel, LOVE IT!
6:45 "Why do I live?!" Hahaha.... you've made my day!

Weird, everywhere I read says period cramps are normal, would love to learn more about this!!

Congrats 😊
Mood Aff Keep up a healthy diet and lots of water and you’ll be fine! Good luck
Thank you so much! For future videos, can you guys talk about skin care for our bodies, please!
One of the most interesting and useful videos I've watched from you, girls! Thank you, love it! xoxo
It was very educative! Thank you!
so many new knowledge I've gained. thank you for another great educational video! now I know what to do with my skin during the period cycles ❤
Though out my life I barely had PMS symptoms, my friends always hated that. Good to know it’s based of your diet
I can't be the only one who doesn't get skin problems from my period, I never break out and I hope that's a good sign lol
OMG. Love how you broke it down, this video could not have come at a better time... Thank you XOXO
Please talk about how acne and other skin problems are affected by hormonal issues like PCOS!! And recommended products to treat it!
You guys should have way more than 2 million subscribers! I learnt more in the past 2 hours then in my whole life. You guys are sooooo amazing and fantastic and provide amazing information 🤗😁
Thank you for explaining these informations!!! We all need to be educated about all the amazing functions our female body can achieve!!
i learned more about myself in this video than i did in my entire school years
I want the second video! Very informative and important. I enjoy the visuals too.
The video i didnt know I needed. Most informative video, I had to watch it twice and make notes. Everything suddenly makes so much more sense. Also just realised i need to adjust my skincare products to accommodate these different phases. Being a woman is alot wtf!
And the last bit of notes I took during the video.
*Period Mythes*
1. Cramps are normal.
- They are not.
- Cramping could mean a deficiency in essential nutrients. You aren't feeding your body right.
- PGE1 & PGE3: in control of relaxtion our uturus.
- PGE2: in control of contraction, the cramping sensations.
- If you have cramps it means
2. Birth control will help fix all your problems
- Yes, it can work, *but* it is more like a band-aid.
In my case, have a 2year old whom I am still breastfeeding, while taking a lactation compatible pill (I think that means no estrogen), so I have not seen my period since getting pregnant, almost 3 years now 🙃
I don’t have any crazy skin issues, but because of lactation I do prefer going for clean products, and avoid retinols!
I LOVE that you guys are touching on this topic!!
😣 i dont recommend dairy and meat to regulate your cycle. It causes inflammation and for me it makes my periods so much worse.
But that's you. Dairy is very beneficial for me. Obviously we are all so different.
For me, diary products make my acne worse so I don’t consume them at all. Red meat and eggs i eat them regularly but not too much cuz they also make me breakout.
Tammy Baxter How so?
I think i will use this while teaching in my bio class ...it was really light and fun. Students will be more attentive. Thanks ☺
Thanks for this info ! I’m 41 and you’ve just educated me ! 💜💜😘
Killed it! Actually laughed out loud watching this thank you for the smile and information :)
I appreciate this thorough video with your quirky humor sparkled in between!!
oh my god . thank you so much for this insightful vedio. i have pcos and have irregular period. I have acne around my period as well as my ovulation time( i have period tracker) . i always struggle with what i should use during those time. So thank you 💙💛💜
Definitely learned a lot of facts that I never knew about periods. Very much appreciate this video
When I get my period I don’t get a lot of cramps, it’s just a little pain here and there, drinking water helps a lot
Thank you for the awesome video and yes please let’s have a video on Peg 1 & 2 please!!!
Miranda Alvarez yes!!
Everything goes downhill for me after ovulation. Apart from period breakout, PMDD sets in and damn near kills me in new ways every month!
Just in time!!! I started my cycle last night!!!! Cant wait to learn allllll of this
I had cramps when I just started to get my period but over the years the occassions decreased and now at 20 I can say I haven't had cramps for about 2 years. I thought I was a weirdo because most of the women in my family have it but I guess it makes sense since most of the other women in my family have high stress jobs.
Can you do a video on how to get rid of or help dry skin? These videos are insanely helpful, thank you so much!
