  • Torsen zexel posi unit out 98-02 Camaro is the best bang for the buck it's 28 spline axles so STOCK 7.5 AXLES WILL NOT WORK you would need some Moser 28 spline axles cost 260 shipped or GBODY STOCK 8.5 rearend axles out a GN OR 442 WILL WORK there kind of hard to find but Moser would make better choice to give you a more strong er rearend

That 7.5 can only handle up to 300hp at best and that is actually pushing it to the limit so don't push it or you find yourself back at the junk yard searching for another one ! Anything over 300hp , I recommend you going with a 12 bolt . .... good luck with it ! Peace !

Best not to run an old posi if you plan on hitting the drag strip pretty regularly. The week clutch system in the posi is too inefficient and wear out easily. Besides, putting the car's power to the wheel with the least traction never made any sense to me.
Your advice is good advice as most people don't know much about center sections. * Ring Gear

Did the g body 7.625 (7 5/8) come with 28 spline axles? I know I've lived a 7.625 out of a 86 Monte Carlo SS and it was a hell of a lot heavier than the 7.5 I had a posi and 3.73 gears in. That was the only thing I could figure out, but the 373 in the 86 7 and 8 has 28 spline axles in them already. I would know for sure but I never did pull the cover off and pop an axle to count one.

Keep up the good work man! I'll be posting some work in progress videos on mine before too long.

That rear end does not fit in a 78 to 88G body. There are two different deck heights on the 7 1/2 inch 10 bolt rear end 1.66” and 1.95”. Thus making the ring gear and different depth as well. G body use the 26 spline the 98 3002 Camaro is a larger axle and 28 spline. Your information is incorrect... Not to mention if you’re gonna push slicks or a stupid set of Donk wheels this year and is weak and won’t handle horsepower or any bullshit
